Beaufort Patriot Tea Party Meeing: Common Core

May meeting will be 5-16-13

7:00 p.m. Mt. Olive College Building, US 264 W in Washington, NC

Program: What you need to know about the "Common Core" curriculum

Special guests: Dr. Don Phipps and Becky Taylor

There's a great deal of attention being paid these days to the "Common Core." But few people actually know what it is, what it is all about, and more importantly, what it means for students, parents, grandparents and business people. Come find out from those who are involved.

Dr. Don Phipps is the Superintendent of Beaufort County Schools. He will explain how Beaufort County Schools is and will implement the Common Core.

Becky Taylor is a member of the N. C. Board of Education. Many people do not know what the State Board does, but one of its most important jobs is to adopt and oversee the curriculum in the public schools. That is, the State Board determines what is to be taught. The testing program is then aligned with the curriculum and between those two, it determines what kind of education your child, grandchild or employee gets. Becky Taylor is the CEO of Sylvan Learning Center in Washington, Greenville and several other cities. She was recently appointed to the State Board by Governor Pat McCrory. She will explain how the state is dealing with the Common Core.

It is important for Patriots to be informed about what is happening in our schools. We shouldn't wait until we read about a new program in the media. The time to learn and become involved is when the curriculum is being developed. Come learn how to do that.

How did America become the greatest nation in world history...

And why are we losing it? If you missed Dr. Earl Taylor's inspiring presentation on the Constitution last week you really missed something. Dr. Taylor explained what makes America unique in world history, the role the U. S. Constitution, Bill of Rights and Declaration of Independence played in the Making of America and why we are suffering some of the devastation we are suffering today. He laid out a simple, but profound, roadmap for returning America to its once great status.

The session was sponsored by the Beaufort County Committee of Constitutional Studies, the Beaufort Patriot TEA Party and the Eastern N. C. TEA Party. It was hosted by H&R Block at their training facility on 15th Street in Washington.

Dr. Taylor began the seminar by reviewing why America was settled, from Jamestown in 1607 and the Pilgrims in 1620 through the colonial period. But he focused on the Federal period from 1775 to 1830 when the Articles of Confederation were replaced by the formation of the government we now call the United States of America.

A Message from Beaufort Patriot Tea Party

More loss of freedom to the Federal Government

Most of us were taught in elementary school (hopefully) about the Minutemen. You remember; those courageous patriots who took up arms to fight against British oppression. What few were taught was how American liberties have consistently been taken away since 1776. The pattern has been repeated over and over again. Few realized when Gibbons v. Ogden was handed down in 1824 (giving the Federal Government supremacy over inter-state commerce) that we would ever experience ObamaCare. And even fewer realized that the adoption of the Sixteenth Amendment would result in the IRS not having to adhere to the Bill of Rights.

The Creeping Leviathan still lives.

We share with you a story in the Beaufort Observer that should chill your soul. Imagine someday having to get a government permit to move from one place to another, either temporarily or permanently.

Please note that S 1813 has passed the Senate and now sits in the House awaiting consideration.

We urge you to contact your Congressman and tell him to either vote against S 1813 or work to have it amended to remove Section 40304.

Beaufort Candidates' Fourm April 3, 2012

Beaufort Candidates' Fourm--April 3, 2012, 7:00 p.m.

The Beaufort Patriot Tea Party, in cooperation with the Beaufort Observer and the County Compass, is sponsoring a Candidates’ Forum Tuesday April 3 at 7:00 p.m. at Beaufort County Community College. Candidates for the legislative seats from Beaufort County as well as the County Commission have been invited to participate.

This is an excellent way to gain information about who you will vote for in the May 8th primary. Candidates have been told they will be afforded time to make a statement about the issues they think most important and where they stand on those issues. We will also collect questions from the audience before the session starts and pose some of those questions to the candidates as time permits. If you have a question you want to hear discussed please give it to one of the registrars at the table as you enter the lobby before the session starts.

This will also be an excellent opportunity for each Tea Party Patriot to build their 10 X 10 network. Contact ten people and ask them to come with you, or meet you at the Forum. This presents you with a practical reason for contacting your ten people and sets the stage for doing so again as early voting begins (April 19 through May 5).

We will also have voter registration forms at the table. Anyone who is not registered to vote, or wishes to change party affiliation, may do so by picking up a Registration Form at the Forum and mailing or taking it to the Board of Elections (before April 13).

The May 8 primary will be critically important in determining who will control the majority in both the Legislature and County Commission. It is vital that we select nominees who will offer a conservative choice for the voters in November.

Please plan to attend Tuesday night and get ten patriots to be there with you.

