The Right is Exploiting Our Children!

Remember a few months back when an 8-year-old boy from Maryland nibbled a Pop Tart into the shape of a pistol and then shot an Australian jogger in the back because he was bored?

Oh that's right — a Pop Tart is a yummy treat, not a weapon and could never be a weapon. I'm sorry. I got my "gun violence" stories mixed up.

Anyway, the eight-year-old Maryland boy was suspended from school. Then, if you recall, he was invited to a GOP fundraiser where he was presented with an NRA lifetime membership.

The Daily Kos, in a May 2013 article entitled, "NRA and GOP Team up to Exploit Eight-Year-Old Boy," described it thusly: "Oh, how cute. How droll. How… Disgusting."

Man, I hate to do this, but I agree with the Daily Kos. That one hurt. I think it is the first time and hope it to be the last. Oh well.

Although the kid did give the NRA membership to his parents, the GOP would've been better served by simply leaving the kid out of it.

In July of 2012, lefty blog News Corpse wrote that Brian Kilmeade of the Fox morning show had on two little girls that started their own lemonade stand. Kilmeade was evidently exploiting the two girls by asking them how they felt about Obama insisting that businesses "didn't build that." The seven-year-old answered rather cogently that their parents,’ friends and family had invested and helped in their venture but they thought it "rude" for the president to say such a thing.

A News Corpse blogger wrote: "When an alleged ‘news’ network asks a seven-year-old about the political implications of a presidential speech, you know they are either reaching in desperation for a new angle from which to attack a political foe, or they are conceding that their audience isn't capable of understanding anything above the level of the child."

So the left insists that using children to advance a political agenda is "disgusting" and "desperate."

I wonder how they would feel about a 12-year-old little girl being used as a tool for a political action fund raising scheme.

Well, logically one would think, demonstrated by the above adamant arguments, that they would be “disgusted” by it; right? We must, however, remember that logic and the left are like oil and water.

A while back I signed up to receive e-mail alerts from MoveOn.org. Yep — you read that right. It's sometimes handy to know what they're up to.

Today I received an alert that 12-year-old little Madison needs help raising $120,000 to fight against a new radical voter ID law just signed by the governor of North Carolina. The new law requires ID to vote (gasp), reduces early voting (gasp, gasp) and ends same-day registration. Oh the horror! It also ends pre-registration for 16 and 17-year-olds. Wow! I wasn't aware that provision even existed.

Get ’em early I guess.

No wonder the 12-Year-Old is so upset!

The alert claimed that little Madison has demanded a meeting with the Governor. The 120 grand will also pay for protesters, billboards, ads and a flyover by MoveOn's “99% airplane” which will "speak truth to power."

I think I may vomit.

NRA-ILA | North Carolina Comprehensive Pro-Gun Bill Signed into Law

July 30, 2013

Yesterday, the most comprehensive pro-gun reform bill in the Tar Heel State’s history since 1995, House Bill 937, was signed into law by Governor Pat McCrory (R).  This measure will take effect on October 1, 2013.
After the House and Senate approved different versions of H 937, the bill was sent to a House-Senate conference committee to resolve the differences between the two versions.  While the Senate version of H 937 sought to completely repeal the state’s antiquated and unnecessary requirement to obtain a permit to purchase a handgun, the final language approved by both legislative chambers, and has now been enacted into law, seeks to reform the handgun purchase permit law by making the following changes:
  • Improves and streamlines the permit issuing process.
  • Establishes a revocation requirement for individuals issued a permit who later become prohibited from purchasing or possessing a firearm.
  • Improves the reporting process of the records of individuals who are prohibited from purchasing or possessing firearms to the National Instant Criminal Background Check System (NICS).
  • Safeguards the confidentiality of individuals applying for a handgun purchase permit.
Your NRA will continue to work with legislators on future efforts to fully repeal the outdated handgun purchase permit law.
Along with several improvements to the handgun purchase permit law, H 937 also does the following:
  • Allows Concealed Handgun Permit (CHP) holders to lawfully carry their personal protection firearm into a restaurant that serves alcohol, provided they do not consume alcohol.
  • Removes the prohibition on CHP holders from carrying into a place where tickets are sold for admission.

