FBI, dragging feet on IRS probe, finally contacts tea party groups Contacts were due 7 months ago

The Washington Times, by Stephan Dinan, January 9, 2014

The FBI finally has begun to contact some of the tea party groups targeted by the Internal Revenue Service for inappropriate scrutiny in the first public signs that the administration’s criminal investigation is progressing.

A lawyer representing some of the tea party groups that battled the IRS for tax-exempt status told The Washington Times that a “small number” of his clients were recently contacted, seven months after the investigation was supposed to have begun.

The progress was revealed a day after The Times reported that the Justice Department lawyer who is leading the investigation into the IRS, Barbara Kay Bosserman, has donated more than $6,000 to President Obama’s presidential campaigns — a move that, for many Republicans, has called into question the entire investigation.

“They say the fox isn’t good to guard the henhouse; the fox is probably not good to investigate the henhouse, either,” said Sen. Rand Paul, Kentucky Republican. “I think these investigations need to be done by independent people outside of the administration.”

Issa: FBI impeding inquiry into IRS targeting of conservative groups

The House’s chief investigator says the FBI is stonewalling his inquiry into whether the agency and the Internal Revenue Service targeted conservative group True the Vote for special scrutiny, and Rep. Darrell E. Issa is now threatening subpoenas to pry loose the information from FBI Director James B. Comey Jr.

Mr. Issa, California Republican, and Rep. Jim Jordan, Ohio Republican, are leading the House Oversight and Government Reform Committee’s IRS inquiry. They also said the FBI is refusing to turn over any documents related to its own investigation into the IRS, which began in the days after an auditor’s report revealed the tax agency had improperly targeted tea party groups for special scrutiny.

Six months after it began, the FBIs investigation has resulted in no release of information. The congressmen said the FBI even rescinded an offer for an in-person briefing with the assistant director in charge of the investigation. The reversal, after the FBI consulted with the Justice Department, suggests political meddling, the two investigators said.

The FBI and the Muslim Brotherhood

CANADA FREE PRESS
August 30, 2013

A recent report in Mother Jones magazine has given the lie to FBI Director Robert Mueller’s defense of his agency’s failure to take any action against Nidal Hasan, despite intercepting a series of emails between the mass murderer and terrorist Anwar al-Awlaki, beginning as early as 2008.

Appearing on CBS News last Thursday, Mueller was asked if his agency “dropped the ball.”“No, I think, given the context of the discussions and the situation that the agents and the analysts were looking at, they took appropriate steps,” he responded.

Mueller’s statements are shocking in light of the mountain of evidence showing FBI dereliction of duty, which is now finally getting the media attention it deserves. On the other hand, Mueller’s remarks make perfect sense given the Obama administration’s long and disturbing track record of allowing Islamists to shape U.S. national security policy, including at the FBI. Mueller himself has been Obama’s point man in that effort.

Recall that in 2012, the FBI eliminated 876 pages and 392 presentations from its counterterrorism training manuals. At the time,FBI spokesman Christopher Allen said that the Bureau found some of the material to be inaccurate, too broad or, in some cases, offensive, because it allegedly characterized Muslims as prone to violence and/or terrorism. Four criteria were used in the purge, including the politically incorrect metrics of “poor taste” and “stereotyping.” Former Congressman Allen West (R-FL) made a stir at the time forcharacterizing the purge as “cultural suicide” that was influenced by the Muslim Brotherhood and its associated groups.

Letter to the Editor: Bengazi Attack, by Nancy Murdoch, CCTA Chairman

Submitted to the New Bern Sun Journal:

The death of Ambassador Stevens and three other Americans shines the light of truth on the negligence of the Obama administration. What may be worse than their sheer incompetence is the dishonesty and hype employed to cover up their lies and failures.

Both President Obama and Hillary Clinton attempted to blame the tragedy on a sophomoric video mocking Mohammed. Instead of taking advantage of an opportunity to vigorously tout the strengths of our earned freedom, Obama and company repeated the “apology tour”. When the smoke screen of the video began to look like a losing argument, the administration trotted out UN Ambassador Susan Rice to push the story of spontaneous violence rising from peaceful protests. Yep, peaceful protestors carrying rocket propelled grenades. More disturbing is the weapons likely came from the U.S.

