BUCHANAN TO OBAMA

Barack says we need to have a conversation about race in America . . . Fair enough.  But this time, it has to be a two-way conversation.  White America needs to be heard from, not just lectured to . . .   This time, the Silent Majority needs to have its convictions, grievances and demands heard.  And among them are these:

·        First, America has been the best country on earth for black folks.  It was here that 600,000 black people, brought from Africa in slave ships, grew into a community of 40 million, were introduced to Christian salvation, and reached the greatest levels of freedom and prosperity blacks have ever known.  Jeremiah Wright ought to go down on his knees and thank God he is an American.

·        Second, no people anywhere has done more to lift up blacks than white Americans.  Untold trillions have been spent since the '60s on welfare, food stamps, rent supplements, Section 8 housing, Pell grants, student loans, legal services, Medicaid, Earned Income Tax Credits and poverty programs designed to bring the African-American community into the mainstream.  Governments, businesses and colleges have engaged in discrimination against white folks -- with affirmative action, contract set-asides and quotas -- to advance black applicants over white applicants.  Churches, foundations, civic groups, schools and individuals all over America have donated their time and money to support soup kitchens, adult education, day care, retirement and nursing homes for blacks.

·        We hear the grievances. Where is the gratitude??

THE BLAZE: NAACP Backs Same-Sex Marriage as a ‘Civil Right’

What an insult to all the men and women who led the civil rights movement and to all Americans!
The NAACP, an African-American civil rights organization, passed a resolution on Saturday endorsing same-sex marriage as a civil right and opposing any efforts “to codify discrimination or hatred into the law.”

The National Association for the Advancement of Colored People’s board voted at a leadership retreat in Miami to back a resolution supporting marriage equality, calling the position consistent with the equal protection provision of the U.S. Constitution.

As American’s look at another Fourth of July we see a country that is more divided than unified. Our Founding Fathers would scream over the direction America is heading toward. “Life, liberty and pursuit of happiness” comes to mind when I think of Independence Day. Especially the pursuit of happiness. Pursuit of happiness is not having our government doing everything for you. Our culture in this society is mirrored into entitlement-socialist agenda. Just look at the past few years since we have changed presidents.

Unless we change direction of an entitlement, cultural work ethic mind set, we are headed for an America that we will not be proud of. Our elected officials must change course in the near future. If no change is done, our government will control what you eat, drink, drive and wear. Period.

The Democrats are running out of ideas to help, save and improve this country for everyone.

We the people voted for a president and assumed his words were true. Our president has wasted the first part of his presidency on government-run health care and neglected to curtail and stop wars to bring true building of America to America. Now that the pressure is on to better the economy, another idea has come up – more economic stimulus for job creation. Why don’t we remove regulation on small businesses which create 70 percent of the jobs in this country, not the federal government? Why don’t we just say enough of two wars and other conflicts that are not truly of national interest? Our interest is to move this country from a government control mentality to an individual control mindset.

Our republic will not stand on mountains of debt, red ink and ownership by foreign investors who can have a say on the direction of this great country.

As you take time from your busy getaway vacation during the Fourth of July please take the time to look at our nation as a pursuit of free happiness, not a controlling government whose every move is at their control. We are a great nation founded on the Constitution, which is being shredded as we speak by our so-called elected officials. We as a nation must stand up make our elected officials know that the direction of this great land is a course for disaster. God bless America, my home sweet home.

Herman Cain: Blacks Finally Hearing Truth on GOP

African-American voters are finally getting the facts about the Republican Party and beginning to turn away from their traditional pattern of voting for Democrats, Atlanta talk radio host Herman Cain tells Newsmax.TV. The former CEO said talk radio has been key to this transformation and that is why liberals are seeking to resurrect the Fairness Doctrine.

“I’ve had a lot of people tell me, and they would call my show and volunteer information as to the fact they were black, they were American and they were starting to see the light,” Cain said. “You see when people have the right information they will make the right decision. This is one of the reasons that the liberals continue to want to try to promote this unfair Fairness Doctrine.”

