How the Communists Trained Their Leaders: A Model for Local Tea Party Organizers--What you are about to read is virtually unknown. Yet it is an old story. I first read a version of this story in Douglas Hyde's little book, Dedication and Leadership (1956). Hyde had been a Communist Party leader in Great Britain in the 1930s and 1940s. In the late 1940s he defected and joined the Roman Catholic Church. He wrote a fine autobiography, I Believed. In 1962, he gave a seminar in front of priests and nuns. He called it Dedication and Leadership Techniques. I own a photocopy of the minutes of that seminar. I have reprinted most of it. It is posted on my website, (CONTINUED)

I was recently asked at a social gathering, “just who is the Tea Party”? I thought for a minute about all the people I have met over the years that support the mission which is to expose and defeat those who have abandoned our Constitution! There is no shortage of candidates from both sides of the aisle that fit in this category so perhaps the question should be, what is the Tea Party?
The Tea Party is a mind set. An idea, a quest, carried in the hearts and minds of those who believe that our Bill of Rights has stood steadfast for over two hundred years. Today that same document is being tested by the enemies of freedom to be supplanted by total governmental control over all aspects of our lives. We have constant reminders of the insidious nature of the current administration when confronted with health care, energy and even consumer choices in food consumption.
What is the Tea Party? It is a thirst for freedom and a longing for the return of the individual over the State. It is a hunger for the individual to make the decisions that affect our lives over a faceless entity sitting in Washington.
And ‘who’ is the Tea Party? It is you and I. It is those who have sacrificed their lives to pass the baton of freedom on to future generations. We have a responsibility to see that it falls in the hands of our children and grandchildren.
The very future of our Nation rests in our hands…It is imperative that we stand for the hard right over the easy wrong.
April 16, 2012: Hatch on Tea Party: 'I despise these people'
Utah Republican Sen. Orrin Hatch is “doggone offended” by the activists and voters standing between him and re-election, describing them as “radical libertarians.”
Hatch was first elected to the Senate in 1976. This year, major conservative groups announced their intention of defeating Hatch — who they deemed too moderate. FreedomWorks has reportedly spent at least $670,000 attacking Hatch this cycle. ...
“I despise these people,” Hatch added, “and I’m not the guy you come in and dump on without getting punched in the mouth.”

April 16, 2012: TPN—Judson Phillips: Decline? Once again, the media is trying to push a story that fits their narrative. Yesterday, ABC news released a “poll” saying that the Tea Party was in decline. Really?
There is joy in the newsrooms of the drive by media. Allegedly we are in decline.
This narrative is not new. In fact, it is three years old. Ever since the incredibly popular tax day Tea Party rallies of three years ago, the drive by media has been pushing that narrative.
The Tea Party is not holding rallies the way we used to. The movement has become much more sophisticated. We are involved in campaigns now, not just holding signs and making a lot of noise.

April 12, 2012: Tea Party Launches Group to Combat IRS-- Saying President Barack Obama is “targeting the Tea Party” and using the “IRS as a weapon,” Tea Party activists Wednesday launched a coalition to combat the federal government agency’s burdensome and onerous interrogation of conservative groups to determine if they should receive tax exempt status. Speaking at the National Press Club, two Tea Party group leaders announced the formation of the Liberty Defense Foundation, which will assist grassroots organizations in fending off long questionnaires from the IRS when filing for 501 (c) (4) non-profit status.

Mailed from the same Cincinnati, Ohio IRS office, these letters have reached Tea Parties in Virginia, Hawaii, Ohio, and Texas (we are hearing of more daily). There are several common threads to these letters: all are requesting more information from these independent Tea Parties in regard to their nonprofit 501(c)(4) applications (for this type of nonprofit, donations are not deductible). While some of the requests are reasonable, much of them are strikingly onerous and, dare I say, Orwellian in nature.

February 24. 2012: Tea Party Patriots co-founder resigns--Mark Meckler, co-founder and national coordinator for the Tea Party Patriots, resigned on Friday, according to a press release from the group. “Mark Meckler's resignation as an employee and from the Tea Party Patriots board follows months of discussions and good-faith differences on how best TPP can serve the Tea Party movement,” the statement read. “He felt it necessary to step aside and pursue other endeavors. We extend our best wishes to him. He has done many good things for the movement.”