Not only were additional security requests denied, but the bare essentials were pulled out of Libya right before 9/11. American citizens were left defenseless in a war torn area. There had been 13 previous terror attacks and we know Ambassador Stevens was rightly concerned about his own safety. Both the British Embassy and the Red Cross had closed.

Surely the basic truth was known with 24 hours of the event, so why continue the fabrication? It is impossible to ascertain the reasons behind the big lie but perhaps they would rather blame Americans than evil radicals. Or is it just politics? Why is there such a big disconnect between the White House and the State Department? Why was Ambassador Rice willing to ruin her credibility by pushing the White House story? Why did weeks pass before the FBI went to Benghazi?

The words radical Islam and jihad have been basically banned from government language. You may see no evil, hear no evil or speak no evil, but evil will still exist. Appeasement is the strategy of cowards.

What “bump in the road” will be used to blame the next unfortunate event occurring in the Middle East? The odds of another event are high as the actions of this administration have emboldened our enemies. Who would expect our own government to lie for our enemies? Rather than hope and change we are left with fear, uncertainty and debt. Only true demagogues or fools would want four more years of this incompetence and corruption.

FBI Terrorist Alert: Beware of Those Who 'Reference the Constitution or Bible'--Memo to Ron Paul supporters -- and anyone else interested in restoring constitutional integrity

"Wherever the real power in a Government lies, there is the danger of oppression." --James Madison (1788)

The FBI held a press conference this week on a terrorist alert bulletin, which it sent to every federal, state and local law enforcement agency across the country. Unfortunately, that bulletin continued a trend of "terrorist profiles" issued since Barack Hussein Obama has been in office. This particular alert identified such broad ideological characteristics that it can be construed to include the activities of tens of millions of law-abiding Americans.

FOX NEWS: Police chiefs to discuss terrorism at White House

Published January 18, 2012

The Obama administration is providing senior state and local police officials with its analysis of homegrown terrorism incidents, including common signs law enforcement can use to identify violent extremists.

The warning signs identified for police include someone joining a group advocating violence, receiving support from a network that plans attacks or seeking out charismatic leaders who encourage violence. The analysis was conducted by the Homeland Security Department, the FBI and the National Counterterrorism Center. An overview of the findings was shared with The Associated Press.

The conference Wednesday at the White House marks the first time this unclassified analysis will be presented to 46 senior federal, state and local law enforcement officials, many of whom are police chiefs and sheriffs. The conference will also include sessions on other programs the federal government has for countering violent extremism and a briefing from a deputy chief of the Los Angeles Police Department about what the city has done on this front.

"Engaging local communities is critical to our nation's effort to counter violent extremism and violent crime, and this meeting brings together many of our partners," Homeland Security Secretary Janet Napolitano said. Napolitano, Attorney General Eric Holder and the president's counterterrorism adviser, John Brennan, planned to attend the White House conference.

There has been an uptick in attempted attacks by Americans and other legal U.S. residents in the past few years, prompting the Obama administration to place a priority on finding ways to stop this type of violence. The administration rolled out a thin strategy last year that put local communities — not Washington — in charge of countering violent extremism in the U.S. That strategy was short on details and did not focus on threats from Islamic extremists.

The White House has encouraged law enforcement to reach out to Muslim communities to build relationships, insisting that these communities are partners in the fight against terrorism. At the same time, the government is trying to develop ways to help local law enforcement detect behavior that could indicate someone is plotting a violent attack. The challenge has been to provide behavioral indicators that indicate the potential for violence rather than religious beliefs or other constitutionally-protected rights.

Analysts from the FBI, Homeland Security Department and National Counterterrorism Center reviewed 62 cases of homegrown violent extremists and found basic similarities.  The cases included violent extremists who adhered to a mix of ideologies, including people who ascribed to white supremacist beliefs and people inspired by a violent interpretation of Islam. The analysis is not a psychological profile of a homegrown terrorist, but instead offers similarities among cases that could help local law enforcement better understand and detect threats.

In the 62 cases reviewed, (HERE COMES THE SCARY PART) the subjects increasingly spoke out against the government, blamed the government for perceived problems and did so in a way that caught the attention of other people in their communities, according to the senior counterterrorism official who spoke on condition of anonymity to discuss the private White House event. Subjects became active on the Internet to espouse extremist views. In some cases, the subjects purchased weapons, ammunition or explosive materials.

