The Tea Party is Both Sensible and Victorious

GREAT ARTICLE WELL WORTH THE READ!

by KEITH KOFFLER on OCTOBER 16, 2013

I realize that sounds quite delusional to many people, particularly here in Washington. But it makes total, absolute sense.

The muttering class Inside the Beltway is very pleased with itself: The doomed Tea Party strategy is foundering on the shoals of idiocy, just like they said it would. The Republican “brand” has been downgraded yet again. America is looks foolish abroad: “The world has reacted mostly with disbelief that a superpower could fall into such dysfunction,” wrote the New York Times today. Reasonable people will soon be back in charge so they can do reasonable things in a reasonable way without all these Tea Party lunatics stirring up trouble.

Let me tell all of you something:

THIS COUNTRY IS ALREADY IN A STATE OF TOTAL DYSFUNCTION, AND HAS BEEN FOR YEARS.

A state of dysfunction, mind you, brought to you by the “reasonable” people who have been striking deals for years that have created $17 trillion in debt and a possibly irreversible degree of Socialism that is lobotomizing our tradition of independent thinking and creativity, crippling free enterprise, and carving the soul out of the moral, God-fearing ethic that has made this nation the greatest on earth.

Million Muslim March Planned in DC on Anniversary of 9-11

A group called The American Muslim Political Action Committee (AMPAC) is planning a one million Muslims march to Washington D.C. on September 11th. The timing of the group's march is seen by many as tasteless (to say the least) considering it is scheduled for the anniversary of the worst domestic massacre in American history perpetrated in the name of Islam. AMPAC ups the tasteless quotient by issuing "demands" for the American government:

We at AMPAC (American Political Action Committee) are planning an historic event for 9.11.13 where one million Muslims will march to Washington D.C. and demand that our civil rights be protected by our government.
We are demanding that laws be enacted protecting our 1st amendment . We are asking President Obama to fulfill his promise from his first campaign for Presidency of a transparent government. Lastly we are asking for the release of the 9/11 commission report to the American people.
The group seems to rationalize the date chosen for their march by claiming that the media has been lying to the American people with regard to the role Islam played in the 9/11 attacks:
On 9.11.01 our country was forever changed by the horrific events in New York. The entire country was victimized by the acts done on that day. Muslim and Non Muslim alike were traumatized but we as Muslims continue 12 years later to be victimized by being made the villains. To this day every media outlet and anti Islamic organization has committed slanderous and libel statements against us as Muslims and our religion of Islam.

Million Muslim March

Million Muslim March On DC Set For 9/11/2013

First, let me start by saying that I am not trying to scare anyone and that I’m not asking anyone to think like me. But I am asking people to think. I have many friends in the military who are keeping me up to date on the UN forces that are amassing here in OUR Republic.

The “Million Muslim March” on DC, set for 9/11/2013, is when I expect “things to get out of control.” And this POTUS may try to take advantage of the situation (and by “executive order” begin Martial Law.)With the MASSIVE buildup of UN Forces added to the Islamic Jihad Terrorists already positioned in this country, I believe something may happen; and we better be prepared.

Obama knows we’re all on to him, and he’s being backed into a corner with all of these scandals surrounding him. So what better way to stir up trouble than to have his Muslim brothers amass in DC.? No doubt they’ll have some instigators stir something up. Karl Marx said that “The masses are too stupid and ignorant to understand how good communism will be for them, so they need to be forced down that path, by any and all means possible. Lie, deceive, create class and race warfare issues, and use catastrophes (and if there are none, make some up; the ends justify the means)” Lets face it: Obama wants to be king, and what better way to begin Martial Law than to have his Terrorist Brothers cause problems?

Islamic jihad terrorists are well positioned here and have been for quite a while. Of the world’s 1.9 billion claimed by Islamic leaders, there are an estimated 7-10 million Muslims in the U.S. That is up from 5 million estimated 10 years ago. I believe the 7-10 million is a low-ball figure. No one knows for sure because our Census laws do not allow us to ask about religious affiliation.

TPN—David DeGerolamo: Stand Up for Your Convictions - No Matter How You Are Labeled

If ever the Time should come, when vain & aspiring Men shall possess the highest Seats in Government, our Country will stand in Need of its experienced Patriots to prevent its Ruin. ~Samuel Adams.

The above premise accurately describes the government in Washington, DC. Power and greed have replaced honor and duty. Do we have experienced Patriots to prevent our ruin? Who would you classify as a statesman on the level of Patrick Henry or Thomas Paine? Who would you follow into harm's way in your own town or community to secure your children's freedom?

Like the thief in the night, our politicians have eroded our freedom by enslaving us in debt that can never be repaid. Half of "We the People" receive a government check for assistance and the "public sector" has become the engine for tyranny through excessive taxation, fear and regulation. The solution will not be found in the next election: the solution is an awakening in the people.