NRA-ILA | Translating Anti-Gun Propaganda into English

In George Orwell's Nineteen Eighty-Four, a tyrannical government attempts to control how people think by, among other things, reducing language to "a medium of expression for the world-view and mental habits proper to the devotees of IngSoc [English Socialism]" and "to make all other modes of thought impossible." In the IngSoc government's new language, Newspeak, the original meanings of many words are discarded in favor of new definitions designed to conform people's thoughts to the tyrants' political objectives. For example, Newspeak phraseology includes this gem, "ignorance is strength," a nonsensical construction that gun control advocates appear to have taken literally.

Speaking of gun control advocates, that brings us to the Children's Defense Funds' (CDF) latest offering, "Protect Children, Not Guns, 2013." If you can stand it, bear with us now, while we translate a representative sample of the CDF's gibberish into English, so the real gist of what the group is saying can be conveyed. Sticking with conventional practice, we'll go with a "Top Ten," of sorts.

1. "The Senate voted down a package of common sense gun violence prevention measures." Translation: This year, the Senate rejected legislation that would have banned semi-automatic rifles like the AR-15, banned standard-capacity magazines that Americans want for self-defense and practical shooting sports, and paved the way for universal gun registration by requiring an FBI background check on private firearm sales. But if we refer to gun bans and registration as "gun safety," maybe some people who don't read the fine print will go along with us. Everyone's in favor of "safety," right?

2. "The U.S. has as many guns as people. The U.S. accounts for less than 5 percent of the global population, but owns an estimated 35 to 50 percent of all civilian-owned guns in the world." Translation: Americans have more guns than people in other countries, because they have a constitutionally protected right to keep and bear arms that people in other countries don't. But pretending that Americans have "too many" guns pleases our donors and helps keep the money rolling in.

3. "America's military and law enforcement agencies have four million guns. Our citizens have 310 million. Has this made our children safer?" Translation: Private citizens have almost 100 times more guns than the military and law enforcement agencies, because there are almost 100 times more civilian gun owners than there are military and law enforcement personnel who are issued firearms. Also, the rate of firearm-related deaths among children has decreased 59 percent over the last 20 years. But we'd be stupid to say that.

4. "The number of children and teens killed by guns in 2010 was nearly five times the number of U.S. soldiers killed in action that year in Iraq and Afghanistan." Translation: In 2010, there were over 83 million "children and teens" in America, compared to about 150,000 U.S. troops in Afghanistan and Iraq, so the per capita death rate among the military personnel was much higher than among the "children and teens." Not to mention that combat operations ended in Iraq in 2010. But the people who pay attention to us don't care about the facts, so let's just throw this out there and see what it gets us.

North Carolina: Conference Committee Continues to Debate Omnibus Firearms Reform Bill

July 19, 2013
Contact your State Legislators TODAY in Support of House Bill 937
As the omnibus Right-to-Carry reform bill, House Bill 937, continues to be debated by a House-Senate conference committee in Raleigh, your NRA continues to work with state legislators to pass the most comprehensive pro-gun bill possible this year.  Both teams of conferees are committed to keeping intact the language that would, among other things:
· Allow Concealed Handgun Permit (CHP) holders to lawfully carry their personal protection firearm into a restaurant that serves alcohol.
· Allow CHP holders to carry into a place where tickets are sold for admission.
· Fix the problem of anti-gun localities overstepping their authority regarding restricting CHP holders from carrying firearms into locally controlled parks.
· Allow CHP holders to transport and store their firearms in their vehicles when on the grounds of education facilities.
· Bring North Carolina in compliance with the standards set forth in the federal NICS Improvement Amendments Act (NIAA) of 2007—a critical mental health reform.
· Ensure the privacy of CHP holders by allowing access to the database of permittees only for law enforcement purposes.
· Remove the prohibition on CHP holders carrying their personal protection firearms during a parade or funeral.
· Remove the prohibition on using firearms with sound suppressing devices while otherwise lawfully hunting game.

