TAXPAYERS FOR COMMON SENSE:

Taxes a la mode

Apr 29, 2011

Adding insult to injury, taxpayers recently found out that BP was able to save $13 billion on their taxes by writing off their losses associated with last summer’s Gulf of Mexico oil spill.

Talk about a silver – golden – lining.

So not only were we left with an environmental disaster in the gulf, diminished economies in the neighboring states, and the use of federal resources, but the federal budget sank deeper into the red because BP could write off its losses.

This isn’t to say that BP wanted the spill to happen. Who can forget their then-CEO Tony Hayward famously telling us “There’s no one who wants this over more than I do. I would like my life back.” But it’s hard to believe this was what tax writers had in mind when they decided to allow companies to deduct losses from their tax payments.

So it goes with the tax code. As it increases in complexity with more loopholes, carve outs, and sweeteners added to encourage this or that activity, the law of unintended consequences – and cost – continues to grow.

This isn’t just dodges and abusive tax shelters. The tax code is riddled with provisions picking winners and losers. Provisions that favor one industry or investment over another without any oversight or accounting of the costs, or even whether these preferential tax policies are achieving what politicians claimed they would.

For example, the home mortgage interest deduction has increased the cost of homes and contributed to the housing bubble while countries without similar tax policies -- Canada, England -- have roughly the same or higher rates of home ownership. Or, the deduction for employer provided health care plans which has subsidized so-called Cadillac health care plans, helped render invisible to the insured the true cost of health insurance, and hindered shifts in the workforce because people are tied to their jobs because of health insurance.

Since the last fundamental reform in 1986, tax entropy has occurred, making the code more complex and less ordered. Like a forest never allowed to burn, the underbrush and debris piles up, choking out life and making it impossible to navigate. What we need is a controlled burn in the tax code.

We can start right now with the long list of energy tax breaks. This week the oil and gas companies are releasing their first quarter results and unlike those of us feeling pain at the pump, these corporations are pumping up their bottom lines. ExxonMobil announced that it made more than $10.7 billion in profits, roughly $5 million an hour for the last three months. The industries’ tax breaks are deeply imbedded in the code – some are nearly 100 years old. But they are all over the place – a deduction for exploration, another for depletion of their assets, another for royalties they pay to foreign governments. The list goes on, and some in Congress are trying to add to that list. Talk about wrong-headed.

We should rip all of the energy tax breaks out by their roots. Uncle Sam and well-heeled lobbyists shouldn’t be picking winners and losers in the code whether they be wind and solar or oil and gas. And let’s be clear – the big winner, not surprisingly, is oil and gas, which spent more than $30 million in campaign contributions during the last election and $150 million on lobbying in 2010. A pretty sound investment for their billions in tax breaks.

Last year’s fiscal commission called for tackling tax expenditures, the President went after them in his budget, so did House Budget Chairman Ryan in his budget, and just the other day he said “subsidies for all energy companies need to be reduced or eliminated so that we can get government out of the business of picking winners and losers in the market.” Here, here. Time for Congress to quit yappin’ and get cuttin’.

Sun Journal Letter to the Editor by CCTA Vice Chairman, Nancy Murdoch

April 28, 2011
On March 16, 2006, then-Sen. Barack Obama said, “The fact that we are here today to debate raising America’s debt limit is a sign of leadership failure. It is a sign that the U.S. government can’t pay its own bills. It is a sign that we now depend on ongoing financial assistance from foreign countries to finance our governments’ reckless fiscal policies.”

It would appear that he is singing a different song these days.

Perhaps someone is celebrating a victory, but there’s no victory for the American people, especially for future generations. I figure it would be equivalent to a family earning $40,000 a year to make the decision to cut $400 from their annual budget in order to make ends meet. But it’s a moot point, as in the eight days that the budget was debated, $50 billion was borrowed — the cut was less than that.

The problem is not an income issue — it’s a spending issue. The poor and the wealthy are on the entitlement program. Tax cuts are given for raising vicuna and buying golf carts. Put in some solar panels and you get a tax break. Buy a hybrid vehicle and get a tax cut. The government subsidizes ethanol so we burn our food. The list seems never ending. Money is given to every special interest group able to gain access to an elected official. So much for having a government of and by the people; that’s a pipe dream now. And the sad part is that a number of our citizens refuse to see what is happening because so far their ox hasn’t been gored.

The problem didn’t originate in Washington, D.C. Our states, counties and cities are playing the same game. The usual excuse is “if we don’t get it (the federal money), then someone else will.” Do they think the money grows on the cherry trees in D.C.? For example, we have the Craven County “lottery.” Through some kind of unknown criteria, certain citizens get repairs made to their houses, and at times, even have said homes replaced — all on the taxpayers dime. The largesse of our elected officials is overwhelming. And I’m sure that this generosity with other people’s money is happening in every county in the United States.

There are no easy solutions, but if our country is to survive we better find one. Unfortunately, no political party has a monopoly on hypocrisy. Promises made while campaigning are soon forgotten, and reelection begins as soon as one enters office. We must diligently make our voices heard, and remember the words of Thomas Jefferson: “Eternal vigilance is the price of liberty.”

An important call to action!

From and Eastern North Carolina Patriot--

This alert is going to be a judgment call on your part. You can choose to act or leave it alone, that is for you to decide. I do think the time has come for us to tell our representatives what we want and expect them to do and not just leave these direly important issues for them to get around to of their on volition.

It appears to me that our elected representatives have once again failed us on the continuing resolution they passed for the 2011 budget. The republicans don’t seem to have the backbone to stand-up to the democrats and fight it out for us. We hear the same old song and dance about being afraid to shut down the government because they will be blamed. That they are trying to stay above the fray and reach across the aisle to show they are nice guys and trying to work with the democrats and be liked. The democrats showed no similar tendencies when they were in control and rammed as much of their liberal, socialist, progressive agenda down our throats as they could. They locked the republicans out of meetings, made numerous backroom deals and did not allow them (and by extension us) to actively participate in the legislative process to accomplish their goals. They told you they won and get over it; in fact you can come along just sit in the back of the bus!

News flash for republicans; the democrats don’t like you and never will.  They will only use you for their own ends. They are playing you for fools and you represent us (we the people) and we are not fools. They passed laws they did not even read! Do you forget how weak you looked…..we don’t.

It is widely acknowledged that in the past November elections that the Tea Party was a major influence in the outcome that put the republicans back in power. We the people voted you in and we will just as easily vote you out and replace you with representatives who really believe in upholding our constitution. You need to understand that the Tea Party is not about republicans. You do not have a lock on our votes. You can not marginalize or co-op our vote. If republicans and democrats want to continue the reckless and irresponsible spend and taxing spree we will replace you…..end of story. Under our constitution you work for us and you need to represent us or we will find good honest people who will.