The final change in government has already happened. The 2008 election of Obama in conjunction with a Democrat controlled Congress through 2010 overthrew the last vestiges of our founding principles. The 2010 elections which resulted in a Republican majority in the House did little more than slow the march to Socialism:

1.We still have no budget
2.We still have national health care
3.Unemployment is still over 9% (another example of the government's lack of respect for the people by manipulating information)
4.Our debt ceiling raises were ceded to the executive branch by John Boehner in August
5.The NDAA destroyed the fabric of the Bill of Rights with the "blessings" of both parties
6.The president used the State of the Union to outline his vision for dictatorial powers in order to "streamline" government

CQ Roll Call Daily Briefing: On the Brink of Brinkmanship

Wednesday, December 14, 2011

Today In Washington

THE SENATE: Convened at 9:30 and is now rejecting two versions of a balanced-budget amendment to the Constitution — a foregone conclusion ever since the votes were promised as part of the summer debt limit deal. Reid and McConnell are now working behind the scenes (while overtly furious at each other) on the next step in the year-ending tax extenders debate.

A party-line vote was expected to rebuff the Republican proposal, which was to cap spending at 18 percent of gross domestic product, require a two-thirds majority to increase taxes and dictate that spending not exceed revenue in each fiscal year unless supermajorities in Congress voted for deficits during war or other emergencies. The vote a few minutes ago was 21-79 against the Democratic alternative, which had no spending caps or special rules for tax bills (except that cuts for millionaires could only be allowed during times of surplus) and would shield the Social Security trust fund from being tapped to balance the books.

THE HOUSE: Convened at 10 and is expected to be dismissed before 5, after adopting the $662 billion defense authorization conference agreement and voting on as many as 10 bills under the suspension of the rules process.

THE WHITE HOUSE: Obama is arriving for a 90-minute visit to Fort Bragg, his first as president. At noon he and the first lady will deliver speeches thanking the troops and their families for their sacrifices during the Iraq War and promising that the administration remains committed to providing veterans robust benefits and help securing jobs. (The North Carolina fort — home to the Special Operations command, the 18th Airborne Corps and the 82nd Airborne, among others — says more than 200 soldiers who died in Iraq left from there.)

Obama is due back in the Oval Office by 2, and at 5 he’s headed a few blocks away to the St. Regis Hotel for another re-election fundraiser.

ANOTHER STANDOFF:  Shutdown brinkmanship is back. There’s even a decent shot that the two sides will dig in long enough that the current stopgap spending law will be permitted to expire 60 hours from now, which would mean a mad weekend scramble to get something to replace it before the bulk of the federal government reopens for business next Monday — either a very, very short CR or the comprehensive $1 trillion appropriations package that’s essentially written up and ready to go.

The standoff intensified in the Senate this morning, when Reid proposed holding the next symbolic test vote tonight — the one in which the Democratic majority will formally spurn the payroll tax, jobless benefit, “doc fix” and AMT “patch” package pushed through the Republican House yesterday, because it also would speed along construction of the Keystone oil pipeline. McConnell objected, insisting that he’d use all his parliamentary powers to make sure the appropriations “megabus” is done first.

Republicans clearly see a way to seize back the year-end momentum on this front from Obama and the Senate Democrats, who have been holding the better hand for weeks on the question of continuing a tax cut for 160 million people. But now, the Democrats think their opponents have badly overplayed that hand by holding up final action on the spending bill until the GOP relents (or at least comes to the final bargaining table) on the tax package. And that, the Republicans say, makes Democrats vulnerable to the same criticism they have been using against the GOP all year: They’re willing to hold the government hostage, and cause genuine problems for millions of people, until they get what they want.

The longer the megabus package is allowed to sit on the shelf, the more it risks being picked apart around the edges — and it could well fall apart altogether if the votes aren’t called soon. Officially, the text is not out because no Senate Democrats have been allowed to sign on the dotted line at the bottom, but everyone knows it’s a done deal (despite what Reid insists) and more and more people are aware of the thousands of line-item details every hour. If the old legislative adage is that a compromise, like an unrefrigerated fish, starts to rot after three days, then this is Day Two.

AGAINST THE GRAIN: The 10 House Democrats who voted for the extenders bill last night bill were Barrow, Boren, Boswell, Braley, Cardoza, Donnelly, Loebsack, Matheson, Ross and Walz. The 14 Republicans who voted “no” were Amash, Barton, Brooks, Campbell, Flake, Fortenberry, Garrett, Tim Johnson, Lummis, McClintock, McKinley, Neugebauer, Wolf and Woodall.

SAVE THE DATE: Obama will deliver his next State of the Union address the evening of Tuesday, Jan. 24 — one day after the Senate returns from the coming break, and one week after the House reconvenes to start the second session of the 112th Congress.