Cain, an African-American who recently formed a presidential campaign exploratory committee, said that liberals do not want blacks and minorities to know the truth about the Democratic Party or to know the truth about the Republican Party.

Talk show host Herman Cain, who is considering a run for president, reacts to the attacks on conservative talk hosts from the left in the wake of the Arizona shootings. He outlines his main issues if he does make a White House bid.

“Now that people are listening to talk radio and they’re getting the right facts about what the Republican Party stands for more and more people are beginning to vote Republican and align themselves with Republican values,” he said.

The Fairness Doctrine dates back to 1949 and required broadcasters to present a balanced view of both sides of a controversial issue. The Federal Communications Commission’s repeal of the doctrine in 1987 is often credited with the rise of talk radio. The Tucson shooting that killed six and wounded more than a dozen, including Rep. Gabrielle Giffords, coupled with the recent harsh political rhetoric, has sparked a renewed call for the doctrine’s reinstatement.

Cain, who went to Arizona to do broadcasts of his show, called claims that conservative talk radio somehow contributed to the tragedy silly and disrespectful.

“I say that is just silly, silly, silly, is what I say,” he said. “It has been well established that the deranged young man was in fact deranged that committed that terrible tragedy on the people that died as well as Congresswoman Giffords. It’s silly to try to spin a tragedy into liberal talking points against a conservative talk show host or anybody that’s conservative. I think it’s just a silly argument and disrespectful to the families of those that lost their lives.”

He said that efforts to reinstate the Fairness Doctrine had no chance of success in Congress and any attempt to do it through regulation would be met by public opposition. “The American people are going to be very aware of these backdoor regulations that are going to try and silence people like me and others who are simply telling people the truth.”

As to his presidential exploratory committee, Cain said it allows him to test two things.

“One, the level of voter support for an unconventional candidate like myself, meaning I’m not a politician; I’m a businessman, a problem solver. And secondly, it will allow me to test how much financial support I will be able to garner. … The early indications as well as what we’ve already done have exceeded our expectations.”

f he should become a candidate, Cain said he would focus on the issues of strengthening national security, unleashing the full economic potential in our economy, cutting spending, fixing the immigration problems and developing an energy independence strategy.

Liberals Leave The Reservation

Any piece of legislation must be both constitutional and improve the condition of the American people. When President Obama and Congressional Republicans first announced their tax deal early last week, our reaction was to hold our noses against its bad elements; on balance, we thought the extension of the current tax rates was laudable. Now, however, the full text of the bill has been released and we see all the bad things that were in the original deal. Meanwhile, liberals in Congress are walking away even from that deal, and are holding the country hostage to their hatred of those they call “the rich.” The tax cut deal, we now know, has been so freighted with liberal special interest tax giveaways that true conservatives cannot support it in good faith.

The blame for this state of affairs will be on the left. Tax rates will go up on all Americans on Jan. 1, hitting a country beset with 10 percent unemployment and a stagnant economy. It’s baffling that, two decades after the fall of the Berlin Wall, the left has held fast to its belief that penalizing success will somehow incentivize hard work and produce wealth.

If House Speaker Nancy Pelosi and Senate Majority leader Harry Reid engineer this massive a tax increase in a faltering economy, they will join two Republicans -- Reed Smoot of Utah and Willis Hawley of Oregon -- in the pantheon of economic fools. Before they do so, Ms. Pelosi and Mr. Reid should consider that history has still not forgiven their predecessors for the Smoot-Hawley tariff that led to the Great Depression.

Of course, the pain of an Obama-Pelosi-Reid tax hikes would be somewhat lessened by the fact that they would hopefully be temporary. As Rep. Paul Ryan (R-WI) said on Fox News Sunday yesterday, the first order of business next month for the incoming Tea Party House of Representatives will be to undo the tax hikes the Lame Duck Congress may be about to pass this week. (We would have preferred to have seen that first order of business to be the repeal of Obamacare, but given the circumstances, throttling that unbearable act must move to the second spot.)