Your voting records are being watched and recorded for reference in the next election. In the past we the people have voted their representatives in and then left you to do the job of representing us…..not any more! Washington insiders (elected officials and bureaucrats) have awoken the proverbial sleeping giant. You blew it and we are taking our beloved republic back. Try to minimize us or dismiss us at your own peril. We don’t want appeasement or watered down legislation for the sake of reaching across the isle.

Let me make this abundantly clear…..THE TIME TO FIGHT IS NOW!!!.....YOU ALREADY HAVE THE POWER!!! In our Constitution (written by much smarter men than anyone in DC today) Article 1 Section 7 states “All bills for raising Revenue shall originate in the House of Representatives; but the Senate may propose or concur with Amendments as on other Bills.”

This means that you can stop everything the President and Senate are trying to do because you hold the purse strings NOW. We want action NOW, not in 10 years time with the potential 2 new presidents and 5 turnovers in the make up of the House of Representatives will present and change if they want to. A perfect case in point is the border fence along our countries southern border. This legislation was voted on and signed into law. The money was appropriated for it yet it was defunded and stopped by a subsequent house make-up vote while illegal's and terrorists flood over our border. This is something the American people wanted yet the elitists in DC basically told us to shut up and leave it to them to decide because we are too stupid to understand and they know better than we do what needs to be done.

We do not want the debt ceiling raised! Learn to live within your means and stop spending money you don’t have. We have to do this as responsible citizens and so do you as stewards of our tax dollars. We do not want any new taxes, we are taxed enough already! All of your tax hikes have still resulted in our country being piled under a mountain of debt that will be left to our children and grandchildren to pay for. Talk about taxation without representation! We want a balanced budget in 2012 not in 10 years. Stop all foreign aid now!

We are borrowing money to give to other countries, most of whom don’t like us (except our money) anyway. I ask you how stupid is that?

Actually I’ll tell you just to make sure you get the right answer…..very stupid.

America was and is based on Jewish-Christian principles regardless of what our supposed scholarly constitutional law president says (you know the one who was tired because he had been to 57 states
campaigning). America has been the most generous country the world has ever know in terms of monetary aid, spilt blood and sacrificed lives for the cause of freedom around the world. We have nothing to

apologize for, but in fact should be commended for our actions. But we don’t even ask for that because it has been something that we freely give to the world from our hearts, for the hope that all people can live free without tyranny.

We need to get our own financial house in order first since we now find ourselves in such disarray and then we can help others once again. Let the oil rich Arabs or the Chinese pay the way for the world for awhile as we restore our own financial stability. Of course if we (the American people) want to donate out of our own financial resources to help that is fine. Just don’t use our tax money abroad when we need it here now.

We do not expect you to be weak-kneed with getting our country back on track. Defund all the presidents’ czars and special interest programs he has created NOW. You have the power of the constitution behind you NOW. Let the president and the senate cause the government to shut down. We the people are not stupid and know it will be their fault regardless of how they or the lame stream media will try and spin it. The fact will still remain that it will be their fault.

Defend yourselves and by extension we the people by pointing out that it is their fault at press conferences and town hall meetings. Keep hammering these points home to the American people every chance you get. As Winston Churchill said; “Never give up, never, never, never give up.”

Do not touch social security at all!!! Why is it that big corporations, banks, insurance companies, mortgage companies and unions can get bailed out with trillions of our tax dollars (which we had to borrow) through stimulus bills, TARP programs etc, yet the first thing you bring up when you say we have to sacrifice and tighten our belts is social security? You used our tax dollars to bail them out, but you can not bail out (in reality pay back) the social security system you have plundered since its inception that was for the American people’s sake?

The fact is that both parties have been raiding the money in the social security program since its inception and replaced it with worthless IOU’s for various “feel good” social programs that the Constitution does not give them the authority to do and the founding fathers never intended. This money was supposed to have been invested where it would compound and earn interest so as to be there when we retired. Both parties have been stealing our money over the years which we had to pay out of each paycheck. Now the day of reckoning is upon us and you can not pay back the IOU’s, and you think we have to bear the burden for you stealing and ineptitude? Do you really wonder why the polls show such a low public approval rating for your job performance? If the money was just a free handout from the government I could see it, but it is not, it is our money you were supposed to invest for us but instead you have been misappropriating it for years.

I will be eagerly waiting for your answers and explanations for the above questions. And please don’t send me some form response thanking me for my input. I want your responses to the above points. Last Novembers elections will be nothing compared to the house cleaning that will take place in 2012.

ACTION:  Send this letter to you elected representatives (house and senate).  Feel free to copy and paste, add or delete parts or write your own letter, whatever is easier for you.  Congress is still on Easter Break so this needs to be sent on April 29th and might I suggest everyday there after until they vote on the debt ceiling issue and the budget for 2012. We have to flood them so that they are inconvenienced and know that we are serious.

NC State Retirement Crisis

NC RENEGADE

The article below details the growing disparity between promised state retirement promises and their actual funding. North Carolina shares in this fiscal crisis and there are only three ways to proceed:

1.Cut benefits and retirement for state workers.
2.Raise taxes to cover the shortfall.
3.A combination of both.

Obama's Birth Certificate has NOT been Released

There is an uproar in the media over the the certificate the Whitehouse recently issued as Barack Obama's Long Form Birth Certificate. This document is not, in fact, a birth certificate at all -- it is a certificate of live birth, something very different. Please be reminded that this is nothing new, this 'certification discrepancy' has been a persistent problem since the beginning. This is all to say that, we still need to ask the same questions we have been -- where's the birth certificate.

Santorum Accuses Obama of Siding With Iran

Rick Santorum says America might be facing its most important election since the days of Abraham Lincoln and the Civil War. That is how severe Santorum views the damage Barack Obama has done to the country. The former Pennsylvania Senator participated in the Iowa GOP’s “Chairman’s Speaker Series” event Tuesday evening. Talking to a crowd of 100 likely caucus goers in Cedar Rapids, Santorum spent the better part of an hour condemning Obama’s policies.

How long will we allow them to keep us dependent on foreign oil??????

EPA Rules Force Shell to Abandon Oil Drilling Plans

Shell Oil Company has announced it must scrap efforts to drill for oil this summer in the Arctic Ocean off the northern coast of Alaska. The decision comes following a ruling by the EPA’s Environmental Appeals Board to withhold critical air permits. The move has angered some in Congress and triggered a flurry of legislation aimed at stripping the EPA of its oil drilling oversight.

Shell has spent five years and nearly $4 billion dollars on plans to explore for oil in the Beaufort and Chukchi Seas. The leases alone cost $2.2 billion. Shell Vice President Pete Slaiby says obtaining similar air permits for a drilling operation in the Gulf of Mexico would take about 45 days. He’s especially frustrated over the appeal board’s suggestion that the Arctic drill would somehow be hazardous for the people who live in the area. “We think the issues were really not major,” Slaiby said, “and clearly not impactful for the communities we work in.”

