Who Funds The Far Left? You’ll Be Surprised

The Center for American Progress is a left-wing organization that is closely associated with the Obama administration. Its principal product is a web site called Think Progress. Think Progress is part of the internet cesspool that modern liberalism has become. Written by hack left-wing bloggers, it is bitterly hostile to free enterprise. It is a low-rent site that traffics in the most absurd smears and conspiracy theories. Many have wondered for some years who finances far-left web sites like Think Progress. As of today, we know at least part of the answer, as CAP released its corporate donor list for the first time.

CAP says that individuals and foundations account for more than 90% of its funding, and corporations only around 6%. It would be interesting to see the individual and foundation donor list; my guess is that left-wing foundations, most of which spend money left by dead conservatives, would loom large. But what corporations fund Think Progress’s anti-free enterprise propaganda? The full list is here; it includes:

IL Common Core School Assignment Requires Parents to Self-Identify as Conservative or Liberal

A recent Common Core assignment sent home from an Oak Forest, Illinois high school requires parents to self-identify as conservative or liberal.

An assignment sent home from an Oak Forest, IL high school government class is raising eyebrows among parents who are shocked by the questionnaire they and their children are required to fill out. The questionnaire (below) has the parents identify their positions on a number of highly-charged issues, and then places them on a “political spectrum.”
The survey is part of Oak Forest High School’s Common Core curriculum, which according is to …”provide a consistent, clear understanding of what students are expected to learn, so teachers and parents know what they need to do to help them.”

Letter to the Editor: The Fourth Party, by CCTA Member, Lou Call

November 21, 2013

The Fourth Party..

Perhaps the most telling thing about Obamacare is its supporters and their unquestioningly loyalty to their messiah.  Forget, for a minute, that the government takeover of health care is yet another example of Socialism. Combined that with higher premiums to provide government subsidies for lower income recipients, the ‘redistribution of wealth, and you have one of the tenants of Marxism

But perhaps I’m being unfair to those who march to the beat of the liberal Democratic Party drum; they do refer to themselves as Democrats.

Yet Regardless of the tempo of the political drum we march to, we fall into one of three political voting categories.  There is a fourth Party and perhaps there is an easy way to define it.

Founded in 1866, the Ku Klux Klan (KKK) extended into almost every southern state by 1870 and became a vehicle for white southern resistance to the Republican Party's Reconstruction-era policies aimed at establishing political and economic equality for blacks. The KKK had as its primary goal–the reestablishment of white supremacy–fulfilled through Democratic victories in state legislatures across the South.

I think it’s safe to say that anyone who adheres to and supports the ideology of the Ku Klux Klan should be labeled a ‘Racist’. And I believe it’s fair to say that those staunch supporters of Obama and his left wing administration have earned the title of Socialist.

The time is at hand when people need to realize that the political banner they wave reflexes and defines them. Those who have chosen to align themselves with Obama and support his ideologies should cast off the term, Democrat. It is clear that Obama has nothing but disdain for our Constitution which has guided our Nation for 237 years and his ideologies are clearly steeped in Socialism and Marxism.

The question remains, does he speak for you?

