It’s inevitable that parents will someday be asked “Where do babies come from?” and/or “Where did I come from?” by their children. And now, there‘s a children’s book to help answer the question. But the book isn’t that simple — and not everyone is applauding it. Why? Because, as the the book’s author Cory Silverberg describes, not everyone has a “nice story” of “mommy + daddy + intercourse = you!”
With that in mind, Silverberg is creating a new book – “What Makes a Baby?” – for parents to “[acknowledge] the help we get to bring children into our lives.” The book will include information about the help parents can get to make a baby: “a doctor, fertility clinic, adoption or foster agency; it might be a turkey baster and a friend; it might be a sperm donor or a surrogate.”

Family groups horrified by mandatory 'gender' classes for children

Pro-family organizations across the nation are expressing shock and alarm over a new wave of homosexual indoctrination developing in public schools – especially in California – where parents are not even given the option of withdrawing their kids from the mandatory lessons on being "gay" or more.
"Young children are being taught that they can choose to be a boy or a girl – or both," said officials at Mass Resistance, one of the leading organizations across the country defending the fact that students are boys or girls.
"Boys, for example, should be comfortable wearing girls' clothes and nail polish, etc. And there aren't just two genders, there can be a range. And, of course, the school does not allow parents to opt their kids out," the organization said.

It was citing the work of an elementary school in Oakland, where officials allowed an outside advocacy organization, Gender Spectrum, to tell young students that sexuality is what they want it to be, not necessarily what nature endowed them to be.
A Fox News report on the issue said the school officials defended their actions by explaining that all student "behaviors" have to be accepted and reinforced.
Baloney, said Brad Dacus, of Pacific Justice Institute. He said such indoctrination just creates gender "confusion" for young children.
Officials with SaveCalifornia.com also have been highlighting the egregious results when mandatory gender lessons are adopted by public schools.
The organization's president, Randy Thomasson, is concerned because of previous mandatory teaching standards adopted in California, as well as pending legislation that would require profiling as role models lesbians, homosexuals and those with other alternative sexual lifestyle choices.
His organization has published a resource page for links to answers on questions such as, "Is there a 'gay gene'?" and "Is homosexual healthy?"
Thomasson has reported that there have been developing significant issues over the state's legally recommended recognition of "Harvey Milk Day," too. Milk was an openly homosexual elected official.

State Department Promises Move Toward Ratification - Parentalrights.org - Protecting Children by Empowering Parents
PLEASE TAKE A STAND FOR PARENTAL RIGHTS BEFORE IT IS TO LATE!
On March 10, the Obama administration told the UN Human Rights Council that it supports the UNHRC's recommendations that the United States should “ratify the Convention on the Rights of the Child [CRC].” Moreover, the administration promised that it “intend[s] to review how we could move toward its ratification.”In the meantime, SR 99 opposing ratification of the CRC is very close to its first major milestone. As of yesterday, Senator Jim DeMint's resolution, which expresses the reasons Senators oppose the UN child rights treaty, has 32 cosponsors, with 2 more senators committed to sign next Monday.This is great news - but it is not enough!We need to recognize that the Obama administration and the UN will not give up so easily. Thirty-four senators signed a similar measure regarding the Panama Canal treaty a few years ago, and the administration twisted arms until enough changed their minds to ratify that controversial treaty.We cannot be satisfied with 32 Senators, or even with 34. We need to aim for at least 40 co-sponsors of SR 99 to make sure that the CRC cannot move forward in this term of Congress.
Pro-CRC States?Additionally, state legislators in both Illinois and Rhode Island have introduced resolutions calling for the ratification of the CRC. Amazingly, the Rhode Island resolution admits, “If enacted, the [CRC] would become superior to the laws of the states and their judicial systems, and would be subordinate only to the text of the [U.S.] Constitution.” Any state legislator who wants a treaty to become superior to his or her own state’s law is confessing the inability to enact state laws that are sufficient to protect children. Next week, we're going to start calling this brand new Congress and urging members to sponsor the Parental Rights Amendment. Our immediate goal is to reach 180 cosponsors, because the most popular constitutional amendment proposed in the last Congress had 179. But to reach that goal, this call blitz has to be our biggest yet.
So this week, we need everyone to do two things: First, plan to call next week. We will start on Tuesday, January 18, so just decide now that when you see that email, you are going to call.
Second, enlist someone else to call with you. Find someone who hasn’t signed the petition yet or who no longer receives our emails, and urge them to join you for this call blitz. Ask them to sign the petition so they can receive their own email notice when it’s time to call. Welcome to 2011! As this exciting year begins, many of you have made resolutions regarding how you will live differently this year. Here are four more commitments you can make to preserve parental rights in 2011 and beyond:
1. Resolve to show “The Child” to at least 20 people.
“The Child” documentary is an excellent tool for sharing the need for the Parental Rights Amendment. So gather your friends, family, congregation, or colleagues and use this film to share with them why you are so concerned about protecting the role of parents in America. (For some, 20 people might be too easy a goal – so resolve to show it to 100 or more!)

