Time to pull out of LBJ’s War On Poverty

I think it was Albert Einstein who once said the definition of insanity is doing the same thing over and over again, expecting different results.

Statists in Congress are arguing — in the current unemployment insurance debate — that the government needs to spend even more money we don’t have to “help” those in economic distress.  Democrats in Raleigh’s General Assembly — aided by their media allies and The Round Rev’s Moral Monday rabble — are attacking Republicans for trying to get the state’s fiscal House in order and not turning the welfare spigot on full-throttle.

Liberals almost immediately protest any conventional military action by the United States. Yet, they have stuck with this so-called “War on Poverty” for 50 years.

ON ELECTION DAY--Please read for Heaven's Sake!

It is starting to heat up in the elections. I received the following information in an e-mail and just cleaned it up and added this opening. I can not state emphatically enough that Obama, democrats and progressives will lie to the American people every time they get the chance to open their mouths. The main stream liberal propaganda media will inundate the news with these lies from now to Election Day. After all, they booed 3 times about putting God in their party platform, so they obviously have no moral standards. Social security has been a pet peeve of mine or awhile now. Mainly because the democrats, with rino republician help over the years, have stolen mine and your money. They have been redistributing it in the finest communist fashion for years. Don’t get your knickers in a wad; just read this short lesson, and check it out for yourself, you do your own homework. You can not trust our representatives anymore.

History Lesson on Your Social Security Card

Just in case some of you young people and older ones didn't know this.

It's easy to check out, if you don't believe it. We need a little history lesson on what's what and it doesn't matter whether you are Democrat or Republican. Facts are Facts.

Social Security Cards up until the 1980s expressly stated the number and card were not to be used for identification purposes. Since nearly everyone in the United States now has a number, it became convenient to use it anyway and the message, NOT FOR IDENTIFICATION, was removed.

Our Social Security

Franklin Roosevelt, a Democrat, introduced the Social Security (FICA) Program. He promised:

1.) That participation in the Program would be completely voluntary,

-----No longer Voluntary

2.) That the participants would only have to pay 1% of the first $1,400 of their annual Incomes into the Program.

----Now it’s 7.65% on the first $90,000

3.) That the money the participants elected to put into the program would be deductible from their income for tax purposes each year.

----No longer tax deductible

4.) That the money the participants put into the independent 'Trust Fund' rather than into the general operating fund, and therefore, would only be used to fund the Social Security Retirement Program, and no other Government.

----Under Johnson the money was moved to the General Fund and Spent

5.) That the annuity payments to the retirees would never be taxed as income.

----Under Clinton & Gore up to 85% of your Social Security can be taxed.

Since many of us have paid into FICA for years and are now receiving a Social Security check every month and then finding that we are getting taxed on 85% of the money we paid to the Federal government to “put away” you may be interested in the following:

Q: Which Political Party took Social Security from the independent 'Trust Fund' and put it into the general fund so that Congress could spend it?

A: It was Lyndon Johnson and the democratically controlled House and Senate.

Q: Which Political Party eliminated the income tax deduction for Social Security (FICA) withholding?

A: The Democratic Party.

Q: Which Political Party started taxing SocialSecurity annuities?

A: The Democratic Party, with Al Gore casting the 'tie-breaking' deciding vote as President of the Senate, while he was Vice President of the US

Q: Which Political Party decided to start giving annuity payments to immigrants?

AND MY FAVORITE:

A: That's right!  Jimmy Carter and the Democratic Party. Immigrants moved into this country, and at age 65, began to receive Social Security payments! The Democratic Party gave these payments to them, even though they never paid a dime into it! Is this why it is going broke???????

Then, after violating the original contract (FICA), the Democrats turn around and tell you that the Republicans want to take your Social Security away!  (As Nancy Pelosi would say, "Are you serious!" ~ Lynn)

And the worst part about it is uninformed citizens believe it!

If enough people read this, maybe a seed of awareness will be planted and maybe changes will evolve. It's worth a try.

The welfare state is destroying America

First of a five-part series.

President Franklin D. Roosevelt signed the Social Security Act into law on Aug. 14, 1935, laying what he described as a "cornerstone" of the modern welfare state.


At the time, Roosevelt claimed that the sweeping program would, "act as a protection to future administrations against the necessity of going deeply into debt to furnish relief to the needy."

He was right about the "cornerstone" part, as both parties built on the program in the decades that followed. In 1965, President Lyndon Johnson brought us Medicare and Medicaid.

In 2003, President George W. Bush and a Republican Congress added prescription drug coverage for seniors. And just last year, President Obama pushed a national health care law through Congress.

But Roosevelt was dead wrong that the program would help the nation avoid deep debt. Social Security and the entitlement programs that followed its legacy of seeking to protect citizens from the "hazards and vicissitudes of life," turned out to be fiscal disasters.

With health care costs rising and the population aging, America's welfare-state obligations are bringing the country to its financial knees. If left unchecked, the growing debt burden will not only trigger runaway inflation and stifling taxes, but it will also threaten national security.

Spending on Social Security, Medicare, Medicaid and Obamacare alone currently account for 46 percent -- or nearly half of -- federal spending, excluding interest payments. Over the next 25 years, that percentage will explode to 66 percent, or close to two-thirds, according to the Congressional Budget Office..

Numbers associated with the nation's debt crisis are almost too staggering to comprehend. Last month, total U.S. debt surpassed $15 trillion. But a recent analysis by Boston University economics professor Laurence Kotlikoff found that when long-term entitlement obligations are considered, the true fiscal gap is $211 trillion.
