Obamacare Protest - Wed in Raleigh....

The John Locke Foundation and the Americans for Prosperity-NC need you in Raleigh!
"Lie of the Year" Raleigh Rally on 1/15/14

You probably have heard that President Obama will be speaking about economic issues at NCSU on Wednesday. While he claims the recession is over, his economic policies have led to long term underemployment (about 12%) , while he claims 8 million jobs added. Add this to Obamacare, which is likely to make things worse and 47 million American on food stamps.

Americans for Prosperity has asked for our help to protest this President's failed policies. They hope to get a very large crowd at NCSU to protest.

The John Locke Foundation will be hosting a free lunch at their headquarters starting at about 11:00 am and then providing either carpools or busses to NCSU for the protest at 12:15.

The Wake County Republican Party supports this protest and hope that many conservatives will join this effort.

Americans for Prosperity--ACTION ALERT!

June 4, 2013

North Carolina has a shot at expanding school choice for parents, but we need your help!

House Bill 944 – the Opportunity Scholarship Act – would create North Carolina’s first school voucher program. This bill, if passed, would give scholarships for students to attend private schools and provide increased educational freedom for families!

Help North Carolina expand educational freedom by contacting your representative to support House Bill 944.

Some state and local governments offer vouchers to help parents pay for tuition at a private school instead of enrolling their children in the local public school. Giving parents more resources to choose the best option for their children’s education has improved outcomes for these children, but it also has improved the quality of the public schools that now must compete for students or be left behind.

Eleven states and the District of Columbia have established this type of program – now it is time for North Carolina to step up for parents.

Click here to contact your state legislators and Governor McCrory and urge them to support House Bill 944.

This bill is not a partisan issue. Both Democrats and Republicans are sponsoring this bill. It is simply about increasing educational freedom for families.

AFP-North Carolina supports House Bill 944 – the Opportunity Scholarship Act - and we hope you will ask your lawmaker to do so as well.

Sincerely,
Dallas Woodhouse
North Carolina State Director

Americans for Prosperity: Control or Choice?

Medicare’s growth is unsustainable. Medicare provides health insurance to almost 50 million seniors and costs taxpayers more than $550 billion a year. By the end of the decade Medicare will spend almost a trillion dollars every single year. Both President Obama and Congressman Paul Ryan have proposed sweeping changes to the Medicare system.

In this new four-part series, Americans for Prosperity explores Medicare’s sustainability, President Obama’s plan, Congressman Ryan’s plan and Medicare’s best path forward.

Part I: What is Medicare?

Part II: President Obama’s Medicare Plan

Part III: Congressman Ryan’s Medicare Plan

Part IV: Medicare’s Best Path Forward

Americans for Prosperity: Fall Issues Update

Congress is currently in the middle of its traditional August recess, but they will have a full agenda in September when they return. Tax reform, violating last year’s debt ceiling deal and health care are poised to dominate the policy discourse. We’ll continue to update you about critical developments as they occur.

Staying informed is pivotal to being a good activist. Click below to learn more from our sister organization, Americans for Prosperity Foundation, about these pressing issues for the fall.

Need to Know: Fiscal Cliff:  January 1, 2013 brings the expiration of the Bush era tax cuts; it will also usher in several new taxes from the President’s health care law. The dramatic increase in taxes will surely hit this weak economic recovery.

Need to Know: Medicare and IPAB:  Congressman Paul Ryan’s selection as the Republican vice-presidential candidate put a spotlight back on Medicare and the President’s use of a board of 15 unelected, unaccountable bureaucrats to control Medicare.

Need to Know: The Budget Control Act:  Last summer, Congress agreed to raise the debt ceiling in exchange for $1.2 trillion cuts in spending dubbed the sequester. Congress seems poised to undo their agreement from only a year ago.

Need to Know: Medicaid Expansion:  Following the Supreme Court’s ruling on health care, states now have the option whether to expand their broken, costly Medicaid system.

Sincerely,
Americans for Prosperity

AFP Launching $5.5 Million Ad Effort

ARLINGTON, VA – Today Americans for Prosperity (AFP), the nation’s largest advocate for economic freedom, announced a multi-state ad effort that demonstrates how badly President Obama is out of touch with the real economy. “When President Obama said the private sector was doing ‘just fine,’ he surpassed his own bad record of being out of touch with the economic challenges Americans are facing. Our new ad demonstrates just how far removed the president is from the real economy,” said AFP President Tim Phillips. “The fact is the private sector is severely hampered by the specter of rising taxes and new regulations.”

