Sun Journal Letter to the Editor: A threat approaches…

There are forces at work in our nation’s Capitol that wish to dismantle our Constitution and will do so by bypassing Congress by any means possible.
Perhaps the most dangerous threat to our liberties comes from the United Nations Small Arms treaty which is supported by the Obama administration and Secretary of State Hillary Clinton.
Our Second Amendment reads: “A well regulated Militia, being necessary to the security of a free State, the right of the people to keep and bear Arms, shall not be infringed.” Our Founding fathers lacked trust in any government including our own to respect the rights of free citizens. They placed in the hands of the law abiding individual(s) the means by which to forcefully oppose a tyrannical government in our Nations future, both foreign and domestic.
The Oath of Office for the President of the United States affirms this in these words: “I do solemnly swear (or affirm) that I will support and defend the Constitution of the United States against all enemies, foreign and domestic;”
The U.N. Small Arms Treaty is going to be used to circumvent our Second Amendment and eventually our total Bill of Rights. They believe that a one world government is sovereign whereas Americans believe that the individual is sovereign.
Appearing before the U.N. Small Arms committee last summer, Wayne LaPierre, executive vice president of the NRA, had this to say in regards to the make up of the committee:
“Their member list reads like a who’s who of human rights abusers. I was in New York to testify before this committee. I stood in front of representatives from China, North Korea, Cuba, Syria, Sudan — all those great bastions of freedom.”
Under our laws all treaties must be passed by a 2/3 majority in the Senate; no problem you say! Yet we have a president that just bypassed the Senate when, by Executive Order 13547, ratified the LOST Treaty. A Google search for Law of the Sea Treaty (LOST) ratified by Obama’s Executive Order 13547 will support this.
We live in dangerous times and it’s becoming obvious that elements within our government are out of control. The man in the oval office has no problem side stepping the legislative branch of government when it suits his agenda.
Perhaps Samuel Adams said it best when he wrote, “Let the Constitution never be construed to authorize Congress ... to prevent the people of the United States, who are peaceable citizens, from keeping their own arms.”
A closing thought. America is still a beacon for the rest of the World … proof that ordinary people can be trusted with extraordinary power and that set free, we can live in peace, govern ourselves and control our own fates.

Below is a full list of all taxes that hit Americans, as written into the White House Healthcare Tax. The list is expanded on and explained in the full post over at ATR.
Taxes that took effect in 2010:
1. Excise Tax on Charitable Hospitals (Min$/immediate): $50,000 per hospital if they fail to meet new “community health assessment needs,” “financial assistance,” and “billing and collection” rules set by HHS. Bill: PPACA; Page: 1,961-1,971
2. Codification of the “economic substance doctrine” (Tax hike of $4.5 billion). This provision allows the IRS to disallow completely-legal tax deductions and other legal tax-minimizing plans just because the IRS deems that the action lacks “substance” and is merely intended to reduce taxes owed. Five Reasons Why the Obamacare Decision Might Not Be As Bad As You Think
Ever since the shocking ruling by the Supreme Court today that labeled Obamacare’s highly controversial individual mandate a “tax” was handed down, conservatives have been reacting with a mixture of depression and cold fury, especially toward the man who made it possible, Chief Justice John Roberts. Branded a “coward” in some corners, and a traitor by many, Roberts has been relentlessly criticized for a decision which many see as eroding the last obstacle to an overpowered government, and which certainly has the potential to do just that if the political philosophy that has so dominated the current administration continues unabated.
However, sympathetic though we are to these admittedly weighty fears of increased state power, we think one fact may have been a bit obscured by this response – this is still a decision by John Roberts. And John Roberts is still a Bush appointee, with a judicial philosophy that makes hardcore judicial liberals cringe, albeit a little less now. As such, since the decision was released, a steady drumbeat of commentary has gone up from everyone from Reason Magazine to Charles Krauthammer to Erick Erickson to George Will to even Ken Cuccinelli, one of the people who lost in the case, claiming the decision might be a sleeper victory. With a list of people like that believing they’ve secretly won, we figure we owe it to them to at least try to sum up the case for the Obamacare case being a success. American Thinker: The Chief Justice Done Good
Chief Justice John Roberts has handed a remarkable victory to American conservatives by threading the judicial needle with perfect precision. The initial disappointment collectively felt by Americans who had hoped for a Supreme Court ruling that would overturn Obamacare soon will be replaced, upon further reflection, by the excitement that will come with a fuller appreciation of what the Chief Justice has wrought. First, almost completely unnoticed, the Chief Justice voted with his four conservative colleagues in drawing an unprecedented red line against Washington wielding the Constitution's Commerce Clause in the future to justify federal intrusion into the personal lives of Americans. This decision will restrict American Presidents and future Congresses for a generation and more.

