The debt ceiling: We were tricked, y’all!
The Daily Haymaker, by Brant Clifton,
American
Hustle is not just lighting up the movie screens. It’s
playing out on Capitol Hill as well.
Following last week’s
disgraceful surrender by House Republicans on the debt ceiling, we got all
kinds of stories about how Howard Coble was the only NCGOPer to vote for Boehner’s bill. Actually,
it appears that most Republicans voted to allow others to raise the debt limit,
and then turned around and voted against the debt ceiling increase. Like
John Kerry, they were FOR it, before they were AGAINST it.
How did this all go
down? Pull up a chair. Class is in session.

Republicans renew ObamaCare battle after latest mandate delay
Fox News, February 11, 2014
“Administration
officials dispute that this is happening on any large scale. Further, Treasury
officials said Monday that businesses will be told to "certify" that
they are not shedding full-time workers simply to avoid the mandate. Officials
said employers will be told to sign a "self-attestation" on their tax
forms affirming this, under penalty of perjury.”
Republicans renewed their calls to delay or repeal ObamaCare Monday
after the Obama administration announced another delay in the requirement for
businesses to provide health coverage to workers, giving some employers a
reprieve next year while phasing in the mandate for others.
The administration had already delayed the implementation of the
so-called employer mandate by a year, initially pushing the requirements off
until 2015 -- past the midterm elections. In a concession to business, though,
Treasury Department officials announced Monday that the administration would
not enforce the rules across the board next year.
"Once again, the president is giving a break to corporations while
individuals and families are still stuck under the mandates of his health care
law. And, once again, the president is rewriting law on a whim," House
Speaker John Boehner said in a statement. "If the administration doesn't
believe employers can manage the burden of the law, how can struggling families
be expected to?"

CCTA Launches New Class on Nullification—February 8, 2014!
Join us on
Saturday mornings at 11:30 am at the Highland Park Christian Church, 905 Carolina Ave. ,
New Bern , NC
(take Trent Road
to Highland Ave. ,
go 1 block and turn left on Carolina
Ave. )
The class will
be based on the book, Nullification, How to Resist Federal Tyranny
in the 21st Century, Dr. Thomas E. Woods, Jr.
Citizens across the country are fed up with the
politicians in Washington
telling us how to live our lives—and then sticking us with the bill. But what
can we do? Actually, we can just say “no.” As New York Times bestselling author Thomas E. Woods,
Jr., explains, “nullification” allows states to reject unconstitutional federal
laws. For many tea partiers nationwide, nullification is rapidly becoming the
only way to stop an over-reaching government drunk on power. From privacy to
national healthcare, Woods shows how this growing and popular movement is
sweeping across America
and empowering states to take action against Obama’s socialist policies and
big-government agenda.
The class will be facilitated by Randy Siler. For more information, contact Nancy Murdoch, CCTA Education Chairman at 252-665-2679.

IRS to get 'license to kill' groups that oppose Obama agenda
The Washington Times, January 7, 2014 — The Internal Revenue Service is getting a special
new power: a “license to kill” group that oppose the Obama agenda. James Bond’s
license to kill isn’t nearly as broad.
The power to tax is the power
to destroy. Its new powers will let the IRS destroy certain groups, especially
those connected to the Tea Party, by imposing a tax on their work and messages
during campaign seasons. Even the value of volunteer work could be taxed.
Suspicion traces the plan
directly to President Barack Obama, since he personally met with IRS chief
counsel William Wilkins — an Obama political appointee and long-time supporter
— in the Roosevelt Room of the White House on April 23, 2012, two days before
the IRS issued its key internal directives to target Tea Party and other
conservative groups.
Now, unless Congress acts
quickly to block them, new IRS regulations will deliver a death penalty to many
of almost 100,000 grass-roots non-profits known as 501(c)(4) groups. They often
provide information to the public about political issues, befitting their tax
requirement to benefit social welfare.
The IRS wants to create a new
bureaucratic definition that re-labels those common voter information
activities by re-naming them “candidate-related political activity.” For short,
IRS calls it CRPA, but CRAP would fit better.
This is actually a gag rule.
But the IRS’s new speech restrictions do not apply to labor unions, trade
associations, political parties, or other non-profit groups such as
501(c)(3)’s. The impact is limited to the 501(c)(4)’s, which are the favorite
vehicle for Tea Party groups.
The Left also has 501(c)(4)
non-profits which could be muzzled by the new rules. But the Obama
Administration is notorious for selective enforcement, meaning it could choose
to give a pass to friendly groups while it puts conservatives out of business.
They could use this in efforts to shut down groups like the Faith and Freedom
Coalition, Club for Growth, Americans for Prosperity and the National Rifle
Association, while ignoring People for the American Way , American Civil Liberties
Union, USAction and the Democratic Leadership Council.

Muslim Mortgages Paid with More than $300 Million – Courtesy of US Taxpayers
My head is going to explode, I swear it is! ~Lynn
Posted By Suzanne Hamner on Jan 5,
The government is
not blind to the fact that there are 46 million Americans who are unemployed,
with a small percentage of those being homeless and living in poverty. Among
those are roughly 1.2 million children, who attend public schools that are
homeless. More than likely, they have contributed to the increased numbers of
the homeless in the United
States . Military retirees were told to “embrace the suck” when their retirement was cut in the
budget deal. Nancy Pelosi claimed so many cuts had been made that the “cupboard
is bare.” This signals there is no more frivolous money that can be cut. Well
that was proven less than accurate. So, where did the more than $300 million dollars
in taxpayer money come from to send to Muslims to help pay their mortgages?

