Americans fought a war to end slavery. Will we have to fight to resist becoming slaves?

February 1st was National Freedom Day. It commemorates Lincoln’s signing of the House and Senate resolution that later became the 13th Amendment. Lincoln signed the Amendment outlawing slavery on February 1, 1865.

Short of another Civil War, Americans have reached a point verging on the loss of their Constitutional freedoms as ever before. The issue then was slavery, but Americans are rapidly moving toward having their Bill of Rights annulled by a President intent on ruling as a despot, making them slaves of a regime that rules as he wishes, ignoring the Constitution and Congress.

His actions have been supported by the Democratic members of Congress and because Republicans only control the House they have seen their legislative efforts to oppose the regime blocked, often by one man, Harry Reid, the Senate Majority Leader. The nation’s media with few exceptions have supported or ignored the President’s actions.

Why is this happening? A brief review of the means put forth in Saul Alinski’s “Rules for Radicals”, written by a “community organizer”, outlines what Obama is doing as he seeks to turn America into a socialist state. It is a process that progressives/liberals have been pursuing since early in the last century.

Reid Ends Marathon Session, Announces Schedule for Budget, Defense Bills

One all-nighter was not enough, but two will suffice.

The Senate’s leaders have reached an agreement that will bring to an end days of round-the-clock sessions following a series of noon votes.

“This schedule’s been extremely difficult for everyone,” Majority Leader Harry Reid, D-Nev., said in announcing the deal, which essentially allows votes that would have taken place late Friday and Saturday to instead occur at the usual hour of 5:30 p.m. on Monday.

Reid said he spoke with his counterpart, Minority Leader Mitch McConnell of Kentucky, to come up with the path forward.

“On Tuesday, we’ll begin consideration of the budget. On Wednesday, the defense bill. After that, we’ll address further nominations … the most important one is Janet Yellen to be on the Federal Reserve,” Reid said. “The others, I will work with Sen. McConnell. We’ll file on a number of them, see how many we can get done.”

The Senate’s next session will be at 1 p.m. Sunday, but it should be a sparsely attended because Reid has announced there will be no votes.

The left’s dangerous fascination


What is this fascination the left has that is so dangerous?

The left loves dictators and dictatorships.

In recent days, leading members of the Party of Treason from Harry Reid to Nancy Pelosi have been demanding that Barack Obama simply ignore Congress and unilaterally raise the debt ceiling.

Barack Obama has told the House Republicans he will not debate with them on the debt ceiling. “To hell with you evil Republicans! I am a dictator and I will do what I damn well please!” That is Obama’s attitude.

And his attitude is meeting with thundering applause from the left.

Obama has wistfully told people that he wished he had the powers of a dictator. He has looked at people like Egypt’s Muslim brotherhood dictator Mohammad Morsi and wished he could act by decree like Morsi did.


The American left is becoming even more radical than it has been in the past. Only a few days ago, the Atlantic Magazine online published a piece calling for the repeal of the Second Amendment. And a few days earlier, a left wing nut job professor from Georgetown law school called for simply abolishing the Constitution.

That is what the left would ultimately like. They want to see our Constitution thrown on the garbage heap of history.

It is not just the Constitution that they hate. They hate the idea of liberty and freedom. They hate the idea that there should be any restrictions on the power of government.

The left believes that government should have the ultimate decisions for the “greater good.” They do not believe in the rights of freedom or conscience. They believe the government has the right to tell you what to do, what to believe and ultimately whether you even live or die.

The great difference between the liberty state that our founding fathers created and the liberal states we have seen throughout modern history is that role the person plays in society. In the liberty state, the person owns the state. The person is a citizen not a subject. The person is given rights by God that the state cannot take away.

In the states the left loves so much and wants us to emulate, the person is literally the property of the state. The state sets the parameters of all aspects of a person’s life.

One of the best examples of why we must fight liberalism is seen in Britain right now. Britain has the kind of socialist healthcare system that Barack Obama and the Party of Treason want America to have. They have a program called “Pathways.” It is a euthanasia program. Annually, 60,000 people are put on this program. Often their families are not even told. The people are denied food and water and they die. Often it is an agonizing death.

How is this possible?

So begins an on-line comment from Jerry Scott to my letter ‘Take another look’….

Well Mr. Scott, you have fallen in line with so many others by looking at the ‘front side’ of Obamacare and stopped looking further. The fact is Mr. Scott that Obamacare is front loaded to make it palatable to those that follow blindly in Obama’s wake. (Unfortunately you are not alone).

A report from the Ways and Means committee examined the details of the IRS’s new powers and how this federal bureaucracy will scrutinize and exercise its enhanced authority over Americans. Key findings include:

IRS agents verify if you have “acceptable” health care coverage;

IRS has the authority to fine you up to $2,250 or 2 percent of your income (whichever is greater) for failure to prove that you have purchased “minimum essential coverage”;

IRS can confiscate your tax refund;


IRS will need up to $10 billion to administer the new health care program this decade;


IRS may need to hire as many as 16,500 additional auditors, agents and other employees to investigate and collect billions in new taxes from Americans; and
nearly half of all these new individual mandate taxes will be paid by Americans earning less than 300 percent of poverty ($66,150 for a family of four).