Titled Doing Fine, the new ad begins airing today and will run for ten days in Colorado, Florida, Nevada, North Carolina, Ohio, and Pennsylvania. Doing Fine calls on President Obama to support the AFP Jobs Agenda, which encompasses a number of policies proven to support a vibrant economy and job creation.

This latest ad effort brings the total amount that AFP has spent educating on President Obama’s disastrous policies to $20 million since last Fall.

In addition to this major ad buy, AFP will be conducting grassroots efforts educating citizens on other big spending politicians who support the Obama agenda, including this ad on Senator Tester, which is currently running throughout Montana and is supported by the Tester Truth Tour.

A Message from Americans for Prosperity of NC

This week, the Senate will begin consideration of S. 3240, the massive farm bill that sets agriculture and food policy. Like its predecessors, the 2012 farm bill is shaping up to be nothing more than a big handout to agri-businesses.

This farm bill continues Washington’s reckless, runaway spending. The non-partisan Congressional Budget Office estimates that the Senate farm bill will cost $969 billion over the next decade. We simply can’t afford to continue such out-of-control spending.

Although S. 3240 repeals some of the current price and income support programs, it replaces them with new programs that essentially do the same thing. Under the proposed “shallow-loss” program, Congress would guarantee that a crop producer’s revenues will never drop below 90% of the average revenues they received over the previous five years—a program that will be especially expensive given the high prices for commodities like corn and soy beans in recent years.

The bill also spends more on other subsidies. It provides unlimited funds for crop insurance, and it greatly expands funding for agricultural research and development.

The federal government should not be in the business of guaranteeing people’s income or providing lavish subsidies for agri-businesses. For a more on the Senate farm bill check out AFP’s recent letter of opposition.

And be sure to keep the heat on your representatives in Congress to cut wasteful farm subsidies!

AMERICANS FOR PROSPERITY GOES TO RALEIGH!

On Thursday, May 24 Americans for Prosperity will bring busloads of activists to Raleigh to encourage NC House members to stop abusive forced annexations once and for all.

Buses will leave from the locations below. Save your seat by CLICKING HERE.

8:00 am Monkey Junction, Wilmington--Home Depot 5511 Carolina Beach Road Wilmington , NC 28412 Beside Staples and across from Walmart. Cars should be parked at the back of the parking lot towards the Wachovia.
8:30 am Wilmington--Home Depot 210 Eastwood Road , Wilmington , NC

Intersection of Market and Eastwood by Gold's Gym. Cars should park in the area of parking lot shared with Kohl's.
8:30 am Lexington Walmart parking lot, 160 Lowes Blvd. , Lexington , NC 27292
9:15 am McLeansville Lions Club 1124 Mount Hope Church Rd. in McLeansville , North Carolina
9:30 am Oak Level Baptist Church, 3598 Oak Level Road, Rocky Mount, NC 27804

WEAR RED SHIRTS!

(We Cannot guarantee time of departure from Raleigh.)

It looks like the state Senate is keeping its promise to defend the recent grassroots victory over forced municipal annexation. Now, it is the state House’s turn to take up annexation reform and AFP activists will be there to encourage them to do so.

The legislation being discussed is a pair of annexation reforms that would stop forced annexations in several areas including: Goldsboro , Kinston , Fayetteville , Wilson , Wilmington , Rocky Mount and Lexington . (House Bill 5-Local De-Annexations).

A second bill would subject ALL forced annexations to a direct vote of the people affected. (House Bill 925-Annexation Reform 2).

After years of abusing taxpayers, the cities that make up the North Carolina League of Municipalities lost this fight in the court of public opinion and the General Assembly in recent months. They should not be able to use taxpayer money to receive a third or fourth bite at the apple.

Catch a bus to Raleigh on Thursday and encourage the state House members to fight for property owners by supporting these bills!

A MESSAGE FROM AMERICANS FOR PROSPERITY

Over three years ago, President Obama ratcheted up government spending and debt with his $831 billion stimulus package, while promising to create jobs and boost economic growth here in America.
But now, we're finding out that billions of those stimulus dollars were actually spent helping "green energy" companies overseas. Learn more about this outrage today. Be among the first to watch our groundbreaking ad exposing the truth.