Analysts found that a person's origin, ethnic background and socioeconomic status are not good indicators for potential violent extremist activity, the senior counterterrorism official said

Muslim Brotherhood infiltrates top Government positions

Fact: The FBI’s Assistant Director for the Weapons of Mass Destruction Directorate is an Iranian-born Muslim. Fact: MPAC (Muslim Public Affairs Council) trains the TSA.

Does this alarm you? Are you freaking out? You should be.

Documents found at a 2004 raid in Virginia included a Muslim Brotherhood mission statement that says, “The process of settlement” is a “Civilization-Jihadist Process”…(our) work in America is a kind of grand jihad in eliminating and destroying the Western civilization from within and “sabotaging” its miserable house by their hands and the hands of the believers so that it is eliminated and God’s (Allah’s) religion is made victorious over all other religions.”

Muslim Homeland Security Advisor Accused of Leaking Documents to Prove ‘Islamophobia,’ Damage Rick Perry

Out of a 26-member advisory council, the Department of Homeland Security allowed just one advisor, Mohammed Elibiary, special access to a nationwide database that includes terror watch lists and FBI sensitive reports. Now, the Texas Muslim is being accused of leaking some of those documents to the media with the stated goal of damaging Texas governor and Republican presidential candidate Rick Perry. Elibiary asserts that the documents show what he calls the “Islamophobia” of Texas government agencies.

Gibson CEO Slams ‘Big Liberal’ Obama - By Robert Costa - The Corner - National Review Online

Gibson CEO Slams ‘Big Liberal’ Obama - By Robert Costa - The Corner - National Review Online

Henry Juszkiewicz, the chief executive officer of Gibson Guitar Corp., tells National Review Online that President Obama, a “big liberal,” has done “untold damage to business” and should not be applauded for his jobs speech. ”He’s a government fan,” he says. “He has a problem with successful businesses. He thinks they’re the problem, that they shouldn’t be quite as successful.”

“He is using the levers of government to not only redistribute, but to penalize,” he adds. “I see a difference between what he said and what he’s doing.”

Gibson has been under federal investigation in recent months, reportedly for its importation practices. Juskiewicz blames the Obama administration for causing his company, an iconic American brand, to lose money and lawyer up.

BOOK NOOK! MUSLIM MAFIA IS A MUST READ!

General urges Americans to read 'Muslim Mafia'
Boykin gives impassioned plea for exposé of stealth jihad

Retired Lt. Gen. William G. Boykin, former U.S. deputy undersecretary of defense for intelligence, made an impassioned plea for Americans – especially Christians – to learn about the inner workings of stealth jihadists by reading "Muslim Mafia: Inside the Secret Underworld That's Conspiring to Islamize America," a book based on the covert penetration of the Council on American-Islamic Relations.

Boykin, who has played a role in almost every recent major American military operation – serving in Grenada, Somalia and Iraq – spoke at a prophecy conference in California sponsored by evangelical leader Greg Laurie.

"There's a recent book that came out called ';Muslim Mafia,'" said Boykin, currently a professor at Hampden-Sydney College in Virginia and author of "Never Surrender: A Soldier's Journey to the Crossroads of Faith and Freedom." "Have any of you read this? Have any of you ever seen it? I encourage you to get this book – 'Muslim Mafia.' ... This book will scare you. This book will open your eyes. This book will shake you. What this book says is frightening,"

Boykin went on to tell his audience of thousands at the Harvest Christian Fellowship about some of the revelations in the book by P. David Gaubatz and Paul Sperry:

New evidence that CAIR was launched to support the Hamas terrorist group and has transferred tens of thousands of dollars to a group recently convicted as Hamas' top fundraising arm in the U.S. – money that ended up aiding terrorist attacks on Israelis and Americans;

Internal documents showing CAIR, despite claims of cooperating with law enforcement, actively works behind the scenes to mislead and deceive the FBI on behalf of terrorism suspects – and has even cultivated Muslim moles inside law enforcement who have tipped off FBI terror targets;

CAIR is more closely tied to al-Qaida than previously reported;

CAIR claims to represent all Muslim Americans; however, it has victimized some 100 indigent Muslims in a massive fraud and threatened them when they tried to go to the media; and internally, personnel complaints reveal CAIR discriminates against Shiite Muslims and Muslim women within its own headquarters;

CAIR and its sister fronts are funded by foreign Muslim Brotherhood sources;

CAIR leaders share the Muslim Brotherhood's ultimate goal to replace the U.S. Constitution with Islamic law;

The Muslim Brotherhood investment in corporate America will be used to pressure U.S. companies into compliance with Islamic principles.