These reforms, if enacted, would represent the most significant advancement of gun rights in North Carolina since the passage of the original CHP law in 1995.
The one provision of H 937 where there has been some disagreement is the state Senate’s inclusion of language to repeal the outdated and inefficient handgun purchase permit law.  The NRA remains committed to repealing this law, and transitioning North Carolina to using the National Instant Criminal Background Check System (NICS), as the overwhelming majority of states use.  However, due to opposition from the North Carolina Sheriffs' Association, the repeal of the handgun purchase permit has held up final passage of H 937.
One proposal to deal with the handgun purchase permit has been a partial repeal of it.  While this would arguably make the law less restrictive, supporting a partial repeal carries with it potentially problematic consequences.  As proposed, the partial repeal would remove the purchase permit requirement for handgun transfers through licensed gun dealers (where a NICS check would be conducted), but still require the permit be used for private transfers that take place at gun shows or are the result of someone who is not a licensed dealer advertising the sale of their handgun.  The NRA cannot support this compromise.

Letter to the Editor: Is this the future? By CCTA Member, Lou Call

March 25th, 2013

Letter to the Editor

Is this the future?
What you are about to read is a little troubling to say the least; most of you aren’t even aware that this has taken place. The fact that this has happened in New York State would make you believe that we live in North Carolina and it can’t happen here; and you would be wrong.

It gives us a glimpse into the mind of the true liberal progressive and what they have in store of America.

It is no secret that New York State is one of the most hostile environments in the Country when it comes to gun ownership and control. Chris W. Cox, executive director of NRA’s Institute for Legislative Action recently stated that, “Governor Andrew Cuomo and the New York State Legislature usurped the legislative and democratic process in passing extreme anti-gun measures with no committee hearings and no public input. This obvious disrespect for New Yorkers and their Second Amendment rights and will not be tolerated.”

He went on to say that “Despite the wishes of Governor Cuomo, law-abiding citizens have a fundamental right to keep commonly possessed firearms for defense of themselves and their families.”

What Mr. Cox is referring to is the New York State SAFE act; the Secure Ammunition & Firearms Enforcement act. SAFE encourages state residents to report “illegal” gun owners in exchange for a $500 reward. New Yorkers can call a "Gun Tip Line" if they believe someone they know has an illegal gun, according to CBS6Albany.com. Hotline calls are answered by state police and tips are referred to local law enforcement.

Reminiscent of programs in Cuba or the former Soviet Union, the "reward for turning in your neighbor" program is another example of overreaching by the anti-freedom, power-hungry Cuomo administration. It is outrageous, and it is un-American. These Gestapo like tactics were once employed in Germany during the thirties when true Germans were asked to report anyone harboring Jews or in the Soviet Union if your neighbor wasn’t on board with the Stalinist regime.

It can and will happen here unless we as a free people stand up and speak out. If nothing else we owe it to those who came before us who spilled their blood so that our Republic would continue. Our Constitution has stood fast against many internal threats; none greater than those threats of the last four years.

Do gun bans actually curb violent crime?

Do gun bans actually curb violent crime?

Exclusive: Chuck Norris warns of government's 'overreaching, bureaucratic tentacles'

(Editor’s note: This is Part 2 of Chuck Norris’ three-part series on reducing violent crime in the U.S. Part 1 is available here.)

Who isn’t sickened by the moral decay and heinous acts of violence across our country? My heart and prayers continue to go out to victims everywhere.

Not according to a recent Fox News investigation, “Assault-weapons ban no guarantee mass shootings would decrease, data shows.” The report concludes, “Data published earlier this year showed that while the [Clinton assault] ban was in place, from 1994 to 2004, the number of mass shootings actually rose slightly during that period. Add to that the fact that most gun crimes in America are committed with handguns… [and] as the NRA points out, only a ‘tiny fraction’ of crimes involve assault weapons no matter how it’s measured.”

Examiner.com elaborated, “Crime statistics compiled by a Northeastern University professor, the Census Bureau, and the Milwaukee Journal Sentinel show that in the 10 years before the Clinton gun ban, there were 173 mass shootings with 766 victims. But during the 10 years of the ban, from 1995-2004, there were 182 mass shootings with 820 victims.”

