RESPONSE TO MORE MUDD THROWING AT SENATOR BURR FOUND IN MASS EMAILS BY THE DEOMOCRATIC PARTY
Gary Clemmons replies to accusations by Dems about Senator Burr, 8/19/10
Numbers 1,2,4 and 5 are taken out of context of a larger piece of legislation. I am sure what you will find is that the legislation had some bad stuff in it which the Senator did not like.
As to number 3, the unemployment bill he voted against added 26 billion dollars to the deficit.
He was for the alternative bill which extended unemployment benefits if they were paid for by spending cuts in something else. He is opposed to any measure which adds to the deficit and is not paid for.
The Democrats in the Senate earlier passed a "pay as you go" bill, which meant that any new piece of legislation had to be paid for with spending reductions somewhere else. They have waived it now 9 times and continue to add to the budget deficit, which is now 13 trillion dollars, with 3 trillion dollars created in the last 2 years alone. By the way, he did vote to extend unemployment benefits 3 earlier times. Remember, what the other side will do is only tell half the story, because the full story does not help them.
Gary.

Subject: Five things to know about Richard Burr
Richard Burr has spent his 15 years in Washington as a right-wing ideologue -- he's even said that "...it is impossible for any candidate to get to the right of me from an ideological standpoint." Only one-third of North Carolinians approve of the job he's doing -- and many voters still don't know the truth about Senator Burr.
That's why we've put together five facts about Richard Burr that voters need to see before making their decisions in November. Can you help by sharing these facts with five of your friends?
Five facts about Richard Burr:
1) He's received $432,102 in campaign contributions from oil and gas interests to date -- and has said that we have "no option" but to continue pursuing offshore drilling.
2) He strongly opposed the DISCLOSE Act, which would have shed light on the hundreds of millions of dollars corporations and special interests spend to influence elections -- and would have helped to ensure the voices of North Carolinians don't get drowned out by corporate cash.
3) He voted against extending unemployment benefits to 200,000 Americans without jobs -- including 6,500 North Carolinians -- at a time when North Carolina's unemployment rate was nearly 11 percent.
4) He refused to allow top military officials to testify in an important Armed Services Committee hearing -- despite the fact that they'd flown around the world to be in attendance.
5) He vowed to "defund any effort to implement" the health insurance reform bill, which would mean forfeiting $15.4 billion in affordability tax credits to 951,000 North Carolinians and dropping $20 billion in federal Medicaid funding.
We need your help getting the word out. Will you share these facts about Richard Burr with five friends?
Richard Burr will try to keep his seat by flying under the radar and hiding from his bad decisions and big donations. By spreading the truth about his record, you can make sure North Carolinians are armed with the facts this fall.