This part of Obamacare will go into effect in 2014 and does ‘nothing’ to improve the quality of health care.

Thankfully the Congress has voted and repealed Obamacare by a vote of 244 to 185. Two North Carolina Democratic congressmen, Mike McIntyre, District 7and Larry Kissell, District 8 voted with Republicans. It now moves to the Senate where it will never be brought to the floor for a vote, much less for discussion.

Harry Reid in the Senate will turn a deaf ear to the wishes of the majority of Americans and even if the Senate did pass the repeal, Obama would veto it. After all, as dictator, he has that power, which should give all Americans pause for thought.

As for Obamacare there are some good points but missing is tort reform and the purchasing of health insurance across State lines; both of which Republicans support.

A TAX on employers and employees who fail to provide or purchase health insurance and an eventual reduction to Medicare by $589. Billion dollars.

We will have a chance in November to remove from office the most totalitarian president that has ever occupied the White House. The very health and freedom of this great Nation depends on you; please look, read and research before you step into the voting booth. The future freedoms of our grand children rest in your hands; choose wisely.

Let's Apply Harry Reid's 'Dog Catcher' Standard to Barack Obama

The mainstream media has been repeating--without any criticism, context, or opposing view--Sen. Harry Reid's claim that Mitt Romney could not be confirmed by the U.S. Senate to serve in the Cabinet--or even to serve as "dog catcher"--because he has only released his most recent tax returns, not his entire tax history. The story currently leads major news websites, including National Public Radio's hourly news update. So it seems appropriate to do what the media will not: apply Reid's "dog catcher" standard to Barack Obama.

Let us first take the question of whether Barack Obama would have been confirmed by the Senate for any position, Cabinet or otherwise. If his lack of experience was not a sufficient obstacle, his past history of serious drug use--which is even worse than the admissions in his memoir, Dreams from My Father--would have barred his nomination. So, too, would his radical past, including his associations with Bill Ayers, Jeremiah Wright, Rashid Khalidi, Derrick Bell, and a host of extremists with whom he made common cause.

On the tax issue, it is worth reminding Sen. Reid (and the media) that several of President Obama's nominees for the Cabinet did, in fact, have very serious tax problems--and were confirmed anyway (though at least one, with a sense of humility lacking in her colleagues, withdrew). The most notorious is "TurboTax" Tim Geithner, who outrageously blamed a computer program for his failure to pay self-employment taxes while he was working for the International Monetary Fund. He was confirmed anyway, under considerable pressure from the mainstream media (and after an inexcusable capitulation by Senate Republicans), which painted Geithner as the only person who could possibly be qualified to run the U.S. Treasury in crisis.

Federal Budget
 

 No Budget: Tuesday, February 21, 2012 marks the 1028th day since the Senate has passed a budget under the leadership of Harry Reid (D-NV). Do not buy the spin that the Democrats passed a budget when they passed the debt ceiling deal. When we asked the RSC for a good explanation about why the debt ceiling deal was not a budget, this was their response:

• “The Budget Control Act is technically, functionally, and politically different from a budget. A budget is a ten-year document that lays out both a spending and policy direction for the country that includes spending, revenues, and economic projections—among other things. It is a message to the American people that outlines the direction that we think the country should go, and forces us to articulate and defend our choices. The only way that the Budget Control Act is all like a national budget is that it sets a top line spending figure for 2012 and 2013. But to call that a budget would be like a family sitting down at the beginning of the year and just saying, this is how much we want to spend this year, and leaving it at that. No discussion of how much money they expect to earn, where they need to make tough choices on cutting spending, or of the economic reality they expect to face”

 Payroll Deal: From Bob Williams of State Budget Solutions: “The recent payroll tax deal increases the national debt by $100 billion and is in violation of the PAYGO rules. Not only does it increase the national debt by $100 billion, but it also moves up the bankruptcy of the social security fund. Of course, Congress simply ignored the PAYGO rules. Repeatedly Speaker Boehner has caved in on principles and has been responsible for increasing the national debt. The Congressional Budget Office released a study showing than the Social Security Trust Fund had $1 billion less than expected. So rather than trying to put social security on a sound actuary basis Boehner caved in to the Democrats and once again raided the social security fund by cutting the payroll tax.”


 Rotten Highway Bill: According to Jim DeMint, the highway bill represents another example of DC politicians’ addiction to big spending. And he states, “Despite all the hyperventilating about a tea party takeover in Congress, the sad truth is that in 2011 Congress increased spending from the year before, raised the debt limit by $2 trillion, and funded ObamaCare.”

 No Solutions: Watch Treasury Secretary Timothy Geithner laugh about the fact that the President’s budget doesn’t address our out-of-control debt, and admit that they have no solutions.
 
