The 56 rebels knew they very well might be hanged for what they were about to do. As lawyers, merchants, farmers and landowners, they had plenty to lose. Fighting against an imperial ruler, they had everything to gain.
They were embarking on an adventure - not only because they were revolting against their own government and fighting outmanned and outgunned against a superior military - but because they were creating a radical approach to self-governance.
The 56 men who signed our Declaration of Independence on July 4, 1776, knew the only way they ever would be successful in their audacious plan was if they stood together. As Benjamin Franklin said at the signing, “if we do not hang together, we shall surely hang separately.”
Our founders shared a unified vision for our nation. They understood that unity of the many was necessary to uphold the sovereignty of the individual and the fundamental, unalienable rights to life, liberty and the pursuit of happiness.
To ensure the sovereignty of each individual American, our Founding Fathers knew the country would have to be unified on certain principles and values: a limited constitutional government, a free market, a respect for “the Laws of Nature and of Nature’s God” and a strong national defense.
Sadly, we are in danger of squandering the precious gift those 56 rebels gave us 236 years ago.
We have become a nation of “special interests” - but what interest can be more special than preserving the greatness of the United States of America and the freedoms of all its citizens?
We have politicians who would rather divide us based on income, gender or race than unite us as Americans. They want citizens to believe that “all men were created equal” really means “all men are entitled to an equal share.” They want their fellow Americans to believe anyone else’s economic success always comes at their own expense.

Congressman Allen West’s Weekly Wrap Up! Very Interesting!
Dear Patriot,
Greetings to our constituents, fellow Floridians, and all Americans, it is time again for my weekly report back.
Congratulations to the University of Kentucky for winning their eighth NCAA Men’s College Basketball championship -- only three more to catch UCLA!
This weekend, I was finally able to get back out and enjoy the underwater world off the coast of Florida’s 22nd Congressional District. About nine of us braved some 3-5 foot seas early to get in some really nice Easter weekend SCUBA diving. However, it was in driving back from the South Florida Dive Headquarters marina in Pompano Beach that I saw something disturbing.
There it was -- a purple banner flying in the wind at a gas station just east from I-95, “Now accepting EBT cards and SNAP.” For those of you who do not know these abbreviations, the EBT is the Electronic Benefit Transfer card, which is a plastic means by which one can utilize the Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program (SNAP).
This is not something we should be proud to advertise! Truly it seems the safety net is slowly becoming a hammock. This program has expanded well beyond its original intent and expanded to a far greater percentage of Americans. Now we see a growing number of businesses in this country, including sit-down and fast food restaurants, standalone and gas station convenience markets, and even pharmacies eager to accept SNAP benefits. The number of businesses certified in the SNAP program has gone from around 156,000 to more than 200,000 in five years, and food stamp benefits have ballooned from $28.5 billion to $64.7 billion. This is a highly disturbing trend. Food stamps were intended to provide a safety net for the small percentage of Americans who needed assistance. But since President Obama’s inauguration, the number of Americans receiving assistance has increased by 45 percent.
We continue to see polices coming out of the White House bent on dividing, not uniting America. The rhetoric of no blue and red states has now been replaced by divisive rhetoric and actions focusing on class, 1 percent vs. 99 percent, race, and gender. We are witnessing the degrading of the American individual citizen to being viewed as part of various collectives, and even referred to as units in the Patient Protection and Affordable Care Act.
The real group waging a war on women are liberals. Their fiscal failures evidenced by the growing debt burden threaten the future of America’s children and grandchildren. Their ineptness in keeping gasoline prices in America at a reasonable cost is resulting in harming the many soccer, hockey, and lacrosse moms who are struggling to get their children to tournaments.
Let us not forget the constant foreign affairs missteps that are resulting in a diminishing global influence for our country, and subsequently the children who shall inherit this degraded state. Think about the rockets and missiles that were launched from the Sinai desert into Eilat, which the media is not covering. Jewish mothers fret for the future of their children who now live under threat from a new front, now out of Egypt. This is the same Egypt now clearly under the control of the Muslim Brotherhood, to whom President Obama sent almost $1.5 billion in foreign aid because of their threat to Israel, and paid $5 million worth of American taxpayer treasure to Egypt to release some 19 Americans held hostage.
I reject this divisive rhetoric by the Obama administration because my focus is on our economic, energy, and national security. What can be more beneficial to men, women, and children in America?
The President’s criticism of the House GOP budget is almost pathetic when you consider the “support” he received for his own budget. Let me refresh your memory. The President’s Fiscal Year 2012 budget failed 0-97 in the Senate and the Fiscal Year 2013 budget just failed 0-414 in the House. Furthermore, it has been some 1,074 days since Harry Reid and the Democrat-led Senate has passed a budget.
Bottom line, President Obama presents a budget and policy which raises taxes, and never ever balances --but it does result in more debt, $15.6 trillion today, $26 trillion in 10 years.
President Obama must come to a very clear realization that his economic policies have led to the longest streak of consecutive months of unemployment at eight percent or higher. This is the longest “losing streak” in the history of America. I am glad that some 165,000 Americans were able to find a job in the last month. However, we still have close to 13 million Americans unemployed. There are around eight million Americans who fit the category of “underemployed.” Don't forget, one of the interesting reasons why unemployment dropped from 8.3 percent to 8.2 percent is because more Americans simply fell off the radar.
The question is, how many Americans have given up and are no longer being tracked by the Department of Labor? Some say this number is in the area of 1 to 1.2 million Americans.
Along the same lines, it seems that President Obama does not clearly understand the 1803 Marbury vs. Madison case, which established the premise of Judicial Review for the Supreme Court. It is the Supreme Court’s job, their raison d'être, to interpret laws against the supreme law of the land, the United States Constitution. Judicial activism, on the other hand, is legislating from the bench, creating laws, or over-turning the referendum of the electorate. In some 209 years, the Supreme Court has ruled approximately 150 laws as unconstitutional.
This was not a good week for the President’s administration, and lets not overlook the news reports that the Obama administration leaked information about Israeli air base usage in Azerbaijan.
In closing, I offer a Bravo Zulu to the two Unites States Navy fighter pilots aboard the F/A-18D on which they did their best to avoid creating a greater catastrophe. If this crash ends up being maintenance-related, perhaps this is a result of the excessive budget cuts to our Military, which are hitting our operating forces.
I am sad to see a Marine Sergeant may lose his career because he dared to criticize the President on a Facebook page. Should we have disciplined this young NCO? Yes. But to end this Warrior’s career with a less than honorable discharge is not the answer. This Marine had served nearly nine years in the Marine Corps and was planning to reenlist. Maybe if America had leadership that gained the respect of our military, instead of simply using them as stage props for speeches, this atmosphere would not exist.

