Conservatives Actually Suck at This

John Boehner can do whatever the heck he wants to. The GOP could be making the argument that the White House has offered nothing on spending and the American people want spending cuts as much as they are okay with tax increases, but instead John Boehner will publicly negotiate with himself.

And he can. He can throw conservatives off fiscal committees without consequence.

Conservatives can complain, moan, wail, and scream all they want. They can call for third parties or no parties or sit at home.

It doesn’t really matter. Conservatives suck at this and the leadership knows it.

Leaders of both parties only pay attention to money and serious primary challengers. They have the money advantage. As for conservative primary challengers, conservatives have put up quite a few, but most are terrible, few win, and even fewer win the general election. Conservatives have done better on the Senate side, but some of the folks tea party groups and others stood up to challenge incumbents on the House side were downright embarrassing.

That last bit just turns people off. There’s no sense in putting up primary challengers if they don’t have a shot to actually win. Eventually the bulk of Republican voters will get worn out and go back. In the meantime, the leaders are still leaders and have effective scapegoats to blame.

The fact is conservatives need to show conservatives can win. They can make a first stand in Virginia with Ken Cuccinelli. But they must do more — we must do more.

If conservatives want to show they are not paper tigers, they must actually make concerted efforts in 2014 beating Republican incumbents. Conservatives have a better track record of this than liberals, but have their share of clunkers. They need to give it a full go.

In the past decade, conservatives have also lost a lot of brand recognition. The GOP and “conservatives” are used interchangeably. People now read National Review to find out what Republican leaders are doing instead of conservatives. People check the American Conservative Union scorecard to see how Republican a person is, not how conservative they are. Too many conservative organizations are draining donors dry with no real results to speak of. A heck of a lot of conservative organizations will disappear overnight when their geriatric leaders die because they’ve become too wrapped up in the identity of their leader, not in the cause they have long claimed to serve.

Some of these groups are stifling the regeneration of the conservative movement through hoarding donors, co-opting the projects of younger groups only to fail at execution, and otherwise just taking up space as a conservative group when often it’s just an excuse for another cocktail party to give out more awards where the GOP establishment will come and kiss rear ends in the Beltway nonaggression club of uselessness on the right.

ON ELECTION DAY--Please read for Heaven's Sake!

On Election Day help me to clean the terrible BO out of the White House. For the love of God please read this and use the information contained within to help inform the people of our great nation who don’t have a clue what is being done to them. It is well past time to standup for ourselves, our country and our Constitution. May God bless you all…….Bear

It is starting to heat up in the elections. I received the following information in an e-mail and just cleaned it up and added this opening. I can not state emphatically enough that Obama, democrats and progressives will lie to the American people every time they get the chance to open their mouths. The main stream liberal propaganda media will inundate the news with these lies from now to Election Day. After all, they booed 3 times about putting God in their party platform, so they obviously have no moral standards. Social security has been a pet peeve of mine or awhile now. Mainly because the democrats, with rino republician help over the years, have stolen mine and your money. They have been redistributing it in the finest communist fashion for years. Don’t get your knickers in a wad; just read this short lesson, and check it out for yourself, you do your own homework. You can not trust our representatives anymore.

History Lesson on Your Social Security Card

Just in case some of you young people and older ones didn't know this.

It's easy to check out, if you don't believe it. We need a little history lesson on what's what and it doesn't matter whether you are Democrat or Republican. Facts are Facts.

Social Security Cards up until the 1980s expressly stated the number and card were not to be used for identification purposes. Since nearly everyone in the United States now has a number, it became convenient to use it anyway and the message, NOT FOR IDENTIFICATION, was removed.

Our Social Security

Franklin Roosevelt, a Democrat, introduced the Social Security (FICA) Program. He promised:

1.) That participation in the Program would be completely voluntary,

-----No longer Voluntary

2.) That the participants would only have to pay 1% of the first $1,400 of their annual Incomes into the Program.