A California school district is using some $115,000 of federal stimulus money from the American Recovery and Reinvestment Act of 2009 to have kids wear vests with RFID chips embedded so their every move inside the school complex can be monitored.
A report from TechNewsDaily cites the work of the Contra Costa County Employment and Human Services agency, which already has spent $50,000 setting up the system for a first Head Start site.
"We did some research and we thought this would be a good utilization for the money," Karen Mitchoff, an agency spokeswoman, told TechNews Daily.
The action has raised some alarms among privacy advocates, but also met a qualified endorsement from a columnist at the RFID Journal.
There, Mark Roberti wrote, "I think it is fair to say that there are several good reasons to use RFID to track school children. But I was struck by a New York Times editorial on the topic ... that was unusually balanced for an article about RFID. The editors wrote, 'Concern that school officials would use the ID chips to keep tabs on children's behavior – and tag them perhaps as hyperactive or excessively passive – seems overwrought.' But it also asks the question, 'Though it may seem innocuous to attach a chip to our preschoolers' clothes, do we really want to raise a generation of kids that are accustomed to being tracked, like cattle or warehouse inventory?"
He continued, "This is a profound question. If we track all children with technology and they get used to it, do we open the possibility that they will accept government tracking of them as adults?"

At TechNewsDaily, Linda Rosencrance said Mitchoff explained that the program would free up teachers from having to fulfill administrative duties such as attendance – and recording when children eat.
"This just helps us to know where that child is at all times," Mitchoff said. "Not that the teachers wouldn't know where they are. It's just an assist to teachers. It frees up teachers to spend more time with students and less time on paperwork, attendance and meal schedules."
According to Rosencrance's report, a parent or someone signs a child into the system on arrival in the morning. The child then is given a jersey with an RFID – or tracking – device embedded. The tab transmits data to various receivers around the school, and computers monitor the child's movements and activities.
TechNewsDaily said Marc Rotenberg of the Electric Privacy Information Center in Washington told Rosencrance there are concerns about the procedure.
"Up until now these tracking devices have been used for farm animals or house pets. Now a school district thinks it's a good idea to tag children," he warned.
He said there are several possible ramifications.
"If you get into the scenario of stalkers and pedophiles, now it's possible to determine when a child is outside the classroom and that can pose a real threat," he told TechNewsDaily. "These systems generate location information and they can create audit logs, so the information is not just available in real time but historic information as well. From our perspective that will create privacy risks because parents will be wondering, 'Who, apart from me, knows where my child is at any particular moment.'"
The report said Rebecca Jeschke of the Electronic Frontier Foundation also worries that any information from the system would be misused.
"You could have what would appear to be a very complete picture of a child's movements," she said. "If a child is moving around all the time, will administrators label him hyperactive? And will that information follow that child through high school?"
Mitchoff reported that the program, for now, gives parents the opportunity to keep their child out of the system.

The tab transmits data to various receivers around the school, and computers monitor the child's movements and activities.
TechNewsDaily said Marc Rotenberg of the Electric Privacy Information Center in Washington told Rosencrance there are concerns about the procedure.
"Up until now these tracking devices have been used for farm animals or house pets. Now a school district thinks it's a good idea to tag children," he warned.
He said there are several possible ramifications.
"If you get into the scenario of stalkers and pedophiles, now it's possible to determine when a child is outside the classroom and that can pose a real threat," he told TechNewsDaily. "These systems generate location information and they can create audit logs, so the information is not just available in real time but historic information as well. From our perspective that will create privacy risks because parents will be wondering, 'Who, apart from me, knows where my child is at any particular moment.'"
The report said Rebecca Jeschke of the Electronic Frontier Foundation also worries that any information from the system would be misused.
"You could have what would appear to be a very complete picture of a child's movements," she said. "If a child is moving around all the time, will administrators label him hyperactive? And will that information follow that child through high school?"
Mitchoff reported that the program, for now, gives parents the opportunity to keep their child out of the system.