"That's a testimonial I treasure," said Joseph Farah, chief executive officer of WND and WND Books, the publisher of "Muslim Mafia." "I've been promoting this groundbreaking investigation for a year, and for a year what I call the "Media Mafia" has been covering up the shocking revelations. I appreciate the courage General Boykin demonstrated by speaking out."

Coinciding with the one-year anniversary of the release of "Muslim Mafia" last October, Farah has been making a new effort to revisit the subject matter.

"Take General Boykin's challenge – get yourself a copy of 'Muslim Mafia' today," he says. "Share it with your friends. Donate a copy to your local library. Pass on a copy to your representative in Congress. Give one to your local law enforcement agency."

Report: US would make Internet wiretaps easier

By LOLITA C. BALDOR (AP) – 19 hours ago

WASHINGTON — The Obama administration is pushing to make it easier for the government to tap into internet and e-mail communications. But the plan has already drawn condemnation from privacy groups and communications firms may be wary of its costs and scope.

Frustrated by sophisticated and often encrypted phone and e-mail technologies, U.S. officials say that law enforcement needs to improve its ability to eavesdrop on conversations involving terrorism, crimes or other public safety issues.

Critics worry the changes are an unnecessary invasion of privacy and would only make citizens and businesses more vulnerable to identity theft and espionage.

The new regulations that would be sent to Congress next year would affect American and foreign companies that provide communications services inside the U.S. It would require service providers to make the plain text of encrypted conversations — over the phone, computer or e-mail — readily available to law enforcement, according to federal officials and analysts.

The mandate would likely require companies to add backdoors or other changes to the systems that would allow a wiretap to capture an unscrambled version of a conversation.

Those affected by the changes would include online services and networking sites such as Facebook and Skype, as well as phone systems that deliver encrypted e-mail such as BlackBerry.

"The way we communicate has changed dramatically since 1994, but telecommunications law has not kept up. This gap between reality and the law has created a significant national security and public safety problem," said Valerie E. Caproni, the FBI's General Counsel.

She said the changes would not expand law enforcement authority and would involve legally authorized intercepts on calls or e-mails sent by terrorists or other criminals. The changes would allow companies to respond quickly to wiretap requests from local, state and federal authorities.

The New York Times first reported Monday about White House plans to submit the new bill next year.

Law enforcement is already able to monitor regular telephone conversations.

"In the old days, the technology was simple to wiretap," said cybersecurity expert James Lewis, a senior fellow at the Center for Strategic and International Studies. "As technologies have gotten better and faster and bigger, it's harder and harder for law enforcement to intercept communications."

Lewis said law enforcement officials have long been pushing for the expanded access. He said the technology is available to make the changes and allow authorities to tap into conversations encrypted by communications companies as they move from one person to another.

Communications companies, he said, may have concerns about the costs of modifying their systems or software to allow the intercepts. The government may have to provide some funding aid.

Companies may also balk if the government tries to tell them how to alter their systems.

But Lewis said many companies are already providing similar capabilities to law enforcement in other countries in Europe and the Middle East.

Wiretapping is vital for law enforcement agencies, said Lewis, because "it provides crucial evidence that wins a lot of their convictions. As technology changes, as the Internet changes, they have to keep up or they'll lose an important tool in their arsenal."

Civil rights and privacy groups were quick to condemn the plan, warning that the administration faces an uphill battle.

"This is a shortsighted and ill-conceived power grab by some in the administration," said Marc Rotenberg, executive director of the Washington-based Electronic Privacy Information Center. "The balance has swung radically toward enhanced law enforcement powers. For them to argue that it's still not enough is just unbelievable. It's breathtaking in its hubris."