 Obama’s Budget: The President finally released his budget today, and as expected, it would give us deeper deficits, increased spending, bigger government, and higher taxes. Key facts from his budget:

• Spends Too Much:

               $47 trillion of government spending over the next decade
               Proposes a net increase over current spending projections

• Taxes Too Much:

              $1.9 trillion in new taxes
              Raises taxes, not to pay down the debt, but to fuel more government
                spending

• Borrows Too Much:

             Four straight years of trillion-dollar-plus deficits;
                no plan to reduce the debt
             Gross debt at the end of FY22: $25.9 trillion

• Budget Gimmicks & Broken Promises

             Overstates new deficit reduction by taking credit for savings already
                enacted
             Exploits discredited budget gimmick by “not spending” nearly $1
                trillion that was never going to be spent

Illegal Immigration

• Waivermania: Kansas’ Agriculture Secretary is asking the Department of Homeland Security for a waiver so that agricultural businesses in Kansas could hire illegal immigrants. The agriculture businesses and others in the business community are supporting this effort. So far the Obama administration have handed out healthcare waivers and educational waivers. Are illegal immigrant waivers next? When waivers become the law of the land, there is no law.
• Alabama Too: The Attorney General in Alabama is trying to get the legislature to gut their new, stricter laws dealing with illegal aliens because he doesn’t want to have to go to court to fight for it. The Chamber of Commerce and the agricultural businesses are also supportive of the attempt to gut the laws.

Constitutional Issues

• New Website: Please check out a new website called the Intolerable Acts at http://www.theintolerableacts.org/. There you will find resources to fight against the unconstitutional provisions embedded within the National Defense Authorization Act (NDAA). There are a number of states that are fighting back by passing resolutions. You can find templates, etc. on the website to use with your own local and state elected officials.

• States Fighting Back: Tennessee (again!) is fighting back with legislation to help protect their residents from NDAA. North Carolina and Oklahoma are also fighting back against NDAA.
• Repeal: Ron Paul has a bill that would repeal NDAA, which would allow Congress to rewrite the funding portion of the bill without the unconstitutional portions.

• Fast and Furious: This larger-than-life scandal appears to run deep through three departments.

House of Representatives

Weekly Wrap Up – provided by the RSC

• Domestic Energy Production — Last week, the House approved H.R. 3408, Protecting Investment in Oil Shale the Next Generation of Environmental, Energy, and Resource Security (PIONEERS) Act, by a vote of 237-187. As you may have seen, the transportation bill was broken into several sections earlier in the week. The PIONEERS Act was the energy portion of the bill. The highway portion will likely be on the floor the week after recess. The following provisions in this legislation might be of interest to you:

           Keystone XL Pipeline - The legislation directs the Federal Energy Regulatory
           Commission (FERC) to, within 30 days, issue a permit for the construction for
           the Keystone XL Pipeline Project. If FERC does not issue this permit within 30
           days then the permit is deemed to have been issued.
           Oil Shale Leasing – It directs the Secretary of the Interior to conduct at least
           15 commercial lease sales for oil shale development. According to Section
           17003, each sale must consist of 25,000 acres. The legislation also codifies the
           2008 regulations by the Bureau of Land Management (BLM), and the November
           17, 2008 BLM Resource Management Plan Amendments. These both pertain to
           oil shale leasing on federal lands.
           Offshore Oil and Gas Leasing – It also directs the Secretary to conduct
           several oil and gas lease sales off the Outer Continental Shelf (OCS) in the Gulf
           of Mexico, offshore Virginia, and offshore southern California. However, oil
           and gas exploration off the coast of California must be done with existing
           offshore infrastructure or from onshore-based drilling. The legislation also
           opens for development approximately 1,350 square miles in the Eastern Gulf of
           Mexico. The Eastern Gulf is currently closed to oil and gas development.
           Further, the legislation requires the Secretary to conduct the proposed lease sale
           in the North Aleutian Basin, in the Bering Sea off the Alaskan coast. The
           legislation also establishes guidelines for revenue sharing for coastal states. Of
           revenues received by the United States, 37.5% shall be allocated to coastal
           states that are affected by the lease sale.
           Alaska Coastal Plain Oil and Gas Leasing – The legislation also repeals the
           ban on, and directs the Secretary to implement, an oil and gas leasing program
           for the Coastal Plain of the Arctic National Wildlife Refuge (ANWR). The
           Secretary is also directed to conduct oil and gas lease sales for no less than
           50,000 acres in ANWR, within 22 months of enactment. The Secretary is also
           required to lease oil and gas lease sales of an additional 50,000 acres (at a
           minimum), at 6, 12, and 18-month intervals. The Secretary is allowed to
          designate up to 45,000 acres as “special areas” that are off limits for oil and gas
          exploration. This legislation also requires that 50% of the amount of bonus, rent,
          and royalty revenues from oil and gas leases in the Coastal Plain be deposited in
          the Treasury.

• Payroll Tax Cut Deal — Friday, the House approved a Conference Report to H.R. 3630 (see attached), the Middle Class Tax Relief and Job Creation Act by a vote of 293-192. The deal reached will provide an extension of the current payroll tax rates for the remainder of calendar year 2012. In addition, it provides a fully offset delay in the implementation of the Medicare Sustainable Growth Rate (the so-called “Doc-fix”) and extends federally funded Unemployment Insurance (UI) benefits (for the tenth time since 2008) for the remainder of calendar year 2012. Many conservatives argue that extending unemployment benefits creates incentives to delay returning to work, which has a negative effect on the economy. It offsets the cost of extended UI benefits and the Doc-fix with a number of provisions to reduce the deficit, including increasing pension contributions for new federal employees, cutting some funding of Obamacare, and auctioning spectrum frequencies. Some conservatives may be concerned that the new revenues generated from these provisions, rather than being used to pay down the national debt, are instead being used for new spending. In addition, the bill reforms the federal UI benefit structure by lowering the maximum number of weeks of UI eligibility and allowing states to require drug testing and job training. (NOTE: RSC Chairman Jordan voted against the conference report.)