----Now it’s 7.65% on the first $90,000

3.) That the money the participants elected to put into the program would be deductible from their income for tax purposes each year.

----No longer tax deductible

4.) That the money the participants put into the independent 'Trust Fund' rather than into the general operating fund, and therefore, would only be used to fund the Social Security Retirement Program, and no other Government.

----Under Johnson the money was moved to the General Fund and Spent

5.) That the annuity payments to the retirees would never be taxed as income.

----Under Clinton & Gore up to 85% of your Social Security can be taxed.

Since many of us have paid into FICA for years and are now receiving a Social Security check every month and then finding that we are getting taxed on 85% of the money we paid to the Federal government to “put away” you may be interested in the following:

Q: Which Political Party took Social Security from the independent 'Trust Fund' and put it into the general fund so that Congress could spend it?

A: It was Lyndon Johnson and the democratically controlled House and Senate.

Q: Which Political Party eliminated the income tax deduction for Social Security (FICA) withholding?

A: The Democratic Party.

Q: Which Political Party started taxing SocialSecurity annuities?

A: The Democratic Party, with Al Gore casting the 'tie-breaking' deciding vote as President of the Senate, while he was Vice President of the US

Q: Which Political Party decided to start giving annuity payments to immigrants?

AND MY FAVORITE:

A: That's right!  Jimmy Carter and the Democratic Party. Immigrants moved into this country, and at age 65, began to receive Social Security payments! The Democratic Party gave these payments to them, even though they never paid a dime into it! Is this why it is going broke???????

Then, after violating the original contract (FICA), the Democrats turn around and tell you that the Republicans want to take your Social Security away!  (As Nancy Pelosi would say, "Are you serious!" ~ Lynn)

And the worst part about it is uninformed citizens believe it!

If enough people read this, maybe a seed of awareness will be planted and maybe changes will evolve. It's worth a try.

Actions speak louder than bumper stickers

Imagine How America Can Look on November 7

As We the People prepare to vote in what may be the most vital election in our history, it is well that we be reminded of the huge stakes involved, and, most importantly, what we CAN DO by acting responsibly in the privacy of the voting booth.  Imagine, a president who has a passionate love for the history, tradition, and values of America, including blemishes and frailties, and is completely dedicated to preservation of our culture and values. Imagine, a president who respects the rule of law, the US Constitution, the Bill of Rights, and the separation of powers under our form of self- rule. Imagine, a president loathe to apologize for American values, religion, or leaders while on foreign soil.

  • Imagine, a president who really believes in the Exceptionalism of America’s people, Constitution, and culture.
  • Imagine a president NOT so arrogant and delusional as to believe that he is capable of, and should, “fundamentally transform” the greatest nation in human history.
  • Imagine, a president who respects the fact that we are a nation of laws, including those which significantly limit his powers and ability to act unilaterally.
  • Imagine, a president who believes in free-market capitalism, private enterprise, and the capabilities of individual Americans, when free from excessive government regulations, bureaucrats, and tax burdens.
  • Imagine, a president who understands that only private enterprise creates and sustains good-paying jobs, and then only when government is kept at bay.
  • Imagine, a president who believes that, “You CAN Build That!”

Will Obama Leave The US In Shambles If He Loses The Election?

Just like a spoiled child who doesn’t know the word “NO”, I believe that if Obama loses the upcoming election, he and his communist regime will do everything in their lame-duck power to destroy America to a point of no return for the incoming President. New information on five treaties that are currently being negotiated by Hillary Clinton and other members of the regime’s state department could spell grave danger to the soverignty of the United States of America.

It is imperative that We the People keep the pressure up on our Senators to NOT ratify these treaties. This regime is selling America out to the United Nations, therefore giving them the power to override the US Constitution. If these treaties are ratified, any future President’s hands would be tied. This would surely be Obama’s last laugh at OUR country’s expense.

On May 1st, 2012 (mayday), Obama signed another executive order declaring international law for the United States which can be viewed here.
As I said, just like a spoiled child, if Obama can’t have the United States to do with what he wants, NO ONE WILL! Please stay safe, and be aware of your surroundings.