The closest village to where Shell proposed to drill is Kaktovik, Alaska. It is one of the most remote places in the United States. According to the latest census, the population is 245 and nearly all of the residents are Alaska natives. The village, which is 1 square mile, sits right along the shores of the Beaufort Sea, 70 miles away from the proposed off-shore drill site.

The EPA’s appeals board ruled that Shell had not taken into consideration emissions from an ice-breaking vessel when calculating overall greenhouse gas emissions from the project. Environmental groups were thrilled by the ruling.

Obama’s BC proves without doubt..He’s not a natural born citizen to Constitutionally be Presdient!!

RANDY'S RIGHT!   http://randysright.wordpress.com/2011/04/27/obamas-bc-proves-without-doubt-hes-not-a-natural-born-citizen-to-constitutionally-be-presdient/

Federalist papers state very clearly both parents must be born on US soil to have a child be President. Our forefathers were smart enough to know that it could lead to foreign allegiances as a President if both parents were not born on US soil. As the birth certificate clearly states his father was not born on US soil.

This is why Obama was hiding his birth certificate for so long, he knew as well as Nancy Pelosi that singed off that Obama was legally cleared to run for office of President. Look for your self at link below:

God Help Us: The Status of Religious Rights in the Public School System

by Diane Rufino, April 13, 2010

Young adults often wonder what their rights are in the public school system with respect to religion. On the one hand there is the First Amendment right to religion itself (free exercise and the freedom from being forced to belong to a religion established by Congress), and then are a plurality of Supreme Court decisions which have interpreted the First Amendment, there are the views of religious groups and atheist groups, and then finally there are anti-religion “watch” groups which are ever vigilante to make sure that religion (in any form) is not brought up in schools or in any other public/government-sponsored activity. And then caught in the middle of all this are the children themselves who have Constitutional first amendment rights but don’t know what they are and what they are entitled to. They rely on the school to look after their rights and they are often advised, or pressured, by parents who have strong religious views. But as our schools become diversified and as our society places a greater emphasis on diversity and a progressive new social order, there appears to be a concerted effort to maintain neutrality in classrooms on a number of areas, most notably religion. Schools cannot be seen as promoting one religion over another or showing preference to one religion over another. Students cannot be made to feel that their particular religion is inferior or is not respected. Neutrality seems to be the key.

Glenn Beck Is Not Going Down Quietly…The Greatest Theft in History!!

RANDY'S RIGHT:  I have watched Glenn Beck since he started his show on FoxNews in early 2009. I admire his challenge to us to check his stories and he is one of an elite group of people who actually admit and apologize for his mistakes. Although he reported on issues and individuals who were causing the collapse of our country, he never went after the Federal Reserve. Until now.

It appears that Mr. Beck is going down swinging and exposing the major culprit of our nation’s demise. Ben Bernanke and the Federal Reserve’s role in devaluing our dollar is exactly what Mr. Beck details in the following videos:

Video from Tea Party Town Hall meeting with Rep. Bill Cook

Rep. Bill Cook, R-Beaufort/Pitt, held a Town Hall session sponsored by the Beaufort Patriot Tea Party on April 21. We have the video of most of that meeting below. The first video is the welcome and introduction:

The next video begins a review by Rep Cook of the bills he has sponsored or co-sponsored this session:

In the third video Rep Cook identifies some of the major issues facing the General Assembly during the remainder of the session and invites those in attendance to offer their ideas, suggestions and recommendations on those, or any other issue:

The participation by the audience begins in video four. Most, but not all of the speakers were captured but unfortunately some were omitted when speakers' comments ran beyond the video segments time constraints. Although speakers were asked to do so, not all identified themselves, as you will see.

The fifth video is simply a continuation of the Q & A:

The final video continues the Q & A and the wrap-up:

Rep. Bill Cook represents the Sixth District in the N. C. House of Representatives. That district includes Beaufort and parts of eastern Pitt County. He can be contacted at: Bill.Cook@ncleg.net or 919-733-5906 and he welcomes visitors to his office in Room 1303 of the Legislative Building. His mailing address is 16 W. Tea Party David Vs. Two-Headed Goliath

Tea Party David Vs. Two-Headed Goliath

Essay: Robbing from the rich to give to the poor...

"There's two sides to every coin". How often have you heard that?: Let's look at a fistful of coins I've got in mind right now:

Rich/Poor

Haves/Have-nots

Producers/Consumers

Givers/Takers

Which one in each of these pairings would you like to belong to? Would you really truly prefer to be a poor, have-not, who only can only consume that which you take from others? Or is it truly noble to be a producer, to have wealth - wealth being the benefit and reward for that which you have produced - so that you can freely give to those truly in need?IF you have honestly answered that you're happy being poor, having nothing of your own, consuming only that which other people give to you, then I pity you.But - if you have answered, "Who wouldn't want to be rich, able to reap the rewards of producing something everyone else wants, and be able to give freely to others?"... well, then, I've got to ask: are you one of the progressive liberals clamoring to tax the rich more so you can give to the poor? Or are you someone who understands that in order to achieve that wealth, then you will have to focus like a laser-beam upon reaching that goal?I can't understand the mind-set of someone who wants to demonize CEOs but also idolizes movie and music stars. I get thoroughly confuzzled by the people who say "you're too rich, GIVE ME MORE!" And I get embarrassed by rich people who try to tell middle-class people to sacrifice. (Remember Barbra Streisand's hypocrisy in 2003? http://www.counterpunch.org/clarke05312003.html)

What has happened to the nobility of rewarding success? Has it disappeared simply because every kid who plays on the little league team gets a trophy - even though the team finished in last place? Has it disappeared because the value of an A has dropped in reality to what a C was 25 years ago? Has the value of success deflated like it has because even folks on welfare get big screen TVs and iPads and droid phones? Or - has the decreasing value of success been the result of people getting Nobel Peace Prizes because of the promise of success without ever having to deliver that success?I dunno. But I must admit, I'm still waiting for my Grammy.

Obama's Czars Decimate Constitution

In 2007, Barack Obama RAILED against then-president Bush on his use of signing statements as an "end-run" around Congress.
Surprise, surprise, Obama is doing the SAME thing.

By now Obama has become well-known for completely reversing his positions. While campaigning, he said that Bush's use of signing statement was an effort "to accumulate more power in the presidency."

Oh, really?

Because now Obama has issued a signing statement declaring that he'll just ignore the provision in the recent 2011 budget about defunding 4 czar positions. He already has a record number of 39 czars that have broad-reaching powers, and do not need to be confirmed by the Senate. Having these czars allows Obama to control aspects of government through regulations, giving Congress NO CONTROL OVER THEM.