            According to CBO, the Conference Report increases the deficit by $101.1
            billion in fiscal year 2012, and $89.3 billion over the 2012-2022 period. The bill
            reduces revenues by $77.6 billion over the 2012-2022 period and increases
            spending by $11.7 billion over the same period, according to CBO’s and
            JCT’s estimates. H.R. 3630 was approved in the House on December 13, 2011
            by a vote of 234–193. Currently these programs are operating under a
            two-month extension (H.R. 3765) set to expire on February 29, 2012.

The Week Ahead

Allen West to Obama, Reid, Pelosi: ‘Get the Hell Out of the United States of America’

Rep. Allen West (R-Fla.) had a strong message Saturday for President Barack Obama, Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid, House Minority Leader Nancy Pelosi and Democratic National Committee Chairwoman Debbie Wasserman Schultz: “Get the hell out.”


West made the comments during a speech at a Palm Beach County GOP event in West Palm Beach.

“This is a battlefield that we must stand upon. And we need to let President Obama, Harry Reid, Nancy Pelosi and my dear friend, chairman of the Democrat National Committee, we need to let them know that Florida ain’t on the table,” West said.

Six GOP Senators have stood up to defend free speech by opposing the Protect IP Act. The six, Senators Grassley, Hatch, Cornyn, Sessions, Coburn, and Lee, called on Senator Harry Reid to drop his efforts to push the bill through the Senate.

Federal Budget & Spending

 Today is the 951st day since the Senate has passed a budget under the leadership of Harry Reid (D-NV).
 Federal spending has increased 5% in the first nine months of this year alone, contrary to claims that Congress or the President has cut spending.

 Senate Democrats are trying to roll a payroll tax break extension into an increased tax rate for wealthier Americans, known as a ”millionaire surtax.” Republicans have now released their payroll proposal. Read about it here. What do you think?
 Eric Cantor is working to rescind the automatic cuts to defense that are scheduled as a result of the so-called “Super Committee” failing to agree on a deal. He’s offering House Democrats a deal that would pass their payroll tax break extension, an extension of jobless benefits, other spending measures that Democrats want, and a Medicare reimbursement rate for physicians in exchange for fewer cuts to defense.
 Obama and the Democrats are upping the ante with their class warfare rhetoric. Watch out for this and think about how you can go on the offensive against this divisive and dangerous strategy.

 The REINS Act, a bill that seeks to restrain the overreach and unbearable cost of regulatory adventurism, is the result of one Tea Party Patriot who decided to do something. Read about this tea party victory here.
 REINS Act — This week the House will consider H.R. 10, the Regulations from the Executive in Need of Scrutiny (REINS) Act—offered by RSC Member Rep. Geoff Davis (KY). The bill would restore Congressional accountability for the regulatory process, requiring Congress to take an up-or-down, stand-alone vote, and for the president to sign off on all new major rules—those with an annual economic impact of $100 million or more—before they can be enforced on the American people, businesses, or state and local governments.
 The Republicans in the House have passed 25 bills to help job creators start creating jobs. All 25 of these bills are stuck in the Senate, left there to die by Harry Reid.

 GET READY FOR DEATH PANELS. Read about what this caller told Mark Levin. The basis of this is that government is going to be writing strict policies that do not take into account each individual. When government has to create universal policies for the entire country, there will be a lot of dehumanizing effects. This is the exact same thing that England has done since the 1940's to save on costs since it is a government-run system.

 Obamacare incentivizes employers to shove sicker employees off of private insurance and into the taxpayer subsidized exchanges. Make sure to frequently check out the Galen Institute for great up-to-date information about Obamacare.

 An Obamacare “bomb” exploded on December 2 when the HHS rule went into effect that requires private insurance companies to spend “80% of the consumers’ premium dollars they collect — 85% for large group insurers — on actual medical care rather than overhead, marketing expenses and profit.” Private insurers will not be able to sustain this sort of business model and will implode under this ruling. So while Obama may have removed the “public option” from the final legislation, this was his backdoor method of destroying private health care.