The middle class or the middle men? | WashingtonExaminer.com

Washington Examiner
By Sen. Mike Lee
July 24. 2013

Today, President Obama will - for the eighth time in five years - officially "pivot" his attention back to the economy.
Unfortunately, word is that the president's remarks will not include any new policy initiatives, but merely repackage ones he has proposed before.
In other words, five years into office, four years since the recessions supposedly ended, and three years since his administration declared "Mission: Accomplished" on the economy (remember "Recovery Summer"?), the president's response is not just to give a speech.
It's to give the exact same speech.
Washington has therefore greeted the news of the president's latest "pivot" with a bit of a shrug. The speech will be more of the same we've heard for five long years - tax increases on the wealthy, more spending on green energy and other fashionable special interests, and Obamacare.
All of the above will be presented as an agenda to support and grow the middle class, which of course Republicans will oppose because they are - the president will insist - the Party of the Rich.
It's a shame the speech is going to be so widely ignored. Because the argument the president is going to make - that bigger government is the only thing that can protect the middle class from our unfair economy - is precisely the argument Republicans are going to have to refute if we ever hope to rebuild a national majority.
The good news is that the president's case is utter nonsense.
Big government is not the solution to unfairness in our economy - it's the cause.
There are three great crises in our economy today, each a crisis of fairness and equality - each caused in large part by the very policies President Obama supports.
First, there is the crisis of upward mobility. In America today, people born in poverty are often trapped there. It's not the free market that forces poor kids into underperforming schools, punishes single parents for getting married, and penalizes people for hard work - it's big government.
Second, there is the crisis of cronyism. If the economy seems rigged these days, that's because it is. Big government, big business, and big special interests manipulate the rules to profit at everyone else's expense.
Companies succeed not by serving customers, but politicians and bureaucrats. In Barack Obama's economy, Wall Street gets a bailout, Solyndra-gets a hand out, liberal interests get a carve-out, and everyone else gets left out.
And finally, there is the crisis of the middle class: stagnant wages, inequality, insecurity, and the exploding costs of housing, health care, and education. Contrary to the president's rhetoric, all of the above are directly tied to federal policy.
Wages rise when small businesses grow. But small businesses can't grow when crony capitalism protects large corporations from smaller competitors. And it's not a coincidence that the industries that have seen the worst inflation - housing, health care, and education - are the very industries controlled by government!
It is liberal big government - Barack Obama's government - that today ensnares the poor, privileges the rich, and squeezes the middle class.

Letter to the Editor: At best, naïve…by CCTA Member, Lou Call

April 22, 2013

Letter to the Editor

At best, naïve…

Sunday’s letter submitted by Mr. Hergenrader illustrates the lack of political acuity in many people today. On the issue of ‘stringent gun control’ he said the following:

“ Firstly, for this to happen the Supreme Court would have to be replaced since a majority would never support such a move. Legislation, if passed by a Congress which is highly dubious, would be ruled unconstitutional by the Supreme Court.”

The influence of liberal progressives in the Supreme Court has been established by Obama in his first term in office. During the remainder of his second term it is very likely that two Supreme Court justices will be retiring to be replaced by appointments made by the president. Considering Obama’s thirst for gun control it is likely that his appointee’s will fall in line with his manifesto of disarming our Nation.

As incredible as this sounds consider what happened when the Senate voted on the issue of the UN Small Arms Treaty. Forty-five Democrats and one Independent voted in favor of the Treaty. It was defeated by a 53-46 vote. The outcome of this vote is simple: 46 members of the Senate were willing to submit the 2nd Amendment to our beloved Constitution to the control of the UN.

As Americans we have a decision to make. We are either going to stand against the forces of Socialism, Marxism and Communism that runs a muck in our Country today or we will quietly submit to those forces.

We were born Americans, not Democrats or Republicans.

I’ve made my decision, what about you?

Letter to the Editor: Is this the future? By CCTA Member, Lou Call

March 25th, 2013

Letter to the Editor

Is this the future?
What you are about to read is a little troubling to say the least; most of you aren’t even aware that this has taken place. The fact that this has happened in New York State would make you believe that we live in North Carolina and it can’t happen here; and you would be wrong.

It gives us a glimpse into the mind of the true liberal progressive and what they have in store of America.

It is no secret that New York State is one of the most hostile environments in the Country when it comes to gun ownership and control. Chris W. Cox, executive director of NRA’s Institute for Legislative Action recently stated that, “Governor Andrew Cuomo and the New York State Legislature usurped the legislative and democratic process in passing extreme anti-gun measures with no committee hearings and no public input. This obvious disrespect for New Yorkers and their Second Amendment rights and will not be tolerated.”

He went on to say that “Despite the wishes of Governor Cuomo, law-abiding citizens have a fundamental right to keep commonly possessed firearms for defense of themselves and their families.”

What Mr. Cox is referring to is the New York State SAFE act; the Secure Ammunition & Firearms Enforcement act. SAFE encourages state residents to report “illegal” gun owners in exchange for a $500 reward. New Yorkers can call a "Gun Tip Line" if they believe someone they know has an illegal gun, according to CBS6Albany.com. Hotline calls are answered by state police and tips are referred to local law enforcement.