In just two years, Obama has appointed 39 czars to regulate a whole host of agendas. Some of his more ridiculous czars include:
◦AIDS Czar
◦California Water Czar
◦Climate Czar
◦Domestic Violence Czar
◦Faith-based Czar
◦Great Lakes Czar
◦Guantanamo Closure Czar

In each case, there is a federal agency already dedicated to the issue. THERE IS NO NEED FOR THESE CZARS. They are a waste of taxpayer dollars. Obama just wants to ensure that his liberal agenda is implemented---NO MATTER WHAT.

Obama is forcing his socialist agenda on the United States by going around Congress. Please CLICK HERE to tell Congress that you do NOT approve of Obama's signing statements OR his czars. He already has 39 czars which answer to no one and control aspects of government already covered by other agencies which DO answer to Congress. This is just another way for Obama to continue his radical, liberal agenda even after the American people told him to stop on November 2nd. We need to send this man the message that we are FED UP with Obama's totalitarian rule!

BARACK OBAMA IS NOT ABOVE THE LAW---Send your Faxes now, and tell Congress to rein in Obama's power!

OBAMA LIES AGAIN!!!

"I taught the Constitution for 10 years. (LIE!) I believe in the Constitution (ANOTHER LIE), and I will obey the Constitution of the United States (A BIGGER LIE). We're not going to use signing statements as a way of doing an end-run around Congress."  (AND EVEN BIGGER LIE!)

"While it is legitimate for a president to issue a signing statement to clarify his understanding of ambiguous provisions of statutes and to explain his view of how he intends to faithfully execute the law, it is a clear abuse of power to use such statements as a license to evade laws that the President does not like or as an end-run around provisions designed to foster accountability," -- Barack Obama.

The hypocrisy of this man never fails to amaze. While campaigning he would say anything and everything to make Bush seem like a villain, yet as soon as he got into office he pulled a complete 180.

The 2011 budget which was finally passed at the eleventh hour included a provision to defund the czars, which direct the administration's policies for health care, climate change, the auto industry and urban affairs. These positions were already vacant; the provision simply stated that funds set aside to fill those roles would not be used.

Obama touted the budget as a compromise of both parties. Apparently what he meant was that it was a compromise that he would not adhere to. He lamented against George W. Bush using signing statements to bend the laws passed by Congress, yet he is doing the same thing.

We need to send Congress the message that we are FED UP with Obama's totalitarian rule!

BARACK OBAMA IS NOT ABOVE THE LAW---Send your Faxes now, and tell Congress to rein in Obama's power!

An October article in the L.A. Times states that, "as President Obama remakes his senior staff, he is also shaping a new approach for the second half of his term: to advance his agenda through executive actions he can take on his own, rather than pushing plans through an increasingly hostile Congress."

Oppose Patriot Act Extension, Round 5

Currently there are nine different bills introduced in Congress, three in the House and six in the Senate, that would extend the provisions of the Patriot Act for one to three years. Four of the Senate bills are already out of committee and scheduled for a vote on the General Calendar. One that sees much press but has no co-sponsors is Sen. Patrick Leahy’s (D-Vt.) S. 193: USA PATRIOT Act Sunset Extension Act of 2011, and is a likely vehicle for furthering the dictates of the original Patriot Act.

All of the proposed measures would extend the most objectionable parts of the Patriot Act; the “lone wolf” provision that permits indiscriminate government surveillance of individuals for no reason; the “library records” provision; and the “John Doe roving wiretap” provision that ignores the Fourth Amendment’s guarantee of probable cause and proper court order.

Already made permanent in the original Patriot Act or in the 2006 “ improvement” legislation are expanded wiretapping for computers and all wireless communications, the notorious National Security Letters, a stealthy “sneak-and-peek” provision, and the dreaded “business records” search that allows the government to wiretap businesses at will and to take “any tangible thing” from a business which is related to an investigation.

The FBI and its director Robert Mueller are in favor of extending the provisions, which is no surprise, as the FBI has benefited greatly from the Act that gave them carte blanche to ignore “probable cause,” and to conduct searches based on its own search warrants -- without judges -- as long as they call them "National Security Letters (NSLs). In a late March committee hearing Mueller stated he was unaware of any FBI abuses of the three most contentious provisions of the Act. But the Electronic Frontier Foundation begs to differ, finding numerous and documented abuses by the FBI under Freedom of Information Act requests. Furthermore, the Inspector General’s report of a Justice Department review of FBI activity revealed a circumvention of “the requirements of the Electronic Communications Privacy” law.

“The right of the people to be secure in their persons, houses, papers, and effects, against unreasonable searches and seizures, shall not be violated, and no Warrants shall issue, but upon probable cause, supported by Oath or affirmation, and particularly describing the place to be searched, and the persons or things to be seized,” is the wording of the four-fold protections guaranteed under the Fourth Amendment.

Because so many of the popular Tea Party candidates that were elected last fall failed to understand the principles of the Fourth Amendment, they voted to extend certain provisions in the Patriot Act in early 2011 for the fourth time. Help educate your elected officials on the principles and protections of the Fourth Amendment and demand that they honor their oath to support and defend the Constitution by repealing the permanent provisions of the Patriot Act, and not extending those set to expire.

In the words of former judge Andrew Napolitano, help stop “the most abominable, unconstitutional assaults on personal liberty since the Alien and Sedition Acts of 1798,” by working to educate your elected representatives on the dangers of the Patriot Act.

WHERE TO BUY AMERICAN GASOLINE

WHERE TO BUY AMERICAN GASOLINE. THIS IS VERY IMPORTANT TO KNOW.
Gas rationing in the 70's worked even though we grumbled about it. It might even have been good for us!

Are you aware that the Saudis are boycotting American products? In addition, they are gouging us on oil prices.

Shouldn't we return the favor?

Can't we take control of our own destiny and let these giant oil importers know who REALLY generates their profits, their livings? How about leaving American Dollars in America and reduce the import/export deficit?

An appealing remedy might be to boycott their GAS. Every time you fill up your car you can avoid putting more money into the coffers of Saudi Arabia . Just purchase gas from companies that don't import their oil from the Saudis.

Nothing is more frustrating than the feeling that every time I fill up my tank, I'm sending my money to people who I get the impression want me, my family and my friends dead.

The following gas companies import Middle Eastern oil:

Shell...................................... 205,742,000 barrels
Chevron/Texaco..................... 144,332,000 barrels
Exxon /Mobil........................ 130,082,000 barrels
Marathon/Speedway............. 117,740,000 barrels
Amoco.................................. 62,231,000 barrels
And CITGO oil is imported from Venezuela who’s Dictator Hugo Chavez hates America and openly avows our economic destruction! (We pay Chavez's regime nearly $10 Billion per year in oil revenues!)

The U.S. Currently imports 5,517,000 barrels of crude oil per day from OPEC. If you do the math at $100 per barrel, that's over $550 million PER DAY ($200 BILLION per year!) handed over to OPEC, many of whose members are our confirmed enemies!!!!! It won't stop here - oil prices could go to $200 a barrel or higher if we keep buying their product.

