Charles and David Koch are the two most evil people in American politics, right? We know that because Jane Mayer proved it with her landmark "Covert Operations" tour de liberal force in 2010.

Well, it turns out that Mayer's aim was off just a little, by like 58 slots on the all-time biggest donors in American politics list, as compiled by OpenSecrets.org.

OpenSecrets.org tallied the top donors in federal elections between 1989 and 2014. Koch Industries -- privately owned by the Evil Koch Bros -- is on the list, to be sure, but doesn't appear until the 59th slot, with $18 million in donations, 90 percent of which went to Republicans.

IRS to get 'license to kill' groups that oppose Obama agenda

The Washington Times, January 7, 2014 — The Internal Revenue Service is getting a special new power: a “license to kill” group that oppose the Obama agenda. James Bond’s license to kill isn’t nearly as broad.

The power to tax is the power to destroy. Its new powers will let the IRS destroy certain groups, especially those connected to the Tea Party, by imposing a tax on their work and messages during campaign seasons. Even the value of volunteer work could be taxed.

Suspicion traces the plan directly to President Barack Obama, since he personally met with IRS chief counsel William Wilkins — an Obama political appointee and long-time supporter — in the Roosevelt Room of the White House on April 23, 2012, two days before the IRS issued its key internal directives to target Tea Party and other conservative groups.

Now, unless Congress acts quickly to block them, new IRS regulations will deliver a death penalty to many of almost 100,000 grass-roots non-profits known as 501(c)(4) groups. They often provide information to the public about political issues, befitting their tax requirement to benefit social welfare.

The IRS wants to create a new bureaucratic definition that re-labels those common voter information activities by re-naming them “candidate-related political activity.” For short, IRS calls it CRPA, but CRAP would fit better.

This is actually a gag rule. But the IRS’s new speech restrictions do not apply to labor unions, trade associations, political parties, or other non-profit groups such as 501(c)(3)’s. The impact is limited to the 501(c)(4)’s, which are the favorite vehicle for Tea Party groups.

The Left also has 501(c)(4) non-profits which could be muzzled by the new rules. But the Obama Administration is notorious for selective enforcement, meaning it could choose to give a pass to friendly groups while it puts conservatives out of business. They could use this in efforts to shut down groups like the Faith and Freedom Coalition, Club for Growth, Americans for Prosperity and the National Rifle Association, while ignoring People for the American Way, American Civil Liberties Union, USAction and the Democratic Leadership Council.

Opinion: Detroit got what it deserved

Add another one to the list of bankruptcies because of ridiculous union pensions. We really need to look at making pensions illegal and replacing them with retirement accounts. This will prevent retires from getting the bum end when these bankruptcies happen.

If the residents of Detroit want to blame any person or organization for its Chapter 9 filing, they only need to look as far as the unions that controlled labor there and the politicians who ran it the past four decades. Detroit earned its bankruptcy the easy way — through greed, the desire for political power and poor planning.

Kevyn D. Orr, the city’s emergency manager, offered interested parties a likely way to avoid the bankruptcy filing just weeks ago. Employees of Detroit, past and present, could share the pain of the restructuring of financial obligations with bond holders. Each blamed the other for the city’s problems. Each said the other should absorb the brunt of a restructuring. Neither budged. Orr ran out of options, as two city pension funds went to court to try to protect their assets, motivated by a final grab for Detroit’s money.

The media’s take on Detroit was to post pictures of rundown and vacant homes and to publish the estimates of Detroit’s obligations — about $19 billion. The press also has pointed out the clear conclusion that bond owners will take cents on the dollar.

Unions will have parts of pension obligations voided. City workers will lose their jobs. The two largest employers in Detroit are the school system and the city itself.

Firefighters, Teachers and Police - Not a Federal Responsibility

The left wants us to believe that paying for teachers, firefighters and police is a federal responsibility. Not so. Such services have traditionally been the responsibility of state and local governments.

In Federalist 45, James Madison wrote that the powers of the federal government are “few and defined.” Madison argued that state power extends to issues that “concern the lives, liberties, and properties of the people, and the internal order, improvement, and prosperity of the State.” Nowhere in the Constitution is the federal government given the explicit power to supplant the traditional police powers of the states.

Article 1, Section 8 of the Constitution enumerates powers granted to the federal government. Nowhere does it list the power to “bail out the states who come up short in paying for firefighters, police and teachers.” Furthermore, when the feds “give” lesser governments money to pay for local responsibilities, they often attach conditions to funding that may be unconstitutional.

The 10th Amendment states “the powers not delegated to the United States by the Constitution, nor prohibited by it to the States, are reserved to the States respectively, or to the people.” The educating of children, the protection of the populace from crime and the suppression of fires are clearly powers reserved to the states.