Is contested GOP primary a sign of party’s strength?

Three vie for Republican nomination to NCState House District 3

DISTRICT 3 – For the first time in decades, a trio of Republicans are seeking their party’s nomination to this district’s General Assembly seat in the state House.

Many see the contested primary as a flexing of local GOP muscle. However, it’s safe to say that the candidates themselves – Wayne Langston of Chocowinity, Michael Speciale of New Bern, and Clayton Tripp of Vanceboro -- take little solace from such an observation.

For these gentlemen, the May 8th primary represents the culmination of an expensive, tough campaign – with the winner emerging to take on a well-rested, well-known Beaufort County Democrat, Robert Cayton, who can waltz into the November elections because he has no primary opposition.

Langston, Speciale, and Tripp recently submitted their responses to four identical questions, posed by The County Compass. Although the candidates’ ideologies are similar, astute voters will likely discern subtle differences.

Rick Santorum ends presidential campaign after conceding to Mitt Romney in phone call

After calling Mitt Romney to say he is ending his presidential campaign, Rick Santorum announced the end of his presidential campaign Tuesday during a press conference in Pennsylvania, his home state.

"We will suspend our campaign effective today," Santorum said surrounded by members of his family in Gettysburg.

Santorum spent the weekend off the campaign trail with his three-year-old daughter, Bella, who suffers from a rare genetic disorder, after she was rushed to the hospital Friday.

"We made a decision over the weekend that, while this presidential race for us is over, for me, and we will suspend our campaign effective today, we are not done fighting," he said.

Few thought Santorum would make it this far.

LETTERS TO THE EDITOR: Our Nation in peril by CCTA Member, Lou Call

March 23, 2012
Beaufor Observer
We need to be aware of certain machinations that have occurred in past elections that will continue unless we present a united front to these autocracies and secure an honest representation on Election Day, 2012. I am referring to the need for Voter ID's.

The liberal media will not publish what you are about to read; if you are aware, they are hoping you will forget.

First, ACORN is alive and well operating throughout the Country under different aliases. As an example in New York they are now NYCC, New York Communities for Change and occupy the old ACORN office in Brooklyn. In California it's the ACCE, Alliance of Californians for Community Empowerment. So what's the big deal you ask, they just changed the name.

Well for one thing, Obama and Company are still funding ACORN. One of those ACORN offshoots is the Affordable Housing Centers of America (AHCOA), which was previously known as ACORN Housing. According to Judicial Watch, in July of 2011, they uncovered a $79,819 grant to AHCOA. The Obama administration claimed this grant did not violate the ban because the two organizations were separate and distinct.

An investigative article by columnist Matthew Vadum in the Washington Times on November 28th of 2011 reported that the Obama administration had showered its allies at ACORN Housing with $729,849 so far this year despite powerful, newly unveiled evidence of corruption and massive accounting irregularities at the longtime affiliate of ACORN.

But what about voter fraud (irregularities)? To answer this question we need to look back a few years ago in Nevada when senior ACORN executive Amy Adele Busefink was given a jail sentence of two years for her role in ACORN's fraud-ridden 2008 voter registration drive which procured an astounding 400,000 bogus registrations. (Of course a liberal judge suspended her sentence provided that she abides by the terms of her probation and paid a $4000 fine).

More recently, in Troy New York there is a democratic City Councilmen along with three Democratic operatives who pleaded guilty to felony charges in a voter fraud scandal to try to steal the primary election. Fraudulent Absentee Ballots tied to an ACORN affiliate The Working Families Party were involved.

Still think voter ID is a bad idea? Doesn't it strike you as strange that the majority of opposition over voter ID is coming from left leaning progressives in the democratic party? What can you do to prevent this? You can call, email or write a letter to our Governor demanding that voter ID be placed on the ballot and let the voters decide; be sure to include our State representatives too.