DOWN IN THE POLL: Only 22 percent say the nation is headed in the right direction, according to the NBC-Wall Street Journal poll out today, while 42 percent say the performance of the current Congress is “one of the worst” ever —the highest number ever recorded on a question that’s been asked since 1990. Obama’s job-approval rating is at 46 percent, 2 points better than a month ago.

The poll’s numbers in the GOP presidential race, meanwhile, show Newt Gingrich leading Mitt Romney by 17 points among Republican voters nationwide — and by 23 points if all the other candidates are excluded. The reason seems clear: Only 29 percent view Romney as “conservative,” while 59 percent give Gingrich that label. But when the surveyors asked about general election matchups, they found Obama defeating the former Speaker by 11 points among all registered voters but in a statistical tie with the former Massachusetts governor. That apparent electability gap is what has so many Republican congressional strategists worried: They fret that Gingrich at the top of the could do the party serious damage in close races for the House and Senate, particularly in the Northeast.

RUNNER-UP:  House Budget Chairman Paul Ryan was named “the most influential American politician” of 2011 and the third runner-up for Time magazine’s “Person of the Year” recognition today. (Kate Middleton was fourth runner-up.) “Through a combination of hard work, good timing and possibly suicidal guts, the Wisconsin Republican managed to harness his party to a dramatic plan for dealing with America’s rapidly rising public debt,” the magazine said. “He brought an ugly issue out of the foggy realm of think tanks and blue-ribbon panels and dropped it into the middle of the national debate in time to define the next presidential election.”

Finishing higher up in the editor’s balloting were Chinese dissident artist Ai Weiwei; William McRaven, the admiral who ran the SEAL operation that killed Osama bin Laden; and the face on the cover: “The Protester,” honoring the people from Tahrir Square to Zuccotti Park “for capturing and highlighting a global sense of restless promise, for upending governments and conventional wisdom, for combining the oldest of techniques with the newest of technologies to shine a light on human dignity and, finally, for steering the planet on a more democratic though sometimes more dangerous path.”

TRAIL TIPS:
(1) Steny Hoyer may not ever be Speaker, his unambiguous ambition of the past 30 years, but the minority whip insists he wants to stick around for at least one more term (which would be his 16th) representing southern Maryland. He turns 73 next June, and speculation that he would retire surged yesterday for two reasons: His longtime top aide, Terry Lierman, announced he was leaving the Hill to start a health care venture capital firm. (The new chief of staff will be Alexis Covey-Brandt, who now runs Hoyer’s floor operation and has been with Hoyer for eight years.) And state House GOP leader Anthony O’Donnell revealed he was ready to give up his legislative seat after 18 years to run for Hoyer’s seat, even though the state’s redistricting may make the 5th District no more inclined to go Republican. Hoyer told reporters he is firmly committed to seeking re-election.

(2) The 18 new congressional districts for Pennsylvania were unveiled last night by the Republicans who run Harrisburg, and it’s no surprise that the mapmakers went to great lengths to shore up the prospects for GOP congressmen in politically competitive territory. (Also no surprise, the legislators took care of the one House seat the state lost in reapportionment mainly by combining the exurban Pittsburgh districts currently held by Democrats Jason Altmire and Mark Critz, but in a way that gives each a fair shot at beating the other in a primary — and then gives GOP state Rep. Jim Christiana a solid shot in the fall.) On the other side of the state, the map was significantly reconfigured to make political life more comfortable for Patrick Meehan, Jim Gerlach, Charlie Dent, Tom Marino and — most of all — freshman Lou Barletta, who saw his territory changed from mostly Democratic to GOP-leaning. The biggest Democratic beneficiary is Tim Holden, whose seat was made safer by dispersing much of his GOP precinct to nearby Republican incumbents. Under the new map, Democrats will probably view the seats held by Republicans Mike Fitzpatrick and Mike Kelly as their most plausible pickup opportunities.

TEA PARTY PATRIOTS ALERT: Deal in the District--ALERT--November 17, 2011, 12pm Local Time

URGENT!  This Thursday, thousands of Tea Party Patriots from across the nation will visit their Representatives’ local offices to tell them…

No more gimmicks. No more lies. Make REAL CUTS and prioritize.

Here are the details. (Click here for more information)

•Date: Thursday, November 17, 2011.
•Time: 12:00 p.m. to 1:00 p.m. (in your local time zone).

Note: Please visit the office at any time on Thursday if you can’t go at noon.

•Location: Your local Representative’s office. (Click here to find yours)

Action steps.

1.RSVP here.
2.Send this Deal in the District page to your members, friends, neighbors, family, etc.
3.Learn about what REAL CUTS look like here, before you visit your Congressman. There are materials and resources on this page that you can download and print out.
4.Spread the word about this event on Facebook and Twitter. Use the hashtag #realcuts if you are tweeting about the event.