Last week, the Left hit Republican presidential hopeful Mitt Romney with the supposedly shaming accusation that he wants to cut funding for these state and local functions. They went into a tizzy when Romney remarked that “teachers and firemen and policemen are hired at the local level and also by states. The federal government doesn’t pay for teachers, firefighters or policemen.”

Lesson Learned: Big is Bad, Very Bad!

The neo-reality of this 22nd century is that big is bad, very bad. Big government, big banks, big bailouts, big leverage, big liabilities and big debt are all very, very bad.


The world has been on a big binge and it is time to pay the proverbial piper.

Europe decided that bigger is better and created the European Union and a new currency, the Euro. What Europeans failed to recognize is that most of the member nation governments were big government socialists. These governments would continue to grow, their programs to help the needy would expand (primarily via the redefinition of needy) and everything would be just fine or so everyone thought until now. Socialism dislikes private property ownership. Central governments took more and more land and property in the form of taxes to expand government.

When these governments ran out of people to tax they began to borrow, and borrow they did in a big way.

The United States is on the same path as Europe. Taxing and borrowing became reelection strategies for both political parties. When the people rejected more taxes, borrowing became the new narcotic or the political class. Borrowing leads to hedging, which leads to leveraging, which leads to the inevitable - bankruptcy. Sovereign nations in Europe are facing bankruptcy.

So where is the money coming from?

From banks of course. Banks were and are still looking to lend to governments and by doing so have leveraged themselves into oblivion. According to Greg Hunter, former investigative reporter for ABC and creator of USAWatchDog.com, "I keep hammering away at the fact the Fed doled out $16 trillion in the wake of the credit crisis of 2008. This is an enormous sum that is greater than the all goods and services produced in the U.S. in a single year. Domestic banks and companies got the money, right along with foreign banks and companies. In effect, the Federal Reserve bailed out the world financial system. Now, we are right back to square one facing another financial meltdown with European banks and sovereign debt. If the Fed spent $16 trillion, why in the heck is this problem not fixed and why isn’t the world economy taking off like a rocket?" [My emphasis]

The simple answer is it wasn't enough money.

Why Are Obama & Union Bosses Working to Destroy Companies & Jobs?

The question needs to be asked: Is it ignorance or malice? There was a time after the subprime mortgage meltdown when, if sound decisions on policy and financial initiatives had occurred, the American economy may not have been hobbled as badly, its credit rating might not have been downgraded, the recession might have been curtailed and so many Americans might not have been so negatively affected. However, rather than helping a recovery by letting the quasi-free market adjust, contract and expand again, at almost every turn, Barack Obama and the union appointees and crony capitalists within his administration are, whether out of malice or ignorance, seemingly doing everything they can to destroy an already fragile economy. It’s really no longer a question of ”if,” but “why.”

Obama’s Fuzzy Stimulus Math -- Obama proposes 36% cut to Social Security revenue

Let’s forget the fact that Obama’s entire Stimulus 10.0 is a counterintuitive proposal that doubles down on the very failures that precipitated this speech. Let’s also disregard the fact that enshrining unemployment insurance as a permanent handout will perpetuate unemployment. And more union-induced, short-term money drops on infrastructure will do nothing but stimulate traffic jams. Let’s focus purely on the very numbers that the administration has offered –numbers that would undoubtedly be revised upward, if the plan is passed.

Total package – $447 billion

- 50% payroll tax cut for every employee, dropping the rate from 6.2% to 3.1%= $175 billion


-Obama also proposed cutting the employer payroll tax in half on the first $5 million of a firm’s payroll in 2012. About 98% of firms have payrolls of $5 million or less.= $70 billion


-National infrastructure bank = $10 billion


- Pork project handouts to unions for roads, rails and bridges= $50 billion


-An unprecedented extension of unemployment insurance benefits to be extended for another year, beyond the 99 weeks= $62 billion.

-Handouts to public school teacher unions, even though we already spend more per capita on education than any other country=$35 billion


-Refurbishing schools, a responsibility of local government=$25 billion


-Handouts to community colleges=$5 billion


-Rehabilitate vacant property=$15 billion

AFL-CIO President Says Beck, Limbaugh ‘Pushed Open the Door to Hate’ After 9/11

AFL-CIO President Richard Trumka released a statement Friday commemorating the 10th anniversary of Sept. 11 — and promptly turned it into a political opportunity to bash Glenn Beck, Rush Limbaugh, Karl Rove and other conservatives for opening “the door to hate” in the decade since the attacks:


Wealthy CEOs, anti-government extremist front groups and frothing talk show hosts—from the Rush Limbaughs and Glenn Becks to the Koch brothers, Karl Rove’s American Crossroads group, Americans for Prosperity, the Club for Growth, FreedomWorks and the American Legislative Exchange Council—also pushed open the door to hate.