We recognize that having taxes go up, and then down, will increase volatility, which never helps businesses, investors and families. It was that concern that led us to be initially open to the extension of the current tax rates, even though it was only for two years and was accompanied by other onerous measures such as a 35 percent death tax. All along we have shared the concerns of such friends as Sen. Jim DeMint (R-SC), who said in a Thursday speech at Heritage that the line "this is the best deal we can get" has been used to justify too many bad deals in the past.

Now that we see what is in the full text of the bill, we have serious reservations even about the original deal. So just to be clear, what The Heritage Foundation wants is a plain extension of the current tax arrangements. Congress should have a straight up or down vote on full extension, including the AMT. It can have a straight up and down vote on the unpaid for unemployment benefits, too, if progressives want that.

If this cannot be had without other hurtful additions, it is time to look forward. The new 112th Congress will have to pass new tax legislation that holds the line against all the other negative provisions of the current deal, such as yet another unpaid-for extension of unemployment benefits (which perversely only help perpetuates long-term unemployment).

Ditto for all the goodies progressives in the Congress are now busily adding, such as subsidies for windmills in California (already in the tax extenders - or you need to say even larger ethanol subsidies). All this came on the back of the extension of stimulus tax credits, which expanded the refundability of the Earned Income Tax Credit and the Child Tax Credit, and created the new refundable American Opportunity Tax Credit.

And, to be sure, including goodies for the whole liberal power base that were already there as part of the annual tax extenders package: the Indian employment tax credit; the railroad track maintenance credit; the seven-year recovery period for motorsports entertainment complexes; the expensing of environmental remediation costs; the deduction allowable with respect to income attributable to domestic production activities in Puerto Rico and the tax incentives for investment in the District of Columbia.

Is there a progressive protected group that hasn’t been laden with pork in this deal?

The new Congress that assembles in January should give enactment of the permanent tax relief top priority. The recently elected conservatives, who will arrive in January with a commitment to cut spending, deficits, debt and taxes, should provide the foundation for building momentum in Congress to make the tax relief permanent. But, of course, in the absence of tax relief, the Pelosi-Reid tax hikes will be in effect, doing their damage to the economy, while the conservatives work to get legislation through Congress to make the tax cuts permanent.

Do they hate successful Americans more than they profess to love the jobless and others who need our help?

A Judeo-Christian Nation Must Not Stand

Our nation is fading into the sunset of the world’s greatest experiment on self-government. The founding principles and morality upon which this nation was built are now reviled and attacked on a daily basis. The definition of religion varies but as it pertains to a successful society, it defines the morality of the people’s behavior and laws. In order to overthrow a nation based on virtue and morality and replace it with state directed control, you must remove faith. Too many people in the patriot movement run away from religion. We forget (or chose to forget) that our American Revolution was called the “Presbyterian Revolt” in England.

In fact, George III called it a “Presbyterian war,” many in Britain referred to it as “the Presbyterian revolt,” and the British Prime Minister said, “Cousin America has run off with a Presbyterian parson, and that is the end of it.”

The fall of the United States is being accomplished with attacks on two fronts: economic and religious. The self censuring of our politically correct society includes the destruction of our faith in religion and morality which has led to our downfall. On October 23rd, a rally is being held in King, North Carolina to protest a decision by the city council to remove the Christian flag above a monument in their central park. In Grand Rapids, Michigan a civil rights complaint was filed against a woman because she advertised for a “Christian roommate”. On the other hand, the firing of Juan Williams for stating a fact that all of us believe concerning Muslims is not denounced by the media, most politicians or the church.

We must understand that our country’s downfall was a three pronged attack which only succeeded due to the apathy of an affluent society. We the People are the only ones to blame for our loss of moral government, church and education. Our efforts have focused on government and the upcoming elections. No efforts are made to retake our churches or schools. Without the leadership of the church, there would not have been a revolution or a United States. Social Justice and greed have overthrown our churches and have contributed to our moral decay. If you go to church, when was the last time that you heard a sermon referencing “natural law” and “freedom” being a right bestowed on every man by God?