Reminiscent of programs in Cuba or the former Soviet Union, the "reward for turning in your neighbor" program is another example of overreaching by the anti-freedom, power-hungry Cuomo administration. It is outrageous, and it is un-American. These Gestapo like tactics were once employed in Germany during the thirties when true Germans were asked to report anyone harboring Jews or in the Soviet Union if your neighbor wasn’t on board with the Stalinist regime.

It can and will happen here unless we as a free people stand up and speak out. If nothing else we owe it to those who came before us who spilled their blood so that our Republic would continue. Our Constitution has stood fast against many internal threats; none greater than those threats of the last four years.

Washington and business brace for an Obama wave of regulations - The Hill's RegWatch

Washington and business brace for an Obama wave of regulations - The Hill's RegWatch

President Obama has begun to wield the power of the executive to press forward with a second-term agenda that delights the left and terrifies the right.

When he said "we must act" in his inaugural address last week, liberals cheered him on, and conservatives saw that the electoral earthquake of November is likely to be followed by a tsunami of executive orders and regulations.

Lawmakers, lobbyists and policy groups say they are expecting a deluge of new rules from agencies across the federal government.

“They’re going to try to do with regulation what they cannot do with legislation,” said Mike House of Hogan & Lovells, a law and lobbying firm whose clients include businesses and trade groups.

Advocacy groups and liberal lawmakers are drawing up wish lists of new regulations that would cover everything from air pollution to vehicle safety to labor protections. And that doesn’t include a torrent of forthcoming rules required by the healthcare law and the Dodd-Frank financial reform act.

Are You Sure You Are a Democrat?

Today's Democrat Party (the party of ABORTION) is NOT THE PARTY OF YOUR PARENTS OR GRANDPARENTS!

One look at the recent NC State Democratic Convention demonstrates the extreme liberal fringe that makes up today’s North Carolina Democratic Party. Resolutions adopted by the NCDP at their convention include:

• A single-payer national healthcare system (which would be significantly to the left of the job-killing monstrosity that is ObamaCare)

• Repeal of the marriage amendment (that was recently approved by 61% of North Carolinians)

• The full legalization of marijuana (not just for medicinal purposes, which is a position to the left of even California Democrats)

• The abandonment of nuclear energy as part of the U.S. energy policy (which would in turn force us to become even more dependent on foreign oil)

• Full abolishment of the death penalty

• A demand for collective bargaining rights for workers (which would be extremely detrimental to attracting new business investment in North Carolina)

• Opposition to state-level immigration reform (while the federal government continues to ignore the issue)

• The creation of a Cabinet-level Department of Peace and Nonviolence (which is just absurd)

These positions are so outside of the mainstream, one wonders if they were even meant to be serious. Of course, you never know what to expect when you’re dealing with the same body that decided to keep their Party Chairman after his role in the cover-up of a sexual harassment scandal, who continue to support the least popular governor in the country (who may have recently committed fraud by altering official documents to protect her pet spending projects), and who just nominated a candidate for governor who has promised to keep the exact same policies as his predecessor.

Liberty v. Tyranny – Joel M. Killion

We have it all wrong! Our modern political view of “Democrat” on the left versus “Republican” on the right is misleading because the political parties are rarely if ever principled. Likewise, the modern mismeasurement which puts communism at the extreme “left” and fascism at the extreme “right” is false because they are simply different names for similar forms of despotism – the police state.

The Founders, on the other hand, had a much more reasonable yardstick by which to gauge government. Here’s what it looked like: On the left-hand side is “Ruler’s Law” (a.k.a. tyranny, where there is too much government, too much political oppression, too much control), on the right-hand side is “No Law” (a.k.a. anarchy, where there is no government, no law, no control), and then, directly between the two is the balanced center or “medium point” of “People’s Law,” (a.k.a. “Common Law”) where Liberty is a reality through a Constitutional, Republican system of self-government. The first Justice of the Supreme Court, James Iredell, commented on this scale when he said, “There are two extremes equally dangerous to liberty. These are tyranny and anarchy. The medium between these two is the true government to protect the people…this Constitution is well calculated to guard against both these extremes.”