Even in the U.K. when the Firearms Amendment of 1997 completely banned handguns from private citizens – which was prompted by a school massacre – handgun crime doubled over the next decade, according to British government crime reports. That is why U.K. citizens warn Americans in this video, “Don’t let them take your guns!”

Elected Officials Are Fundamentally Dishonest

An incredible letter, please read!

The Newtown Bee

Elected Officials Are Fundamentally Dishonest

To the Editor:

This letter was forwarded to Barack Obama, John Boehner, Chris Murphy, Dick Blumenthal, Elizabeth Esty, and Harry Reid

I live in Sandy Hook, CT. My family and close friends weren't harmed on December 14. That day impacted 26 families with an indescribable, staggering pain and anguish. For most of Sandy Hook, it merely affected us with an inescapable intensity of sadness and grief.

Gun control has long been a focus of many in this country. Though I'm not knowledgeable of all the nuances of the Second Amendment, based on the Founding Fathers' circumstances, it had far more to do with enabling the citizenry to protect themselves against tyrannical government than against local psychopaths. It is about providing a balanced firepower so when King George's successor came knocking on your door, you could fight back. Government today is no less inclined to abuse its authority than it was then. Based on the absurd and ongoing power grab that is present day Washington, it's as threatening as ever.

That so many of you view the NRA with its resistance to further restrictions on firearms as intransigent lunatics has far more to do with how you conduct yourselves in office than it does with the NRA's actions.

You in public office are fundamentally dishonest people. You lead lives of deception at every turn, structuring your lives as comfortably as you can while governing with an indifference and arrogance that is absolutely maddening. When the country is reeling from financial disaster, you waste a trillion dollars on a health care bill we can't afford and you've never read. You claim it's critical because health care costs are killing this country... no they're not, you are! You are killing this country. You endorse the ongoing slaughter of millions of unborn children and whine when terrorists are water boarded. You can't lecture us right in Newtown High School about not doing enough to keep our children safe, while simultaneously slaughtering the unborn. You fabricate the intense, media laden drama of the fiscal cliff and lack the courage to do anything about truly reforming the obscene gluttony of government. You know you'll be out of office before the bill comes due… you don't care and have no integrity nor honor.   CONTINUED:  http://newtownbee.com/Opinions/Letters_to_the_Editor/2013/01-January/2013-01-10__13-58-39/Elected+Officials+Are+Fundamentally+Dishonest#.UPoI2VHG_OY.gmail

Letter to the Editor: Just the Facts, by CCTA Member, Lou Call

As the forces of liberal progressiveness muster their comrades across the country, here in Craven County we have at our disposal, two of their representatives. I am referring to two recent letters to the editor from representatives Harrison and Field.

To make their points they suggested that “If you have this uncontrollable urge to shoot something, please visit your local recruiter and enlist” or “(the NRA)…would arm teachers and thereby turn every classroom into a potential OK Corral.” To their credit they do have a way with words. Incidentally, liberals made the same claim more than 10 years ago when the concealed carry law went into effect in North Carolina.

But as most of us know a liberal progressive will never let facts get in their way. More to the point they will ignore or dismiss the facts that dispute their socialist agenda; that being the disarmament of America. What better way to control the populace by using “public safety” as their excuse.

It has been my experience that they love to use Australia as their poster boy for gun control for it was there that the government spent half a billion dollars on a forced buy-back and meltdown program to confiscate firearms. But things didn’t turn out quite the way they figured. According to one report I read 640,000 firearms were collected.

But what affect did this have on crime? Keep in mind that if liberals have their way this will be our future too.

Armed robberies up 69 percent, assaults with guns up 28 percent, gun murders up 19 percent and home invasions up 21 percent.

Letter to the Editor: Second Amendment, by CCTA Member Lou Call

Second Amendment

By Louis Call, New Bern
January 3, 2013

“ … That I will support and defend the Constitution of the United States against all enemies, foreign and domestic; that I will bear true faith and allegiance to the same.” What powerful words; think about it for a minute:

“ … Support and defend the Constitution of the United States against all enemies, foreign and domestic.”