Peter Schweizer: Congress Using Tax Code to Milk Industries!
Breitbart, January 3, 2014
Appearing on Fox News' Hannity with guest-host Eric
Bolling, Breitbart News Senior Editor-at-Large and Government Accountability
Institute President Peter Schweizer said Washington 's
politicians are finding more creative ways to use the tax code to milk various
industries to their benefit.
Bolling noted that 55 new
laws will bring in an estimated $54 billion in tax increases in 2014. Schweizer
emphasized that Congress always finds a way to use creative accounting to get
around the Congressional Budget Office and various "pay-as-you-go"
requirements.

Obama’s ‘catch-me-if-you-can’ government lands him on most corrupt list - Washington Times
The nonprofit government watchdog Judicial
Watch released its most recent annual list of “Ten Most Wanted Corrupt
Politicians” this week, and both political parties take a hit: House Speaker John Boehner’s there, as well as former Secretary of State Hillary Clinton.
But topping the list: President Obama — for his “catch-me-if-you-can” manner
of governing, Judicial Watch said.
On its website, the watchdog group wrote:
“House Speaker John Boehner has apparently become a master at what Government Accountability Institute president Peter Schweizer calls the ‘Tollbooth Strategy,’ ” or
when politicians charge interested parties money to move a bill through the
legislative process.
And Mr. Boehner has used that method to “collect more
than $200,000 in political donations from executives just days before holding
votes on bills critically important to their industries,” Mr. Schweizer wrote, in his new book, “Extortion:
How Politicians Extract Your Money, Buy Votes and Line Their Own Pockets,” as
cited by Judicial Watch. (THIS IS A MUST READ BOOK FOLKS! ~ Lynn)

Congress Charges Secret Fee to Land Top Committee Spots— Doesn’t sound like the right way to do things.
Check it out:
Members of Congress
must pay secret fees known as “party dues” to the Democratic and Republican
parties to secure and maintain top committee chairmanships and assignments,
newly uncovered internal documents reveal.Con
The never-before-published lists are
reprinted inside the new book Extortion: How Politicians Extract Your Money, Buy
Votes, and Line Their Own Pockets, written by Government Accountability
Institute President and Breitbart News Senior Editor-at-Large Peter Schweizer.
Senior congressional
staffers say the committee price lists have long been rumored to exist but that
few people on Capitol Hill have seen them, giving them an almost “mythical”
quality.

Audit Finds Bloated Budget For Green Jobs Training Despite Lack Of Open Positions
A federal audit shows that nearly a half-billion dollars in government funds was spent on training workers for so-called “green jobs.” The only problem is that not enough positions in the growing industry exist.
The
findings — released in a June report by the Government
Accountability Office — showed that only 55 percent of those trained were able
to place in a new job, many of which were not technically green jobs. The $501
million in funding came from the 2009 stimulus law. The report also uncovered
that the Department of Labor created a framework that led grantees to broadly
interpret the program’s definition to include any job “that could be linked,
directly or indirectly, to a beneficial outcome” which led to the gap between
training programs and available green industry jobs.
Judges attend lavish conferences on taxpayer dime amid budget cuts - Washington Times
Even as courts warn of job cuts and furloughs to their employees because of the sequester, federal judges continue to attend taxpayer-funded conferences at lavish resorts, according to a top senator who is calling on the courts to change their priorities.
Sen. Tom Coburn, Oklahoma Republican and Congress‘ top waste-watcher, said 150 judges for the federal appeals court based in Richmond last month held their conference
at the Greenbrier resort in West Virginia, spending $270 a night per room — and, Mr. Coburn said, leaving the court closed for business on a Friday.
“In times of limited financial resources and fear that furloughs may cause cancellation of hearings, the AOUSC should prioritize the administration of justice over a conference,” he said in a letter to Judge John D. Bates, director of the Administrative Office of the U.S. Courts.
The letter is the latest in Mr. Coburn’s effort to make federal agencies
square their initial dire warnings about budget cuts with the way they have continued to spend, even after the sequesters took effect on March 1.
Mr. Coburn said that earlier this year, the chief judge of the 11th U.S. Circuit Court of Appeals complained about the “devastating impact” of sequesters on the federal judiciary, but weeks later his circuit hosted its conference at the Westin Savannah Harbor Golf Resort and Spa in Georgia.
Meanwhile, Mr. Coburn said hundreds of millions of dollars are being spent on what he said were “unneeded” new or remodeled courthouses.
A spokesman for the courts said they will be drafting a response to Mr. Coburn, but won’t comment until then.
Mr. Coburn asked for records for all judicial conference spending over the past five years.

Obama Promised To Buy Solyndra's Solar Panels for Gov't Buildings
Less than three months after President Barack Obama's May 26, 2010 visit to the Solyndra plant in Fremont, Calif., a Solyndra investor claimed in an e-mail to the company's new CEO, Brian Harrison, that during Obama's visit he had personally witnessed the president "actually promise" the company's previous CEO, Chris Gronet, that he would "look into" having the federal government buy Solyndra's solar panels to place on federal buildings.