Remember…

•We want REAL spending cuts. No more gimmicks, no more lies. Make REAL CUTS and prioritize!
•Increasing spending more slowly than someone else is still increasing spending.
•When you increase spending by $5 and then cut $3, you haven’t made a cut. Your total spending is still $2 higher than it was before. This is a gimmick. Stop it. Now.
•If you say you’re cutting $3, then cut $3. This year. (And in case it’s not clear to your Rep., $3 is an example. A whole lot more than $3 needs to be cut!)
•All of the so-called cuts passed by Congress always get spread out over ten years, but this Congress has no authority over the next Congress and those cuts from this year can easily be overturned. Therefore, real cuts are cuts that occur within in the same fiscal year.

•Our country’s national debt has now surpassed our Gross Domestic Product (GDP). Now is the time for real cuts, not fake cuts.
•We see what is happening to Greece and Italy, and to the Eurozone in general. It is the responsibility of elected officials to make REAL CUTS now.

CQ ROLL CALL: Daily Briefing--November 14, 2011

Today In Washington

THE SUPREME COURT: The justices agreed this morning to review the constitutionality of the health care overhaul in time for a ruling in June. They said they will hear five hours of oral arguments — likely in late March — focused on the heart of the 2010 law, a requirement that individuals buy medical insurance starting in 2014 or pay a penalty.

THE HOUSE: Convenes at 2 to debate bills that would name seven post offices, a wildlife refuge in Mississippi and a federal courthouse being built in Florida (for Alto Lee Adams, the chief justice of the state Supreme Court from 1949-51). If any lawmakers object, they can demand a roll call vote after 6:30.

THE SENATE: Convenes at 2 for preliminary debate only (no cutting or deregulating amendments from Republicans yet) on the second appropriations minibus for the fiscal year that’s six weeks old: a $129.5 billion package combining what are normally three different spending bills: Energy-Water, Financial Services and State-Foreign Operations.

THE WHITE HOUSE: Obama’s got only one public event on the third day of his Pacific Rim trip: a fundraiser at 11:15 (Hawaii time) at the Aulani Disney Resort in Kapolei.

DECISIONS, DECISIONS: The Supreme Court’s timetable for considering the health care law gives the justices the power to make their most politically decisive ruling since they effectively decided the 2000 presidential election.

But that’s only if a majority of the court decides it even wants to settle the question of whether the federal government has the power to compel people to buy a product in the commercial marketplace (a health insurance policy) and punish them (with a tax) if they don’t. A ruling, four months before Election Day, that the mandate is constitutional would provide a significant and perfectly timed boost to Obama and congressional Democrats — because it would enshrine for the ages their top shared domestic policy achievement. A ruling that strikes it down would grant the GOP nominee-in-waiting, and congressional Republican candidates, their No. 1 campaign season wish — because it would validate all of their vituperative derisions of “Obamacare” as an unconstitutional overreach.

The main reason the justices would take one side or the other is that the regional federal appeals courts have been split on the core question of whether the mandate is within Congress’ power to regulate interstate commerce. (Two have upheld the law, a third has found it unconstitutional and a fourth has ruled it’s too soon to say.) And a main function of the Supreme Court is to make consistent judicial policy when the lower courts disagree. But it’s also true (Bush v. Gore aside) that Roberts and the other conservatives who are the majority on the court have said over and over again that the judicial branch should generally look for ways to stay out of white-hot political disputes — and also should defer, if at all possible, to the will of the elected branches of government when it comes to policy disputes.

And so the easiest way to find five votes between now and June might be for one of those conservatives (the chief justice, Scalia, Thomas, Alito and that big maybe, Kennedy) to shop the view among his colleagues that it’s too soon to decide the constitutional question yet — because the mandate hasn’t actually taken effect and so no one has been “harmed” by having to pay a penalty for not obeying.

ANOTHER WAY OUT: Ten days until the supercommittee’s absolute deadline (counting today) ... six days until the CBO needs to know what it’s scoring if there’s going to be a deal ... and still no glimmer of a bipartisan bargain remotely in sight no matter what co-Chairman Jeb Hensarling says. In fact, Clyburn says his fellow Democrats on the panel are getting more and more itchy to get off the same page, and the Republicans in the group are getting ready for a fusillade of criticism from the rank and file — especially House members returning from a week back home — for their offer to raise $250 billion in new revenue (without actually raising tax rates), which would get one-fifth the way toward the panel’s $1.2 trillion minimum target.

The boomlet today is for the idea that the deal would do nothing more than set reconciliation instructions for a net-revenue-rasing tax overhaul (size not yet determined) to be written next year — and with the same up-or-down-vote/no-filibuster process that’s supposed to help the supercommittee now. It’s the last plausible escape hatch left for the supercommittee to wriggle through, especially because the lawmakers can say their move would be more than kicking the can down the road — it would be facing the reality that rewriting the tax code in a few days would be nearly impossible, because of the prospect that a single misplaced comma could mess things up seriously down the road.