NC TEA PARTY PATRIOTS: SCOTUS UPHELD OBAMACARE--DON'T BE FOOLED

Please do not be fooled! Obama care is harmful to Americans health. It will transfer ALL medicare patients under 133% of poverty level off Medicare which they paid for when they worked and switch them to Medicaid which will let you die if you have cancer or another catasrophic ilness.
All Veterans on VA health care based on need will also be transferred to medicaid. The forces that crafted this law are dark. It was Tom Daschel's brainchild to slip into another spending bill unoticed and pass a law that will limit coverage of sicknesses that are still present today so the Pharmacutical industry can slow down on research and development, expected to slow down the rising costs of prescriptions. And this bill is designed to get Americans to come to he understanding that we should be prepared to die with illnesses that are currently treated because with the baby boom generation getting old and retiring. Spending per patient at the current level will bankrupt America. They want us to accept death with age like they have done in Europe. hundreds of thousands of people throughout Europe are euthanized each year.
The most money per patient will be spent on people between the ages of 15 and 50. Sarah Palins son may not have survived under this bill. Because this legistlation forces self paid insurance to conform to the intent of the law. This makes private insurance conform closer to medicaid rules. The bill cites that the most money 80% will be spent during the last 5 years of life and seeks to control it. Raum Emmanuel's brother was working with the hhs during writing this bill and said that it was a good thing because they could save some money and spend some of the savings on a worthy goal such as the arts. The arts are more important than your life.
The left did not get away with this unoticed because of the Tea Party and other freedom groups spread the word that the heart of this legistlation was not what it appeared to be.
But we still have work to do. We need to turn the executive and both legistative branches of Congress to elect conservatives that will repeal this law in November or the America we know will be changed forever.

Cantor: House will vote on repeal of Obamacare July 11
House Majority Leader Eric Cantor (R-Va.) said Thursday that the Republican-led House will vote on repealing the health care law soon after the July 4 recess. Cantor, who sets the floor schedule in the House, said in a statement that the House will vote on the repeal the week of July 9 – which Cantor said will clear the path for “patient-centered reforms that lower costs and increase choice.”

How did America become the greatest nation in world history...
And why are we losing it? If you missed Dr. Earl Taylor's inspiring presentation on the Constitution last week you really missed something. Dr. Taylor explained what makes America unique in world history, the role the U. S. Constitution, Bill of Rights and Declaration of Independence played in the Making of America and why we are suffering some of the devastation we are suffering today. He laid out a simple, but profound, roadmap for returning America to its once great status.
The session was sponsored by the Beaufort County Committee of Constitutional Studies, the Beaufort Patriot TEA Party and the Eastern N. C. TEA Party. It was hosted by H&R Block at their training facility on 15th Street in Washington.
Dr. Taylor began the seminar by reviewing why America was settled, from Jamestown in 1607 and the Pilgrims in 1620 through the colonial period. But he focused on the Federal period from 1775 to 1830 when the Articles of Confederation were replaced by the formation of the government we now call the United States of America.

It is entirely possible that N. C. House Speaker Thom Tillis is the most unpopular politician in Eastern North Carolina right now. And it seems to be getting worse with each passing day.
For example, in Sunday's (6-24-12) Beaufort County Now, publisher Stan Deatherage took Tillis to task over Tillis getting Congressman Walter B. Jones to endorse "Democrat-running-as-a-Republican" Arthur Williams for the House 6 seat. Stan had previously reported on a flap at the recent GOP State Convention over a flyer that was being handed out that questioned the meddling by state GOP officials/office holders in local GOP primaries. Tillis came out of that flap looking bad when it was reported that he bullied a highly regarded GOP activist on the convention floor. That buzz is not only still around, but appears to be growing as a negative groundswell toward Tillis and other state GOP leaders.
Tillis already had two strikes against him among many GOP leaders in Eastern North Carolina as a result of his pushing a budget through with increased ferry tolls and how his redistricting committee dealt with Bill Cook and other districts Down East in the redistricting process.
A number of delegates to the Third District Convention in May were primed to pin Tillis down as he was scheduled to deliver the keynote address at the Convention. He did not show and did not let anyone know well enough in advance to find a suitable replacement. Similarly, Walter B. Jones did not even attend the Third District Convention, allowing his challenger Frank Palombo to steal the show. At that meeting the Chairman of the Beaufort County GOP Executive Committee gave a report from that group that had adopted a formal protest of Raleigh leaders meddling in local GOP primaries. The report got a resounding applause and reception with numerous other delegations requesting copies. But because the report was too late to be submitted as a formal resolution there was no vote on it taken.

At that meeting the Chairman of the Beaufort County GOP Executive Committee gave a report from that group that had adopted a formal protest of Raleigh leaders meddling in local GOP primaries. The report got a resounding applause and reception with numerous other delegations requesting copies. But because the report was too late to be submitted as a formal resolution there was no vote on it taken.