Our children and young adults are attending indoctrination centers instead of school or centers of higher education. Did you know that the government classifies “home schooling” as a tenet for extremists? Our Department of Education in Washington, DC dictates mandates in our schools concerning even the food that our children eat. Do you see the blurring of the lines between government, church and education? How about some recent examples:

1. Winston-Salem State University sends out a mass e-mail telling staff and students to vote Democrat.

2. Three van loads of Hughes High students in Cincinnati were taken last week to vote and given sample ballots only for Democratic candidates. This was during school hours and they were then rewarded (paid off) with ice cream.

3. Seton Hall Law School’s Center for Social Justice filed a class action lawsuit today against New Jersey on behalf of low-income legal immigrants who have been denied state-funded Medicaid health insurance under the FamilyCare program due to recent budget cuts.

4. Here is part of a letter referring to Arizona’s SB 1070 immigration bill.

“When injustice becomes law, resistance to that law becomes our moral duty. Thus, this law must be stopped.”

8 Steps To Rebuild America's Economy (Part 3)

The White House's wish almost came true last week. It was hoping most of us and even the mainstream media would miss the release of the Congressional Budget Office's preliminary report on the 2010 federal fiscal year. And most did.


The Wall Street Journal, however, exposed why the White House was being so secretive about its results: The CBO concluded that federal government spending has skyrocketed 21.4 percent in just the past two years since President Barack Obama took office!

The White House's actions remind me of President Ronald Reagan's words: "We could say they spend money like drunken sailors, but that would be unfair to drunken sailors. It would be unfair because the sailors are spending their own money."

It's no new revelation that Washington has lost its way from our Founders' vision and fiscal frugality. But in the past two years, it has become a financial runaway train. And it is only we the people who can save it from completely derailing our country and all of us on board.

Last week, I discussed the first five steps to regain control of Washington's insane spending and rebuild America's economy. Though I encourage readers who didn't read it to do so to get the details, I will summarize the first five points before I move on to the last three.

First, Washington should immediately stop any thought, form or legislation that would lead to more federal borrowing or bailouts -- no exceptions.

Second, Washington should downsize the federal government by enacting tough spending caps and making across-the-board mandatory 10 percent cuts -- no exceptions.

Third, Washington should immediately revise the 2011 federal budget to align with those priority reductions and eliminate absolutely all earmarks -- no exceptions.

Fourth, Washington should engage in only non-debt-building actions and legislation that would immediately encourage Main Street and augment entrepreneurial incentives, including a commitment to never increase taxes for anyone for any reason but cut more taxes, which would provide immediate relief and increase revenues for everyone.

Fifth, Washington should discuss ways to encourage and equip interstate commerce and more collaboration among neighboring states, counties and communities -- to brainstorm their own solutions to increase revenue and productivity in their own regions.

Sixth, we the people should hold Washington representatives accountable to our Founders' fiscal prudence and federal frugalities, both by our vote and their passing and living under a constitutional amendment for a balanced federal budget, which would require them to live within their means. A balanced budget amendment also would cut up big daddy's credit card in Washington with its unlimited credit limit.


Seventh, because we the people need to ensure our future economic stability and growth, we should seek to elect (or re-elect) only fiscally sound representatives who show proof of fiscal discipline, demonstrate a pay-as-you-go lifestyle and leadership, refuse under all circumstances to increase our national deficit and debts, disdain special interests, commit to live under a constitutional amendment for a balanced budget, understand how to grow jobs and the economy, and are willing to make the most difficult economic decisions.

We need to elect only leaders who would slash government spending and refuse to pay for programs that we cannot afford. We all must fight (once and for all) to elect fiscally prudent politicians like our Founders, those like Thomas Jefferson, who brought down the national deficit even though he made the Louisiana Purchase and engaged the U.S. in a war with Tripoli.