The talk of dismantling the punishment trigger — the across-the-board sequester cutting both military and civilian programs in the absence of a deal — is getting louder again today, mainly because Obama over the weekend made clear that he opposes the idea but pointedly did not use the word “veto” in discussing how he would react to a bill that would disarm the trigger.

TOTALLY SPENT: Negotiators are on course to announce their deal today on the first minibus of fiscal 2012 spending bills — in plenty of time for Congress to clear it by week’s end. The package will provide $128 billion in discretionary appropriations through next September for the Agriculture, Commerce, Justice, Transportation and HUD departments as well as NASA, the FDA and the National Science Foundation. It also will have language keeping all the rest of the government on autopilot until the middle of December — meaning there’s really not even the theoretical threat of another government shutdown this week. (The first shutdown resulting from the fabled Gingrich-Clinton budget standoff started 16 years ago today, by the way.)

Two of the more important policy shifts that will be carried by the minibus are restrictions on NASA’s relationships with China and Chinese-owned companies, and an end to restrictions on heavy trucks using the interstate highways in Maine and Vermont.

RIM SHOT: Fresh off his success in winning bipartisan congressional backing for trade deals with South Korea, Colombia and Peru, Obama is making headway on another front that could make trade liberalization one of the “who knew?” hallmarks of his presidency. At the APEC summit in Honolulu over the weekend, he won commitments from Japan and Canada to join talks aimed at binding nine Pacific Rim nations to a trade pact in the next year. If it happens, it would be the biggest such deal since NAFTA in 1994 — and would be a significant step toward giving American goods and services a commercial advantage against those from China. (The talks already involve Australia, Chile, Peru and Singapore, all of which already have separate free-trade agreements with the U.S., as well as Malaysia, New Zealand, Vietnam and Brunei.)

ONE-DAY STORY: There won’t be any investigative or poor public relations “legs’’ to last night’s “60 Minutes” report suggesting that Boehner, Pelosi, House Financial Services Chairman Spencer Bachus and other lawmakers made stock-trading profits off of insider information. That’s because what’s being alleged is based on implication only; insider-trading laws don’t apply to members of Congress; the story was bipartisan in nature, and thus one side can’t use it against the other; and, besides all that, the public perception of Congress is already so low that it won’t be driven lower by additional evidence that buttresses existing suspicions that people at the Capitol get preferential treatment.

All that said, the issues raised by CBS (and Peter Schweizer, the conservative Hoover Institution scholar who drove the reporting process for Steve Kroft’s piece) are as ethically complex as they are important. But, in a sense, those issues boil down to this: Since House members and senators have access to non-public information on the full range of American and global economic activity — and have the capacity to shape the futures of almost any business — should their every investment transaction be suspect to suspicion? If the answer is “yes,” but the notion is that lawmakers should have a chance to buy stocks like the rest of us, should they be compelled — if not by law, then by public pressure — to make all of their investments through blind trusts?

QUOTE OF NOTE: “They’re wrong. Waterboarding is torture. It’s contrary to America’s traditions. It’s contrary to our ideals,” Obama said last night during his press conference after the APEC summit, reacting to the support for the practice expressed by Herman Cain and Michelle Bachmann at Saturday night’s GOP presidential debate. “That’s not who we are. That’s not how we operate. We don’t need it in order to prosecute the war on terrorism, and we did the right thing by ending that practice.”

Restoring the Constitutional Republic 11.11.11 rally

Restoring the Constitutional Republic Rally in DC
by Judi McLeod

Washington,DC- Cold bitter winds blowing through Washington, DC today didn’t stop patriots from coming from as far away as Hawaii, Kentucky, South Carolina and Michigan to the Washington Monument to take stand for the American Constitution and the Declaration of Independence at the Restoring the Constitutional Republic 11.11.11 rally.

US Patriots Union founder, columnist JB Williams and Veterans Defenders of America leader Col. Harry Riley, who organized the rally knew in the planning stage that no matter how many the rally gathered, the snub of the mainstream media would be the same.

Along with JB, CFP columnists Navy SEAL Jim O’Neill and Dr. Ileana Johnson were there.

CFP editor Judi McLeod felt honoured to be asked by JB and Riley to address the gathering.

“Few eras in American and world history are more critical than the one we are all living right now.

“For this is the dark chapter when an undocumented ‘president’ works round-the-clock to deliver to global elitist power brokers his promised Fundamental Transformation of America.

“But as I stand right here with you at the cherished Washington Monument and see with my own eyes and hear with my own ears, your passion and unbridled patriotism, I take heart.

“For the presence of every single one of you here today tells not only me—but freedom and liberty lovers everywhere that American patriots will NEVER let the Obama-vowed Fundamental Transformation of America go down in history!!

The motto of my newspaper Canada Free Press states outright on its banner; ‘BECAUSE WITHOUT AMERICA THERE IS NO FREE WORLD” That’s the motto that should be on the New York Times the Washington Post and on all American newspapers who are in business only because of their readers and advertisers!

