After the SBI crime lab scandal and the
outrageous appointing of Roy Cooper’s lobbyist, a person with no law
enforcement experience to head the SBI, the General Assembly is considering
moving the SBI to the Department of Public Safety, a move considered for years
by Republicans and Democrats.
Cooper apparently released information
about an investigation into a political donor who may have broken campaign
finance laws. Cooper’s staff seemed leave the impression that
some of Coopers political opponents may have done something wrong, although
there is no apparent factual basis for that allegation and little likelihood
under existing campaign finance law.

#NCSEN: Harris campaign challenging narrative of Tillis inevitability

There’s been quite a bit of suspicion for some time thatCharlotte
pastor Mark Harris’ Senate campaign was merely a stalking horse to peel Tea
Party votes away from Greg Brannon. Harris labels himself a
conservative — like Thom Tillis does. But he’s named
former congressman, NCGOP chairman and Ripon Society fanboy Robin Hayes as
his campaign chairman. Hayes’ longtime political strategist, Tom Perdue,
has also come aboard the Harris effort.
There’s been quite a bit of suspicion for some time that
Observers have been
quick to note how — in forums and other public events — Harris and his
supporters are quick to criticize Tea party favorite Brannon, but are silent on
Thom Tillis, the favorite of Establishment, left-of-center Republicans. In
some forums, Harris has spoken in defense of Tillis on toll roads and other
aspects of the General Assembly’s agenda.
But things appear
to be changing on that front. I’ve seen polling from pros — with
campaigns and unaffiliated — suggesting that Harris appears to be getting a
good chunk of votes in Tillis’ Charlotte-area home base. Perdue, the
Harris strategist, has upped the ante a little bit with some crowing to Roll Call, the DC-based “newspaper of Capitol Hill”:

Binky, The Shih-tzu, and the rest
of their knucklehead mainstream media pals have been piling on Greg Brannon these past few
days — amid giggling from Brannon’s political foes — since that finding from the jury in that civil
case was announced.
Pete Kaliner, an Asheville talk
radio host who used to do some serious reporting in Charlotte , decided to dig a little deeper
into Brannon’s courtroom experience. On Friday, Kaliner devoted an hour to Robert Rice, the CEO of the tech
company at the center of the lawsuit in question. I encourage every one of you
to listen to the full interview (about 40 minutes). I did, and
I learned a few things that I never would have known if I had relied on Binky
and his friends:

administration’s proposed crackdown on tea party and other nonprofit
groups that want to play a role in politics is quietly crumbling as opposition
builds across the political spectrum to new IRS rules.
Almost all of the nearly 70,000 public comments submitted as
of Monday night were vehemently opposed to the proposal, which would limit the
ability of social welfare nonprofits — those organized under 501(c)(4) of the
tax code — to even talk about candidates in the two months before an election.

criticized President Obama for reducing the size of the American military
including plans to reduce the Army to
the smallest force since before World War II.
Cheney pointed out that Obama's plans to cut the military
were "over the top," citing "enormous long-term damage" to
the military.
Cheney said Obama's decision was made for budget reasons,
not any strategic goal.
"He would much rather spend the money on food stamps than
he would a strong military or support for our troops," he said.

A Once Free Nation

has occurred gradually.
Government conquers its citizens with gradualism because few
understand it. Gradualism is imperceptible force.
The first trigger of alert is when a few people come to
understand that government is organized crime and that government is in all-out
war with its own citizens. The central purpose of Personal Liberty

The U.S. Congress has, gradually, ceded its authority to the
President and to the alphabet soup agencies of government that it created or

Last week, John Kerry burned 12 tons of carbon to travel to Indonesia and
declare global warming as the biggest WMD of all. In what has become
the general model of climate-change alarmism, he told his audience that Jakarta would soon be half-submerged thanks to the rising of the oceans
that the election of his boss supposedly stopped. The Chicken Little spectacle
was so embarrassing that Newt Gingrich suggested that Kerry should retire out of
embarrassment, if not national security. “A delusional secretary of state,” Gingrich tweeted, “is dangerous to our safety.”
In the same speech, Kerry referred to climate skeptics as
“Flat Earth Society” holdouts. That caught the attention of the Wall Street Journal and two fellows of the American
Meteorological Society, Professors of Atmospheric Science Richard McNider and
John Christy. Dr. Christy served at one time on the IPCC, the UN body that
pushes anthropogenic climate change as the bogeyman of our time, and shared in
its Nobel Prize along with Al Gore. Christy and McNider, however, teach a
history lesson to Kerry before addressing his shrieking hysteria on global
warming. It was the Flat Earthers who clung to “consensus,” and the skeptics
who turned out to be right:
Popular Medicare Drug Plans Are under Assault
A new Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services (CMS)
proposal would cause almost 14 million seniors to lose their Medicare Part D
stand-alone plans, says Devon Herrick, a senior fellow at the National Center
The Medicare drug program has been popular, and the number
of seniors without drug coverage has fallen 60 percent since the Medicare
Modernization Act (MMA) was passed in 2003. Seniors have a wide range of plans
from which to choose, and drug spending has actually been much lower than
projected. Costs per capita in 2013 were projected to be $3,047 but were
actually only $1,846, a savings of 40 percent per enrollee.
Of the 39 million Americans enrolled in Medicare, 36 million
of them have Medicare Part D drug plans.