Even though there are 13 million unemployed Americans, the Obama administration is working to create "green jobs" in foreign countries!
Click here to watch the ad and learn more about what is being done with your tax dollars!

This ad is only the beginning. Americans for Prosperity will be pushing hard on all fronts to ensure that every American knows we must put grassroots pressure on President Obama for his disastrous economic policies.
If you want to send a message to the President, please join with Americans for Prosperity and tell the President to Stop Tanking America.

Click here to sign the Stop Tanking America petition!
We cannot allow reckless government spending to go unchecked, particularly when the money goes overseas. Spread the word. Tell your family, your friends, your neighbors, and anyone who will listen about this Administration's lack of regard for American jobs and the American economy.
Together, let's expose the hypocrisy of the stimulus dollars sent overseas.
Sincerely,
2

Americans for Prosperity: NC Real Solutions is Coming to a Town Near You!

NC Real Solutions is coming to a town near you! Next week our road tour will begin criss-crossing the state to continue educating North Carolina citizens about the real solutions being delivered by the new state budget.

Starting next Tuesday, April 10, NC Real Solutions will be making a road tour throughout the big cities and small towns in North Carolina. Our preliminary tour schedule is available below. I hope you will meet us at one of our stops!

“As a North Carolina native and a mother of three with children in our public schools, I was concerned when, during a shaky economy, Gov. Perdue proposed nearly a billion dollars in new taxes. With sky high gas prices, hard-working families like ours just did not need a tax increase. Instead the new legislature passed a bi-partisan budget that cut waste, lowered taxes, and added state funding for 2,000 more teachers."  ~ Donna King, Raleigh

Traveling with the tour will be Raleigh resident, North Carolina State University graduate and Americans for Prosperity Foundation activist Donna King who is featured in the television spot.

King is one of the many North Carolina residents who is enjoying a lower tax burden thanks to the work of the North Carolina legislature. NC Real Solutions wants to make sure all North Carolinians are educated about the successes of the state budget reforms.

Join us at a tour stop, bring a friend, and let's make sure all North Carolinians understand the real solutions of balancing the budget and lowering taxes!

Sincerely,
Dallas Woodhouse

AFP Hands Off My Healthcare Rally March 27, 2012, DC--4,000 strong for freedom!

It was amazing to be there!  Connie Hanna and I attended, and it was really inspiring, more to come on this!  ~ Lynn
Yesterday, I looked out at the thousands upon thousands of faces and the sea of “Hands Off My Health Care” and “I Am AFP” signs, and I knew our movement was stronger than ever!

Yesterday, your voices, the voices of the American people, were heard over the pundits and politicians from both sides of the aisle. According to one speaker, our voices “rattled the windows of the Supreme Court.” Together, we sent a crystal clear message to the Supreme Court: do the right thing...overturn this disastrous, unconstitutional government takeover of our health care.

From our event, a CNN correspondent reported to Wolf Blitzer, “I want to give you a sense of what the crowd looks like here; it goes on and on and on!”

Click here to see photos of the rally!

Over 4,000 activists joined Americans for Prosperity and our 20+ coalition groups for the incredible Hands Off My Health Care Rally across the street from the U.S. Supreme Court. We heard from great speakers like Sen. Rand Paul, Sen. Jim DeMint, Sen. Ron Johnson, Sen. Pat Toomey, Rep. Michele Bachmann, Rep. Paul Ryan, Rep. Alan West. We heard from breast cancer survivor, Tracy Walsh, who told her personal story of survival due in part to choices and access provided by our health care system. We heard from Canadian, Shona Holmes, who told how she faced waiting lists and denied treatments for her brain tumor in her home country thanks to their socialized health care system but thankfully she drove south to the United States for the treatments that saved her life.

This fight is far from over, but our fellow Americans are with us. Every poll shows they want to see the health care takeover law repealed. But we've got to keep taking our message of freedom to the American people.

If you have not done so already, make your voice heard by signing AFP's Statement to the Court. We displayed the many thousands of signatures we've collected so far at the Rally, and we're continuing to gather more! Be sure to forward this message to your friends and family, and ask them to sign AFP's Statement to the Court.

We can't let up now. We have to keep pushing hard, and make sure that the President's health care takeover is struck down in its entirety. Until that day comes, Americans for Prosperity will keep fighting with help from activists like you.