What do you think our Forefathers had in mind when they wrote those words over 200 years ago? They certainly didn’t want our Constitution subverted by a handful of politicians with hidden agendas. Their agenda was the protection of our Freedoms and Liberties from all enemies, foreign and domestic as clearly stated when our elected representatives step forward, places his/her hand on the Bible and swears the Oath of Office.

But something is about to change unless you and I step forward. As is the usual case, when a socialist administration is in power, they will use any crisis to attack our Constitution. They will use any excuse; clean air and water, energy efficiency, gun violence — to gain more control over our lives. Can you name one person who doesn’t want clean air and water, more miles per gallon from your vehicle or protection from gun violence? The real question is, how do we get there.

The funerals had barely finished for those 20 children and six adults in Connecticut when the leftist media started on its crusade for more gun control.

Their goal, and that of some of our elected representatives, is the demise of the Second Amendment. I am not suggesting that it will be dissolved; just little bites taken out of it. That way they think we won’t notice; but we will.

The government has a long-range plan to take care of you and me from womb to tomb. Private organizations aren’t part of the plan because they would have to give up some power if we suddenly decided to take personal responsibility for ourselves and be guided by personal initiative.

As an example the National Rifle Association has put forth and agreed to sponsor and support the National School Shield program under the direction of Asa Hutchinson. Space does not permit a full outline of this program but I suggest you Google NRA National School Shield for a full review.

Here is an example of what I mean when I say “little bites.” Sen. Diane Feinstein’s (D-Calif.) legislation for a new ban would, among other things, redefine “assault weapons.” It would require current owners of such firearms to register them with the federal government under the National Firearms Act, and require forfeiture of the firearms upon the deaths of their current owners.

All liberals love this kind of stuff EXCEPT none of which will keep you safe in your homes, places of business or schools.

What it will really do is set the stage, in the future, for confiscation of firearms giving a hostile government the location of all registered firearms. Can’t happen in the good ol’ USA? Think again … it’s already happened in New Orleans after hurricane Katrina. Warrantless searches by The “Big Easy” police department were used going door to door confiscating firearms under the guise of “an emergency.” A policing agency left law abiding citizens totally defenseless against looters. The New Orleans Police Department was sued in court, lost, and required to return all firearms collected.

Today, more so than 200 years ago, our Constitution is under attack from forces within our own government. It is facing a small but determined domestic enemy that views our Constitution as an impediment that must be subverted to achieve their agenda. If we allow this force of evil to succeed, our grandchildren will never know the country you and I grew up in. From all those “little bites” will come the ultimate loss of freedom and liberty will be just another word in the dictionary.

But there is something you can do. You can demand that our legislators adhere to our Constitution as it was written and that the rights of individuals are to be protected at all cost. Their authority over our country comes from you and I. We will not tolerate that abdication of our Republic to a tyrannical regime and we will support and defend the Constitution of the United States against all enemies, foreign and domestic; so help us God.

Letter to the Editor: Exploiting the Blood of Innocents, by CCTA Member Lou Call

Letter to the Editor

July 29, 2012

Exploiting the Blood of Innocents

It seemed like just minutes after the announcement of the death of thirteen people in a movie theater in Colorado Spring’s, the extreme liberals in the Democratic party pointed the finger of blame at the Tea Party. Reaching a new level of stupidity their out cries for more gun control echoed over the media news waves while ignoring the real culprit in increased violence.

Let me poise the following questions to the reader. When is the last time you’ve heard criticism over the violence and depravity that comes from liberal Hollywood?

Just how many movies must someone under twenty one have to watch, where human beings are butchered , slaughtered and debased, before it affects their psyche?

What should we make of the video game industry that produces video games where young children, many starting at a very young age, are involved in competition to destroy characters on a video screen? Image’s of living things, both human and animal, are obliterated in a sea of blood with no thought given that ‘something’ was destroyed. How many video games are out there that depict ‘real persons’ in a combat setting where the taking of a human life is but a click away.

Now liberals will cry that to ban the works of Hollywood is an infringement of their rights of self expression; their 1st Amendment rights. And they will accuse the parents of allowing their young children to be exposed to this entertainment (?). It’s parents fault and you know what? They’re right.