Here are some large companies that do not import Middle Eastern oil:

Sunoco..........................0 barrels
Conoco...........................0 barrels
Sinclair.........................0 barrels
BP/Phillips....................0 barrels
Hess..............................0 barrels
ARC0..............................0 barrels
Maverick.......................0 barrels
Flying J..........................0 barrels
Valero.............................0 barrels
Murphy Oil USA *.............0 barrels

*Sold at Wal-Mart <" href="" target=_blank rel=nofollow>, gas is from South Arkansas and fully USA owned and produced.
*Not only that but they give scholarships to all children in their town who finish high school and are legal US citizens.

All of this information is available from the U.S. Department of Energy and each company is required to state where they get their oil and how much they are importing.

But to have a real impact, we need to reach literally millions of gas buyers. With the help of the Internet, it's really simple to do. Now, don't wimp out at this point.... Keep reading and I'll explain how simple it is to reach millions of people!!

I'm sending this note to about thirty people. If each of you send it to at only ten more (30 x 10 = 300)... And those 300 send it to at least ten more (300 x 10 = 3,000).... And so on, by the time the message reaches the sixth generation of people, we will have reached over THREE MILLION consumers!!!!!!!

If those three million get excited and pass this on to ten friends each, then 30 million people will have been contacted! If it goes one level further, you guessed it...THREE HUNDRED MILLION PEOPLE-the entire population of the United States of America !!!!

Again, all you have to do is forward this message to 10 people. How long would that really take you? If each of us sends this e-mail out to ten more people, within one day all 300 MILLION people could theoretically be contacted during the next eight days.

Tell Congress to leave 5,000-year-old definition of marriage alone -- Letters warn of dangers of 'frivolous experimentation' of foundation of society

A new campaign is calling on members of Congress to defend marriage between one man and one woman as the foundation of civilization, because the alternative is a redefinition of the institution - "for the first time in more than 5,000 years" - simply to satisfy the demands of a "miniscule segment of our population."

The Newest Labor War: Union, Feds Attack Boeing

Did the NLRB bite off more Carolina BBQ than it can chew?

The National Labor Relations Board (OBAMA SUPPORTING UNIONS) wants to prevent Boeing, a private company, from building its new 787 Dreamliner in South Carolina, a right to work state.

If the NLRB thought this would be an easy task, it was wrong, and also insane. Sen. Jim DeMint is angry. The move, he says, is "nothing more than a political favor for the unions who are supporting President Obama's reelection campaign." DeMint is going to "use every tool at my disposal to stop the president from carrying out this malicious act." Hell, even the South's most delicate senator is upset. Sen. Lindsey Graham said the NLRB's scheme is "one of the worst cases of unelected bureaucrats doing the bidding of special interest groups that I've ever seen." The bolt munchers at the International Association of Machinists District 571, meanwhile, are hailing this as "a victory for all American workers." Oh, except for the workers in South Carolina, where the unemployment rate is hovering around 10 percent.

Rallying for a Better Future

by John Hood, Carolina Journal, April 18, 2011

http://www.carolinajournal.com/jhdailyjournal/display_jhdailyjournal.html?id=7651
RALEIGH – Is the Tea Party movement kaput?

The Left would dearly love for the answer to be yes. But it’s not.

Beginning as a spontaneous reaction to fiscal insanity in Washington – to billion-dollar bailouts and trillion-dollar deficits – the Tea Party movement mobilized millions of activists and voters, created new organizations and breathed new life into existing ones, and added a broader range of federal, state, and local issues to the nation’s political agenda, such as renewing constitutional limits on federal power.

Without Tea Party activists, neither party – that’s right, neither party – would currently be proposing plans to cut trillions of dollars from the federal budget over the next decade. Neither party would be proposing fundamental tax reform based on broader bases, lower rates, and the end of long-running distortions in the tax code. Neither party would be proposing major changes to Medicare, Medicaid, and other unaffordable entitlements.

And while then-Democratic Washington enacted ObamaCare last year despite the strenuous objections of Tea Party voters, it’s likely that without their presence in the debate the opposition to the president’s federal takeover of health care finance and regulation would have been less unified – and current litigation to overturn the individual mandate would include fewer states as plaintiffs.

Tea Party voters proved to be a major asset for conservative politicians last fall. Yes, there were a few places where Tea Party-backed candidates lost elections that mushy moderates might have won. But there were many more places where Tea Party voters turned out in unprecedented numbers to propel fiscal conservatives into office for the first time in generations.

North Carolina was one of those places. Running primarily on fiscal issues, Republicans captured a congressional seat, kept a Senate seat, won legislative majorities for the first time since 1870, and achieved parity in county-commission seats for the first time ever.

The Tea Party movement made history. And it is far from being history.

Over the weekend, thousands of local activists held Tax Day Tea Party rallies in more than a dozen communities across North Carolina. More than a thousand showed up in Raleigh alone at two downtown events on Friday afternoon. Hundreds more showed up at each of several other events on Friday, Saturday, and Sunday in cities from Wilmington and Morehead City on the coast to Waynesville and Morganton in the west, and many points in-between. Even news of the approaching storms on Saturday, while probably dampening turnout in some places, didn’t deter Tea Party leaders from carrying out their plans.

At the rallies, activists celebrated their accomplishments to date and observed how much more work needs to be done to restore fiscal responsibility, economic vitality, and our traditions of liberty in North Carolina and the nation.

Was there some frustration with the pace of change? Naturally. All political movements experience it. It’s always easier to describe a reform agenda in theory than it is to implement it in practice. Still, with legislative majorities in North Carolina promise to balance the state budget without tax hikes and conservative leaders in Washington proposing such innovative ideas as block grants for Medicaid and a competitive premium-support plan for Medicare, it would be hard to conclude that progress is invisible or impossible.

The main message from this weekend’s rallies is that, in North Carolina at least, the Tea Party movement is not going away. The fiscal irresponsibility of the Bush era and the fiscal insanity of the Obama era have combined to create a new force that will influence electoral politics and public policy for the foreseeable future.

Ready or not, here they come.

THE BEAUFORT PATRIOT TEA PARTY IS SPONSORING A TOWN HALL MEETING, THURSDAY APRIL 21. 2010 IN WASHINGTON, NC WITH REPRESENTATIVE BILL COOK

THE BEAUFORT PATRIOT TEA PARTY IS SPONSORING A TOWN HALL MEETING, THURSDAY APRIL 21. 2010 IN WASHINGTON, NC WITH REPRESENTATIVE BILL COOK

Rep. Bill Cook, representative from NC House District 6 (Beaufort, NE Pitt) will be hosting a “town hall” meeting on Thursday, April 21, 2010 beginning at 7:00 p.m. in the Second Floor Superior Court Room in the Beaufort County Courthouse at 112 W. 2nd St. Street in Washington, N. C. The public is invited to attend, regardless of partisan persuasion.