BEAUFORT PATRIOT TEA PARTY MEETING

TUESDAY, JANUARY 24, 2012, 7:00PM.
4525 US 264 WEST
MOUNT OLIVE COLLEGE WEST END.

This will be a working and planning meeting to get ready for 2012. We are facing one of the most important elections for the life of America. At the same time we are facing the erosion of our local and State Government. It will fall into the hands of the TEA PARTY to lead the charge against the rampant corruption in all of these levels of Government.

These are some of the items we will need to discuss:

1. How do we gain more strength with the Tea Party.
2. How do we effectively get out the vote in 2012.
3. What are our best tactics to get conservative and honest candidates elected.
4. How do we continue to educate the public.
5. How can we have a presence at all of the upcoming festivals and fairs.
6. How do we raise money for our needs.
7. When should we start rally’s again. Where and how should they be.
8. How do we network.
9. Who should we affiliate with.
10. Promoting upcoming Constitution Seminars.
11. We need to review our working committees to get the job done.
12. How do we communicate.
13. How do we get out the vote.

Please plan to attend and bring a friend. Your ideas and synergism are very important. We have to act now. There may not be a second chance.

The Non-Recess Recess Appointment and the GOP AWOL (Absent Without Leadership)!

I realize House GOP has its hands full in battling the Lying King in the White House and a do-nothing, Demoncratically-controlled Senate that has refused to pass a budget in almost 1,000 days, but what, in Heaven’s name, is going on with the House and Senate GOP leadership? Yes, Speaker of the House Boehner battled the duplicitous duo of the Lying King and Dirty Harry on the extension of the Payroll Tax Cut and unemployment benefits, but that was due to the pressure from the TEA Party contingent within the GOP, not from a position of leadership.

By any measure, in the face of the purposeful shredding of our Constitution and the dismantling of our democratic republic by the Lying King, it is increasingly apparent that the GOP suffers from a profuse absence of leadership.

Video from Tea Party Town Hall meeting with Rep. Bill Cook

Rep. Bill Cook, R-Beaufort/Pitt, held a Town Hall session sponsored by the Beaufort Patriot Tea Party on April 21. We have the video of most of that meeting below. The first video is the welcome and introduction:

The next video begins a review by Rep Cook of the bills he has sponsored or co-sponsored this session:

In the third video Rep Cook identifies some of the major issues facing the General Assembly during the remainder of the session and invites those in attendance to offer their ideas, suggestions and recommendations on those, or any other issue:

The participation by the audience begins in video four. Most, but not all of the speakers were captured but unfortunately some were omitted when speakers' comments ran beyond the video segments time constraints. Although speakers were asked to do so, not all identified themselves, as you will see.

The fifth video is simply a continuation of the Q & A:

The final video continues the Q & A and the wrap-up:

THE BEAUFORT PATRIOT TEA PARTY IS SPONSORING A TOWN HALL MEETING, THURSDAY APRIL 21. 2010 IN WASHINGTON, NC WITH REPRESENTATIVE BILL COOK

Press Release

For immediate release
Timely until Thursday, April 21, 2010

THE BEAUFORT PATRIOT TEA PARTY IS SPONSORING A TOWN HALL MEETING, THURSDAY APRIL 21. 2010 IN WASHINGTON, NC WITH REPRESENTATIVE BILL COOK

Rep. Bill Cook, representative from NC House District 6 (Beaufort, NE Pitt) will be hosting a “town hall” meeting on Thursday, April 21, 2010 beginning at 7:00 p.m. in the Second Floor Superior Court Room in the Beaufort County Courthouse at 112 W. 2nd St. Street in Washington, N. C. The public is invited to attend, regardless of partisan persuasion.

Rep Cook will share what is happening in the General Assembly in a brief presentation and then the floor will be open for questions and comments from those attending. The focus should be on issues and items of concern related to the state legislature. It will not be necessary to sign up to speak but speakers will be asked to identify themselves. The press will report on the meeting and this may include audio and video taping which may be made public. Other legislators who may choose to attend will also be recognized and offered an opportunity to make comments and/or respond to questions.

Rep. Cook said: “I look forward to meeting with constituents of the Sixth District on April 21. While I have attended many meetings around the district I am especially happy to host this Town Hall style meeting. I’ll try to brief people attending on what has been going on in Raleigh but I am even more interested in listening. I hope people will come out and help us do a better job of representing them by expressing their ideas, comments and particularly their suggestions.

Our state is facing some critical decisions, especially with regard to the budget. While it is natural for everyone to want to preserve their particular interest, we are at a point where we need as many suggestions for how we can hold down the cost of government as we can get. I hope we will get some good suggestions along these lines on the 21st."