I was going to write this story anyway: not because I want the success of one candidate over the other - even though I intuitively knew that I must break with my long standing tradition of never endorsing one Republican over another to lend my strong endorsement for Tea Party favored Mattie Lawson over the Democrat Arthur Williams here in the Republican primary runoff - but because there is foul stench forming heavy in this eastern North Carolina that must be vented. I pray these few good words do lend just a spritz of fresh air to assuage a small part of this foul aroma wafting from Beaufort County back to Raleigh, and possibly all about this 3rd Congressional District in North Carolina, and moreover, I also pray that you (our readership) now listen to others, think for yourselves, and find whatever whiff of fresh air that is still yet breathable, and get thyself in gear to do what will be right.
Furthermore, for the sake of complete fairness, if any or all of the mentioned parties in this post feel that this information is misrepresented, BCN will afford them equal space to refute all allegations. This represents our ongoing commitment to fairness whereby we may all arrive at what is true, so we can all do what is right to rid the air of this most unsuitable political stench.

AMERICANS FOR PROSPERITY--Too Good to be True: S.3085
We’re often told that if something sounds too good to be true, it probably is.
That’s definitely the case with the President’s new housing plan, which he has been pushing lately along with allies Robert Menendez (D-NJ) and Barbara Boxer (D-CA) in the Senate.
Supporters argue that by making just a few tweaks in the mortgage markets, they can help up to 3 million homeowners refinance at today’s low mortgage rates. This, they claim, will save the average person $3,000 per year—all at no cost to taxpayers.
What they’re conveniently forgetting is that whenever the feds step in and rewrite mortgage contracts to favor homeowners, those on the other side of the contract (investors) get hurt. And it’s not just “fat cat” bankers that face losses, but pension funds, money market accounts, and mutual funds, too—where middle class Americans put away savings to buy that new house or fund their retirement.
Taxpayers will also be hit hard because the Federal Reserve, Fannie Mae, Freddie Mac, and state and local governments are likewise big investors in these mortgage contracts. In other words, as with all government “stimulus” programs, this one will fail because the government can’t create new money in the economy out of thin air. Instead, they just shift it around (inefficiently, we might add).
Even if you buy the “stimulus” argument, past experience shows us this plan will do little good. This would be the President’s sixteenth attempt to fix the housing markets since he started tinkering in March 2009. Nearly all of those programs had underwhelming results, and house prices have actually continued to fall since that time.
When will the President and his friends on the Left realize that the best path forward is to get the government out of the way and let the housing market heal?

Voter Integrity Project Names North Carolina’s Top Ten List of Fraud-Friendly Counties
(Raleigh, NC)--Voter Integrity Project of North Carolina released the results, today, of their ground-breaking research to pinpoint the top ten NC counties at greatest risk for potential voter fraud via identity theft .
“One of the easiest ways to commit election fraud is to borrow the identity of a person long enough to vote in that person’s place,” said Jay DeLancy, a voting-rights activist. “If the victim is deceased, the entire process is virtually risk-free.”
Realizing this loophole in the North Carolina election laws, DeLancy’s group, Voter Integrity Project of NC (VIP-NC), conducted database research to identify the counties with the highest likelihood of deceased residents still on their voter rolls.
“We did this by matching Census data on ‘voter-age population’ against the number of registered voters living in each county,” he said. “Some counties have so many people registered that it warrants further investigation.”
Exactly what kind of investigation VIP-NC will conduct is not yet clear since much of the identifying information they need is being withheld from public scrutiny because of strict confidentiality laws in North Carolina.
“We started with public information and attempted to match the names, last known address and predicted age against North Carolina’s record of deceased residents,” he said, “but we can only go so far without things like date of birth or NCDL number, which are considered state secrets in North Carolina.”
VIP-NC suggests that the SBOE could pro-actively perform this process with more accuracy because they have access to the critical identifying information, but DeLancy is concerned that the SBOE does not have the will to do so.
“Ensuring election integrity doesn’t appear to be very important to that organization’s leadership,” DeLancy said. “Their Executive Director, Gary Bartlett, is appointed and not elected and this makes him more accountable to the Governor than to the voters.”
According to VIP-NC’s website (www.VoterIntegrityProject.com), the group says that a photo-ID law would mitigate many of the potential risks of voter-identity fraud, but a bill requiring such a measure was defeated by Democrats when the Legislature attempted to override Governor Perdue’s veto. The NC GOP leadership says they need just four Democrats to override the veto.
VIP-NC calls itself “non-partisan” and says that “protecting the ballot box should be less of a partisan issue and more of a constitutional one,” but their leader refuses to ignore the partisan sides taken in North Carolina’s recent battle over requiring citizens to prove their identity before being allowed to vote.
“The single party that has had total control of North Carolina’s entire electoral system for more than 100 years has stood thick as thieves to block real voter ID,” DeLancy said, “but with every vote fraud news story we see nationwide, it gets harder and harder to believe their assurances that North Carolina is somehow immune from vote fraud.”
Wake County Board of Elections will hold a hearing Tuesday, June 26, at 2:00 P.M. in response to VIP-NC’s official challenge of 553 registered voters, who they allege, are not US citizens. VIP-NC filed the challenges after discovering the names of people who were summoned for jury duty but were eventually self-disqualified by claiming they were not US citizens.