“BECAUSE WITHOUT AMERICA THERE IS NO FREE WORLD” should be the one chant shouted from every rooftop because it is the one chant that is the truth!

“The sun came up on a beautiful day at the Monument and CFP’s Brian Thompson, sussing out the site for Occupy Wall Street activists, said that the sun rising over the Washington Monument was an image that would live in his heart forever. And, like every other day just before sunrise, the Creator’s Orchestra of trilling, chirping birds warned of the dawn of another God’s day.

“The Occupy Wall Street crowd, incidentally, were still asleep in their tents or at home sleeping….They work in shifts and only appear mid-mornings.

“The sun, at least figuratively speaking, would not rise in Athens, Paris or Rome without America. America, no matter how politicians portray it, is the leader of the STILL-FREE West. America earned that place as world defender of democracy and it was paid for in the sacrifice of human life in wars whose ultimate goal was to keep the Free World Free.

“There would be no rising sun for many average little people raising families in far-flung corners of the world without America, whose ingenuity, courage and outstanding generosity have kept freedom alive in the West and abroad.

“All of us here know it has been a long three years, with an almost every Friday night shock thrown at the American people from politicians using the evil Marxist Saul Alinsky ‘Demoralize-the-Masses’ Rule Book.

“We all know that we are on the Last Mile and that the Last Mile—marked between right now and the November 6, 2012 Election will be the longest last mile of our lives.

“Think about it. Next Veterans Day, exactly one year from today will be AFTER the 2012 presidential election.

“Yesterday while driving through beautiful Pennsylvania to get here, I couldn’t get over the houses tucked in the deep valleys and up the majestic mountains, many likely there through long generations.

“Are these the ‘rich’ the Obama administration and their Occupy Wall Street friends squatting in the parks want to wipe out? Ordinary, industrious, hard-working Americans?

“That very memory of driving through Pennsylvania brings me to a specific message in my address to you today.

“For three years Barack Obama has travelled the world complaining about America and Americans. We know this to be true, but in order to win the fight against his fundamental transformation we must look into the reason why he constantly puts down an America that afforded he and his wife a life of privilege, including his election to the Oval Office.

“Obama needs to destroy American exceptionalism and to destroy forever the American ideal.

“The reason for that is Obama wants to hand America over to greedy and corrupt power brokers who see people as serfs—their serfs. In other words, Obama is doing nothing less than selling America out!

“No matter what happens on the Last Mile, those here today will look back to today. They will remember how the US Patriot Union and the Veteran Defenders of America told you here that today was not the end—but only the beginning of the battle ahead to Restore the Constitution and the American Declaration of Independence.

“It starts with the full confidence of knowing that Obama cannot take America—when Americans won’t give it away to him or any other politician.

“Everything is worth fighting for if there is to be any kind of legacy of freedom for our children and grandchildren.

“Obama and the power brokers whose employee he is never counted on the fire of patriotism imbued in the hearts of American patriots that has never died out since the day of the Founding Fathers…the day when men were statesmen and not career politicians. We the People never forgot it, only the politicians trying to cling to power did. But politicians like Barack Obama, Harry Reid and Nancy Pelosi are no different than other politicians, who like the leaves of autumn, are here today…and mercifully gone with the wind tomorrow.

“The things that matter most to a free people who come from a glorious history as Americans do are NEVER forgotten or let go.

“So besides saying God Bless America, God bless each and every one of you, I will end this the way I left the South East Michigan 9/12 Project when I spoke to them two years ago this June.

“As I was leaving the podium, I shouted out the one slogan heard and cheered by freedom lovers all over the world: That is: “USA!” “USA!”

“When Michiganian Cathy Tyler shouted my name followed by “USA!” “USA!”

“Cathy: Are you there?”

P.S: Note to the never-say-die Patriot JB Williams: You do America proud.

PPS: During the rally, incredibly, the chopper known as Marine 1, now empty having done its part to shuttle Obama on the deck of the USS Carl Vinson for today’s Michigan State and North Carolina Basketball Game, flew over patriots at the Washington Monument.

Sun Journal Letter to the Editor: Violence at AFP Summit in DC, by CCTA Vice Chairman, Nancy Murdoch

At 4:30 a.m. last Friday morning, my husband and I, along with a number of Eastern N.C. patriots got on a bus heading to Washington, D.C. to attend the “Defending the American Dream Summit", sponsored by Americans for Prosperity. We paid our own way to the event.

After arriving, we attended the opening events and the dinner honoring President Reagan, where we were fortunate to hear many amazing speakers. As Judge Andrew Napolitano began his remarks, he was interrupted by an infiltrator that began screaming at the crowd. As he was removed, the Judge affirmed the protesters’ right to his convictions, as much as he disagreed with them.

