National Calls to Prayer


Throughout the centuries, America has had a rich history of participating in times of prayer. Oftentimes, prayer proclamations were issued by the governor of a colony or state, or by the president of the United States. In fact, by 1815, some 1,400 official calls to prayer had been issued by governmental leaders. These included calls for both Days of Prayer and Fasting and Days of Thanksgiving. On these days, citizens and congregations would gather together at churches at various locations, pastors would preach a sermon addressing the topics outlined in the proclamation, and then they would all pray. As stronger sentiment concerning gun control mounts on the American streets, Glenn Beck invited renown historian and Wallbuilders founder David Barton on his Tuesday evening program to provide viewers with a comprehensive overview of the Second Amendment as a foundation for liberty and freedom.

Beck was compelled to provide this in-depth look after 19 potential executive actions were identified to move the Obama administration forward with new gun control measures. Those measures include but are not limited to: requiring mental health screenings of both the buyer and seller; banning military-style “assault” weapons and high-capacity magazines; issuing a statute prohibiting gun trafficking; and an “end” to the “hobbling of federal agencies.”

“This is not about preventing mass-murders it is about eliminating your right to bear arms,” Beck slammed. “This administration will never waste a good emergency.”

“Americans need to know where the Second Amendment even comes from…The history of our ‘why and how,’ and how it has shaped our foundation of freedom.”

A glance back in time

Barton, whose knowledge-base in American history is by many considered second to none, said that the Second Amendment is truly about a “certain set of principles.” He added that people should not separate the Second Amendment from other amendments, particularly the first five, as they are all aligned and part of one larger concept of protection of one’s self, religion and property. In other words ”unalienable rights.”

The Founding Fathers, according to Barton, believed that God gave these rights to mankind and that no government could take them away.

CHRISTIAN COALITION PLANS FOR ANNUAL BANQUET

Tim Barton of WallBuilders to be the Keynote Speaker

Plans are being finalized for the 19th Annual God and Country Banquet to be held on Monday, September 17, 2012 in Havelock. The Keynote Address will be given by Tim Barton of WallBuilders.

Tim is a speaker for WallBuilders, a national pro-family organization that presents America's forgotten history and heroes, with an emphasis on our religious, moral and constitutional heritage. WallBuilders has been recognized from coast-to-coast for its work in education, history, law and public policy, integrating the elements of Biblical faith and morality throughout all aspects of American life and culture. Tim is an ordained minister and has worked in a variety of church staff positions, including as youth minister, worship leader and assistant pastor. Tim’s Dad, David Barton, is the founder and President of WallBuilders.

The God and Country Banquet will be held on Monday, September 17, 2012 at the Havelock Tourist and Event Center. Doors will open at 5:30pm for registration and book signing, with the program beginning at 6:30pm.

Many candidates will be in attendance and will be recognized. Four of the seven North Carolina Supreme Court Justices will also attend the Banquet.

Barton Calls Obama ‘America’s Most Biblically-Hostile U. S. President’

Is President Barack Obama America’s most “Biblically-hostile U.S. president?” This is the label that conservative historian David Bardon has given Obama, as the nation continues its debate over the president’s controversial contraceptive mandate.

WallBuilders: Free to Speak—Religious Freedom Sunday

From time to time, WallBuilders is involved with a number of groups and cooperates with them in worthy culture-changing efforts. Here is one such upcoming event: Religious Freedom Sunday.

Religious Freedom Sunday (January 15, 2012) is a day to honor teachers and educate students and parents regarding the rights of religious expressions in the public schools.

Religious Freedom Sunday is a preparation for Religious Freedom Day, declared to be January 16th since 1993, when a resolution passed in Congress set this day apart, purposely choosing January 16th to honor The Virginia Act For Establishing Religious Freedom. This act was written by Thomas Jefferson and passed by the Virginia legislature in 1786.

Drive aims at getting Christians to vote--'We feel that's vital; that's something that has to be done'

What should Christians do if they want to see their values represented in government? Vote. That's the idea behind the coming "Citizenship Sundays" on Dec. 4 and Dec. 11, organized by Wallbuilders President David Barton and Restore America. Barton said only about half of evangelical Christians registered to vote ever go to the polls, meaning some 58 million let others decide the nation's future for them. So the drive to get them registered and get them to the polls – even during primaries – is heating up. Barton also has put together what he says is a Christian voter guide.

WALL BUILDERS: An Historic Event

This past Saturday, over 32,000 from across the nation gathered at Reliant Stadium in Houston at the request of Texas Governor Rick Perry for a day of fasting, repentance, and prayer for America. Protestors ringed the outside of the event, which is a potent commentary on the condition of the culture today that so many object to Americans voluntary gathering for prayer.