House of Representatives

 Workforce Democracy and Fairness Act — Last week, the House approved H.R. 3094, the Workforce Democracy and Fairness Act, by a vote of 235-188, pushing back on yet another overreach of Big Labor and the Obama Administration.
 Eliminating Taxpayer Financing of Presidential Elections and the Election Assistance Commission — Also last week, the House passed H.R. 3463 by a vote of 235-190. The bill eliminates the Presidential Election Campaign Fund (PECF), terminates public financing of presidential campaigns, and returns PECF funds to the general treasury for deficit reduction.
 Regulatory Flexibility — Also last week, the House approved H.R. 527, the Regulatory Flexibility Improvements Act, by a vote of 263-159. This bill closes loopholes that agencies are exploiting to avoid the requirement that they analyze the effect new regulations would have on small businesses.
 Regulatory Accountability — Again, last week, the House passed H.R. 3010, the Regulatory Accountability Act, by a vote of 253-167. The bill defines “major rule,” “high-impact rule,” “guidance,” and “major guidance” to broaden the definitions of rules that will be impacted by the bill.
 Farm Dust — This week, the House will consider H.R. 1633, The Farm Dust Regulation Prevention Act—offered by RSC Member Rep. Kristi Noem (SD). The bill would prohibit the Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) from issuing any new National Ambient Air Quality Standards for coarse particulate matter (aka dust) for at least one year from the date of enactment of the legislation.

 FROM THE RSC: With two weeks of session left before Congress adjourns for the year, a number of items remain outstanding. Some of the items you may be interested in include:

o A “megabus” spending bill will likely be on the floor the week of the December 12, reportedly containing the nine remaining un-passed spending bills. Many conservatives believe that we should not spend more than the House-passed budget level and that any spending package should at least include policy provisions that protect life, defund Obamacare, and remove barriers to economic growth.
o It is also likely that a package that includes an unemployment benefits extension and a payroll tax cut extension will be on the floor that week.
o We may also consider an extension package of expiring tax provisions (AMT patch, expiring credits/deductions, etc.) and the “Doc Fix” (which adjusts the way that physicians are reimbursed under Medicare). If not considered in 2011, any package considered in 2012 would likely be retroactive.

Senate

 The Senate has votes planned on five judgeship nominees. The schedule for the remainder of the week is less clear, as senior lawmakers work behind the scenes to reach agreement on year-end spending and revenue measures.

Special News

 After the Richmond Tea Party called attention to the unequal treatment perpetrated by the Mayor of Richmond, in terms of charging the tea party for their events while forcing taxpayers to pay for Occupy Richmond’s events, the city is now auditing the tea party group. Retribution and intimidation, also known as “hope and change.”

House of Representatives

 The big item this week in the House is the bill (HR 3049) that would counter a proposed rule by the National Labor Relations Board (NLRB) that seeks to rush union elections through, thereby disallowing employers enough time to make their case to employees. The NLRB is yet another executive agency overstepping their bounds and a bill to reel them back in is long overdue.

Senate

 Most of the time this week will be spent on judicial confirmations and the DOD Authorization bill. Within the DOD bill is a provision that has been making the email rounds today. The provision supposedly says that American citizens, on American soil, can be picked up by the military for alleged crimes in the name of homeland security. One of our state coordinators heard from Marco Rubio’s office that said that this is not true, but that he is also offering an amendment to ensure that this could never happen. Hmmmm… we aren’t sure what the exact truth is yet so we encourage everyone to see what you can find out from your Senators (if you trust them) or from other trusted sources, and let us know what you find out/think.
 Harry Reid also wants to use a vote on the payroll tax cut extension, combined with

increased taxes on higher earners, to pin Republicans down on taxes in preparation for the elections next year. Because the Republicans will oppose the bill due to it’s increased taxes, Reid is hoping to be able to say that the Republicans want to raise taxes on middle class families while protecting "millionaires and billionaires." KEY POINT: many small business owners file their tax returns as individuals rather than corporations so they would be hit hard by any increase in taxes on "higher earners." So while Reid claims to want to protect small business owners, the reality is that they would suffer.

CQ ROLL CALL HIGHLIGHTS: Daily Briefing--November 16, 2011

Today In Washington

THE HOUSE: Convened at 10, will begin legislating at noon and will be done for the day by 7. There will be a nearly unanimous vote to clear legislation combining a pair of new tax credits for hiring veterans (a sliver of the Obama jobs package) with the repeal of a 3 percent tax withholding from government contracts (a sliver of the GOP jobs agenda). But the debate will be much more contentious on the first pro-gun bill advanced by the Republicans since they took control this year. It would allow people with concealed weapon permits in their home state the right to carry a concealed gun in other states.

THE SENATE: Convened at 10 and is debating what seems on the surface like a relatively non-controversial $33 billion spending bill for the Energy Department and the Army Corps of Engineers. (Reid’s effort to combine it with two other fiscal 2012 appropriations measures fell apart yesterday in a welter of objections about its spending totals and language allowing American banks to do business in Cuba.)

Reid signaled that, if the energy and water debate bogs down, he was ready to quickly drop the bill and turn instead to the defense authorization measure updated by Armed Services yesterday. He also issued a vague exhortation for senators and their aides to keep their Thanksgiving week travel plans flexible — especially if anyone makes parliamentary trouble for the military policy bill.
THE WHITE HOUSE: Obama is sound asleep in Canberra, where it’s almost 4 on Thursday morning. He’ll spend his second day in Australia addressing Parliament and traveling to a military base in Darwin. The remote northern coastal town is where 2,500 Marines will be stationed permanently under an agreement the president and Prime Minister Julia Gerard announced yesterday — much to the consternation of the Chinese government, which doesn’t appreciate the U.S. effort to become a military counterweight to China in the Pacific Rim.

