Energy Efficiency – Suspension - Vote Passed (398-2, 1 Present, 30 Not Voting)
In a rare moment of bipartisan agreement on an energy measure, the House came together to pass a bill clarifying federal efficiency standards for a variety of heavy appliances, including air conditioners and commercial refrigerators (excluding walk-in refrigerators). Though the measure appears uncontroversial, its prospects are not clear in the Senate given the crowded calendar.

Global Internet Governance – Adoption - Vote Passed (397-0, 34 Not Voting)
The House unanimously agreed to Senate language expressing the sense of Congress that the Internet should remain “free from government control.” The concurrent resolution was adopted amid the backdrop of a meeting of the International Telecommunications Union (ITU), a United Nations body broadly responsible for fostering cooperation among governments and the private sector on international telecommunications governance. Technology companies such as Google have voiced concern that the ITU conference could lead to adoption of restrictive regulations making it easier for national governments to censor content.

Amending Language in Federal Law – Suspension - Vote Passed (398-1, 32 Not Voting)
In its final action of the week, the House cleared a Senate bill that would remove the pejorative “lunatic” from the United States Code. The lone House dissenter was Texas Republican Louie Gohmert, who insisted that lunatic should be retained, pointing to his fellow Members of Congress as living, breathing examples of the term. The bill awaits the president’s signature.

If you're reading this, there's still hope. TheDC's Josh Peterson reports: "Texas Republican Sen. Kay Bailey Hutchison said Tuesday that a Senate vote to overturn the FCC's net neutrality rules might come as early as next week. The vote would happen just days ahead of November 20, when the rules are scheduled to take effect.
Hutchison said the necessary number of senators' signatures have been obtained for the petition — the Resolution of Disapproval — to consider the FCC's net neutrality regulations under the Congressional Review Act. The CRA, which gives Congress the authority to review every new regulation issued by federal agencies, would allow opponents of the FCC's rules to force a vote and overrule the regulation.
'We are hoping that next week we will be able to get the Resolution of Disapproval on the floor,' said Hutchison. 'We have over 40 signatures to have the expedited Congressional authority to take this resolution up, and the House has already passed it. It now rests in the Senate.'
Supporters of net neutrality argue that Internet service providers should not be allowed to favor some content over others; opponents argue that the FCC is trying to fix a non-problem. 'The Internet is not broken and does not need fixing,' Hutchison told the audience at The Heritage Foundation's blogger’s briefing. Hutchison said that there should have at least been a congressional debate about the matter."
Debate? Everybody knows that debate is merely the process by which a normal person gives up trying to reason with a Democrat. Well, the Internet will be a lot better once the government controls it. You know, like TV and radio? The things you used to rely on before the Internet?

The Obama Administration is pushing the creation of an Internet identity scheme called the National Strategies for Trusted Identities in Cyberspace. Their plans include developing federal online identity for every American. Officials claim a national ID will reduce Internet fraud, theft, and make the Internet safer. In reality, it will give Obama full access to your private information and allow Big Brother to monitor ALL your Internet activity! NONE of our freedoms are safe from Obama!
Howard Schmidt, the White House Cybersecurity Coordinator admitted, “It’s the absolute perfect spot in the U.S. government” to centralize efforts toward creating an “identity ecosystem.”

In January, a White House official said, “President Obama is planning to hand the U.S. Commerce Department authority over a forthcoming cybersecurity effort to create an Internet ID for Americans.”
Commerce Secretary, Gary Locke has denied that the “Trusted Internet Identity” is any form of an Internet ID. Well, if you need identification from the government to conduct your online business that certainly sounds like an Internet ID. What’s next, an ID to buy a loaf of bread?
Unless you and I act today, Obama will ruthlessly advance his socialist-style Internet ID until it becomes the LAW OF THE LAND. But we can stop this outrageous encroachment on our privacy. Bury Congress with faxes and tell them: “Stop Obama’s aggressive assault on our freedom - NOW!“
Obama’s motivation to shove the Internet ID down our throats is CONTROL. He wants to CONTROL the websites you visit, CONTROL your access to real information (not propaganda), and CONTROL your right to log onto the Internet as you please. If we let the government get their hands on our access to the World Wide Web, there will be NO end to their freedom-grabbing pillage.
Obama and his Liberal buddies have already nationalized Chrysler and GM and pretty much usurped the entire banking industry. Now, they want to get their hands on the last bastion of freedom – the Internet! Enough is enough! We must stop Obama’s Internet grab before it’s too late!
