Kagan lamented decline of socialism

FROM WORLD NET DAILY:  Kagan lamented decline of socialism

Obama's Supreme Court nominee's wrote

of 'sad' development for those who 'still wish to change' U.S.

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

By Aaron Klein

NEW YORK – In her undergraduate thesis at Princeton, President Obama's nominee for the Supreme Court, Elena Kagan, lamented the decline of socialism in the country as "sad" for those who still hope to "change America." Titled "To the Final Conflict: Socialism in New York City, 1900-1933," Kagan opined that infighting caused the decline of the early socialist movement. She asked why the "greatness" of socialism was not reemerging as a major political force.

"In our own times, a coherent socialist movement is nowhere to be found in the United States. Americans are more likely to speak of a golden past than of a golden future, of capitalism's glories than of socialism's greatness," wrote Kagan, Obama's solicitor general.

"Why, in a society by no means perfect, has a radical party never attained the status of a major political force? Why, in particular, did the socialist movement never become an alternative to the nation's established parties?" she asked.

In the senior thesis, Kagan, who graduated from Princeton in 1981, addressed infighting in the socialist movement.

"Through its own internal feuding, then, the SP [Socialist Party] exhausted itself forever and further reduced labor radicalism in New York to the position of marginality and insignificance from which it has never recovered.

"The story is a sad but also a chastening one for those who, more than half a century after socialism's decline, still wish to change America," she wrote. "Radicals have often succumbed to the devastating bane of sectarianism; it is easier, after all, to fight one's fellows than it is to battle an entrenched and powerful foe. Yet if the history of Local New York shows anything, it is that American radicals cannot afford to become their own worst enemies. In unity lies their only hope."

Her thesis was dedicated to her brother "whose involvement in radical causes led me to explore the history of American radicalism in the hope of clarifying my own political ideas."

If confirmed, Kagan would give the high court three women justices for the first time.

She would be the youngest member on the current court and the first justice in nearly four decades without any prior judicial experience.

WND reported Kagan has advocated for an increased presidential role in regulation, which, she conceded, would make such affairs more and more an extension of the president's own policy and political agenda.

Kagan was nominated as U.S. solicitor general by Obama in January and confirmed by the Senate in March. She was a dean of Harvard Law School and previously served alongside Obama as a professor of law at the University of Chicago.

A former clerk to Abner Mikva at the D.C. federal appeals court, Kagan was heavily involved in promoting the health-care policy of the Clinton administration.

Obama praised her because while he said a "judge's job is to interpret the law, not make the law," she has evidenced a "keen understanding of the impact of the law on people's lives."

The president said she has a "firm grasp on the nexus and boundaries between our three branches of government."

But more importantly, she understands, "behind the law there are stories, stories of people's lives," Obama said.

Kagan said the law is "endlessly interesting" and also "protects the most fundamental rights and freedoms."

The links and associations that have contributed to the stunning rise in politics by Obama – who went from an unknown state lawmaker to president in a matter of a few years – are stunning readers who have pushed "The Manchurian President: Barack Obama's Ties to Communists, Socialists and Other Anti-American Extremists," by Klein and Brenda Elliott.

Aaron Klein discusses "The Manchurian President" on Fox's "Hannity" Show. May 4, 2010

Fox News' Sean Hannity cited its explanations of Obama's links to radicals including Bill Ayers, an unrepentant 1960s radical whose organization, Weather Underground, faced accusations it bombed the Pentagon, in a recent show.

Author Klein confirmed that the hundreds of sources assembled for the book reveal Obama is, in fact, closely "tied to an anti-American fringe nexus."

Those links include David Axelrod, Valerie Jarrett, Ayers and now Kagan.

"The Manchurian President," exhaustively researched, exposes just how dangerous Obama really is as America's president.

The book discusses:

•That the fringe whose members put Obama on the course to the presidency continue advising, even drafting White House policy.

•Obama's extensive connections to ACORN and its union affiliate, including much new information not previously documented elsewhere.

•Extremists in the White House, including top czars and communist-linked Jarrett and Axelrod.

•Obama's health-care policy – that was pushed and crafted by extremists.

•Obama's deep association with the Nation of Islam.

•Obama's ties to terrorist Bill Ayers much more extensive than ever previously disclosed.

Klein is an American journalist, author and radio host. He serves as senior investigative reporter and Jerusalem bureau chief for online news giant WorldNetDaily.com and is a columnist for the Jewish Press.

Elliott is a historian and author known for her dogged blogging during the 2008 presidential election about Tony Rezko, William Ayers and other criminals in Obama's clique of cronies.

Blog by a North Carolina Conservative Teacher

May 11th, 2010

I am a seasoned teacher in a public school system in North Carolina. Unlike most of my peers, I am also a Christian, a Conservative, pro-Capitalist and a Republican. While I respect his position, President Obama is the most radical president this country has ever seen. He is destroying America right before our eyes. Like many of us, I am frustrated that there is so little we can do about it except vote, which feels grossly inadequate in the scope of things and how quickly he is moving. He and his “team” are ALL following Saul Alinsky’s “Rules for Radicals” to the letter. They aren’t even creative about it!

Our school systems need to be over-hauled. I see many hard-working educators all around me—but there are the few who are lazy and/or don’t care about the students, and there is very little that can be done to get rid of them. Unfortunately, all we hear about on the news are the bad ones. Not the ones (I dare say like me) who lose sleep over their students. Many of us purchase paper, pencils, supplies–even clothes and food–for them when they don’t have any. Yet, many of us barely make enough money to pay our own bills.

Education has changed tremendously over the past several years. Teachers used to be respected members of society. I feel now like we are the black sheep of the family. Parents are often quick to blame us for their children’s problems. I know 99% of you are wonderful caring parents; I am not talking about you! But it was just a few years ago that we worried about whether or not children knew their multiplication tables, or if girls should be allowed to call boys. Now in middle school–the level at which I teach–we are worried about provocative clothing on young girls, pregnancy (even in 7th grade or below), “sexting,” bullying (much of it now cyber), drugs (not just street drugs, but what your kids get out of your medicine cabinet), choking games, and “cutting” (and I don’t mean from class) just to name a few things we deal with on a daily basis. In addition to thsi, we are expected to teach students who don’t speak English, or the ever-increasing pressure to get kids to pass unrealistic end-of-year tests which they “re-norm” almost every year making them more and more difficult to pass.

Please just know that not ALL teachers are liberal mindless “sheeple” who have been indoctrinated by the left-leaning Politically Correct ideaology that they get off of the “lame-stream media.” I don’t even socialize with any of the teachers I work with because we are on opposite ends of the political spectrum. They spout their liberal ideas all day long, drooling with their eyes glazed over with joy that Obama is president and they will be getting “free” healthcare—yet I cannot say one word for fear it could cost me my job because I am a Conservative. I wish I could say I was lying, but I am not.

And our colleges? They are filled with such ultra-left-wing liberal professors that unless you have grounded your children in strong Judeo-Christian and/or Conservative values, your children will come out of college so brainwashed in liberal and socialist anti-military ideologies that you won’t even recoginize them.

Stand up for your rights when liberal teachers try to indoctrinate your children! You as parents have all the rights—me, as a teacher—I have none, so I have to remain silent or lose my job. All I can do is refuse to participate in their idiocy, which I do. Just remember there are a few of us out there who think like you! God bless America!