Dear Commissioners Dacey, Mark, Taylor, Tyson, Allen, Sampson, & McCabe,
We have often thought differently from each other. Whether we agree or not, I'd like for you to understand my view of good government.
As you know, I'm a member of the Coastal Carolina Taxpayers Association (CCTA), and we espouse smaller, less expensive government, freeing up free enterprise, personal freedom with personal responsibility, and adherence to the Constitution. Those aren't just ideas we talk about; they are deeply held convictions.
We want government that creates an environment in which all our citizens can realize their full potential, or not, as they choose. Everyone needs equal opportunity. There will never be equal results. Some of us choose to excel. Some of us would rather "hang out" and do as little as possible. Fine. Each choice leads to a natural outcome. Let it be so. Choices lead to consequences. What must be guaranteed is opportunity, and only opportunity. No more. No less.
It's pretty easy to see that approach as fair for all citizens who are able in body and mind, but what about those who cannot take care of themselves? Should government step in to look after them?
You gentlemen have clearly answered, "Yes," on multiple occasions. My answer is an emphatic, "No!"
As I've explained before, when government takes from one person to give to another, that is stealing. My rationale is that I don't have the right to take from one neighbor (under threat of force) in order to give to another (less fortunate) neighbor; no one in our country does. Therefore, we the people could not possibly have conveyed that right to our government. Hence, government does not have a legitimate right to behave in that way.
Are the unfortunate among us deserving of charity? Most certainly. Let the private sector handle it. For much of my life, it was handled that way, and it was handled well. Family is the natural first line of defense, followed by friends, churches, and philanthropic organizations.
I feel real anger when my elected representatives wrest hard earned money from taxpayers in order to give it to individuals or small groups of individual people. It is wrong. All taxpayer monies spent should have the potential to benefit all citizens.
Then there's the question of giving raises to our county employees when the people providing the funds are seeing the value of their assets go down (by about 40% nationwide), are loosing their jobs or are worried about it, are not getting COLAs if they are on fixed income retirements, and are seeing the incomes from their businesses declining at alarming rates. These people are the Craven County taxpayers you represent. They need and want to pay less taxes. Instead, you are asking them to pay the same, or more, in order to give county employees raises. Please remember whom you represent, and show some concern for our financial well being.
In the current economy, the only acceptable sign that county employees need raises would be if they were quitting in significant numbers, or if, when county jobs were advertised, not enough qualified applicants came forward to fill them. This is not the case, is it?
Quite frankly, I want representatives at all levels of government who, when faced with a proposal for spending taxpayers' money, will ask themselves first, "Is this an appropriate activity for government and an appropriate use of tax dollars?" I want representatives who, if the answer is, "No," will vote against the proposal no matter how worthwhile the project, and no matter what level the taxpayer funds are coming from. "If we don't spend it, someone else will," is a cop out. Right is right, and wrong is wrong. It's time to take a stand.
I believe we the people should make it our mission to find and support representatives who will stand with us and help us get back to good government so that all who want to can thrive in peace and freedom.

Americans are enjoying many of our traditional summer pastimes. We are watching and playing baseball, going to the pool and some Americans can still take vacations.
While we try to enjoy this summer, could we be looking at the last American summer?

Supreme Court upholds key part of Arizona immigration law, strikes down rest
The Supreme Court upheld a key part of Arizona's tough anti-illegal immigration law in a 5-3 decision on Monday that allows police officers to ask about immigration status during stops. That part of the law, which never went into effect because of court challenges, will now immediately be enforced in Arizona.
Other parts of the law, including a provision that Public Schools (& Here’s the History) made it a state crime for illegal immigrants to seek work, will remain blocked, as the justices affirmed the federal government's supremacy over immigration policy.
Justice Anthony Kennedy, the court's swing vote, wrote the opinion, and was joined by Chief Justice John Roberts, Ruth Bader Ginsburg, Stephen Breyer and Sonia Sotomayor. Conservative Justices Antonin Scalia, Samuel Alito and Clarence Thomas partially dissented, saying the entire law should have been upheld.