Rep Cook will share what is happening in the General Assembly in a brief presentation and then the floor will be open for questions and comments from those attending. The focus should be on issues and items of concern related to the state legislature. It will not be necessary to sign up to speak but speakers will be asked to identify themselves. The press will report on the meeting and this may include audio and video taping which may be made public. Other legislators who may choose to attend will also be recognized and offered an opportunity to make comments and/or respond to questions.

Rep. Cook said: “I look forward to meeting with constituents of the Sixth District on April 21. While I have attended many meetings around the district I am especially happy to host this Town Hall style meeting. I’ll try to brief people attending on what has been going on in Raleigh but I am even more interested in listening. I hope people will come out and help us do a better job of representing them by expressing their ideas, comments and particularly their suggestions.

Our state is facing some critical decisions, especially with regard to the budget. While it is natural for everyone to want to preserve their particular interest, we are at a point where we need as many suggestions for how we can hold down the cost of government as we can get. I hope we will get some good suggestions along these lines on the 21st."

John Hood's Daily Journal

Got to Pick a Pocket or Two

By John Hood, April 21, 2011

RALEIGH – Consider some of the stories making news in North Carolina in the past few weeks:

• Gov. Bev Perdue seeks a disaster declaration to make the state eligible for federal recovery funds in the aftermath of devastating tornadoes.
• Some Republican lawmakers in the General Assembly try to block North Carolina’s participation in a federal high-speed rail program they view as fiscally irresponsible.
• The GOP legislature passes a bill that both extends jobless benefits and approves a continuing resolution to keep state government operating past July 1 if there is no signed state budget. Perdue vetoes the bill, arguing that she shouldn’t have to agree to future state budget cuts in exchange for extending federally funded benefits.

Although these are separate events, they do have a common theme: the pursuit of federal funds for North Carolina projects. As Washington’s role in public finance has continued to expand, it’s difficult to find any state or local issue that isn’t touched by it. For almost every major state program – public schools, colleges, Medicaid, and transportation – federal funds play a large and growing role.

As a result, federal politician and bureaucrats have gained power at the expense of state and local ones. That, in turn, has accentuated the influence of special-interest groups – for whom it is less expensive to wield influence over central authorities in Washington than over dozens or hundreds of separate jurisdictions – and diminished the influence of average taxpayers.

Furthermore, the entire political debate has been distorted by the myth of “federal” funding. In a financial sense, there is no such thing. It is metaphysically impossible for “Washington” to fund “the states” with revenue that is not raised in the states, either immediately in taxes or by future taxes to pay off today’s federal borrowing.

In the case of the budgetary showdown between Perdue and the Republican legislature, for example, the governor and her allies insisted that there was no logical relationship between jobless benefits, extensions of which would be financed with federal funds, and balancing the state budget. They saw the legislation combining the two issues as little more than political blackmail.

Republicans didn’t see it that way. Yes, they were seeking to exercise some leverage over Perdue, who has been on a veto streak lately. But they also rejected the notion that extending North Carolina’s jobless benefits would have no impact on North Carolina taxpayers.

For one thing, the federal funding for extended benefits is a temporary feature of past stimulus legislation, not a permanent policy. In 2012, that extra federal funding disappears. A vote to extend benefits today could become a precedent for 2012 extensions that would have a fiscal impact on state government.

More importantly, however, all North Carolina taxpayers are also federal taxpayers, by definition. Directly or indirectly, they bear the incidence of federal taxes that flow to Washington and then (sometimes) flow back to North Carolina, albeit with a substantial debit for shipping and handling charges.

The “federal” funding for extended jobless benefits in North Carolina won’t come from New York or California. Those states also have unemployed workers receiving benefits. The funding will come from North Carolina. It will come out of the same pockets of the same households and businesses that would also be asked to pay higher taxes if Perdue’s state budget plan prevails over the GOP alternative.

That’s the connection. Perdue and her defenders seem to believe that if they insist loudly enough on the distinction between my left pocket and my right pocket, I’ll forget that both pockets are on the same pair of pants – and that regardless of which pocket gets picked, the money comes from the same bank account.

As I have previously observed, when politicians promise to fight harder to bring more “federal” dollars back to North Carolina, that’s like responding to chronic shoplifting or embezzlement at your store by hiring thieves to steal money from other stores. It would be better to hire guards to protect our own stuff in the first place.

That’s what North Carolina’s elected representatives ought to be doing.

Sun Journal Letter to the Editor by CCTA Vice Chairman, Nancy Murdoch

4/19/20

DEBT

“The fact that we are here today to debate raising America’s debt limit is a sign of leadership failure. It is a sign that the U.S. government can’t pay its own bills. It is a sign that we now depend on ongoing financial assistance from foreign countries to finance our governments’ reckless fiscal policies.”

The above quote can be attributed to then-Sen. Barack Obama on March 16, 2006.

The problem didn’t originate in Washington, DC. Our states, counties and cities are playing the same game. The usual excuse is “if we don’t get it (the Federal money), then someone else will”. Do they think the money grows on the cherry trees in D.C.? For example, we have the Craven County “lottery.” Through some kind of unknown criteria, certain citizens get repairs made to their houses, and at times, even have said homes replaced — all on the taxpayers’ dime.

NC RENEGADE: Arrogance in Office – The Obama Way

The article outlining obama’s arrogance toward abiding by Congressional legislation is just another example of this man’s lack of honor for the United States, our Constitution and the people. Watch this short video concerning signing statements by obama.

OBAMA CAUGHT IN ANOTHER LIE!  “I taught the Constitution for 10 years, I believe in the Constitution, and I will obey the Constitution of the US.  We are not going to use signing statements as a way of doing to do an end run around Congress.”

20 Tax Facts That Will Blow Your Mind

In honor of tax day, Business Insider put together a slide show on the 20 tax facts that will “make your head explode.” Here’s a sample:

1. The IRS has more employees than there are people in Flint, Michigan (106K vs 102K).
2. Americans spend $28 billion and 8 billion hours each year doing their taxes.
3. The number of pages in the tax code has increased 16,775% in the past century.
4. You could fill Dallas with the number of accountants Americans hire to help with taxes each year (over a million).

More than 100 come out for annual Tea Party tax event

At least 200!

SUN JOURNAL NEW BERN
2011-04-18 20:43:44

State and local officials helped “celebrate” tax day by holding a Tea Party rally in Union Point Monday.

The annual event is sponsored by Coastal Carolina Taxpayers Association and drew a little more than 100 people, some holding placards reading “Charity yes! Redistribution no!” and “Reclaim the Constitution!”

N.C. Rep. Norman Sanderson, R-Pamlico, said New Bern’s rally was the future of the nation because people who cared came out to make a difference.