Later in the festivities we were shown a video of what was occurring outside the Convention Center. A number of protesters had shown up from the “Occupy” movement with a large “fat cat” balloon. We were advised to stay in groups and not engage with the protesters when we walked back to our hotel.

Those believing that the “Occupy” movement is non-violent are very mistaken. At one time no one was able to leave the building as the protesters blocked the entrances, banging on the glass and screaming. Eventually police were able to clear the doors and we were allowed to leave. Unfortunately, several older women were knocked down and suffered some minor injuries that could have easily been serious. A woman in a wheelchair was not allowed to leave, and a child was separated from her mother. The situation was chaotic, with the protesters being in charge more than the police. Traffic was blocked, and someone was run over by a vehicle. Anyone doubting the veracity of my statements can find videos online covering the events.

I have attended a number of tea parties, and have never seen violence of any kind, and no arrests. The “Occupy” movement has resulted in almost 3,000 arrests to date, rapes, assaults, a death, injuries, destruction of private property, and the loss of safety and movement for others. To compare these statistics to the Tea Parties is a joke, and would only be made by someone with a warped agenda. Media and politicians pushing the “Occupy” movement as representative of the American people will pay a price. To ignore the violence and applaud this type of disgusting behavior is an injustice to us all.

Occupy Wall Street Pushes Grandmother Down Stairs at Americans for Prosperity Defending the Dream Summit

November 7, 2011

I was fortunate to attend the Defending the American Dream summit two years ago but was unable to attend this year. My husband and I have had many conversations about the risk involved in participating in any TEA Party, Patriots or conservative event. And now it has happened. This violence will only escalate during the next 364 days. As law-abiding patriots our only recourse is to effect change at the ballot box. If you're not certain if you should become involved, then this video should be the catalyst to take action. Those who oppose the American Dream, who oppose freedom, who work toward socialism... will try and intimidate us with their rhetoric and with their actions. We must not be deterred by fear.

DEFENDING THE DREAM SUMMIT: Washington, DC on Nov. 4-5

Hi friends,

I got a call a couple of days ago about the Defending the Dream summit in Washington on Nov. 4-5.

The great news is there will be a bus leaving from New Bern. The price is $259 per person, and includes the bus trip, hotel room, two meals and entrance to all the summit events. It's a good deal. We went last year, and it was fantastic. The speakers included George Will, Herman Cain, and Michele Bachmann. I don't know who the speakers will be this year, but I'm sure they will be good.

Go to www.defendingthedream.org for more information and to register.

Let's get a big crowd to go from Eastern NC. Send this to everyone you know from this area.

CQ ROLL CALL: Daily Briefing August 5, 2011

Today In Washington

THE WHITE HOUSE: “When Congress returns in September, I want to move quickly on things that can create more jobs, right now,” Obama said in reacting to this morning’s better-than-expected jobs report: 117,000 new positions created in July and the unemployment rate slipping by a tenth of a point, to 9.1 percent.  (NOTE THESE NUMBERS WERE WELL MANIPULATED BY THE WHITE HOUSE, MORE ON THAT LATER, Lynn)

The president is at the Washington Navy Yard to outline his ideas for getting businesses to hire or train 100,000 veterans or their spouses by the end of 2013. At a cost of $120 million, he’s proposing a $2,400 tax credit for companies that sign on unemployed veterans during the next two years (twice as much if the person has been jobless longer than six months) as well as an extension of the existing tax credit for hiring disabled veterans. He’s also ordering the Pentagon to do more to help servicemembers get the skills and training they need before they enter the job market. (The current jobless rate for post-Sept. 11 veterans is 13.3 percent.)

Marine One will leave the South Lawn and ferry the first family to Camp David at 2:15.

THE SENATE: Convened at 10 and recessed 39 seconds later — after clearing (on a unanimous consent voice vote) legislation re-opening all the offices of the FAA for six weeks and allowing 70,000 construction workers to return to 200 airport improvement projects. (Maryland’s Ben Cardin presided, Virginia’s Jim Webb made the motion and California’s Barbara Boxer was the only other senator in the chamber — meaning the Republicans had no parliamentary defense against a much more aggressive Democratic legislative effort.) The next pro forma meeting will be at 11 on Tuesday.

THE HOUSE: Convened at 10 and recessed seven minutes later, after disposing of some routine paperwork.  Its next pro forma session will be at 10 on Tuesday.

GOOD NEWS, BAD NEWS:  Today’s employment report was initially greeted as unabashedly good news in financial markets, mostly because both the drop in the jobless rate and the rise in payrolls beat most analyst expectations. (The initial surges in all three major stock indexes dissipated after only an hour or so; each was down by about 1 percent at 11:30.) But that’s just the way investors behave. As a signal about the economy, the numbers can be seen as a glass that’s half full — or, just as plausibly, half empty.