10 Things That Will Happen If Barack Obama Continues To Systematically Legalize Illegal Immigration
Barack Obama seems completely obsessed with systematically legalizing illegal immigration. The United States borders a failed narco-state that is one of the most crime-ridden nations on the entire planet, but Barack Obama refuses to secure the border and the consequences for the American people have been absolutely catastrophic. Right now it is already costing us tens of billions of dollars a year to provide welfare for illegal immigrants and to educate their children in our public schools. Right now illegal immigrants are already working millions of jobs that should belong to American workers. Right now Mexican drug cartels are already active in more than 1,000 U.S. cities. But apparently that is not good enough for Barack Obama. He wants to roll out the red carpet and give the green light to tens of millions more illegal immigrants. Last year, Obama issued a list of 19 factors for government officials to use when deciding whether to use "prosecutorial discretion" in deportation cases. In essence, under that new set of rules criminals and "national security threats" were to be deported and virtually everyone else was to be allowed to stay. But now Barack Obama has taken things to a whole new level. Now, if you are under the age of 30, came to the United States under the age of 16 and have lived here for at least five years you will be able to apply for legal status and a work permit. With the election less than 6 months away it is obvious that Barack Obama is pandering for votes. But this kind of "banana republic politics" is only going to divide America even more deeply and is going to result in some very serious pain for this nation in the years ahead.
How close do you think officials are going to check to see if people applying for this new amnesty are really under the age of 30 or really have been in this country for at least five years?
As I have written about previously, illegal immigrants lie to the IRS all the time. Every year they file hordes of fraudulent tax returns that result in them receiving 4 billion dollars in tax refunds that they are not entitled to.
So if they are willing to even lie to the IRS, then why wouldn't they lie about when they came to the U.S. or about how long they have been here?
For a long time Barack Obama has supported "sanctuary cities" for illegal immigrants, but now he has essentially turned the entire country into a "sanctuary city". Our immigration laws are still on the books, but everyone knows that Obama is not going to enforce the vast majority of them.
And that is really sad. The United States will always need immigration, but the way that we do things today is really stupid. We make legal immigration an absolute nightmare, but we leave the back door completely wide open for anyone that wants to break the rules and come in illegally. So those that would like to come in legally and do things the right way are greatly discouraged from doing so while criminals, drug dealers, gang members, welfare parasites and those willing to survive in the underground economy are given the green light to come on over any time they would like.
Our immigration system makes no sense whatsoever and now Obama has just made things a whole lot worse.
The following are 10 things that will happen if Barack Obama continues to systematically legalize illegal immigration....
#1 There Will Be Fewer Jobs For American Workers
In the United States today, 53 percent of all college graduates under the age of 25 are either unemployed or underemployed. Many of them are absolutely desperate for work.
Overall, there are more than 100 million working age Americans that do not have jobs right now.
Meanwhile, millions of illegal immigrants are occupying jobs that could otherwise be held by American citizens. Many employers prefer to hire illegals because they work for a lot less money.
Sadly, many prominent politicians actually support the "right" of these "undocumented workers" to steal our jobs as a recent article by Devvy Kidd pointed out....
In April 2008, the very popular, New Jersey Gov. Chris Christie, prostituted himself during a speech for votes at an event sponsored by the Latino Leadership Alliance of New Jersey by assuring his audience illegal aliens were not really here illegally, but were simply “undocumented.”
The 'unofficial' number of unemployed Americans is close to 25 MILLION. Those "undocumented" criminals Gov. Christie refers to are illegally holding 11.5 MILLION jobs that belong to Americans and naturalized citizens. Shame on you, Gov. Christie for thumbing your nose at our federal immigration laws and encouraging even more criminals to break into our country. Roll out the welcome mat. Unemployment in New Jersey is holding at a steady 9.3%. Gov. Christie apparently doesn't care if jobs go to illegal aliens instead of legal citizens in his state. After all, they're simply "undocumented".
#2 Wages For American Workers Will Continue To Decline
When you have a lot more workers competing for the same number of jobs, what happens?
That is right - wages go down.
We are seeing this happen in industry after industry.
For example, several decades ago a roofer could live a nice middle class lifestyle and support an entire family on one income.
But today that is no longer the case.
So what has changed?
A flood of illegal labor has entered the marketplace.
#3 Illegal Immigrants Will Overwhelm Our Welfare System
Every year, illegal immigrants receive tens of billions of dollars in welfare payments. They get free food assistance, free housing assistance, free health care benefits and free education for their children. Life is good if you are an illegal immigrant and you know how to game the system.
In fact, many cities in United States now openly advertise that they will help illegal immigrants with these things.
Unfortunately, according to Devvy Kidd the cost to taxpayers is getting to be astronomical....
Last year alone, the cost to taxpayers of LA County was whopping $600 MILLION dollars in welfare for children of illegal aliens. I guess it doesn't bother the people there getting fleeced in taxes to pay for all that welfare because they continue to elect governors who refuse to lock down the border and sympathizers of the invasion across the southern border of California to their legislature.
Overall, it has been estimated that U.S. taxpayers spend $12,000,000,000 a year on primary and secondary school education for the children of illegal immigrants.
#4 Mexican Drug Cartels Will Establish A Presence In Nearly Every City In The United States
Mexican drug cartels continue to expand their influence inside the United States at a frightening pace. They are slowly taking over our communities. How far do things have to go before we say enough is enough?
The amount of money that Mexican drug cartels bring in from selling drugs inside the United States is absolutely staggering....
In the sober reckoning of the RAND Corporation, for instance, the gross revenue that all Mexican cartels derive from exporting drugs to the United States amounts to only $6.6 billion. By most estimates, though, Sinaloa has achieved a market share of at least 40 percent and perhaps as much as 60 percent, which means that Chapo Guzmán’s organization would appear to enjoy annual revenues of some $3 billion — comparable in terms of earnings to Netflix or, for that matter, to Facebook.
Can you imagine that?
We are talking about serious money.
And Mexican drug cartels are not just operating in huge cities such as Los Angeles, Chicago and New York. The truth is that they have become deeply embedded in many rural communities as well....
News of cartel machinations are common in cities near the border, such as Phoenix, and the far-flung drug hubs of New York, Chicago or Atlanta, but smaller towns bring business, too. In unsuspecting suburbs and rural areas, police are increasingly finding drugs, guns and money they can trace back to Mexican drug organizations.
The numbers could rise in coming years. The Justice Department's National Drug Intelligence Center estimates Mexican cartels control distribution of most of the methamphetamine, heroin and marijuana coming into the country, and they're increasingly producing the drugs themselves.
In 2009 and 2010, the center reported, cartels operated in 1,286 U.S. cities, more than five times the number reported in 2008. The center named only 50 cities in 2006.