He said that over the past 15 years — particularly since the Sept. 11, 2001, terror attacks — the standards for warrants have been lowered. And he said law enforcement has many new technologies, ranging from biometric tracking to DNA databases, to enhance its information gathering.

Christopher Calabrese, legislative counsel for the American Civil Liberties Union, said that mandating that all communications software be accessible to the government is a "huge privacy invasion."

"Under the guise of a technical fix, the government looks to be taking one more step toward conducting easy dragnet collection of Americans' most private communications," Calabrese said. "This proposal will create even more security risks by mandating that our communications have a 'backdoor' for government use and will make our online interactions even more vulnerable."

FBI Uncovers Largest Human-Trafficking Case in U.S. History

On September 2, a federal grand jury indicted six alleged smugglers in what the FBI has called the largest human-trafficking case in U.S. history. (Associated Press, September 2, 2010). In the indictment, the government alleges that the defendants, four of whom are employees of the Los Angeles-based labor recruiting firm, Global Horizons Manpower Inc., conspired and devised a scheme to obtain the labor of approximately 400 Thai nationals by enticing them to come to the United States through the H-2A agricultural guest worker program during 2004 and 2005 with false promises of lucrative jobs. (FBI Press Release, September 2, 2010).

According to the government, the defendants then charged the Thai workers high recruitment fees, which were financed by debts secured with the workers’ family property and homes. However, once the workers arrived in the U.S., the labor recruiters confiscated their passports and placed them on various farms throughout the country, where they were forced to work in substandard conditions. (Id.) Attorneys for some of the workers say that Global Horizons Manpower sent them to farms in more than a dozen states, including Hawaii, Washington, California, Colorado, Florida, Kentucky, Massachusetts, New York, Ohio, South Carolina, Tennessee, Texas and Utah. (USA Today, September 3, 2010).

FBI Special Agent Tom Simon described the actions of the recruiting firm as a “classic bait-and-switch.” (Herald Sun, September 3, 2010). “They were telling the Thai workers one thing to lure them here. Then when they got here, their passports were taken away, and they were held in forced servitude working in these farms.” (Id.) As further alleged in the indictment, “[t]he object of the conspiracy was to obtain cheap, compliant labor,” and that once the workers were “indebted by the defendants’ recruitment fees,” they were compelled to work as a result of economic coercion and threats of incarceration and deportation. (Id.)

Pew Report: Illegal Immigration Slows in 2009

The rate of illegal immigration to the U.S. has slowed in 2009 according to the latest Pew Hispanic Center report. The report, released on September 1, 2010, revealed that the annual inflow of unauthorized immigrants to the U.S. was nearly two-thirds smaller in the March 2007 to March 2009 period than it had been from March 2000 to March 2005. According to the Pew Hispanic Center, the annual inflow rate slowed by eight percent:

During the first half of the decade, an average of about 850,000 new unauthorized immigrants entered each year, increasing the unauthorized population from 8.4 million in 2000 to 11.1 million in 2005. Since then, the average inflow dropped to about 550,000 per year from March 2005 to March 2007 and declined further to an average of 300,000 per year for March 2007 to March 2009.

This reduced rate of inflow, says the Pew Hispanic Center, combined with increased enforcement efforts played a role in lowering the illegal alien population to what it estimates is now 11.1 million. But despite the overall drop in the illegal alien population, Pew still estimates that the illegal alien population in the United States grew 32 percent from 2000 to 2009. In fact, “nearly half of unauthorized immigrants living in the country in 2009—47%, or 5.2 million people—arrived in 2000 or later.”

Although Pew estimates that the illegal alien population has declined in 2009, Mexican nationals still constituted roughly the same portion of the illegal alien population, about 60 percent or 6.7 million. According to the Pew Hispanic Center report, “[t]he unauthorized population from Mexico grew steadily from 2001 to 2007, expanding from 4.8 million to 7 million during those years” and this number has since remained “stable.” Another 2.2 million illegal aliens living in the U.S. in 2009 were from other Latin American countries.

Significantly, as the U.S. economy has suffered through a severe recession, the Pew report also revealed that there were approximately 7.8 million illegal aliens in the U.S. labor force as of March 2009—a number representing 5.1 percent of the country’s total labor force. During 2009, illegal alien men had only a 10 percent unemployment rate, a rate lower than the 11 percent rate for U.S.-born workers and slightly lower than the 10.2 percent rate for legal immigrant workers.

