ObamaCare: Taxpayer subsidy for ME, but not for THEE

No wonder Richard Burr thinks it is “the dumbest idea”to defund ObamaCare.  It’s leaked out that the federal government will subsidize the health care costs of Members of Congress and their staffs:

All over the country, people are worried about how Obamacare will affect the cost and quality of their health coverage. Members of Congress and their staffs were especially panicked, because it appeared that the Affordable Care Act required them to purchase coverage on the law’s new insurance exchanges, but without the generous subsidy they receive for their current coverage. Capitol Hill collectively exhaled yesterday, when it came out that the U.S. Office of Personnel Management would allow members and their staffs to keep their insurance subsidies.

How Taxpayers Will Bail Out Detroit

Detroit is proposing an effort to offload much of its bloated healthcare costs onto the American taxpayer, using ObamaCare

On Sunday, Treasury Secretary Jack Lew ostensibly ruled out a federal government bailout of Detroit following its recent declaration of bankruptcy.  “You know George, Detroit’s economic problems have been a long time in developing…I think when it comes to the questions between Detroit and its creditors, that’s what Detroit is going to have to work out with the creditors,” he told ABC’s George Stephanopoulos. Not quite. Detroit is proposing an effort to offload much of its bloated healthcare costs onto the American taxpayer, using ObamaCare as the vehicle for doing so.

“The Affordable Care Act does change the possibilities here dramatically,” said Neil Bomberg, a program director at the National League of Cities. “It offers a very high-quality, potentially very affordable way to get people into health care without the burden falling back onto the city and town.” In reality, the proposal would do nothing more than shift the so-called “burden” of fiscal irresponsibility produced by decades of “city and town” politicians colluding with labor unions onto other cities and towns that had nothing to do with that irresponsibility. As for “affordability,” such a statement is equally nonsensical. More affordability for Detroit, and other progressive sinkholes, equals less affordability for those expected to make up the difference.

ObamaCare Fee: $3; Cost of Paying: $100

Like a lot of conservatives, I have plenty of doubts about the president’s massive health care overhaul that’s going to change the way Americans get health coverage come Jan. 1, 2014. I think the plan is too big, too expensive, too cumbersome, too reliant on subsidies and imposes too may regulations. Although I support some of its goals, I would have surely voted against it were I a member of Congress.

Many on the political left — including a lot of thoughtful people whose opinions I respect — like the plan a lot more than I do. But I’ve just discovered a feature I think even they would agree is utterly futile.
Among the provisions that thousands (perhaps tens of thousands) of small businesses are soon going to have to comply with is one that requires filling out a hugely complex form and paying an accountant to review and file it. In the case of the R Street Institute, we will be paying our accountant $53 to file this form. That may not sound like much but, aye, here’s the rub:
Our fee came to just $3.
You read that right. We will be spending, when you figure in staff time, at least $100 to comply with a bureaucratic mandate, just so the government can collect a $3 fee. Even our accountant was dumbstruck; you can read his take here.

Obamacare Call Center Hiring Part-Time Workers, Not Providing Healthcare

In order to ensure Americans understand how to access the benefits available to them when many provisions of the Affordable Care Act go online October 1, the Obama administration announced last month that it is setting up a call center that will be accessible to Americans 24 hours a day.

One branch of that call center will be located in California’s Contra Costa County, where, reportedly, 7,000 people applied for the 204 jobs. According to the Contra Costa Times, however, “about half the jobs are part-time, with no health benefits — a stinging disappointment to workers and local politicians who believed the positions would be full-time.” The county supervisor, Karen Mitchoff, called the hiring process “a comedy of errors” and said she “never dreamed [the jobs] would be part-time.”

Canada Free Presss: Obamacare’s Data Hub

The federal government is asking us to not only allow all of our information to be in one place, but to trust them with it

The Affordable Care Act is so despicable, even the Republicans are beginning to see the reality that it must be repealed, not replaced.