Sincerely,
Tim Phillips
President, Americans for Prosperity

AMERICANS FOR PROSPERITY: NC REAL SOLUTIONS

The Americans for Prosperity Foundation and the John William Pope Civitas Institute are excited to launch a multimedia educational effort entitled NC Real Solutions.

The effort explains the success of North Carolina’s recently passed state budget that offered North Carolina real solutions by eliminating the $3 billion deficit, balancing the budget, adding state-funded teachers and lowering taxes.

The effort includes a 30 second television commercial that touts the NC Real Solutions website: www.ncrealsolutions.com.

NC Real Solutions is an effort to move beyond the overblown rhetoric and educate the public about the state budget. The reality is the budget passed by the new General Assembly closed the $3 billion budget deficit and balanced the budget. Additional resources for education enabled local schools to add 2,000 state-funded teaching positions. The budget, passed by both the state House and Senate, did all this while providing lower taxes to all North Carolina families and businesses. The Left has attempted to win the debate over the future direction of the state by yelling the loudest and the longest,” said AFP Foundation- North Carolina State Director Dallas Woodhouse. “The NC Real Solutions project cuts through the noise to present the facts to the people of North Carolina who deserve to know the truth.”

“Since day one the Civitas Institute has been committed to providing the facts to North Carolina taxpayers,” said Civitas President Francis Deluca. “The facts are that every week there are more examples of how the state budget enacted by the new General Assembly is offering North Carolina real solutions. Putting two billion dollars back in the hands of hardworking taxpayers and the real economy by cutting sales and income taxes, while at the same time balancing the budget by spending tax dollars more efficiently are prime examples. NC Real Solutions will make sure those facts get delivered over the air and online.”

Last year and again recently Governor Perdue pushed for a billion dollar increase in the state sales tax. Instead the General Assembly passed a bi-partisan budget that:

•Added more than 4,600 state-funded education positions, including 2,000 state-funded teacher positions.
•Closed a $3.1 billion budget gap – without raising taxes.
•Cancelled close to a quarter billion in previously approved but not yet issued state debt.
•Returned more than $2 billion in taxes to North Carolina families.
•Included nearly half a billion dollars in tax relief for small businesses.

Featured in the television ad is Americans for Prosperity Foundation member Donna King, a graduate of North Carolina State University. She is a mother of three.

NC Real Solutions is a project of Americans for Prosperity Foundation with assistance from the John William Pope Civitas Institute.

Hands Off My Health Care Rally - March 27th in Washington, D.C.

AMERICANS FOR PROSPERITY--Hands Off My Health Care Rally

Two years ago, President Obama forced an unpopular health care takeover onto the American people. Since then, Americans for Prosperity has educated citizens about the dangers of the President's plan. In 2009, the Hands Off My Health Care Tour visited over 300 cities holding events and rallies, and AFP's Code Red Rally hosted more than 5,000 citizen activists. AFP is now helping states stop health care exchanges, which would saddle state governments with the burden of implementing ObamaCare.

Later this month, the U.S. Supreme Court will hear arguments about the constitutionality of some aspects of the President's health care bill. That's why Americans for Prosperity will be holding a Hands Off My Health Care Rally on March 27th across the street from the Supreme Court. This rally will be the most important event yet to protect health care freedom. Speakers will include Sen. Pat Toomey, Sen. Jim Demint, Rep. Michele Bachmann, Americans for Prosperity's Tim Phillips, 60 Plus Association's Jim Martin, Concerned Women for America's Penny Nance, Tea Party Express's Amy Kremer, breast cancer survivor Tracy Walsh, and many more!

Join us, and let's remind the Court and all of Washington that the President's health care takeover is an affront to our Constitution and our liberties!

TAKE ACTION

Tell the Senate not to pick winners and losers in the energy markets!

The Senate is currently considering amendments to a transportation bill that would further inject flawed government planning into America's energy markets. When government tries to pick favored energy sources and prop them up, we're all left to suffer. The amendments under consideration are the epitome of government picking winners and losers, and neither of them should be passed. Click here to take action now!

Sign AFP's Statement to the Supreme Court!
As the U.S. Supreme Court prepares to hear arguments regarding the constitutionality of certain elements of the President's health care package, Americans for Prosperity is asking everyone who supports health care freedom to sign AFP's Statement to the Supreme Court. AFP believes that the individual mandate is unconstitutional, and that the President's entire health care law should be struck down. AFP will make the statement available to the Supreme Court on March 27th, the same day as our Hands Off My Health Care Rally in Washington.