“The Bible says when there are three present, there isn’t much the Devil can do,” Sanderson said.

Sanderson was in New Bern as part of his tour viewing the weekend tornado damage in his district. But when in Raleigh, trying to help further his constituents’ interests, Sanderson said “it was a fight every single day.”

For every legislator, there are probably 25 lobbyists, he said.

“I could say we are having hard times because of what we were left with,” Sanderson said. “But I hear that so much I’m not going to say it.”

People in the audience, sitting in lounge chairs, on the grass or standing, applauded.

“Leaders have to deal with what is and not what used to be,” Sanderson said.

Gas prices and food prices are going through the roof and people are asking, is it ever going to stop? Sanderson said.

“Well, I have confidence in the people of North Carolina,” he said. “They put the right people in Raleigh.”

Sanderson said he was tired of making compromises and he would rather fight and lose than make a compromise, which brought more cheers from the crowd.

“We know why you sent us to Raleigh,” he said. “Folks, if they are not going to do what you elected them to do, it’s time to get someone else in there.”

Sanderson said the Tea Party was being effective because the people in the party realize how they are being affected by the government; they are not willing to put off and hope for better times; they rally for their causes; and they refuse to vote for elected officials who do not vote for them.

John Vanharn, visiting the rally while he was in New Bern on vacation from his home in Holland, said he agreed with the Tea Party vision, especially when Andrew Henson of the John W. Pope Civitas Institute, a political think tank, talked about how politicians were wasting taxpayers’ money.

“Why should politicians screw American taxpayers to pay for the rest of the world?” Vanharn asked.

NC RENEGADE: Eat the Reich

Eat the Reich

An interesting weekend concerning respect for the president (lower case intentional) of the United States of America. The debate centers on respect of Obama versus respect for the office of the Presidency. Pouring water over an Obama mask at the Raleigh Tea Party was considered to be an act of disrespect for the office of the President by some people or an act of disrespect for the man. Arguments could be made for both sides but let’s consider another viewpoint concerning respect.

A Message from our Chairman

Dear Fellow CCTA Members and Friends,

We're having a TEA PARTY Rally at Union Point Park (at the gazebo) from 5:30 until 7:30 PM on Monday, April 18th (the day taxes are due). Lynn Childs is our Tea Party Chairman, and she's got a great event planned. Bring friends, family, signs, lawn chairs, and yourselves with "brain in gear" and join us!

The next evening, Tuesday, April 19th, we'll have our monthly meeting at 7:00 PM at Healing Grace Church (Country Club Road to Wedgewood to Red Fox Road).  Hal James, our Watchdog Committee Chairman (and the love of my life), will be our speaker. We'll hear about Craven County Taxes and Budgeting, plus State and Federal tax info. "We the people" have had some successes, but I think hearing Hal will reinforce the notion that we have a lot more work to do.

Getting our country back on a fiscally sound basis where there's abundant opportunity for all our citizens is a big job. It will take some heavy lifting, but by working together, like minded people can do it. The alternative is unacceptable.

I hope to see YOU at both events!

Sincerely,
Raynor

(Raynor James, Chairman, Coastal Carolina Taxpayers Association -- CCTA)

CCTA monitors and reports on key issues to you, the taxpayer. Informative programs begin each monthly meeting. We sponsor Tea Parties, educational seminars, and candidate forums. CCTA espouses lower taxes, smaller government, adherence to the Constitution, a strong free enterprise system, and personal freedoms with personal responsibility.

Pajamas Media » (PJM Exclusive) Did Obama and Holder Scuttle Terror Finance Prosecutions?

Pajamas Media » (PJM Exclusive) Did Obama and Holder Scuttle Terror Finance Prosecutions? High-level source concedes DOJ let off CAIR co-founders and others for political reasons. The joke is that a number of leaders of Islamic organizations (all of whom publicly opposed the King hearings on Muslim radicalization) were about to be indicted on terror finance support charges by the U.S. attorney’s office in Dallas, which had been investigating the case for most of the past decade. But those indictments were scuttled last year at the direction of top-level political appointees within the Department of Justice (DOJ) — and possibly even the White House.

Facts About Ryan's Plan vs. President Obama's Plan:

(From the Wall Street Journal)

Medicare Overhaul is at the Forefront of the Debate

Ryan's Plan

  • Does not affect Medicare for those now 55 years of age and older.
  • For those under 55, Medicare is changed to a "premium support" system based on private insurance plans when they reach 65, the age of eligibility. "The government would pay the first $15,000 in premiums." The amount is means tested, so some people would get more.
The Obama plan relies on Obamacare which includes cuts to Medicare providers and other methods to control costs, such as the "central planning agency," Independent Payment Advisory Board.  (quotation attributed to Larry Kudlow, economist)

Medicaid for the Poor

  • Ryan's plan changes Medicaid for the poor to a block grant, providing flexibility to states.
Obama again relies on Obamacare which actually expands coverage thereby increasing costs.

Social Security Reform

  • Ryan's plan "requires the president to submit a plan for Social Security long-term finances and calls on Congress to consider it." The budget plan does not specifically make changes.
President Obama has said he wants bipartisan cooperation in addressing the problem.

Corporate Taxes
  • Ryan calls on decreasing the top rate from 35% to 25%. Offsets are made by removing certain deductions and credits, currently unspecified.
President Obama has called for lower tax rates, but hasn't specified the amount or changes in deductions and/or credits.

Individual Taxes

  • Ryan's plan decreases the top rate from 35% to 25% and eliminates or reduces certain deductions and exceptions that are currently unspecified.
President Obama said the would raise the top tax rate from 35% to 39.6%. He also said in his speech at George Washington University that he would raise taxes on the "wealthiest 2%."

The Resolution now goes to the Senate where it is expected to be defeated by the Democrats.

Carlton's Corner

It is a thoroughly researched and documented case that since Obama was born to a Kenyan father, he is NOT a natural born citizen. So what, you say? Read about the recorded intent of the framers of the constitution, about numerous court cases over the years and a host of other points that make the point very clear: He is not eligible to be president; never was. No birth certificate changes that. Ineligible to be commander-in-chief (lawful orders?); unsuitable to lead America (divided loyalties); seems to us that every law he signed is in fact void. There should actually be jail time for a fraud of this magnitude.

Please read, and watch the video, allowing for a lot of repetition in the pieces, and see if you don't think it's time for this to be acted on.

What Does Carlton Say?

In a utopian political environment , I would agree wholeheartedly with the Video contents. Therein lies the problem. The problem being that the administration bastardises the Constitution whenever required to substantiate their agenda-they essentially have their way with it while both the Congress, Judiciary and the people remain safety wired in the paralyzed position

It must be understood that the Obama administration's ultimate aim is to completely invalidate and neuter the Constitution by making it ----well,unconstitutional.

He is doing a masterful job of it--with little effective opposition.