The optimistic view is that the almost non-existent payroll growth and the rise in joblessness of the past few months has seemingly been reversed. After GDP grew at a 0.4 percent annual rate in the first quarter and a 1.3 percent rate in the second, a jump in payrolls and a drop in unemployment for the first month of the third quarter may be a harbinger of strong growth in the latter half of the year. That’s what Bernanke has been promising. And when the Fed chairman and his monetary-policy-setting colleagues sit down next week to deliberate about what to do, the July jobs numbers may provide some reassurance.

The pessimistic view centers on the 154,000 positions created by private employers in July — because that’s about half as many as the economy will need month after month to pull the unemployment rate back into a politically acceptable place by next year. And the 37,000 government jobs that were lost (the ninth consecutive monthly decline) will be repeated as federal, state and local budget cuts continue for years to come. Moreover, there are some anomalies in the July private payroll figures, particularly seasonal adjustments for expected automaker layoffs that may have overstated the job growth figure for the month. Finally, the figures from the household survey showed a drop in the labor force and the number of people who were working, a troubling sign. Those statistics are notoriously volatile, however, and generally not as believable as company-reported payroll counts. So maybe they don’t mean much. Again, wait for the August jobs report that will be out a month from now.

Both parties, at least for a little while, appeared to agree that the best course was to see the report as a classic “on the one hand, on the other hand” event that shouldn’t be interpreted in any way as a panacea. “We’ve got a long way to go” was in the sound bite offered by both Cantor and Austan Goolsbee — who’s in his last day as chairman of the president’s Council of Economic Advisers.

MAE DAY:  Fannie Mae said today that it lost $5.2 billion in the second quarter while it continues to seek loan modifications to help reduce mortgage defaults. As a result it will ask for about the same amount in additional cash from the Treasury. It has already received almost $100 billion since a partial federal takeover during the housing meltdown of three years ago.

IN FOR A LANDING:  The FAA impasse ended because Reid concluded that — with the debt crisis averted and the aviation story suddenly the only thing drawing attention to Congress — Senate Democrats would not be able to reverse the intensifying and outraged national perception that their petulance and petty parochialism had put 74,000 workers out on the street.

And so he totally capitulated to the House Republicans that his side had characterized as bullies and hostage-takers only the day before. His only sliver of victory was getting LaHood to promise to at least consider using his powers to retain some of the $17 million in annual subsidies that would otherwise be ended on commercial service to 13 small or remote locales.

The bill neither gives back pay to the 4,000 agency workers furloughed 14 days ago nor guarantees the government will recoup about $420 million in ticket taxes it couldn’t collect during the standoff. And it lasts only until Sept. 16, or 10 days after Congress returns, meaning negotiators will be under enormous pressure next month to reach agreement on the airline union organizing dispute that’s prevented a long-term reauthorization from being enacted for almost four years.

THROW THE BUMS OUT?  An 82 percent disapproval rating for Congress was recorded by New York Times and CBS News pollsters on Tuesday and Wednesday, just as lawmakers were leaving town after avoiding default and as their initial decision to leave the FAA in limbo was becoming a headline. It was the highest level recorded by the Times/CBS poll since the question was first asked 34 years ago. And fully 75 percent of those polled said most members of Congress do not deserve to be re-elected while just 15 percent say they do — a finding that suggests an anti-incumbent wave could sweep across all four caucuses in 2012.

The poll offered other foreboding numbers for lawmakers — especially the Republicans — on virtually every front. While the survey showed a statistical tie on approval vs. disapproval for the debt deal enacted this week, 82 percent said the preceding standoff was “mostly about gaining political advantage” and just 14 percent said it was “mostly about doing what was best for the country.” And the survey signaled that the public saw the congressional GOP as politically motivated most of all: 72 percent said they disapprove of how Republicans handled the negotiations, while 66 percent disapproved of how Hill Democrats handled them.

But the poll showed a statistical tie between those who disapproved and approved of how Obama handed the standoff. And going forward, 47 percent said they trust him to make decisions about the economy — far better than the 33 percent trusting congressional Republicans. (Boehner’s own disapproval rating surged to 57 percent, up 16 points since April. His approval rating now is 30 percent.) One finding that suggests trouble ahead for the Republicans selling the argument that cutting federal spending is the best prescription for the economy: 62 percent think creating jobs should be Washington’s focus, 29 percent think it should be cutting spending — and only 8 percent say it should be both.

HOW GREEN WAS MY CAPITOL:  When House members return in a month, they will see that the “Green the Capitol” initiative — which Pelosi launched with so much fanfare when she was Speaker — is officially no more. In light of the 7 percent spending cut Congress is imposing on itself and in the face of comprehensive ridicule from the new Republican majority, the House’s chief administrative officer has decided to fold the initiative into an existing energy reduction program handled by the Architect of the Capitol. The idea is to save money, eliminate redundancy and allow the administrative office to get back to its core duties, which GOP members lamented had been ignored too often in favor of the green work.