BASIC MATH: The sum of today’s supercommittee tea leaves is that there’s just enough hope for a deal left that Reid and Boehner are willing to enter the fray — although maybe only long enough to conclude that the two sides cannot be bridged, and certainly not in the time available. While the formal legislative language has to be done by Monday and the committee doesn’t have to vote until a week from today, a general consensus has emerged that there needs to be a handshake by the day after tomorrow (maybe push-able until Saturday) for the paperwork and the budgetary scorekeeping to get done in time.

Pushed hard by John Kerry — who sees this budget deal as his legacy-maker — Democrats are now willing to drop their revenue number to $800 billion (from $1 trillion) in a final attempt to get to a deal. But in return, they’re going to insist that entitlement curbs over the next decade be held to that new, lower number as well. And the Republicans are showing every sign they’re going to spurn that offer. Not only do they want to extract more from Medicare and Medicaid, but much more importantly, they also are already so far outside their own comfort zone with their stated willingness to go for as much as $300 billion in new revenues.
Co-Chairman Jeb Hensarling signaled as much last night when he said of his side, “We have gone as far as we feel we can go” on taxes. That was an acknowledgment of the reality that — even with Pat Toomey, the small-government advocate turned senator, putting his name atop the tax plan, the leadership would be hard-pressed to corral enough members of the GOP rank and file to push such a deal to enactment.

The flurry of top leadership meetings last night could also be a signal that the supercommittee has revealed that it has essentially abandoned hope of reaching a $1.2 trillion deal, and that the two parties’ members are looking for guidance from the top Hill brass about whether they should walk away altogether — or roll out a bill worth less than that amount (the current best guess is they have agreement on about $600 billion in savings) that largely avoids addressing taxes and entitlements. The supercommittee is allowed to create a proposal that cuts just a few hundred billion dollars — and then the difference between that figure and $1.2 trillion would be the size of the across-the-board defense and civilian spending cuts. And shrinking the size of that sequester would at least be a way to tamp down talk that the self-imposed punishment should be skirted altogether.
EPARTURES AND ARRIVALS: Minibus No. 2 is permanently on blocks, and even the vestige that remains before the Senate — the Energy-Water bill — may be abandoned in the next 24 hours. (Reid really, really wants the bill to pass because it would put the Senate on record against any funding for the nuclear waste storage center under Nevada’s Yucca Mountain, but he may be forced to relent in the face of a wave of GOP amendments designed to stoke the Solyndra controversy.)designed to stoke the Solyndra controversy.)

What it means: Appropriators will be spending the next month doing what they’ve been fighting against — but what’s been expected of them — all year: Assembling a behemoth appropriations package to handle the great majority of discretionary appropriations for the nine months of fiscal 2012 that remain. The must-pass, and generally bipartisan, Pentagon spending bill will be the vehicle that carries all the other measures.

That scenario assumes enactment by this weekend of Minibus No. 1, the three-bill domestic spending package that also keeps the rest of the government running until Dec. 16. That’s going to happen, but not without some sweating among the House Republican whips, who are now working hard to hold the number of GOP defections to no more than 40. (That number of “no” votes would mean 20 Democrats would have to vote “yes” to assure passage.) Their challenge is being made significantly more difficult now that two prominent conservative groups, the Club for Growth and Heritage Action, have come out against the bill — by putting it on their “key vote” lawmaker-approval scorecards — because in their view it doesn’t cut spending enough (less than 1 percent overall for the programs covered) and would increase the maximum size of home loans that can receive FHA guarantees.

My apologies for taking so long to refute the many statements made by Kenneth W. Humphrey - Chairman Carteret County Democrat Party, but I was dazzled at the inaccurate and false statements he made throughout the letter. So I will start at the top. Kenneth W. Humphrey - Chairman Carteret County Democrat Party - has stated that “conservative moderates” were drawing analogies between President “where is my teleprompter” Obama and the great communicator President Ronald Reagan. I have not heard any “conservative moderates” make any such statements. I did hear some liberal commentators trying to compare Obama to President Ronald Reagan. This surprised me because these same people had always declared their hate for President Ronald Reagan. And Kenneth W. Humphrey - Chairman Carteret County Democrat Party, for your general information a moderate is not a conservative. As for conservatives, they have compared the two and Obama is shown to be a selfish little child next President Ronald Reagan. Obama can’t give a 2 minute speech without his teleprompter and speeches written by others. President Ronald Reagan would give an outline of what he wanted to say to speech writers and they would give a speech to him to review. He would then correct and rewrite it so it was his speech, not something created for him by a back room hack. Many times he sat at his desk and wrote it out longhand. President Obama always talks about how great it is to have the government in charge of your life and how only the government should be allowed to decide how you will live, if you are allowed to live. He will say that in speeches given in the united States. In speeches delivered outside the country, it is a different story. He will talk about how evil the United States is and he will apologize for us being a free and capitalist nation. President Ronald Reagan gave speeches on how great this nation is because of the strength of the American citizen and NOT because of the strength of government. He knew that it was citizens with a dream that built this nation to greatness, not the government. He believed in this country and its people.