The list of recipients of farm bill subsidies is long and sometimes laughable. There's money to study the healthfulness of peas and lentils. There are programs that support popcorn producers and winemakers. There's even a subsidy to encourage bird watching. "I know that mothers all over America, that have advocated for their children to eat their peas, will be pleased to know that there is a study that is going to cost them $25 million to study peas, lentils and garbanzo beans," Sen. John McCain deadpanned on the Senate floor last week.

Barack Obama’s Totalitarian Plan to Destroy Free Speech
Obama's chief political adviser, Alinskee radical David Axelrod, said on national TV that they plan to change the First Amendment.
Mr. Obama doesn't like Freedom of Speech the way it currently works, so if he wins a second term, he wants to remove some of the protections that it holds for all of us. And can you guess what conveniently happens right around the time that these new rules will kick in?
Not content to simply ram legislation down the throats of Americans without the input of Congress, King Barack Obama the First (and hopefully the Last) has now openly announced that the First Amendment to the Constitution needs to be amended. His main radical adviser said on national television that they want to do away with free speech provisions in the Bill of Rights, in order to silence the opponents of hope and change. That’s you, by the way, if you’re reading this and all of us here at the Beat Obama Committee. We can’t stress enough how serious this issue really is.

Firefighters, Teachers and Police - Not a Federal Responsibility

The left wants us to believe that paying for teachers, firefighters and police is a federal responsibility. Not so. Such services have traditionally been the responsibility of state and local governments.
In Federalist 45, James Madison wrote that the powers of the federal government are “few and defined.” Madison argued that state power extends to issues that “concern the lives, liberties, and properties of the people, and the internal order, improvement, and prosperity of the State.” Nowhere in the Constitution is the federal government given the explicit power to supplant the traditional police powers of the states.
Article 1, Section 8 of the Constitution enumerates powers granted to the federal government. Nowhere does it list the power to “bail out the states who come up short in paying for firefighters, police and teachers.” Furthermore, when the feds “give” lesser governments money to pay for local responsibilities, they often attach conditions to funding that may be unconstitutional.
The 10th Amendment states “the powers not delegated to the United States by the Constitution, nor prohibited by it to the States, are reserved to the States respectively, or to the people.” The educating of children, the protection of the populace from crime and the suppression of fires are clearly powers reserved to the states.
Last week, the Left hit Republican presidential hopeful Mitt Romney with the supposedly shaming accusation that he wants to cut funding for these state and local functions. They went into a tizzy when Romney remarked that “teachers and firemen and policemen are hired at the local level and also by states. The Irish Slave Trade – The Forgotten “White” Slaves--The Slaves That Time Forgot

They came as slaves; vast human cargo transported on tall British ships bound for the Americas. They were shipped by the hundreds of thousands and included men, women, and even the youngest of children.
Whenever they rebelled or even disobeyed an order, they were punished in the harshest ways. Slave owners would hang their human property by their hands and set their hands or feet on fire as one form of punishment. They were burned alive and had their heads placed on pikes in the marketplace as a warning to other captives.
We don’t really need to go through all of the gory details, do we? After all, we know all too well the atrocities of the African slave trade. But, are we talking about African slavery?
King James II and Charles I led a continued effort to enslave the Irish. Britain’s famed Oliver Cromwell furthered this practice of dehumanizing one’s next door neighbor.
The Irish slave trade began when James II sold 30,000 Irish prisoners as slaves to the New World. His Proclamation of 1625 required Irish political prisoners be sent overseas and sold to English settlers in the West Indies. By the mid 1600s, the Irish were the main slaves sold to Antigua and Montserrat. At that time, 70% of the total population of Montserrat were Irish slaves.
Ireland quickly became the biggest source of human livestock for English merchants. The majority of the early slaves to the New World were actually white.
From 1641 to 1652, over 500,000 Irish were killed by the English and another 300,000 were sold as slaves. Ireland’s population fell from about 1,500,000 to 600,000 in one single decade. Families were ripped apart as the British did not allow Irish dads to take their wives and children with them across the Atlantic. This led to a helpless population of homeless women and children. Britain’s solution was to auction them off as well.
During the 1650s, over 100,000 Irish children between the ages of 10 and 14 were taken from their parents and sold as slaves in the West Indies, Virginia and New England. In this decade, 52,000 Irish (mostly women and children) were sold to Barbados and Virginia. Another 30,000 Irish men and women were also transported and sold to the highest bidder. In 1656, Cromwell ordered that 2000 Irish children be taken to Jamaica and sold as slaves to English settlers.