The rationale here is that our Constitution is not compatible with Socialism . Therefore it must disappear. A given.

Fact is America is stuck with what they blindly embraced in 2008, and all issues WRT the elgibility issues depicted in the video will meet death on the vine not ulike all previous ones.

The genie has been released and getting her back into the box will be possible only with Divine Intercession .Man is not cutting the mustard, so to speak.

So I sadly espouse that if America is dependent upon the Constitution to somehow save us from the relatively unknown we elected (with no questions asked), all is lost.

My humble and personal opinion. All must form their own.

Carlton

“Video” Of Randy’s Right Speech at Raleigh Capital Tax Day Rally

MY HERO!

RALEIGH TEA PARTY APRIL 15, 2011
Didn’t seem controversial to me, I was just telling the truth about the unpresidential tactics used by President Obama, during the so-called budget compromise. Our Commander-in-Chief threatened are men and women not to cut any military pay checks if the Republicans did not sign the budget. It was a sleaziest act of his political career.

I lived through the govt shut down years ago and the military men and woman and their families were never at anytime held hostage from not being paid during the govt shut down.

You watch and see and judge for yourself.

Auditors find waste in Obama's weatherization program

The stimulus weatherization project--the one that was supposed to help millions of low-income homeowners across the country save money on their utility bills by spending thousands of government dollars to seal the cracks in their windows and doors--has been suspended in Delaware and is under close scrutiny in nearly a dozen states. In Joe Biden's home state, an auditor found that weather-proofing contractors were going above and beyond in their duties: Instead of just sealing windows and insulating attics, they were doing extreme home makeovers to the tune of many thousands and thousands of dollars more than expected! As a result, the program has been on hold for over a year, and "only 689 homes have been retrofitted while roughly 6,000 families are on the waiting list for help." Gee, how many jobs did that program create or save?

THE WHOLE TRUTH AND NOTHING BUT THE TRUTH FOLKS...

This was submitted by one of our members, and you may have seen this or something similar before.  FIRST OF ALL, we are not racist, nor do we have any problem with brave people who come here legally and WANT to assimilate and become Americans!  But this is certainly another issue!  ~ Lynn

Subject: Free Lunch - An Area That Looms Large over California's Educational Crisis

Free Lunch....

900 teachers just got laid off from the Los Angeles Unified School District ... They are $650,000 over their annual budget.

The following English teacher helps to explain one area that looms large over California 's educational crisis.  This English teacher has phrased it the best I've seen yet.  This should make everyone think, be you Democrat, Republican or Independent

From a California school teacher - - -

"As you listen to the news about the student protests over illegal immigration, there are some things that you should be aware of:

I am in charge of the English-as-a-second-language department at a large southern California high school which is designated a Title 1 school, meaning that its students average lower socioeconomic and income levels.

Most of the schools you are hearing about, South Gate High, Bell Gardens, Huntington Park , etc.. where these students are protesting, are also Title 1 schools.

Title 1 schools are on the free breakfast and free lunch program. When I say free breakfast, I'm not talking a glass of milk and roll -- but a full breakfast and cereal bar with fruits and juices that would make a Marriott proud. The waste of this food is monumental, with trays and trays of it being dumped in the trash uneaten.  (OUR TAX DOLLARS AT WORK)

I estimate that well over 50% of these students are obese or at least moderately overweight. About 75% or more DO have cell phones. The school also provides day care centers for the unwed teenage pregnant girls(some as young as 13) so they can attend class without the inconvenience of having to arrange for babysitters or having family watch their kids.  (OUR TAX DOLLARS AT WORK)

I was ordered to spend $700,000 on my department or risk losing funding for the upcoming year even though there was little need for anything; my budget was already substantial. I ended up buying new computers for the computer learning center, half of which, one month later, have been carved with graffiti by the appreciative students who obviously feel humbled and grateful to have a free education in America ..  (OUR TAX DOLLARS AT WORK)

I have had to intervene several times for young and substitute teachers whose classes consist of many illegal immigrant students here in the country less than 3 months who raised so much hell with the female teachers, calling them "Putas" (whores ) and throwing things, that the teachers were in tears.

Free medical, free education, free food, day care, etc, etc, etc. Is it any wonder they feel entitled not only to be in this country but to demand rights, privileges and entitlements?

To those who want to point out how much these illegal immigrants contribute to our society because they LIKE their gardener and housekeeper and they like to pay less for tomatoes: spend some time in the real world of illegal immigration and see the TRUE costs.

Higher insurance, medical facilities closing, higher medical costs, more crime, lower standards of education in our schools, overcrowding, new diseases etc., etc, etc. For me, I'll pay more for tomatoes.

Americans, We need to wake up. The guest worker program will be a disaster because we won't have the guts to enforce it. Does anyone in their right mind really think they will voluntarily leave and return?

It does, however, have everything to do with culture: A third-world culture that does not value education, that accepts children getting pregnant and dropping out of school by 15 and that refuses to assimilate, and anAmerican culture that has become so weak and worried about"political correctness " that we don't have the will to do anything about it.

If this makes your blood boil, as it did mine, forward this to everyone you know including your Congressmen and Senators.

CHEAP LABOR? Isn't that what the whole immigration issue is about?

Business doesn't want to pay a decent wage.
Consumers don't want expensive produce.
Government will tell you Americans don't want the jobs.

But the bottom line is cheap labor. The phrase "cheap labor" is a myth, a farce, and a lie. There is no such thing as "cheap labor.."

Take, for example, an illegal alien with a wife and five children. He takes a job for $5.00 or 6.00/hour. At that wage, with six dependents, he pays no income tax, yet at the end of the year, if he files an Income Tax Return, he gets an "earned income credit" of up to $3,200 free.

He qualifies for Section 8 housing and subsidized rent.
He qualifies for food stamps...
He qualifies for free (no deductible), no co-pay) health care.
His children get free breakfasts and lunches at school.
He requires bilingual teachers and books.
He qualifies for relief from high energy bills...

If they are or become, aged, blind or disabled, they qualify for SSI. Once qualified for SSI they can qualify for Medicare.. All of this is at (our) taxpayer's expense .

He doesn't worry about car insurance, life insurance, or homeowners insurance.
Taxpayers provide Spanish language signs, bulletins and printed material.
He and his family receive the equivalent of $20.00 to $30.00/hour in benefits.

Working Americans are lucky to have $5.00 or $6.00/hour left after paying their bills AND his.

The American taxpayers also pay for increased crime, graffiti and trash clean-up.

Cheap labor? YEAH RIGHT! Wake up people!

THESE ARE THE QUESTIONS WE SHOULD BE ADDRESSING TO THE PRESIDENTIAL CANDIDATES FOR EITHER PARTY. 'AND WHEN THEY LIE TO US AND DON'T DO AS THEY SAY, WE SHOULD REPLACE THEM AT ONCE!'