As November draws closer, the year ahead will be a turning point for our great Nation. At stake are the very liberties and freedoms that most of us grew up under. If we allow the Socialists and Marxist to dictate our future, we will have condemned our children and grand children to a life under the dictates of the government. It is that government that will decide the fate of their lives and the direction in which they will go.

WASHINGTON POST: North Carolina Gov. Bev Perdue won’t seek second term, sources say

North Carolina Gov. Bev Perdue (D) is set to announce today that she will not seek reelection in 2012, according to multiple sources familiar with her plans.

Perdue, who turned 65 earlier this month, was set for a rematch of her 2008 race with former Charlotte mayor Pat McCrory (R), but she has been plagued by low approval ratings and faced some tough odds this year.

Perdue’s office did not immediately respond to a request for comment, but the North Carolina Democratic Party confirmed that she will make an announcement — though it didn’t specify what kind of announcement — in a statement around noon today.

Perdue has struggled recently with reports about campaign finance violations, and some top aides to her 2008 campaign have been indicted . Perdue has not personally been implicated in any wrongdoing.

Names that are likely to be bandied about as possible Democratic replacements include Lt. Gov. Walter Dalton, Charlotte Mayor Anthony Foxx, former White House chief of staff Erskine Bowles, and former congressman Bob Etheridge.

Obama Re-Election Campaign Accuses Romney of Being a ‘Corporate Raider’ and Exploiting the Middle Class

Posted on The Blaze, January 14, 2012
The Obama re-election campaign has attacked Mitt Romney’s oft-touted business record, thereby adding to the growing chorus of seemingly anti-business rhetoric aimed at the former Massachusetts governor.

President Obama’s re-election campaign sent out a memo on Friday accusing Mitt Romney of “destroying companies and good-paying jobs in order to reap huge profits,” according to Jamie Dupree of The Atlanta Journal-Constitution.

These are some excerpts from the memo:

… Romney’s objective in business was never job creation.

…Romney closed over a thousand plants, stores and offices, and cut employee wages, benefits and pensions. He laid off American workers and outsourced their jobs to other countries. And he and his partners made hundreds of millions of dollars while taking companies to bankruptcy.

Although some of the businesses in which he took a stake undoubtedly added jobs, neither Romney’s campaign nor any independent fact checker has supported his claim of producing a net increase of 100,000 American jobs – or even anything close to it.

Armed with the facts, the American people will determine whether Mitt Romney’s track record shows he believes our prosperity will come from an economy where the wealthy and powerful can rig the game at the expense of working Americans, or every American who works hard and acts responsibly will have a fair shot at success. Voters can judge for themselves whether his vision for the future is based on outsourcing and bubble economies that enrich speculators and corporate raiders, or an economy built to last in which the productivity of our workers is rewarded.

Canada Free Press: Laser-like Focus

Thursday, January 12, 2012

Michael Oberndorf, RPA

The election of a president in this country has become anything other than a contest among qualified executives willing to work as a public servant to the American people, for four arduous years. Instead, it has become a) a huge, years-long distraction, used by the left to take attention away from the continuous flow of destructive bills, executive orders, regulations, administrative rules, and legislation disguised as judicial rulings from judges at every level of the judiciary; b) a huge business worth several billion dollars, that ties up thousands of people who should be doing something productive, but in fact, do even less of value than the “green energy industry;” and c) as a result of a) and b), keeps people from expending the time and attention needed to elect honest, capable, Constitution-supporting senators and representatives. A quick look at the current Congress and the state of the country should leave not a shadow of a doubt in anyone’s mind that this is true.

The simple truth is that it really doesn’t matter much who is president, if Congress has a majority of members who are honest, honorable men and women who actively support adherence to the Constitution. They are the ones who produce and pass legislation and budgets, not the president. All the president can do is make suggestions and sign or veto what is passed. Indeed, even “executive orders” can be neutered by Congress by refusing to authorize the funding to implement them. With a solid majority in Congress, vetoes can be over-ridden, and corrupt and lawless officials can be impeached, something which the current Congress seems to have completely, and with cowardice aforethought, forgotten.