The same applies to gun ownership and our 2nd Amendment rights. You see, it’s not the guns or the NRA or the Tea Party; it’s the individual. And when we damage the psyche of the young, by making them immune to death through movies and video games, we create a Colorado Springs. An ‘individual’, playing out the role of the Dark Knight, is the work of today’s society presented on the Big Screen.

The mission of the Tea Party can best be summed up as to uncover, expose and defeat those who have abandoned our Constitution. They are comprised of all people who support the Constitution!

Turning a massacre into political fodder is a clear sign of desperation on the part of the liberal left and they are hoping you will buy into this stupidity. I know you are smarter than that.

Letter to the Editor: A threat approaches... by CCTA Member Lou Call

May 29, 2012

A threat approaches…

There are forces at work in our Nation’s Capitol that wish to dismantle our Constitution and will do so by bypassing Congress by any means possible.

Perhaps the most dangerous threat to our liberties comes from the United Nations Small Arms treaty which is supported by the Obama administration and our Secretary of State, Hillary Clinton.

Our 2nd Amendment reads: ‘A well regulated Militia, being necessary to the security of a free State, the right of the people to keep and bear Arms, shall not be infringed.’ Our Founding fathers lacked trust in any government including our own to respect the rights of free citizens. They placed in the hands of the law abiding individual(s) the means by which to forcefully oppose a tyrannical government in our Nations future, both foreign and domestic.

The Oath of Office for the President of the United States affirms this in these words: “I do solemnly swear (or affirm) that I will support and defend the Constitution of the United States against all enemies, foreign and domestic;”

The UN Small Arms Treaty is going to be used to circumvent our 2nd Amendment and eventually our total Bill of Rights. They believe that a one world government is sovereign whereas Americans believe that the individual is sovereign.

Appearing before the UN Small Arms committee last summer, Wayne LaPierre, Executive Vice President of the NRA had this to say in regards to the make up of the committee.

“Their member list reads like a who’s who of human rights abusers. I was in New York to testify before this committee. I stood in front of representatives from China, North Korea, Cuba, Syria, Sudan-all those great bastions of freedom.”

Under our laws all treaties must be passed by a 2/3 majority in the Senate; no problem you say! Yet we have a president that just bypassed the Senate when, by Executive Order 13547, ratified the LOST Treaty. A Google search for Law of the Sea Treaty (LOST) ratified by Obama’s Executive Order 13547 will support this.

We live in dangerous times and it’s becoming obvious that elements within our government are out of control. The man in the oval office has no problem side stepping the legislative branch of government when it suits his agenda.

Perhaps Samuel Adams said it best when he wrote, “Let the Constitution never be construed to authorize Congress..to prevent the people of the United States, who are peaceable citizens, from keeping their own arms.”

A closing thought. America is still a beacon for the rest of the World…proof that ordinary people can be trusted with extraordinary power and that set free, we can live in peace, govern ourselves and control our own fates.

Letter to the Editor, Carteret County News-Times: Patriot, Tom Austin

Letter to the Editor, Carteret County News-Times

Ref: letter by Kenneth W. Humphrey - Chairman Carteret County Democrat Party [“Obama Rising - Totally in charge”] February 4, 2011