Despite the unity Americans first felt in the wake of 9/11, that hate has led to “ill-thought wars,” the shooting of Rep. Gabrielle Giffords and attacks on immigrants and members of the LGBT community, Trumka said. It is also responsible for a racist conspiracy against President Barack Obama:

NLRB Heralds Labor Day with an Attack on Workers’ Rights

This week, just in time for Labor Day, the National Labor Relations Board (NLRB) handed down several decisions that undermine workers’ rights to tell union organizers “no.”


In one ruling, Specialty Healthcare and Rehabilitation Center of Mobile, the NLRB radically redefined the definition of a collective bargaining unit—the workers a union represents—to permit micro-unions. Traditionally, unions organize workers who share a community of interest. At a grocery store, for example, a collective bargaining unit would typically represent all the hourly employees.

The NLRB junked that definition in favor of a new standard: Now, instead of one union representing all workers with similar interests, unions could organize smaller micro-unions representing just a few workers. At a store this would allow separate unions to represent just the cashiers while leaving all other workers unorganized.

These rules will allow unions to gerrymander bargaining units to disenfranchise workers that oppose unionizing. If a union knows that the shelf-stockers would vote against unionizing, it can now propose a bargaining unit that excludes them. When the cashiers vote, the shelf-stockers would not get a say. However, the excluded workers would share in all the risks and downsides of unionizing. Strikes will also put them out of work, and if the union bankrupts the company, they will also lose their jobs.

The NLRB has decided that workers who do not want to take these risks will not get to vote. That certainly makes life easier for union organizers, but it hardly enhances workers’ rights.

In a second ruling, Lamons Gasket Co., the NLRB took another swipe at the secret ballot. Under current law, unions do not have to organize workers through secret ballot elections. If a company agrees to it, unions can solicit signatures on union authorization cards.

This Wisconsin Racket's Bluff Called

Remember the violent and disgusting demonstrations over Wisconsin Gov. Scott Walker doing away with the collective bargaining for teachers' unions? The results are in. Some school districts went from a $400,000 deficit to a $1,500,000 surplus as a result. Why?

It seems that the insurance company that provided all the "so-called" benefits to the teachers, was an insurance company owned and operated by the teacher's union. Since they were guaranteed to get the insurance business from the teachers and the State had to pay for it, and not the teachers, they were increasing the annual costs every single year to become the most expensive insurance company in the state. Then the insurance company was donating millions and millions of dollars to their favorite democrat politicians, who when they got elected, guaranteed to keep funding the unions outrageous costs. In other words, the insurance company was a "pass through" for Wisconsin taxpayer money directly to the democrat politicians.

Nice racket, and this is the racket that is going on in every single State that allows collective bargaining. No wonder the States are taking it away.
 
Now that the State of Wisconsin is free to put the insurance contract out for bid, and lo and behold, they have saved so much money it has turned deficits into surplus amounts. As a result, none of the teachers had to be laid off, everyone got a raise, etc., etc., and the taxpayers of Wisconsin don't have to pay more taxes to fund the union's political ambitions.

If you weren't aware of the reasons why Gov. Walker was fighting to take away collective bargaining, it gives you an idea of the problem the Republican Party has. Outside of one or two, none of them know how to speak up and explain properly what the problem was. We could sure use a Ronald Reagan now, someone who could explain things for people to understand, since we know that people don't like to read anymore.

Report: SEIU ‘Intimidation Manual’ Uncovered Detailing Union’s Dirty Tactics

According to Vincent Vernuccio in the Washington Times, it’s over 70 pages and details how “outside pressure can involve jeopardizing relationships between the employer and lenders, investors, stockholders, customers, clients, patients, tenants, politicians, or others on whom the employer depends for funds.”


“It” is a new intimidation manual uncovered during a lawsuit against the SEIU*, one of the nation’s largest unions. In it, Vernuccio says, the SEIU’s dirty tactics are explained, including bullying employers by targeting them economically and advocating for breaking the law.

AFL-CIO Union Chief Pledges 12 Million Workers to Van Jones Progressive Tea Party

Well, according to AFL-CIO president Rich Trumka, only the American “labor movement” is all about the “real” American Dream. I guess that means the rest of us haven’t got a clue.


Opening with Van Jones’ “American Dream” mantra, Trumka announced his pledge of 12 million union laborers and their families to support Van Jones’ “Rebuild the Dream” movement.

Trumka then goes on to explain that the real American Dream is not about a few of us having a lot, but about all of us having a “fair portion.”