Under “Ruler’s Law,” the people are not equal but are divided into social and economic classes, where the thrust of government power is from the ruler down and not from the people upward, where government has the ever-growing power to give or remove the God-given rights of the people, and where rule is determined by the whimsical edicts of men rather than the fixed rule of law. In addition, with a centralized government, freedom is never considered a solution to anything, while problems are always solved by issuing new edicts, creating more bureaus, appointing more administrators, and charging the people more taxes to pay for these “services”; plus, those in power revel in luxury while the common people are enslaved by perpetual poverty, excessive taxation, stringent regulations, and a continuous existence of misery. Sound familiar?

A Letter from NC State Representative Pat McElraft

To the Editor:

As a State Representative, I am fully aware that politics is not for the faint of heart. Any elected official understands that they will be judged on their voting record and I stand on my record over the years. But when people distort that record, you must defend yourself and those who stand with you.

Upon hearing of my legislative colleague Norman Sanderson’s intention of running for State Senate, I promptly endorsed his candidacy. I have personally witnessed his conservative values and work ethic in the State House and have no doubt he will be a strong conservative voice for Carteret, Craven and Pamlico counties. After lending my initial endorsement, I made no other public comment. I thought that was the right thing to do as a Republican to let the candidates fight this out. However, I can no longer remain silent since I, personally, and 67 other Republican Legislators have been brought into this with the latest Randy Ramsey Ad and flyer.

State Senate candidate Randy Ramsey recently aired a radio ad and sent out a mailer that accused Representative Sanderson of voting to implement ObamaCare. I was the co-sponsor of the bill that was referenced (HB115) and it was supported by every Republican member of the House as well as 18 conservative Democrats. Only the most liberal Democrats voted against this largely procedural bill that saved North Carolina taxpayers countless dollars. In fact, the full title of the legislation was An Act to Preserve State-Based Authority to Regulate the North Carolina Health Insurance Market and Prevent Federal Encroachment on State Authority by Establishing the North Carolina Benefit Exchange. As the name implies, it was designed to limit the power of ObamaCare. Randy Ramsey’s blatant misrepresentation of this bill was not only an attack on Norman Sanderson but on every Republican who voted for this piece of common-sense legislation.

The very first piece of business for the Republican led legislature in 2011 was passing House Bill #2, entitled Protect Health Care Freedom. I was proud to co-sponsor that bill with Representative Sanderson, knowing that it protected North Carolina’s citizens from ObamaCare and the overreaching authority of the Federal Government into your health care decisions. That important piece of legislation would be law today if had not been vetoed by Governor Bev Perdue.

For anyone to say that Norman Sanderson, myself or any Republican legislator supports ObamaCare is outrageous and a blatant misrepresentation of the facts. Randy Ramsey has either chosen to resort to distortion in a desperate attempt to gain votes or he has not researched the information his campaign team is releasing. Either way, the practice is unacceptable and should immediately cease.

Beaufort Observer, Letter to the Editor: CCTA Chairman, Nancy Murdoch

Beaufort Observer

A frequent liberal writer recently asked: "If not Obama, who?"

As a conservative, I often find myself voting for the lesser of two evils, and this election cycle proves to be no differently. How did a country founded on the idea of personal freedom allow the government to have more power than any individual? How did we lose the idea of personal responsibility and replace it with the Marxist ideas of the collective? How did we reach the place where almost half of the country relies on the government for their welfare? Why have we lost the pioneer spirit and replaced it with an entitlement mentality, and why do so many Americans find that acceptable?

Even though there are many contributing factors I believe the major one is education. Up until the early 1900's our citizens revered, studied and understood our Founding documents and our Founders. (Now even our elected officials have little knowledge about the Constitution, and most of our citizens believe all the Founders were rich, slave-owning white men.)