FAIR Continues to Fight for Arizona

On September 2, 2010, 66 members of Congress—five Senators and 61 Representatives—filed an amicus brief in the Ninth Circuit Court of Appeals appealing Judge Susan Bolton’s decision in the U.S. Justice Department’s suit against the State of Arizona over SB 1070. The brief, which was drafted with the assistance of the Immigration Reform Law Institute (IRLI) and the American Center for Law and Justice (ACLJ), was the second amicus brief to be filed by members of Congress who support SB 1070. The first brief was filed on July 20, 2010 before Judge Bolton handed down her decision enjoining several key provisions of the Arizona law, largely adopting the arguments made by the U.S. Justice Department. (See FAIR’s Legislative Update, August 2, 2010).

Judge Bolton’s ruling is now on appeal before the Ninth Circuit Court of Appeals. The appellate brief argues that Judge Bolton erred in enjoining SB 1070 in two key ways. First, the brief argues that Judge Bolton relied on case-law that was rendered inapplicable by subsequent alien registration laws passed by Congress. The brief also argues that Judge Bolton misapplied the standard articulated by the U.S. Supreme Court for evaluating statutes of the nature presented in SB 1070. The Ninth Circuit is slated to hear oral arguments in the case in November.

Dismantling America

Thomas Sowell:   Dismantling America

Just one year ago, would you have believed that an unelected government official, not even a Cabinet member confirmed by the Senate but simply one of the many "czars" appointed by the President, could arbitrarily cut the pay of executives in private businesses by 50 percent or 90 percent?

Did you think that another "czar" would be talking about restricting talk radio? That there would be plans afloat to subsidize newspapers-- that is, to create a situation where some newspapers' survival would depend on the government liking what they publish?

Did you imagine that anyone would even be talking about having a panel of so-called "experts" deciding who could and could not get life-saving medical treatments?

Scary as that is from a medical standpoint, it is also chilling from the standpoint of freedom. If you have a mother who needs a heart operation or a child with some dire medical condition, how free would you feel to speak out against an administration that has the power to make life and death decisions about your loved ones?

Does any of this sound like America?

How about a federal agency giving school children material to enlist them on the side of the president? Merely being assigned to sing his praises in class is apparently not enough.

How much of America would be left if the federal government continued on this path? President Obama has already floated the idea of a national police force, something we have done without for more than two centuries.

We already have local police forces all across the country and military forces for national defense, as well as the FBI for federal crimes and the National Guard for local emergencies. What would be the role of a national police force created by Barack Obama, with all its leaders appointed by him? It would seem more like the brown shirts of dictators than like anything American.

How far the President will go depends of course on how much resistance he meets. But the direction in which he is trying to go tells us more than all his rhetoric or media spin.

Barack Obama has not only said that he is out to "change the United States of America," the people he has been associated with for years have expressed in words and deeds their hostility to the values, the principles and the people of this country.

Jeremiah Wright said it with words: "God damn America!" Bill Ayers said it with bombs that he planted. Community activist goons have said it with their contempt for the rights of other people.

Among the people appointed as czars by President Obama have been people who have praised enemy dictators like Mao, who have seen the public schools as places to promote sexual practices contrary to the values of most Americans, to a captive audience of children.

Those who say that the Obama administration should have investigated those people more thoroughly before appointing them are missing the point completely. Why should we assume that Barack Obama didn't know what such people were like, when he has been associating with precisely these kinds of people for decades before he reached the White House?

Nothing is more consistent with his lifelong patterns than putting such people in government-- people who reject American values, resent Americans in general and successful Americans in particular, as well as resenting America's influence in the world.

Any miscalculation on his part would be in not thinking that others would discover what these stealth appointees were like. Had it not been for the Fox News Channel, these stealth appointees might have remained unexposed for what they are. Fox News is now high on the administration's enemies list.

Nothing so epitomizes President Obama's own contempt for American values and traditions like trying to ram two bills through Congress in his first year-- each bill more than a thousand pages long-- too fast for either of them to be read, much less discussed. That he succeeded only the first time says that some people are starting to wake up. Whether enough people will wake up in time to keep America from being dismantled, piece by piece, is another question-- and the biggest question for this generation.