Jefferson's warning about government debt and taxes is more apropos now than ever before: "To preserve (the) independence (of the people), we must not let our rulers load us with perpetual debt. We must make our election between economy and liberty, or profusion and servitude. If we run into such debts as that we must be taxed in our meat and in our drink, in our necessaries and our comforts, in our labors and our amusements, for our callings and our creeds, as the people of England are, our people, like them, must come to labor sixteen hours in the twenty-four, give the earnings of fifteen of these to the government for their debts and daily expenses, and the sixteenth being insufficient to afford us bread, we must live, as they now do, on oatmeal and potatoes, have no time to think, no means of calling the mismanagers to account, but be glad to obtain subsistence by hiring ourselves to rivet their chains on the necks of our fellow-sufferers."

This brings me to my eighth critical step in reining in and controlling the federal government's spending and rebuilding America's economy. We must return to a pay-as-you-go government and nation. It's our last resort for an out-of-control economy and government. As Jefferson once said, "the maxim of buying nothing but what we had money in our pockets to pay for (is) a maxim which, of all others, lays the broadest foundation for happiness."

Friends, it's not too late, but the window is closing fast. We likely have one more chance to drop our partisan divides and elect only those who would be strict constitutionalists and preservers of our Founders' vision, principles and fiscal prudence, before the American economy and government collapse.

It is the last hour before the election, and we patriots need to reawaken our friends and neighbors to vote, as I called on Americans to do in my recent comical production "Trigger The Vote."

Election Choices Matter

Clarity on the facts and issues that matter to America’s future should be important to every informed voter. This time of dramatic change is ushering in a real choice in the November election. As you’ve noticed, “We the People” are creating havoc in the establishment of both parties. Candidates are surfacing who promise to do more than talk principles; they promise to govern that way. That gives American voters important choices.

Choice #1: Bigger Government or More Empowered Individuals. Do you want big government determining which special interests are rewarded and which companies are “too big to fail,” or do you want limited government where all people can pursue their dreams, succeed, fail and take personal responsibility for inventing their own future? America was built on individual responsibility, caring communities, and free-enterprise opportunity where you earned your own success. The current administration is trying to spend and regulate its way into a recovery and job growth. Since President Obama’s first month in office, the number of private-sector jobs has decreased by nearly 2.7 million, and the number of federal government workers has increased by 379,000. A recent audit revealed that the $111 million of stimulus funds invested by Los Angeles created 55 jobs at a cost to taxpayers of $2 million per job. Big government is so out of control you can watch our deficit explode. It’s the private sector, not big government, that is the economic engine for recovery. With 44 million Americans now in poverty, have you had enough of bigger government?

Choice #2: Government Entitlements or Individual Responsibility and Charity. Government entitlements are relatively new in America, not existing before 1929. If somebody fell on tough times, family, friends, and neighbors helped. Now, sixty percent of Americans get more in public services than they pay in taxes. That isn’t charity; that is government taking money from some citizens by force of law through taxation to provide benefits to other citizens. Since 1929, entitlement benefits have exploded: Social Security (1929), National School Lunch (1946), Medicaid/Medicare (1965), Food Stamps (1974), Home Energy Assistance (1981), Medicare Prescription Drug Plan (2003), Healthcare Plan (2010). No entitlement has cost less than projected. When government makes promises it can’t afford, it either increases taxes, prints more money funded by debt paid by future generations, or drastically cuts promised services. A government creating dependent citizens is no more caring than parents spoiling dependent teenagers. Such programs leave future generations buried under the weight of our government largesse. Entitlements account for more than half of federal spending, and unfunded liabilities, the obligations not covered by payroll taxes, exceed $100 trillion. Are we ready to stop digging the hole deeper?

Choice #3: Punish Success or Incentivize the American Dream. Do you believe that incentives matter? Have you noticed that so-called “rich people who don’t pay their fair share” are being repeatedly tapped to pay the bill? Many economists are saying that the economy is poised to take off, but the private sector is lagging. It’s small business growth that has always fueled economic recoveries and job creation, but why should “the rich” risk capital? Instead of rewarding such risk, the current administration is adding burdensome regulations, increasing taxes on their income, and making it hard for them to survive in today’s competitive global economy. Liberals claim that “the rich” do not pay their fair share of taxes. That is a convenient myth used to justify envy and income redistribution. The richest 5% of our citizens pay 60% of the total federal income tax bill. If you agree that these citizens are not paying their “fair share,” try paying their share and see how it feels.