In 1905, Harry W. Laidler and Norman Thomas met with 100 people in NY and established the Intercollegiate Socialist Society (ISS), establishing chapters in colleges and universities. Laider stated the aim was "to throw light on the world-wide movement of industrial democracy known as socialism". Members of the government, press, radio and motion picture industry were among the early recruits.

The first president who openly reviled the Constitution was Woodrow Wilson. He also introduced the phrase "make the world safe for democracy". (Find the word democracy in the Constitution...it's not there, nor in our pledge of allegiance.) Soon the press and schoolbooks began referring to America as a democracy.

Due to the conflicts in Russia (USSR) the word socialism fell out of favor, so in typical fashion the name of the ISS was changed to The League for Industrial Democracy. Their slogan: "Production for use, not for profit". The use of the word democracy became so common that in 1928 the U.S. Army's Training Manual published a section explaining the difference between democracy and a republic. Apparently few read the manual or the people who needed to read it, did not.

The progressives and socialists have been working to dismantle our Founding documents for over 100 years. Many Americans are angry, and intend to fight the Federal propaganda network, known as the education system. We believe all Americans deserve the freedoms promised in the Declaration of Independence.

Strategy Memo Details Liberal PR Plan to Promote Obamacare

The White House and its liberal allies are planning a comprehensive public-relations campaign for the second anniversary of Obamacare and the Supreme Court oral arguments that will take place later this month.

A four-page strategy memo obtained by The Heritage Foundation outlines the strategies and messaging planned for the coming weeks. The memo, which is published below, includes a day-by-day breakdown of how the White House and liberal advocacy organizations want to frame the debate. The New York Times first reported on the Obama administration’s coordination efforts, including a White House meeting last week with more than 100 people present. The Center for American Progress, Families USA, Health Care for America Now, and Protect Your Care are among the groups mentioned on the memo.

Liberal Pastor Jim Wallis: America Is ‘Not a Christian Nation

It‘s Never Been a Christian Nation’

Pastor Jim Wallis’ support for the Occupy Wall Street movement and his leftist inclinations are widely documented. The progressive pastor, who has served as a faith adviser to President Barack Obama, is no stranger to controversy. In an interview that will air nationwide at Lifetree Café locations in the coming days, Wallis made some startling statements about America’s history and heritage.

Lifetree is a weekly, coffee shop-like environment and event series in which individuals come together to explore issues related to God and culture. These events are planned at locations — mainly churches — around the nation and sometimes feature pre-taped videos. In a video to be aired this week, Wallis made the bold claim that America is not a Christian nation.

Liberal SuperPAC Targets Tea Party Reps and Their ‘Downright Crazy Actions and Beliefs’

January 30, 2012
THE BLAZE

ActBlue, a non-profit political committee who describes themselves as “the online clearinghouse for Democratic action,“ has waged war on a group of Republican legislators who they label ”the Tea Party Ten” via their own “CREDO” SuperPAC. The “Take Down the Tea Party Ten” campaign is aiming to collect donations to help take down 10 members of Congress, naming the frist six Monday; Reps. Sean Duffy (R-Wis.), Steve King (R-Iowa), Allen West (R-Fla), Joe Walsh (R-Ill.), Frank Guinta (R-N.H.), and Chip Cravaack (R-Minn.) The CREDO fundraising page at ActBlue.com reads:

“These Tea Party extremists in Congress have spent the last year attacking women, science and the very notion of equality under the law.

Their racist, sexist, anti-science, hypocritical, corrupt and downright crazy actions and beliefs make them unfit to serve in Congress.

We need your help to take them down.”

John Hawkins: 15 Questions The Mainstream Media Would Ask Barack Obama If He Were A Republican

During the practically endless series of Republican debates, we have heard almost every question imaginable asked to Republican candidates – if by every question imaginable, you mean horribly slanted, often irrelevant questions designed to make them look bad and help Obama. We've heard questions about contraceptives, religion, Newt's angry ex-wife, Gardasil, etc., etc., etc. So, what would happen if the mainstream media treated Barack Obama the exact same way that they treat Republicans? The questions might sound a little something like this.