Media coverage prior to the event was largely negative, with many articles happily providing critics a free platform from which to spew their hate. Particularly preposterous were the historical arguments leveled against the event.

Should Christians Support Obama by Dr David Barton (excellent points given)

Dr. David Barton is more of a historian than a Biblical speaker, but very famous for his knowledge of historical facts as well as Biblical truths. Dr. David Barton – on Obama Respect the Office? Yes.


Respect the Man in the Office? No, I am sorry to say. I have noted that many elected officials, both Democrats and Republicans, called upon America to unite behind Obama. Well, I want to make it clear to all who will listen that I AM NOT uniting behind Obama!I will respect the Office which he holds, and I will acknowledge his abilities as an orator and wordsmith and pray for him, BUT that is it. I have begun today to see what I can do to make sure that he is a one-term President! Why am I doing this? It is because: - I do not share Obama’s vision or value system for America ;

- I do not share his Abortion beliefs;
- I do not share his radical Marxist’s concept of re-distributing wealth;
- I do not share his stated views on raising taxes on those who make $150,000+ (the ceiling has been changed three times since August); - I do not share his view that America is Arrogant;
- I do not share his view that America is not a Christian Nation;
- I do not share his view that the military should be reduced by 25%;
- I do not share his view of amnesty and giving more to illegals than our American Citizens who need help;
- I do not share his views on homosexuality and his definition of marriage;
- I do not share his views that Radical Islam is our friend and Israel is our enemy who should give up any land;
- I do not share his spiritual beliefs (at least the ones he has made public);
- I do not share his beliefs on how to re-work the healthcare system in America;
- I do not share his Strategic views of the Middle East; and
- I certainly do not share his plan to sit down with terrorist regimes such as Iran. Bottom line: my America is vastly different from Obama’s, and I have a higher obligation to my Country and my GOD to do what is Right! For eight (8) years, the Liberals in our Society, led by numerous entertainers who would have no platform and no real credibility but for their celebrity status, have attacked President Bush, his family, and his spiritual beliefs! They have not moved toward the center in their beliefs and their philosophies, and they never came together nor compromised their personal beliefs for the betterment of our Country!

They have portrayed my America as a land where everything is tolerated except being intolerant ! They have been a vocal and irreverent minority for years! They have mocked and attacked the very core values so important to the founding and growth of our Country! They have made every effort to remove the name of GOD or Jesus Christ from our Society!

They have challenged capital punishment, the right to bear firearms, and the most basic principles of our criminal code! They have attacked one of the most fundamental of all Freedoms, the right of free speech! Unite behind Obama? Never!

I am sure many of you who read this think that I am going overboard, but I refuse to retreat one more inch in favor of those whom I believe are the embodiment of Evil! PRESIDENT BUSH made many mistakes during his Presidency, and I am not sure how history will judge him. However, I believe that he weighed his decisions in light of the long established Judeo-Christian principles of our Founding Fathers!!!

Majority rules in America , and I will honor the concept; however, I will fight with all of my power to be a voice in opposition to Obama and his “goals for America …” I am going to be a thorn in the side of those who, if left unchecked, will destroy our Country! Any more compromise is more defeat! I pray that the results of this election will wake up many who have sat on the sidelines and allowed the Socialist-Marxist anti-GOD crowd to slowly change so much of what has been good in America ! “Error of Opinion may be tolerated where Reason is left free to combat it.” -Thomas Jefferson GOD bless you and GOD bless our Country!

A Message from David Barton and WallBuilders!

Vindicating American Exceptionalism


America has a wonderful spiritual and constitutional legacy. It is no surprise that Secularists, Atheists, Leftists, and Liberals have relentlessly attacked every aspect of that heritage. They must sever citizens from a knowledge of their true history if they are to succeed in moving the country in a new direction.

Such attacks are to be expected, but what is surprising that some who would be described as conservative Christians have now joined with them and become leaders in the attack on America’s rich Christian heritage. They are trying to convince Christians not only that America does not have a Biblical foundation but specifically that the Founding Fathers were largely pagans who represented the spirit of the Anti-Christ. They further assert that Christians should not be involved in the political arena or similar areas of culture.

The new DVDs by these Christians impugning America’s foundations have recently received wide distribution in some church circles thus created much confusion amongmany sincere believers who have respectfully asked us to help them sort out the facts and discern the truth. We have prepared a detailed response to these insidious attacks so that Christians can be better equipped to defend and assert America’s Biblical foundations.

It is time for God-fearing Americans to become better informed about America’s remarkable moral, religious, and constitutional foundations and to reject and aggressively rebut efforts of those who would attempt to undermine the positive aspects of America’s extraordinary heritage – a heritage that has provided unprecedented blessings, and a heritage for which we should be humbly grateful to Almighty God.