Choice #4: “The Gingrich Boom” or “The Pelosi Collapse.” Mid-term elections matter. People talk about the “Clinton Boom” and the “Bush Collapse,” but Michael Medved points out that it’s more accurate to contrast two mid-term “triumphs” that strongly impacted the American economy. In “The Gingrich Boom,” ushered in by the 1994 conservative takeover of both houses of Congress, average unemployment went from 6.5% to an average of 4.77%. The federal deficit average went from 3.35% of GDP to an average of less than zero with surpluses from 1998 to 2001. With “The Pelosi Collapse” initiated with the Democratic takeover in 2006, average unemployment went from 5.29% to an average of 6.57%. It’s now 9.6%. Sadly, the federal deficit average went from 1.91% of GDP to 4.74% in the next two years. Now the deficit spending has reached 10.27%.

Had enough? Ready for a change? The choice voters made in 1994 made a difference. Be an informed voter and make your vote count this November.

Washington (CNSNews.com) – Americans may disagree on their politics, and that’s okay, Glenn Beck told a crowd numbering in the hundreds of thousands on Saturday. But for the sake of the nation, Americans must agree on their values and principles.

Change for the better begins in each one of us, Beck said, as he urged Americans to turn to God – just as the Founding Fathers did. Your country needs you, he said.

Under warm, sunny skies, Americans from across the country trooped to the National Mall for Beck’s “Restoring Honor” rally.

From the steps of the Lincoln Memorial, the crowd rolled back to the World War II Memorial, and beyond that to the sloping lawn of the Washington Monument. Trying to reach the Mall from all sides, some people were too far away to clearly hear what was being said.

Near the end of the rally, a U.S. Park Police helicopter made several loops around the Mall, prompting Beck to joke that the crowd must be huge since the chopper was violating restricted air space to count it.

The crowd, as large as it was, was quiet and respectful. There was some flag-waving, but there were few, if any, signs visible on the Mall – in keeping with Beck’s request not to politicize the rally. Some people wore T-shirts with political messages, but many more people wore clothing with no message at all.

This was not a tea party event. Unlike the Al Sharpton rally, which took place Saturday afternoon at a nearby location, people did not come to the Mall to vent their frustration. Many at the Restoring Honor rally seemed to be seeking inspiration.

This was the kind of gathering where the frequent mentions of God, far from causing offense, drew applause.

With its theme of faith, hope and charity, the rally resembled an old-fashioned religious revival. And certainly the message was one of reviving a nation in turmoil.

Beginning around 10 a.m. with Sarah Palin’s call to honor the troops who defend us, the rally continued with various speakers handing out medals to three unsung heroes who exemplify the kind of faith, hope and charity that inspired the rally.

The Rev. C.L. Jackson of Houston, the longtime pastor of the Pleasant Grove Missionary Baptist Church in Houston, was honored for his faith; St. Louis Cardinals first baseman Albert Pujols, introduced by team manager Tony La Russa, was honored for inspiring hope through his family foundation that helps children with Down Syndrome; and billionaire philanthropist Jon M. Huntsman Sr. of Utah was honored for his charitable work in funding cancer research.

While Beck honored three living heroes at his rally, he also invoked patriots long dead.

He recited Abraham Lincoln’s Gettysburg Address to make the point that what is said at the Restoring Honor rally matters little, if it produces no action afterward on the part of those listening. (“If people awaken and turn around and see that we have lost our way, and they do something about it in their own lives, not through politics but in their own lives, then it's an important day. Otherwise, it was just a nice day out in the sunshine,” Beck told Fox News Sunday after the rally.)

Beck talked about George Washington’s many personal sacrifices for the good of the country. He also expressed the hope that somewhere in the crowd there is another George Washington: “He may be 8 years old,” Beck said, but “this is the moment that he dedicates his life, that he sees giants around him.”