ACT! For America: Obama administration denying reality

The Obama administration’s denial of reality—and why Rep. Allen West’s Purple Heart legislation is so important
Last week we emailed you about our open letter to the chairmen of both the U.S. House and Senate Armed Services Committees. The letter calls on the committees to take up and pass H.R. 1142, sponsored by Rep. Allen West, which would confer the Purple Heart upon victims of jihadist attacks (Ft. Hood, the Little Rock Recruitment Center, etc.).
Doing so would correct a grave injustice. It would also shine a light on a reality the Obama administration is desperately trying to deny:
•that there is a jihadist ideology;
•that the primary meaning of the doctrine of jihad has always been warfare against non-Muslims;
•that the perpetrators of jihadist violence are not mere “criminals”—they are enemy combatants who deserve to be treated as enemy combatants;
•and that their victims, such as at Ft. Hood and the Little Rock Recruitment Center, are not victims of “crime” or “workplace violence,” but are victims of an act of war—jihad.
The Obama administration has gone so far in acting on this denial that, at the insistence of radical Muslim organizations, it is expunging any references to “jihad” or “radical Islam” from FBI terrorism training manuals.
This pattern of denial by the Obama administration can be seen in other areas. Recently, Gen. Martin Dempsey, the Chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff, made the incredulous statement that Iran is a “rational actor” and is not trying to develop nuclear weapons.
This illustrates a triumph of wishful thinking, or perhaps wishful parsing of intelligence data, over an understanding of religious doctrinal beliefs that are at least in part driving Iran’s leaders on its path toward nuclear weaponry. When Ahmadinejad, , or any other Iranian leader, express their belief in the return of the 12th imam, and how a worldwide apocalypse must occur before this happens, we should take them at their word. What better way to instigate a worldwide apocalypse than to launch nuclear weapons?
But instead of taking this seriously, it seems that this administration dismisses such notions as crazy ramblings, because, after all, no one in our leadership would ever believe such a thing.
The Obama administration has also been exhibiting a denial of reality in the way it is responding to the accidental burning of some Qur’ans in Afghanistan. It has trotted out one apology after another, from different leaders in the administration, even going so far as to promise that those who burned the Qur’ans will be held accountable.
(Interestingly, some modern and ancient Islamic authorities specifically sanction the burning of Qur’ans as a proper means of disposal. To find out more see this enlightening article by our friend and colleague Andrew Bostom.)
The Obama administration actions have been undertaken in the hope that this would somehow assuage the wrath of the Afghan rioters, when in fact it denies the reality that such repeated pleas for forgiveness are doing the exact opposite, like throwing gasoline on a fire. The Obama administration’s actions are emboldening the rioters and have failed to achieve their purported goal.
Every person who signs the Purple Heart letter is not only calling on Congress to correct a grave injustice, he or she is sending a message that we have lost patience with the denial of the reality that jihad is what is motivating Islamic terrorists and that jihad is an act of war.