“The American Dream is not that a few of us will get to be rich, but that all of us will have a fair portion of the good things in life.”

Fuel prices are steadily climbing. Our government is encouraging Brazil to drill and providing help for that effort while failing to issue permits to drill for our own oil.

Food prices aren’t far behind oil prices. It costs more to truck supplies to your grocery store. Right now, we can buy from local farmers and trade produce with our gardening friends, but just wait until the so-called “Food Safety Act” is fully implemented. Remember to thank Sen. Richard Burr when you get upset about this one. I like much of what Sen. Burr does, but his vote for the “Food Safety Act” infuriated me.

Unemployment is rampant. Our government taxes and regulates our entrepreneurs (who could solve this problem if left unfettered) to the point of making it almost impossible to create a profitable venture. Government is growing. Free enterprise is shrinking.

Americans’ innate rights are being treated as a gift from the government. That same government is steadily eroding our rights and removing choices from us. What part of “...the right to keep and bear arms shall not be infringed” is so difficult to understand? Why should I be forced to use light bulbs that are difficult to read by, make everyone look jaundiced, and can kill the baby and the puppy if a bulb is broken and the clean up isn’t handled properly?

Our government is treating our friends as enemies, and our enemies as friends. Why are we in Libya? How many of the rebels we’re supporting are jehadists who would like to kill us?

We seem to be going along with the United Nations in favoring Palestine over Israel. Why? Why is much of our media silent about the increase in attacks against Israel?

Health care costs are rising. Access to good health care is shrinking. Because of its design, Obamacare will cost more and more while providing less and less. Unions and Obama cronies can get exemptions. For the rest of us, implementation is going forward apace even though a judge has declared it unconstitutional. Goodness, I wonder why my rights are being ignored by a government that flouts the U.S. Constitution in the face of a court’s ruling; silly me.

We can fix this mess if we will. Our state legislators in North Carolina are taking steps in many good directions. I’m very grateful to them for it. Our biggest problems are on the federal level.

We need to drill in all the places America has oil reserves. We need to build refineries. We need to build nuclear power plants. Carefully, but build them. Americans will buy “green” and “alternative” sources of power of our own free will if and when they are perfected to the point of being convenient, reliable, plentiful, and priced to sell. Until that happens, let us choose what works for us using market solutions and common sense. The price of gas does NOT need to “necessarily skyrocket.”

We need to rescind the “Food Safety Act.”

We need to free ourselves from Obamacare.

We need to reduce the federal budget by 42 percent. Almost 42 cents of every dollar the federal government spends is borrowed. That’s got to stop or we’re headed for disaster. Can’t you just imagine a family trying to continue to live like that? Does the work “bankruptcy” come to mind?

We need to refuse to raise the debt ceiling.

We need to dramatically curtail the EPA and the FCC. They’re hurting our businesses and threatening our freedom. In the case of the EPA, much of the threat comes from acting as if unproven theories are facts.

We need to back out of entitlements.

We need to resign from the United Nations. Our sovereignty is too important to allow the U.N. to erode it. We need our autonomy. We do not need a world government. The more removed from the people a government is, the worse it tends to be.

The only war we’re appropriately fighting is the war against Muslim jihadist fundamentalists who insist that we must die or be converted to Muslims. Not acknowledging this will not stop the war. If we don’t stop them, the jihadists will keep attacking us and infiltrating our culture until we’re dead or wearing burkas. We must stop them.

Our friends in Israel are fighting a similar war. They are in an even more vulnerable position than we are. We need to declare quite plainly that “any attack on Israel will be treated as an attack on the United States of America.”

We need to carefully follow the United States Constitution. The powers of the federal government need to be contracted to fit within its design once again.

The Newest Labor War: Union, Feds Attack Boeing

Did the NLRB bite off more Carolina BBQ than it can chew?

The National Labor Relations Board (OBAMA SUPPORTING UNIONS) wants to prevent Boeing, a private company, from building its new 787 Dreamliner in South Carolina, a right to work state.

If the NLRB thought this would be an easy task, it was wrong, and also insane. Sen. Jim DeMint is angry. The move, he says, is "nothing more than a political favor for the unions who are supporting President Obama's reelection campaign." DeMint is going to "use every tool at my disposal to stop the president from carrying out this malicious act." Hell, even the South's most delicate senator is upset. Sen. Lindsey Graham said the NLRB's scheme is "one of the worst cases of unelected bureaucrats doing the bidding of special interest groups that I've ever seen." The bolt munchers at the International Association of Machinists District 571, meanwhile, are hailing this as "a victory for all American workers." Oh, except for the workers in South Carolina, where the unemployment rate is hovering around 10 percent.