Beck also talked about Dr. Martin Luther King Jr.’s message that the content of one’s character should count more than skin color. Of all the patriots he invoked, Beck said he could relate the most to Martin Luther King – “probably because we haven’t carved him in marble yet.”

The crowd applauded after one of the several large screens set up on the Mall showed clips of MLK making his “I Have a Dream” speech exactly 47 years ago – at that same place.

Interviewed after the rally, Beck told Fox News Sunday the message he tried to convey was to “be your highest self” and to “stand for those things that are right.”

“I think every American has a role in saving this country,” Beck told Fox News’s Chris Wallace. “Whether you're Democrat, Republican, independent, it doesn't matter. We all know the country's in trouble. We may disagree on how to solve it, but we all know the country's in trouble.”

Beck, responding to a question, said the size of the crowd at his rally sends two messages to politicians: First, “a good number of people are not happy with the direction we're going,” he said.

And second – “We want the truth. Americans just want the truth. And that's why I said [at the rally], demand the truth from yourself first before you demand it from someone else.”

This morning, (Saturday, August 14, 2010) Debra Burlingame, Keep America Safe Board Member and Co-founder of 9/11 Families for a Safe & Strong America, released the following statement in response to President Obama's remarks about the Ground Zero mosque.


"Barack Obama has abandoned America at the place where America's heart was broken nine years ago, and where her true values were on display for all to see. Since that dark day, Americans have been asked to bear the burden of defending those values, again and again and again. Now this president declares that the victims of 9/11 and their families must bear another burden. We must stand silent at the last place in America where 9/11 is still remembered with reverence or risk being called religious bigots.

"Muslims have worshipped in New York without incident both before and after the attacks of 9/11. This controversy is not about religious freedom. 9/11 was more than a 'deeply traumatic event,' it was an act of war. Building a 15-story mosque at Ground Zero is a deliberately provocative act that will precipitate more bloodshed in the name of Allah. Those who continue to target and kill American civilians and U.S. troops will see it as a symbol of their historic progress at the site of their most bloody victory. Demolishing a building that was damaged by wreckage from one of the hijacked planes in order to build a mosque and Islamic Center will further energize those who regard it as a ratification of their violent and divinely ordered mission: the spread of shariah law and its subjugation of all free people, including secular Muslims who come to this country fleeing that medieval ideology, which destroys lives and crushes the human spirit.

"We are stunned by the president's willingness to disregard what Americans should be proud of: our enduring generosity to others on 9/11--a day when human decency triumphed over human depravity. On that day, when 3,000 of our fellow human beings were killed in a barbaric act of raw religious intolerance unlike any this country had ever seen, Americans did not turn outward with hatred or violence, we turned to each other, armed with nothing more than American flags and countless acts of kindness. In a breathtakingly inappropriate setting, the president has chosen to declare our memories of 9/11 obsolete and the sanctity of Ground Zero finished. No one who has lived this history and felt the sting of our country's loss that day can truly believe that putting our families through more wrenching heartache can be an act of peace.

"We will honor the memory of our loved ones. We will protect our children, whose lives will never be the same. We will not stand silent."

The American people are already well aware of President Barack Obama’s historic expansion of government spending: his $862 billion economic stimulus that has completely failed to keep unemployment below 8% as promised; his still-expanding health care law which the Congressional Budget Office now admits will cost more than $1 trillion; and an Obama budget that increases government spending by $12,000 per household. But all that spending is just the first half of President Obama’s game plan.

The second half of Obama’s attempted transformation began last night when the Senate rejected Sen. Jim DeMint’s (R-SC) effort to end the Death Tax. This year is actually the first year since 1916 that Americans do not have to pay any federal taxes when a family member dies. But thanks to the way Congress had to pass the legislation that phased out the Death Tax in 2001, it is set to go from zero percent to 55 percent at the stroke of midnight on December 31, 2010. The Death Tax is but one of many government taxes on capital and entrepreneurship, and its reinstatement will be yet another job killer from the Obama administration. It rewards estate tax lawyers, insurance companies and big businesses at the expense of small family-owned enterprises. According to a study by the American Family Business Foundation, a full repeal of the death tax, like the one rejected by the Senate last night, would create 1.5 million jobs. Before the vote, Sen. DeMint described the tax as an “unfair, immoral double tax on property and assets that folks have already paid taxes on throughout their lives.” He added: “The Obama death tax is just the latest example of this administration’s assault on small businesses.”