Feb. 9, 2011

Sir / Ms,

My apologies for taking so long to refute the many statements made by Kenneth W. Humphrey - Chairman Carteret County Democrat Party, but I was dazzled at the inaccurate and false statements he made throughout the letter. So I will start at the top. Kenneth W. Humphrey - Chairman Carteret County Democrat Party - has stated that “conservative moderates” were drawing analogies between President “where is my teleprompter” Obama and the great communicator President Ronald Reagan. I have not heard any “conservative moderates” make any such statements. I did hear some liberal commentators trying to compare Obama to President Ronald Reagan. This surprised me because these same people had always declared their hate for President Ronald Reagan. And Kenneth W. Humphrey - Chairman Carteret County Democrat Party, for your general information a moderate is not a conservative. As for conservatives, they have compared the two and Obama is shown to be a selfish little child next President Ronald Reagan. Obama can’t give a 2 minute speech without his teleprompter and speeches written by others. President Ronald Reagan would give an outline of what he wanted to say to speech writers and they would give a speech to him to review. He would then correct and rewrite it so it was his speech, not something created for him by a back room hack. Many times he sat at his desk and wrote it out longhand. President Obama always talks about how great it is to have the government in charge of your life and how only the government should be allowed to decide how you will live, if you are allowed to live. He will say that in speeches given in the united States. In speeches delivered outside the country, it is a different story. He will talk about how evil the United States is and he will apologize for us being a free and capitalist nation. President Ronald Reagan gave speeches on how great this nation is because of the strength of the American citizen and NOT because of the strength of government. He knew that it was citizens with a dream that built this nation to greatness, not the government. He believed in this country and its people.

As for the shooting of Representative Gabrielle Giffords, all the proof that has been presented is that the “alleged” shooter was a politically left leaning nut case, known to be a nut case and the sheriff in that country (a democrat) failed to do his job by putting the shooter on the list to prevent his buying a firearm. They allow that in Arizona! In Arizona law enforcement can put a person on a list to prevent a non-felon with behavior problems that may become a threat from buying a firearm. So the sheriff failed to do his job and you point a finger at the NRA? How does that work? And by the way Representative Gabrielle Giffords is a NRA member and a gun owner.

As a member of the local TEA Party group I must point out that I am NOT a Republican. We, the TEA Party, have given notice to the Republican party that we will NOT be co-opted. We may agree on some things, but we are tired of the normal DC politics in all the parties. So I don’t know where you get the statement “GOP - TEA Party prattle”, unless you are just against the Constitution of the United States of America. That is what we in the TEA Party are working for. To bad the DNC can’t say the same.

The health care bill may have some changes in it, but it will not be revoked as long as Senator Reid, President Obama and other socialist leaning people are in power. They are working as hard as they can to form a socialist economy in this country and destroy the capitalist economy we have now that allows an individual to dream and work to make that dream come true. So we can just keep working to put an end to the government intrusion into our health care and the dictatorial control over the medical professionals. You want to reduce health care cost? Get the government out of it!

Medicare will stay. There will be changes and improvements. No conservative is going to abandon people to die in the street. Conservatives believe in life. We are the ones against murdering the unborn babies. It is the democrats and other liberals that want to kill the children even before they have had a chance to breath. What greater hatred for life can there be then to kill the unborn baby?

Will Social Security stay? For a while yet. I personally want it phased out. It would take a few decades, but we should start looking at ending it as a retirement service. Those already on Social Security would stay. It is to late to do anything else for them, but why should a person 20 or 25 be forced to take part in a ponzi scam? If you feel the government should be involved in forcing someone to put back their own money for their retirement, then let the individual decide how that money is saved and secured. It is their money and their future. If they want to buy stocks or mutual funds or just put it in a bank account that should be their decision. I can’t find out where the Government has the right to put a gun to my head and say “give us your money to give to someone else and maybe we will give you someone else’s money when you get old”. If you put the money in a bank or in stocks then you decide who gets it when you die, not the government. My money should be private. YOU did not earn my money and I did not earn yours. Yes Social Security should be phased out. It is nothing but a FDR socialist controlled operation to have the government control your life as you get older.

The democrats, throughout history, did not get the “big things” right. They fought against Civil Rights. In case you have forgotten, Rev. Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. was a REPUBLICAN as was his father. It was the Republicans that fought against slavery. The Democrats supported it. It was the Democrats that started the KKK. The Republicans fought against them. It was a democrat president that segregated the US military. It was the NC Democratic party that sectioned the white riot in Wilmington, NC (the Wilmington Race Riot of 1898) and passed the “Jim Crow” laws in NC. So much for democrats caring about racial equality. As for the Medicare and Medicaid and their bloated programs, I don’t think I would be doing much bragging. The massive amount of paperwork and people developed to support these programs should be an embarrassment to anyone involved. The doctors and hospitals say “this will cost $X” to save a live or improve the quality of a person’s life, but the government bean counters say “we will only pay you half $X”, so who is putting a price on a person’s life here? If the doctor or hospital say “we can not do it for that amount” (not will not, but cannot) the bean counters say “we are not paying any more”. So the doctor or hospital will work to save the life, but the doctor or hospital is no longer free. Being forced to work for what the government dictates has turned them, doctors and hospitals, into serfs or servants without the right to sell their skills on the open market. And the democrats want more of this bloated actions and government control with their “health care program”.