Can Republicans Impeach Obama Over Recess Appointment?

As Todd Gaziano of the Heritage Foundation explained:

[The recess appointment] power has been interpreted by scores of attorneys general and their designees in the Department of Justice Office of Legal Counsel for over 100 years to require an official, legal Senate recess of at least 10-25 days of duration. (There are a few outlier opinions, never sanctioned by the courts, that suggest a recess of six to seven days might be enough–but never less than that.)

The President’s purported recess appointment of Cordray would render the Senate’s advice and consent role to normal appointments almost meaningless. It is a grave constitutional wrong that Senator Mitch McConnell (R-KY) has already denounced. But it fits a pattern of extra-constitutional abuse by the White House that seems more interested in energizing a liberal base than safeguarding the office of the presidency.

Experts say this kind of non-recess appointment is unprecedented in American history —another historic Obama first.

As Andrew Grossman of the Heritage Foundation has pointed out, even Obama did not really believe the Senate was in recess. This was a plain act of authoritarianism.

Twas the Night Before Liberal Christmas 2011

‘Twas the night before liberal Christmas, and all ‘cross the land,
The mood on the left was somber, their rhetoric quite bland.

Children they huddled in town squares with hands out,
The Occupy protestors beat cops and did shout.

Few were still listening to their rants and their cries,
But shout them they would, and promote their Big Lies.

While I was all snuggled, tightly wrapped up in my bed,
I really couldn’t care less of the things that they said.

50 Most Dangerous Liberals in America

After less than two years of watching a far-Left administration and Congress show their contempt for the citizenry and pursue a radical agenda that only hyper-liberal-progressive voters could support, the nation woke up and realized the disaster highlighted by the 2008 election of Barack Obama: Liberals had been given way too much power. Americans have witnessed with disgust the progressives' efforts to tear at the very fabric of America. We don't want to "radically transform" the country. We don't want to reject our founding principles of liberty and limited government. We love our Constitution and respect it.

The midterms were a rejection of the Left. But that's where we must be careful -- like a wounded animal, liberals are dangerous when exposed and backed into a corner.

The Townhall editorial staff saw the threat radical liberals are to our country and compiled a list of those who pose the greatest danger to the future of the republic. The toughest part was limiting the list to 50, but we did it. We had two requirements: 1) They had to be living, which is one reason Saul Alinsky didn't make the list; and 2) they had to be based in America, thus no Julian Assange of WikiLeaks fame.

One thing subscribers have quickly noted: Neither Bill nor Hillary Clinton made the list. Tells you something about the people who did, doesn't it?

#1 GEORGE SOROS

Businessman and Billionaire Liberal Financier; Founder and Chairman of Open Society Foundations.

George Soros, the main “money bags” of the Left who is responsible for taking down entire economies on his own by betting against weak currencies, has a disturbing personal history. He grew up in a Jewish, yet anti-Semitic, home in Hungary during the Nazi occupation of Europe and calls it the happiest time of his life.

Sun Journal Letter to the Editor by CCTA Member, Jan Parys: Government Waste

November 21, 2011

Thank you so much for exposing the Housing Authority in New Bern. Having worked in the Department of Education and Department of Health, I saw so much waste it made me leave. It was so dishonest to take a salary there with so little actual work.

There is so much more waste that is not exposed even within Craven County. Liberals believe they are entitled to our tax dollars. The American public needs to know that BO has wasted $535 million in taxpayer dollars to subsidize a failing company owned by one of his biggest financial supporters. His administration kept quiet on Solyndra even after he knew it was nearly bankrupt and even gave it more money in a desperate attempt to keep it afloat. There are plans to spend another billion dollars on more “green technology” companies that produce products the American people don’t want or need. More than one “green” company has received our tax dollars with no profit for the people.

How many know about BO’s friend at GE, Jeffrey Immelt, who donated time and money to his presidency and then served as his top outside economic adviser on jobs? Immelt sent 21,000 jobs abroad. He also put his money in an off shore account to avoid paying some US taxes. Is that patriotic? I don’t think so. I think it is wrong to reward Immelt for donating to a campaign.