Campaign solicits foreigners to register to vote
'Their citizenship is not something … we would not have any way of knowing that'
A nationwide voter-registration effort encouraging participation by minorities effectively is encouraging noncitizens to vote.
The Washington, D.C.-based Voter Participation Center is using large mailing lists from commercial and nonprofit organizations to send voter registration forms to people they believe have been underrepresented in the political process.
The VPC’s website openly says its focus is on minority women and the unmarried.
“The mission of the VPC is to boost the civic engagement of unmarried women, people of color and 18-29 year olds – the three demographic groups who comprise the Rising American Electorate,” the VPC says.
“These Americans make up 53 percent of the voting-eligible population and are responsible for almost all of the U.S. population growth in recent years, but were only 42 percent of the 2010 electorate and 47 percent in 2008,” the organization explains.
However, noncitizens are also receiving the forms, which worries legal analysts and voter groups like Grassfire Nation that are campaigning for voter ID laws.
VPC Chief Operating Officer Gail Kitch said the potential for voter fraud and citizenship status is not the group’s concern.
“That’s not really the issue,” she said. “I couldn’t answer that question based on the level at which we’re involved. I mean, their citizenship is not something … we would not have any way of knowing that.”
Kitch added that her organization is relying on the integrity of those who receive the applications.
“I think the person themselves, the person who is receiving the form, has the obligation. We’re just sending the form; we’re not even registering people to vote,” she said.
“This is not issue we’re addressing,” she said. “In other words, is this person actually a U. S. citizen?”
Citizenship status is an issue for many Americans, and even some non-U. S. citizens who have received the mailing.
A Japanese permanent legal resident of the U. S. who received a VPC application, and who asked not to be named, says she was surprised to get the mailing.
“Why did they send this to me unless they want me to illegally register to vote?” the Japanese woman asked.
“I’ve been turned down for jury duty after returning the summons with the noncitizen block checked,” she said. “The city’s census records that I’m not an American citizen.”
“What other reason could they have for still sending me the application unless they’re hoping I’ll register anyway?” she asked. “They’re encouraging people to cheat, and this is only going to corrupt the process and make honest elections almost impossible.”
The Japanese woman’s statements raise the issue of how the Voter Participation Center gets its names.
The group’s website says it has a huge pool of names to draw from for the mail effort. Kitch said they get the lists from “vendors.”
“We don’t have a database; we acquire names from lists that are provided by vendors,” she said. “The folks we get the names from are commercial list vendors – the kind of folks who do the Publishers Clearing House.”
She added, “We work with people who have names who would fit within the groups we’re talking about, the Rising American Electorate. As far as folks being registered, our vendors are always checking so we are relying on our list vendors, and we’re doing what we can, to do what they can to make sure as much as possible the registration status of anyone we’re mailing to.”
The group’s “State and National Partner’s” page lists groups that are working with the VPC in the voter drive.
“The VPC also has a variety of national partners including, the League of Conservation Voters Education Fund (LCVEF), Project Vote, US Action Education Fund and the NAACP,” the website said.
Among the state partners is a Colorado-based group, Colorado C3 Roundtable, and Wisconsin’s Voices.
However, Kitch would not say if her group is concerned about whether noncitizens can return the forms.
“I appreciate this, but that question is so far beyond anything I can imagine. I guess the hypothetical thing brings me up a bit short,” Kitch said.
The organization was involved in a registration solicitation controversy during the last presidential election.
At the time, Page Gardner, identified by Voter Participation as its founder, wrote about robocalls that were made to North Carolina residents who had been sent voter registration applications.
“These calls were our sincere attempt to encourage voter registration for those not registered for the general election this fall,” Gardner said. “We understand North Carolina’s primary registration effort deadline was April 11, (other than those participating in early voting who may register and vote at the same time this week). We apologize for any confusion our calls may have caused. Our intent and purpose was solely to call attention to the registration applications we hope will be completed and returned to the Board of Elections office making thousands more North Carolinians participants in one of the most important elections of our lifetimes.”