Sen. DeMint is dead on. Last night’s vote to raise the Death Tax is just the beginning of the Obama administration’s historic tax hike campaign. Unless Congress acts to oppose President Obama’s agenda, everyone’s taxes on personal income, capital gains and dividends will rise. Married couples will see their taxes rise even higher, as will families with children. According to The Tax Foundation, a family of four with two earners making $85,000 a year would pay about $1,800 more in federal income taxes in 2011. Tax Foundation president Scott Hodge tells MSNBC: “I’m hard pressed to think of another moment in the history of the tax code in which we have had so many provisions expire at the same time impacting so many Americans all at once.”

For two generations after post-war reconstruction, Europe and America have pursued different economic models, and accordingly, moved in different economic directions. The American model was low tax, low spending and small government. It favored growth, income and vibrancy. The European model is high tax, high spending and big government. It favored fairness, equality and stability. It also featured unemployment rates double those of the United States, often hovering around 10 percent. Now that is no longer the case. Under Obama’s economic leadership, U.S. unemployment rates are surpassing Europe’s.

Last night’s vote was just the beginning of a larger choice the American people must make: do they want to continue down the Obama path of high taxes, high spending and high unemployment? Or do they still believe in American exceptionalism, in limited government and in a vibrant U.S. economy? Last night’s vote was a step in the wrong direction.

•While the Obama administration continues to kill thousands of jobs in the Gulf with its oil drilling ban, countries like Norway, Brazil and Canada are increasing their deep-water oil drilling.

•While the oil spill has been an economic disaster for the Gulf, like everything else in the Obama administration, it has been a boon to Washington’s economy as energy and environmental groups spent millions to shape any energy legislation inspired by the crisis.

•According to The New York Times, the TARP inspector general has called the Obama administration’s mortgage modification program “one of the greatest failures” of the Treasury Department.

•Thanks to unemployed older Americans, illegal immigrants and an increase in the minimum wage, the teen unemployment rate in June was at 25.7 percent – about three times the national rate of 9.5 percent.

•According to Gallup, only 11 percent of Americans say they have a great deal or quite a lot of confidence in Congress, placing them dead last out of the 16 institutions rated this year

African-American tea party candidates erupted Wednesday over an NAACP resolution labeling the grass-roots conservative movement as “racist.”

“I have not experienced the charges of racism that the NAACP is touting,” Vernon Parker, an African-American tea party congressional candidate in Arizona, told Politico.

Parker, former mayor of Paradise Valley, told Politico that he has never felt out of place at a tea party rally because of the color of his skin.

“When I go to tea party events, people don’t look at me any differently,” he said. “They didn’t judge me on the color of my skin, quite frankly, they judged me on my principles."

"The NAACP should be concerned about bringing jobs to people in depressed areas,” he added, “not the tea party.”

Another African-American tea party candidate, Tim Scott, a GOP congressional nominee in South Carolina, echoed Parker’s sentiments in a statement to Politico.

“I believe that the NAACP is making a grave mistake in stereotyping a diverse group of Americans who care deeply about their country and who contribute their time, energy and resources to make a difference,” Scott said.

“As I campaign in South Carolina, I participate in numerous events sponsored by the tea party, 9/12, Patriot, and other like-minded groups, and I have had the blessing to get to know many of the men and women who make up these energetic grass-roots organizations,” Scott added.

“Americans need to know that the tea party is a color-blind movement that has principled differences with many of the leaders in Washington, both Democrats and Republicans.”

The resolution the NAACP approved at its annual conference in Kansas City alleges that tea party groups have used racist epithets in attacks on President Barack Obama and have verbally and physically abused African-American members of Congress, according to Politico.