I cannot believe that anyone, including Mr. Kenneth W. Humphrey - Chairman Carteret County Democrat Party, would have anything to say about the new Speaker of the House after the dictatorial action of the possible psychotic, botox addicted, crazy eyed, shrilled voice, pro-socialist, pro-Marxist, anti American and anti-capitalist Nancy Pelosi. If she and Sen. Harry Reid had their way we would have a socialist economy controlled by the unions with a Marxist government and under the thumb of the UN.

Kenneth W. Humphrey’s (Chairman Carteret County Democrat Party) attack on the relationship between the conservatives in this country and President Ronald Reagan is at best ludicrous. Did President Ronald Reagan do things that the “far right” conservatives didn’t like? I am sure there were some things. Like when he tried to work with the democrats and they kept trying to force their extreme leftist agenda, but they never doubted his love for this country. President Obama’s love towards this country has been doubted from the very start. The deficit President Ronald Reagan had to run up was partly to repair the military the democrat Jimmy Carter had worked so hard to destroy. Were we a stronger country when Jimmy carter left office? NO. Were we a stronger nation when President Ronald Reagan left office? YES!

Bill Maher? Why would anyone bring a leftist comic that has falling ratings into any rational conversation? Why would anyone care what he has to say? And considering Mr. Maher has stated his hate for the Bible and Christians and President Ronald Reagan we can expect nothing worthwhile from him. Mr. Kenneth W. Humphrey - Chairman Carteret County Democrat Party I would think real hard before I used his name, Bill Maher, in any more letters or conversations unless you are trying to sway someone away from God the Almighty, Jesus and the Constitution of the United states of America. And it is not just Christians, Bill Maher hates all religions.

If you want to discuss the stock market, please remember that it was going up the last 6 months when President George H. W. Bush was running for office, but the democrats and liberal media lied and claimed the recession that followed the Gulf War was still going on. To the best of my knowledge there is always a recession following a large military action. This one was very short and the economy was raising. BUT it was falling the last 8 months that Clinton was in office and the democrats claimed it was good and going up. How does that figure? It was not Clinton’s fault, it was just the dot-com bubble busting. As for the last 6 months GWB was in office, the democrats had been in control of Congress for 18 months before that and President George W. Bush had tried many times to get them to do something about the Freddie Mac and Fannie Mea problems, but they had refused. So when the housing market went south and it hit the stock exchange due to the use of bundled sub-prime mortgages the banks were FORCED by the democrats in congress to give out, the economy dropped. I am no fan of President George W. Bush but he did warn them what was going to happen and asked for the changes to be made, but they turned their back on him. Then they tried to blame President George W. Bush for their failures to take corrective action. The “power dive” that Mr. Kenneth W. Humphrey - Chairman Carteret County Democrat Party refers to was increased by the actions of the unqualified, America hating, pro-socialist, Marxist trained, self important, arrogant, tool of the left that was elected president, President Barrack Hessian Obama and his admitted communist advisors.

I could go on and on, but let me just point out a few things quickly. Michelle Bachmann is NOT the leader of the TEA party. She is a member of a congressional caucus. BIG difference. Gov. Sarah Palin is NOT the leader of the Republican Party. She is one voice among many that is calling out for change. Yes, she is very visible. Maybe that is because the people like what they hear and believe what she says.

President Barrack Hessian Obama has NO leadership ability. I don’t think he has the ability to lead a group of people out of a burning building with the doors open and the lights on unless a teleprompter told him the way! So I will end this by saying that every time I see him standing there with his chin pointing at the sky and his arrogant nose in the air I think of the photos I have seen in history books of Mussolini and how he, Mussolini, was also a big fan of government control and socialist economies.
