What is to be gained?
Republicans have been invited to a bipartisan meeting to discuss health care reform on February 25th at the request of Obama.
The purpose of this meeting is to solicit Republican input into the proposed health care bill. What could be wrong with this? Well for one thing the Democrats have no intention of scraping their two thousand page intrusion into our lives under the guise of health care reform.
Republican John Boehner of Ohio wants to start with a clean slate. He wants a level playing field to help build a comprehensive health care plan free of the bribes and entitlements like the one offered to Ben Nelson of Nebraska.
There has been talk of a Republican boycott of this meeting and with good reason. To begin with they have been shut out of the whole process right from the start. Sitting down with a bunch of Social Democrats, who have been working behind closed doors and away from public viewing, is not my idea of bipartisanship. But there is a more pressing reason to boycott this meeting. If any Republican signs on to Obamacare, then they will then share in its impact on our Nation. If a boycott is staged the social democrats will attempt reconciliation and if it passes, at that point, they, and they alone own the whole thing.
The majority of Americans have indicated that they want a fresh start on health care reform. Not some charade put on by a President who has a habit of speaking half truths and generalities. Maybe it’s time you called your Senators.