However, noncitizens are also receiving the forms, which worries legal analysts and voter groups like Grassfire Nation that are campaigning for voter ID laws.
VPC Chief Operating Officer Gail Kitch said the potential for voter fraud and citizenship status is not the group’s concern.
“That’s not really the issue,” she said. “I couldn’t answer that question based on the level at which we’re involved. I mean, their citizenship is not something … we would not have any way of knowing that.”
Kitch added that her organization is relying on the integrity of those who receive the applications.
“I think the person themselves, the person who is receiving the form, has the obligation. We’re just sending the form; we’re not even registering people to vote,” she said.
“This is not issue we’re addressing,” she said. “In other words, is this person actually a U. S. citizen?”
Citizenship status is an issue for many Americans, and even some non-U. S. citizens who have received the mailing.
A Japanese permanent legal resident of the U. S. who received a VPC application, and who asked not to be named, says she was surprised to get the mailing.
“Why did they send this to me unless they want me to illegally register to vote?” the Japanese woman asked.
“I’ve been turned down for jury duty after returning the summons with the noncitizen block checked,” she said. “The city’s census records that I’m not an American citizen.”
“What other reason could they have for still sending me the application unless they’re hoping I’ll register anyway?” she asked. “They’re encouraging people to cheat, and this is only going to corrupt the process and make honest elections almost impossible.”
The Japanese woman’s statements raise the issue of how the Voter Participation Center gets its names.
The group’s website says it has a huge pool of names to draw from for the mail effort. Kitch said they get the lists from “vendors.”
“We don’t have a database; we acquire names from lists that are provided by vendors,” she said. “The folks we get the names from are commercial list vendors – the kind of folks who do the Publishers Clearing House.”
She added, “We work with people who have names who would fit within the groups we’re talking about, the Rising American Electorate. As far as folks being registered, our vendors are always checking so we are relying on our list vendors, and we’re doing what we can, to do what they can to make sure as much as possible the registration status of anyone we’re mailing to.”
The group’s “State and National Partner’s” page lists groups that are working with the VPC in the voter drive.
“The VPC also has a variety of national partners including, the League of Conservation Voters Education Fund (LCVEF), Project Vote, US Action Education Fund and the NAACP,” the website said.
Among the state partners is a Colorado-based group, Colorado C3 Roundtable, and Wisconsin’s Voices.
However, Kitch would not say if her group is concerned about whether noncitizens can return the forms.
“I appreciate this, but that question is so far beyond anything I can imagine. I guess the hypothetical thing brings me up a bit short,” Kitch said.
The organization was involved in a registration solicitation controversy during the last presidential election.
At the time, Page Gardner, identified by Voter Participation as its founder, wrote about robocalls that were made to North Carolina residents who had been sent voter registration applications.
“These calls were our sincere attempt to encourage voter registration for those not registered for the general election this fall,” Gardner said. “We understand North Carolina’s primary registration effort deadline was April 11, (other than those participating in early voting who may register and vote at the same time this week). We apologize for any confusion our calls may have caused. Our intent and purpose was solely to call attention to the registration applications we hope will be completed and returned to the Board of Elections office making thousands more North Carolinians participants in one of the most important elections of our lifetimes.”

EPA Defines Ditch As Navigable Waterway In Attempt to Grab Power Over Land Owners
The Environmental Protection Agency has been exercising its muscle in trying to take control of virtual all water supplies in the United States, including those on private property.
In the process, they are making it difficult to near impossible for land owners to use their property if the EPA finds as much as a bucket of water on it.
In the western US, numerous land owners and municipalities have been told they can no longer use their wells for water as they are tied into groundwater that may drain into a stream, river or lake elsewhere. Tombstone, Arizona is a prime example of how the EPA and the Obama administration have cut off the town’s main water supply.
Now the EPA is using the Clean Water Act to seize control of lands throughout the country, often in violation of law and the Supreme Court. In the early 2000’s, John Rapanos wanted to build a shopping mall on his land in Michigan. Some of the land was swampy, so he drained it and filled it in so he could build. Even though he was 20 miles away from a waterway that was designated as ‘waters of the United States’, the EPA told Rapanos that his property was navigable because it was connected to a tributary that flowed in to the waters of the US. They levied millions of dollars in fines against him and ordered him to return the land to its original state.

Obama Intends To Exempt Multinational Corporations From US Laws
A leaked document reflects that the Obama administration is negotiating an international agreement to allow multinational corporations, operating inside the U.S., to be exempt from many US laws.
And it gets worse. The agreement sets up an international tribunal to decide which U.S. laws the multinational corporations can ignore.
The agreement is called the Trans-Pacific Partnership (“TPP”). The negotiations surrounding the TPP have been shrouded in extreme secrecy. That’s outraged members of Congress from both sides of the aisle: Sen. Ron Wyden (D-Ore.) has been so incensed by the lack of access as to introduce legislation requiring further disclosure. House Oversight Committee Chairman Darrell Issa (R-Calif.) has gone so far as to leak a separate document from the talks on his website. Other Senators are considering writing a letter to Ron Kirk, the top trade negotiator under Obama, demanding more disclosure.

Lori Wallich, head of Public Citizen’s Global Trade Watch stated yesterday that Via closed-door negotiations, U.S. officials are rewriting swaths of U.S. law that have nothing to do with trade and in a move that will infuriate left and right alike have agreed to submit the U.S. government to the jurisdiction of foreign tribunals that can order unlimited payments of our tax dollars to foreign corporations that don’t want to comply with the same laws our domestic firms do.