To illustrate how worthless Congress has become, there are some 28 bills passed by the House, aimed at solving all sorts of budgetary and economic problems, that are trapped by Harry Reid and his lock-step (or should I say goose-step?) Democrats, in Senate committees. Other than some perfunctory and very subdued whining by a few House Republicans, no effort has been made to generate the country-wide public outrage needed to force the Senate to get these bills to the floor for a vote. Claiming that the Senate will only vote the bills down is another phony, misguided concept, used to justify craven inaction. If Democrats and their RINO running dogs vote against bills that contain real solutions to real problems, this becomes – if nothing else - a lethal political club to bludgeon them with in the 2012 elections.

Another fact that has just come out is that in just the past 10 months, the Republican-controlled House, many of whose members got elected on a platform of reducing the deficit, stopping the addictive borrowing and spending, and cutting the budget, has instead, voted to increase spending, and thus the deficit, by over a trillion dollars. Clearly, Obama-Soetoro and the Marxist mafia are not the only ones lying to We, the People. Republican misleaders Boehner, McConnell, et al., and the running dogs in the Republican establishment appear confident that we believe anything they tell us, and that we really weren’t serious about wanting the country to remain a free, capitalist, constitutional republic.

Who can Defeat the Two Most Popular People on Earth?

Penned by JB Williams - (1/7/12):

According to ABC News, The Washington Times and a recent Gallup/USA Today poll, Barack Hussein Obama and Hillary Clinton are the two most popular people in the entire world. The entire world didn’t vote in the poll, a few Americans did. But that’s how we count polls these days…In 2008, the Democrat Party put forth two stone cold losers… A nobody with a totally blank résumé that few had ever heard of before and a lady with so many bones rattling around in her closet, you would have thought there was a voodoo shaman living in there. Deep divisions were created in the Democrat Party when “sure thing” Hillary Clinton was bumped from her high perch by a nobody from nowhere, who didn’t even have a birth certificate to his name. The Clinton War Room had all the dirt on Barack Obama and could have put him away for good in 2008. Why didn’t they and what happens now?

KEN BLACKWELL: A 2012 Conservative Case for America's Future

1/3/2012

Editors' note: this column was co-authored by Ken Klukowski

The United States is at a fork in the road regarding which way we will go as a people. The 2012 election could be the most important in our lifetime, and conservative leaders have reached a consensus on how to channel the energy and concerns of the American people to realize historic change this year.

The status quo will not survive the year. Our debt and spending have reached catastrophic proportions in the context of global financial difficulties and political upheaval. Consequently, by the end of 2012, America will either have taken a decisive step toward socialistic collectivism in the name of “equality” and “social justice,” where businesses and owners are punitively taxed to “pay their fair share,” or America will take a major step in the direction of returning to our Founders’ constitutional government, restoring the rule of law, federalism, free enterprise, and individual initiative and responsibility.

The American people will decide which path to take in the 2012 elections, not only in the general election on November 6 but also in the nominating process in primaries over the next several months for all major offices, including the presidency. Conservatives must act in a concerted and informed fashion in all of these contests to shape the public dialogue and thoroughly vet the candidates.

To achieve these ends, top conservative leaders acting under the umbrella of the Conservative Action Project have released “A Conservative Consensus for 2012” announcing agreement on major policies. These issues span all three wings of the conservative movement: economic, social, and national security.

The Conservative Consensus speaks to economic issues of fundamental tax reform, Obamacare, overhauling regulation, and energy production. It tackles social issues of strengthening families and advocating traditional values and religious liberty. And it covers defense issues of protecting the homeland, military superiority, and national sovereignty.

This document also advocates specific issues all conservatives must regard as essential. America needs a strong Balanced Budget Amendment to the U.S. Constitution that caps federal spending. Immediate and drastic cuts to the federal budget. No corporate bailouts. The Second Amendment right to bear arms is a fundamental right, as is voting, so the ballot box must be protected from fraud and corruption. Because voting is also a citizen’s duty, reasonable conditions must be enacted to safeguard our democratic process. And none of these can succeed unless the right people are appointed as judges to our federal courts.