As for the shooting of Representative Gabrielle Giffords, all the proof that has been presented is that the “alleged” shooter was a politically left leaning nut case, known to be a nut case and the sheriff in that country (a democrat) failed to do his job by putting the shooter on the list to prevent his buying a firearm. They allow that in Arizona! In Arizona law enforcement can put a person on a list to prevent a non-felon with behavior problems that may become a threat from buying a firearm. So the sheriff failed to do his job and you point a finger at the NRA? How does that work? And by the way Representative Gabrielle Giffords is a NRA member and a gun owner.

As a member of the local TEA Party group I must point out that I am NOT a Republican. We, the TEA Party, have given notice to the Republican party that we will NOT be co-opted. We may agree on some things, but we are tired of the normal DC politics in all the parties. So I don’t know where you get the statement “GOP - TEA Party prattle”, unless you are just against the Constitution of the United States of America. That is what we in the TEA Party are working for. To bad the DNC can’t say the same.

The health care bill may have some changes in it, but it will not be revoked as long as Senator Reid, President Obama and other socialist leaning people are in power. They are working as hard as they can to form a socialist economy in this country and destroy the capitalist economy we have now that allows an individual to dream and work to make that dream come true. So we can just keep working to put an end to the government intrusion into our health care and the dictatorial control over the medical professionals. You want to reduce health care cost? Get the government out of it!

Medicare will stay. There will be changes and improvements. No conservative is going to abandon people to die in the street. Conservatives believe in life. We are the ones against murdering the unborn babies. It is the democrats and other liberals that want to kill the children even before they have had a chance to breath. What greater hatred for life can there be then to kill the unborn baby?

Will Social Security stay? For a while yet. I personally want it phased out. It would take a few decades, but we should start looking at ending it as a retirement service. Those already on Social Security would stay. It is to late to do anything else for them, but why should a person 20 or 25 be forced to take part in a ponzi scam? If you feel the government should be involved in forcing someone to put back their own money for their retirement, then let the individual decide how that money is saved and secured. It is their money and their future. If they want to buy stocks or mutual funds or just put it in a bank account that should be their decision. I can’t find out where the Government has the right to put a gun to my head and say “give us your money to give to someone else and maybe we will give you someone else’s money when you get old”. If you put the money in a bank or in stocks then you decide who gets it when you die, not the government. My money should be private. YOU did not earn my money and I did not earn yours. Yes Social Security should be phased out. It is nothing but a FDR socialist controlled operation to have the government control your life as you get older.


The democrats, throughout history, did not get the “big things” right. They fought against Civil Rights. In case you have forgotten, Rev. Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. was a REPUBLICAN as was his father. It was the Republicans that fought against slavery. The Democrats supported it. It was the Democrats that started the KKK. The Republicans fought against them. It was a democrat president that segregated the US military. It was the NC Democratic party that sectioned the white riot in Wilmington, NC (the Wilmington Race Riot of 1898) and passed the “Jim Crow” laws in NC. So much for democrats caring about racial equality. As for the Medicare and Medicaid and their bloated programs, I don’t think I would be doing much bragging. The massive amount of paperwork and people developed to support these programs should be an embarrassment to anyone involved. The doctors and hospitals say “this will cost $X” to save a live or improve the quality of a person’s life, but the government bean counters say “we will only pay you half $X”, so who is putting a price on a person’s life here? If the doctor or hospital say “we can not do it for that amount” (not will not, but cannot) the bean counters say “we are not paying any more”. So the doctor or hospital will work to save the life, but the doctor or hospital is no longer free. Being forced to work for what the government dictates has turned them, doctors and hospitals, into serfs or servants without the right to sell their skills on the open market. And the democrats want more of this bloated actions and government control with their “health care program”.

I cannot believe that anyone, including Mr. Kenneth W. Humphrey - Chairman Carteret County Democrat Party, would have anything to say about the new Speaker of the House after the dictatorial action of the possible psychotic, botox addicted, crazy eyed, shrilled voice, pro-socialist, pro-Marxist, anti American and anti-capitalist Nancy Pelosi. If she and Sen. Harry Reid had their way we would have a socialist economy controlled by the unions with a Marxist government and under the thumb of the UN.

Kenneth W. Humphrey’s (Chairman Carteret County Democrat Party) attack on the relationship between the conservatives in this country and President Ronald Reagan is at best ludicrous. Did President Ronald Reagan do things that the “far right” conservatives didn’t like? I am sure there were some things. Like when he tried to work with the democrats and they kept trying to force their extreme leftist agenda, but they never doubted his love for this country. President Obama’s love towards this country has been doubted from the very start. The deficit President Ronald Reagan had to run up was partly to repair the military the democrat Jimmy Carter had worked so hard to destroy. Were we a stronger country when Jimmy carter left office? NO. Were we a stronger nation when President Ronald Reagan left office? YES!