Disband The Black Caucus - Investors.com
Next week, the Congressional Black Caucus will hold its 41st annual conference in Washington. It should be its last. The race-baiting group is alarmingly corrupt and out of control.
Founded in 1971 by 13 civil-rights leaders as "the conscience of the Congress," the caucus has strayed far from its original mission. Now boasting 42 politicians — including some of the most radical and unethical in Congress — it chiefly serves its own interests.
Its lavish annual gala is an unseemly shakedown of corporate donors unwittingly funding a war chest for Marxist causes. While the living conditions of average African-Americans worsen, this elite black power club has empowered and enriched its own.
The group has become an embarrassment not just to the black community and the civil-rights legacy it deigns to uphold, but the Democratic Party from which it draws almost all of its members. It should be disbanded. Here's a bill of indictment:
• Hate speech: The caucus is run by racial arsonists spewing dangerous rhetoric.
Its whip, Rep. Andre Carson, last month likened Tea Party members to Klansmen who want to see blacks "hanging on a tree." Another member, Rep. Frederica Wilson, targeted the Tea Party as "the real enemy." The caucus' doyen, Rep. Maxine Waters, poured her trademark kerosene on the fire, adding: "The Tea Party can go straight to hell."
Rep. Allen West was so disgusted by the "hate-filled comments" he threatened to quit the caucus. He admonished fellow members to "follow the example of Dr. Martin Luther King Jr., not the example of Rev. Jeremiah Wright." (The group's lone Republican, West says he only joined the caucus out of respect for his late parents.)
• Racism: Membership is closed to other races. The exclusively black group is the only one on the Hill that enforces a pigment test: No whites or other minorities allowed.
When a white lawmaker representing a mostly black district was turned down for membership, Rep. William Lacy Clay, son of the caucus co-founder, explained that it's an "unwritten rule" that you must be black to join. It's the sole criterion of membership.
• Corruption: Four caucus members show up on the left-leaning Citizens for Responsibility and Ethics in Washington's list of the "most corrupt" lawmakers. Several have been brought up on ethics charges or come under Justice Department investigation, including:
Waters, who stands accused of improperly lobbying Treasury officials to bail out a black bank, OneUnited, where her husband owned stock and served on the board, recently called bankers "gangsters" and threatened to "tax them out of business" if they didn't forgive minority mortgage delinquencies. She should know about gangsta bankers: The Los Angeles Times reports her OneUnited CEO pal Kevin Cohee in 2007 was charged with crack possession. The same year, the paper says, police also arrested him on a rape complaint.)
Rep. Charles Rangel, D-N.Y., convicted last year of 12 ethics violations. Among other things, the former Ways and Means Committee chair accepted gifts from donors with business before the tax-writing body. He also failed to pay taxes on rental income, and filed bad financial disclosure papers.

Rep. Charles Rangel, D-N.Y., convicted last year of 12 ethics violations. Among other things, the former Ways and Means Committee chair accepted gifts from donors with business before the tax-writing body. He also failed to pay taxes on rental income, and filed bad financial disclosure papers.

Rep. West: Obama's Rules Scorn Constitution

Conservative firebrand Rep. Allen West is castigating President Barack Obama for “shredding” the U.S. Constitution by aggressively pushing to impose his agenda through executive-branch rule-making rather than via Congress.
In an exclusive Newsmax.TV interview, West cited Homeland Security Department chief Janet Napolitano’s announcement last week that the federal government will allow illegals not charged with other crimes to remain in the country and will not deport them.
“It’s absolutely a form of amnesty, and it does go against our Constitution,” says West, who called for a congressional investigation into the administration action.

Rep. Allen West: US Security Policy Must Recognize Role of Islamic Ideology in Terrorism
He’s served on the battlefields of Iraq and Afghanistan, but now, freshman Rep. Allen West, R-Fla., is bringing his experiences to the halls of Congress to fight a different kind of battle.
“One of the things that I’ve noticed is that when you cross the Potomac, truth becomes subjective,” West recently told CBN News. “And I will not subscribe to that.”
The latest controversial “truth” West is warning of is the danger of separating Islamic ideology and radical Islamic terrorism.