Richmond, VA, Audits TEA Party!
Thanks Mike Gallagher, “Mayor Dwight Jones (804-646-7970) met with Occupy leaders, issued a permit, and supplied porta-pots and police protection – all without charging them. TEA patriots paid for all of these services and left no mess – they asked Jones for a refund and were handed an audit.
Story: Zaid Jilani, ThinkProgress: “…The Richmond Tea Party has been alleging that it is being singled out for unfair treatment from the city of Richmond, Virginia after officials have opened a tax auditof the group. These Tea Partiers complain that the city has been much more lenient on Occupy Richmond (which recently faced arrestsafter resisting an eviction) and that 99 Percenters are getting preferential treatment.
“Yet the Richmond Tea Party just got an unexpected ally in its claim against the city — Occupy Richmond. The group put out a statement defending the Tea Party group and criticizing possible politically-motivated retaliationagainst it by the city:
After the city accused the Richmond Tea Party of being overdue on tax filings, Occupy Richmond issued a statement saying “it would not surprise us” if the move was “retaliation” for the Tea Party’s criticism of Mayor Dwight Jones. [...] “The Tea Party and Occupy movements disagree on many, many issues,” Occupy Richmond’s Thursday statement said. “This should not stop all Americans from proudly standing together against government abuses.”
“Richmond Tea Party spokeswoman Colleen Owens says the group “never really had any kind of beef with the Occupy people” and that she’s “glad the Occupy group agrees with us.”

‘Let’s Take These Sons Of Bitches Out’: Teamsters President Hoffa Calls for War on Tea Party at Obama Labor Day Event--President Obama had a fiery warm up act before his Labor Day speech in Detroit. Here’s Fox News on the speech by Teamsters President Jimmy Hoffa:
The rhetoric coming from speakers at the event was already heated before Hoffa took the stage. Hoffa then declared there’s a “war on workers” and vowed that organized labor would “remember in November” which lawmakers were opposing the president’s agenda.
“We’ve got to keep an eye on the battle that we face — a war on workers. And you see it everywhere. It is the Tea Party,” he said. “And there’s only one way to beat and win that war — the one thing about working people is, we like a good fight.”
Hoffa called on workers to get involved in opposing Tea Party-aligned lawmakers next November. “President Obama, this is your army, we are ready to march,” Hoffa said. “But everybody here’s got to vote. If we go back, and keep the eye on the prize, let’s take these sons of bitches out.”

Candidates speak at S.C. Tea Party forum-- September 5, 2011
Opening a tea party-backed forum in this first voting state in the South, presidential hopeful Michele Bachmann on Monday criticized President Barack Obama's understanding of the Constitution and pledged fidelity to the nation's founding document as she wooed the grassroots activists who could deliver her the GOP's nomination.
Bachmann said the 2012 presidential election would hinge on each candidate's understanding of the Constitution, which she called "that sacred document." Branding herself a "constitutional conservative," the former federal tax lawyer challenged Obama's understanding of his powers. She cited Obama's political and policy advisers, whom she called "czars," the Justice Department's decision not to appeal a court's overturning of a federal marriage law, and his immigration policies.

2012 is here. 2011 is in the history books. It will not be missed.
2009 and 2010 were the year of the Tea Party. In 2009 we rallied people in the streets and in 2010 we sent a bunch of liberals into retirement and brought new conservative voices to Washington.
In 2011, we were ignored. A lot of people thought we had put the Republicans in charge of the House and we might not get all we wanted but we would at least start moving the ball.
What was the result?
The people we put in charge surrendered at every opportunity. The debt ceiling was raised yet again. Spending went unchecked. Spending this year, under a Republican controlled House, was 3% higher than it was when Nancy Pelosi and Harry Reid controlled the Congress.
Now, thanks to the debt ceiling deal, Barack Obama can pretty much on his own raise our debt ceiling. He is about to inform Congress he is going to raise the debt ceiling by $1.2 trillion dollars.
This is yet more debt and more wasteful spending that will do nothing but drive down the American economy.
Over the last few months, on Tea Party Nation, a common theme has emerged. People have been asking one simple question. Why aren’t we doing something? The quotes were almost the same. Is the Tea Party now just going to sit around and complain or are we going to do something.
IT IS TIME FOR THE TEA PARTY TO ACT.
Monday, February 27th will be the third anniversary of the original Tea Party rallies. It is time for us to go back out to the streets.
One of the rallying cries of 2009 was, “Can you hear us now?” It is time for them to hear us again.
We must go to the streets again with two simple messages.
1. We must live within our means. We must cut spending to equal our tax revenue. Washington’s idea of spending cuts is either to decrease the amount of spending increase or to cut a fantasy budget that is five years out. No more. We must see real spending cuts. We must eliminate the waste and the fraud in government spending. We must eliminate crony capitalism spending such as loan guarantees for prominent donors, such as Solyndra. The budget must be reduced to at least a level equal to our tax revenues.
2. No more borrowing. The national debt already exceeds 100% of our Gross Domestic Product. Heavy borrowing destroys an economy. Just look at Greece or some of the other European nations. Barack Obama’s regime has borrowed more money than the previous 43 administrations combined. What do we have to show for it, other than a massive national debt?
Congress lacks the courage to cut off the spending for special interests. We must give them the courage.