Achieving these goals is a tremendous challenge, and true constitutional conservatives must relentlessly pursue building a true coalition between the three wings of the conservative movement.

This means that true conservatives must not allow anyone to redefine conservatism as only about fiscal issues and the reach of government. Constitutional conservatives understand that strong families are the essential foundation for long-term economic prosperity. The demographic reality is that declining birth rates and rampant abortion creates a devastating loss of human capital that cannot sustain our entitlement systems or economic growth, and also result in millions of unfilled job positions that become a magnet for illegal immigration.

Fortunately most conservatives understand that national security is crucial to America’s success. But some wrongheaded individuals seek to silence or marginalize social issues, oblivious to the profound reality—proven throughout history—that where families crumble there is an unstoppable public outcry for government to fill the void with massive entitlements and programs. Government always grows when families fail.

Some economic leaders with libertarian or liberal beliefs fail to grasp this simple fact, and so pervert the concept of freedom to mean that individuals are free to do whatever they like, free of any concept of right-and-wrong or of personal responsibility or self-control. They willfully ignore our Founding Fathers, who believed that limited government only endures when individuals govern themselves.

Some social conservative leaders are making the same mistake. They were right to reject an unrealistic “truce” on social issues. But some are essentially calling for a truce on economic issues, supporting candidates who stand for traditional values but are not reliably conservative on limiting the size, scope, and cost of government.

While both social and economic issues are indispensable, and both move votes, the reality is that fiscal issues are moving more swing votes in this cycle than value issues. Social conservatives will overreach if they force voters to choose between the two by insisting on traditionalist candidates who are not also warriors for free markets, federalism, fundamental entitlement reform, and a strong Balanced Budget Amendment. Social conservatives must demand equal standing, not superior standing.

A perfect example where all three branches of conservatism can join forces is our national debt. America is now $15 trillion in debt, an unprecedented level exceeding 100% of our Gross Domestic Product. The only time we even approached such a proportion was the end of World War II, where we were in a global war that threatened our very survival as a nation. Instead of a temporary military emergency, our current debt is being fueled by deficits of over $1 trillion every year Barack Obama has been president.

In addition to an economic issue, this debt is a social issue. Our profligate spending is intergenerational theft, saddling each member of the next generation with over $120,000 in debt once they become taxpayers. That’s a mortgage on a house, with no house.

It is also a defense issue. The former chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff said our national debt is the single greatest threat to national security. We are on track to be paying $600 billion per year just in interest on the national debt, more than our entire military and security budget. This hamstrings our ability to defend our nation today while developing weapons and systems to protect us tomorrow.

Another reality is that constitutional conservatism cannot become our national policy without all three branches of government. If conservatives retake both houses of Congress it can only block bad legislation. Without a two-thirds supermajority, conservatives in Congress cannot override presidential vetoes of good legislation or undo harmful administrative regulations through the Congressional Review Act.

We need a constitutional conservative in the White House. Not all Republicans are part of the solution, and some leading Republicans are even part of the problem. America needs a president who is reliable on fiscal issues, and social issues, and defense issues. Two out of three is not enough. Ronald Reagan was all three, and only a Republican solid on all three bases can pick up President Reagan’s mantle to lead this country through the daunting challenges we face.

70% of Americans Agree It’s Time for Voter ID

The concept of verifying one's eligibility to vote is so basic, it should be something that is simply done, without thought.

Sadly, previous generations have failed to stand up to evil usurpers, virtually all of them 'Progressives,' or worse, who have been benefiting from otherwise good Americans' propensity to let them get away with it. It has become so institutional, so incredibly ingrained into our culture, that we actually have to convince our politicians to re-institute this common-sense solution to the rampant voter/election fraud perpetrated by Democrats and other 'Progressives.'