Barack Obama, and his minions, know that they are losing ground, and are doing whatever they can to get support back for the federal health care law, while targeting individuals, and handing out waivers to allies, and delaying business killing mandates against companies.  Never mind that from a constitutional perspective, regardless of what the ideology-influenced Supreme Court Justices say (remember, those people are supposed to be apolitical, but their rulings, and the opinions attached to those rulings, are telling us otherwise),health insurance, and health care in general, is not an authority granted to the federal government by the United States Constitution in the first place.

As time passes, the truth about the dangers that Obamacare poses become more and more apparent.  None of it surprises those that have opposed the monstrosity from the beginning, be it rising health care costs, rising insurance premiums, tyrannical mandates, and unworkable programs.  In fact, they have been illegally amending it just to try to make some of the components work.  It is so complex, the law is unworkable, unenforceable, and too general. . . by design.

Ultimately, the plan is for all hell to break loose, for the failure of the system to be astronomical, and then Obama stepping in to save the day with federally controlled socialized medicine (a.k.a. Single Payer).

When the IRS and NSA scandals surfaced, Americans began to become more aware of the dwindling liberties we are experiencing under the hidden iron fist of the current administration (while blaming it on the previous administration).  As we wade through the turmoil of the Zimmerman Trial aftermath, we are realizing how divisive this nation is becoming, by design, under the tutelage of the race-baiting manipulators of the Obama administration.  We are discovering, with the alphabet scandals, that our privacy does not belong to us anymore.  This government, under liberal control, is determined to know everything about us, and use that information to control our every move.  We are aware, we think, of the intrusion of the federal government into our lives. . . yet, the real danger, the real liberty killer, is within the pages of the massive Affordable Care Act.

Obamacare’s big brother database, for those of us that have been on task since the beginning, is of no surprise.  The Obama administration hired 16,000 more IRS agents to enforce Obamacare, and we know how the IRS likes to target anyone that opposes Obama.  With all of that additional personnel also comes a Data Hub that is a massive comprehensive database of personal information being established by the Department of Health and Human Services (HHS) to implement the federally facilitated health insurance exchanges.

The presence of the idea of the centralized Data Hub is making some lawmakers nervous, and should be making you very nervous as well.

It brings to mind the famous quote by Ronald Reagan that essentially goes, “The most frightening words in the English language are, ‘Hi, we’re from the government, and we’re here to help.’”

The federal government has already shown that they can’t be trusted, and yet they are now doing what they can to access and store our personal information, all of it, in one location, under federal guardianship.  The potential for abuse with this Data Hub is enormous. The massive, centralized database will include comprehensive personal information such as income and financial data, family size, citizenship and immigration status, incarceration status, social security numbers, and private health information - though I wouldn’t doubt your political affiliation, and history, will be included, too. It will compile dossiers based on information obtained from the IRS, the Department of Homeland Security, the Department of Defense, the Veterans Administration, the Office of Personnel Management, the Social Security Administration, state Medicaid databases, and for some reason the Peace Corps. The Data Hub will provide web-based, one-stop shopping for prying into everyone’s personal affairs.

Potential for Abuse 'Enormous' With Massive Obamacare Database

Those worried about how much data the National Security Agency has collected on them won't like what's coming in 2014.

The Patient Protection and Affordable Care Act, popularly known as Obamacare, is building a giant database of everyone's personal information as part of its effort to run the system. The Department of Health and Human Services assures everyone that the Federal Data Services Hub will be secure, but after the IRS and NSA scandals, not everyone is convinced.

"The potential for abuse is enormous," notes Rare.com Deputy Editor James S. Robbins. He says that the massive database will include "income and financial data, family size, citizenship and immigration status, incarceration status, social security numbers, and private health information."

It will compile files on everyone in the United States and will get its information from the IRS, the Department of Homeland Security, the Department of Defense, the Veterans Administration, the Office of Personnel Management, the Social Security Administration, state Medicaid databases, and the Peace Corps.