Bill Maher? Why would anyone bring a leftist comic that has falling ratings into any rational conversation? Why would anyone care what he has to say? And considering Mr. Maher has stated his hate for the Bible and Christians and President Ronald Reagan we can expect nothing worthwhile from him. Mr. Kenneth W. Humphrey - Chairman Carteret County Democrat Party I would think real hard before I used his name, Bill Maher, in any more letters or conversations unless you are trying to sway someone away from God the Almighty, Jesus and the Constitution of the United states of America. And it is not just Christians, Bill Maher hates all religions.

If you want to discuss the stock market, please remember that it was going up the last 6 months when President George H. W. Bush was running for office, but the democrats and liberal media lied and claimed the recession that followed the Gulf War was still going on. To the best of my knowledge there is always a recession following a large military action. This one was very short and the economy was raising. BUT it was falling the last 8 months that Clinton was in office and the democrats claimed it was good and going up. How does that figure? It was not Clinton’s fault, it was just the dot-com bubble busting. As for the last 6 months GWB was in office, the democrats had been in control of Congress for 18 months before that and President George W. Bush had tried many times to get them to do something about the Freddie Mac and Fannie Mea problems, but they had refused. So when the housing market went south and it hit the stock exchange due to the use of bundled sub-prime mortgages the banks were FORCED by the democrats in congress to give out, the economy dropped. I am no fan of President George W. Bush but he did warn them what was going to happen and asked for the changes to be made, but they turned their back on him. Then they tried to blame President George W. Bush for their failures to take corrective action. The “power dive” that Mr. Kenneth W. Humphrey - Chairman Carteret County Democrat Party refers to was increased by the actions of the unqualified, America hating, pro-socialist, Marxist trained, self important, arrogant, tool of the left that was elected president, President Barrack Hessian Obama and his admitted communist advisors.

I could go on and on, but let me just point out a few things quickly. Michelle Bachmann is NOT the leader of the TEA party. She is a member of a congressional caucus. BIG difference. Gov. Sarah Palin is NOT the leader of the Republican Party. She is one voice among many that is calling out for change. Yes, she is very visible. Maybe that is because the people like what they hear and believe what she says.


President Barrack Hessian Obama has NO leadership ability. I don’t think he has the ability to lead a group of people out of a burning building with the doors open and the lights on unless a teleprompter told him the way! So I will end this by saying that every time I see him standing there with his chin pointing at the sky and his arrogant nose in the air I think of the photos I have seen in history books of Mussolini and how he, Mussolini, was also a big fan of government control and socialist economies.

Have You Done All You Can Do for Senate Repeal Amendment Yet?

The Senate still has not voted on the Repeal Amendment. Sen. Reid has put up a procedural hurdle that will require the Repeal Amendment to have 60 votes to be attached to the Federal Aviation bill (S 223).

February 2, 2011--Vote is expected around 5-6:00 pm!

HAVE YOU DONE ALL YOU CAN TO INFLUENCE THE SENATE? The time is now to put more pressure on the Senate. We need to know which Senators are willing to vote in favor of the will of the people. We need to know which Senators are willing to stand with the Ruling Elite to prevent the repeal of government controlled health care.

Today we are witnessing a hunkered down, ruling elite minority in the Senate, using procedural "tricks" to prevent the repeal of Obamacare from coming to a vote in the Senate. The American public has consistently expressed its majority opinion in opposition to Obamacare, both before and subsequent to its passage. In November 2010, the American public clearly expressed its opinion in elections in which the President and his party, by his own words, took a "shellacking." That shellacking, in large measure was due to a rejection of Obamacare and the expansive and intrusive approach to government which it represented. Fulfilling a campaign promise, the House of Representatives repealed Obamacare by an overwhelming margin (far more than by the narrow margin by which it originally passed). Two federal courts have ruled that the individual mandate of Obamacare is unconstitutional. Preventing such a vote, and preventing the people from knowing where their own Senators stand on the issue is dishonest, and frankly looks like tyranny to us.

Harry Reid, and the rest of the ruling elite in the Senate are acting like colonial governors prior the Revolutionary War; doing the bidding of King Obama while ignoring the will of the American people. It is time for those governors to respect the will of the American people, and the wisdom of the courts. Thanks to the genius of the Founding Fathers, if they do not do so they will be removed from power; not by a violent revolution, but by the continuation of a peaceful electoral revolution which began in 2010.

Tea Party Calls on Senate to Follow Suit

New Bern, NC - Today, the Tea Party Patriots applauded the vote by the House to repeal the Patient Protection and Affordable Health Care Act, also known as ObamaCare.

"During the 111th Congress politicians who consider themselves the 'ruling elite' passed a job killing, tax raising, liberty stealing bill which they called 'health care reform,'" said Jenny Beth Martin, National Coordinator of Tea Party Patriots. "This was done against the clearly expressed will of the majority of the American people, and they voted to remove their unresponsive representatives in November. Following through today, the House of Representatives lived up to its duties as the people's house and voted to repeal the disaster foisted on the American people.

"Now the question is: Will the Senate resolve to listen to will of the American people? Many have said that Majority Leader Reid will not allow the bill to even be debated, let alone come to a vote in the Senate. What is he scared of? Is he unwilling to allow each Senator to stand up and be counted? The American people have stood and been counted on this issue, and repudiated this law. It is time for the Senate to openly and transparently debate repeal so the majority of Americans can know where they stand."
