WAIT UNTIL YOU SEE JUST HOW MANY REGULATIONS WERE PASSED IN 2013: ‘EXECUTIVE BRANCH…IMPOSES ITS WILL’

The Blaze, January 10, 2014

Last year was a productive year in Washington, if productivity can be measured in new regulations, as many on the left typically do.

Federal agencies issued 3,659 final rules in 2013, compared to Congress which passed 65 laws signed by President Barack Obama, according to a study by the Competitive Enterprise Institute, a free market think tank. That’s a ratio of 56 regulations imposed by unelected federal bureaucrats for every one law enacted by elected representatives.

Wayne Crews, author of the study, said the flood of executive branch undermines constitutional principles, The Hill newspaper reported.

“The deterioration of the Constitution’s separation of, and balance of, powers means that regulators and bureaucrats now make most laws,” Crews wrote. “Congress is so 1789, after all.”

American Thinker: Showing How Government Fails

By Bruce Walker, January 4, 2014

The debacle of ObamaCare may do what conservatives have been trying to do for a long time: show ordinary Americans the depth of government incompetence.  Businesses have grasped since FDR the sting of the quip "I'm from the government -- I'm here to help you."  The hyper-regulation by the federal government of nearly every aspect of commerce and industry through an ever-growing leviathan of laws, regulations, judicial decisions, and executive actions has stunted and even crippled huge swaths of private enterprise in America.  Almost any small business can recount at least one horror story that cost our nation productive activity, reduced meaningful employment, and closed off areas of potential growth in our economy.

Many Americans, however, have generally been shown only the sunny side of the federal government.  Those who do not run or manage businesses, who do not pay federal taxes, and who do not have to deal with the profound inanity of government bureaucrats may live their lives seeing only "goodies" like Social Security, welfare-state entitlements, and countless "feel good" advocacy programs notionally on their behalf.  Read more.

Washington and business brace for an Obama wave of regulations - The Hill's RegWatch

Washington and business brace for an Obama wave of regulations - The Hill's RegWatch

President Obama has begun to wield the power of the executive to press forward with a second-term agenda that delights the left and terrifies the right.

When he said "we must act" in his inaugural address last week, liberals cheered him on, and conservatives saw that the electoral earthquake of November is likely to be followed by a tsunami of executive orders and regulations.

Lawmakers, lobbyists and policy groups say they are expecting a deluge of new rules from agencies across the federal government.

“They’re going to try to do with regulation what they cannot do with legislation,” said Mike House of Hogan & Lovells, a law and lobbying firm whose clients include businesses and trade groups.

Advocacy groups and liberal lawmakers are drawing up wish lists of new regulations that would cover everything from air pollution to vehicle safety to labor protections. And that doesn’t include a torrent of forthcoming rules required by the healthcare law and the Dodd-Frank financial reform act.

Morning Bell: The 10 Worst Regulations of 2012

It seems that no aspect of American life can escape government regulation. In the past year, regulators drafted rules that addressed everything from caloric intake to dishwasher efficiency.

Most of these rules increase the cost of living, others hinder job creation, and many erode freedom. Not all regulations are unwarranted, of course, but increasingly, the rules imposed by the government have less to do with health and safety and more to do with whether government or individuals get to make basic pocketbook and lifestyle decisions that affect them. And it is not just the regulators who are to blame. Congress writes laws that give unelected bureaucrats the broad powers they wield.

Today we bring you 10 of the worst regulations from 2012:

1. HHS’s Contraception Mandate
The Department of Health and Human Services on February 15 finalized its mandate that allhealth insurance plans include coverage for abortion-inducing drugs, sterilization procedures, and contraceptives. To date, 42 cases with more than 110 plaintiffs are challenging this restriction on religious liberty.

2. EPA Emissions Standards
The EPA in February finalized strict new emissions standards for coal- and oil-fired electric utilities. The benefits are highly questionable, with the vast majority being unrelated to the emissions targeted by the regulation. The costs, however, are certain: an estimated $9.6 billion annually.

3. Fuel Efficiency Standards
In August, the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration, in tandem with the Environmental Protection Agency, finalized fuel efficiency standards for cars and light trucksfor model years 2017–2025. The rules require a whopping average fuel economy of 54.5 miles per gallon by 2025. Sticker prices will jump by hundreds of dollars.

AMERICAN THINKER: LLOYD MARCUS-- Refuting Obama's Attack on Small Business

Our favorite restaurant fell by the wayside and closed. Mary and I saw a new sign on the building and pulled our car at the entrance to see if they were open for business. The new owner, a middle aged Asian gentleman, rushed outside to greet us.

He said his grand opening was three weeks away. He then enthusiastically began promoting his new restaurant; explaining how it was going to be so much better than the previous restaurant. His passion was infectious. Mary and I left excited about giving his new venture a try.

I thought, this guy is what America is all about. Obamanomics has wreaked havoc on small business. Still, this man is willing to take the risk and go for it.

Folks, I cannot begin to tell you how much it frosts me that Obama uses class envy to portray small business owners such as this restaurateur as selfish greedy bad guys.

The liberal mindset reasoning that the boss is always the bad guy baffles me. Approximately half of new small businesses fail within the first two years. With all of the silly and outrageous nanny government cost incurring regulations, the failure rate is rapidly increasing.

So, when a small business owner survives the maze of control freak intrusive regulations, meets payroll and all of the other challenges which come with being the boss, Obama believes it is evil for the business owner to take home a check much larger than his workers.

Well excuse me Mr. President, but the boss took the risk, providing employment for employees who can simply punch out at five o'clock and forget about the business until the next day. The boss, perceived by liberals to be selfish, greedy and evil, is mentally, physically or emotionally engaged with his business 24/7.

A liberal posted on my Facebook wall, "You conservative Christians forget that Jesus was a socialist." Apparently, this person is unfamiliar with Jesus' Parable of the Talents.
