Glenn Beck's Restoring Honor Rally & American Obedience to God
By Jared Law -- Thursday, September 2nd, 2010
Glenn Beck's 8.28: Restoring Honor Rally and the leadup thereto, including America's Divine Destiny, Glenn Beck's program the night before at the Kennedy Center for the Performing Arts, which is available on Glenn Beck's Insider Extreme, along with many 8.28-related video clips (and Beck University, which includes Faith 101, 102, 103; Hope 101, 102, 103, and Charity 101, 102, & 103, in addition to many history lesson-video clips), constitute the greatest assortment of exhortations to do the right thing, to turn to God, to be righteous, outside of any official church function or event, that I have ever witnessed, not to mention a great honoring of America's military heroes. It is a cultural masterpiece, reminding us of the role that Christianity played in the founding of this nation, while at the same time, applying the principles embodied in Natural Law and Nature's God to our current state of affairs in 21st Century America.
The United States of America is the greatest nation on Earth, and no rational, unbiased observer can effectively dispute this fact. We have contributed more to mankind's liberty, to human comfort and actual progress, than any other nation on Earth. Obviously, credit for this goes to God, since HE blessed us with such an inspired form of government as that outlined in The Constitution of the United States of America. God is the One who embedded the Principles of Freedom which are enshrined in the Constitution of the United States of America therein. True, our Founding Fathers share the credit, since they obeyed God, and did what they were inspired to do, but it all goes back to God.
But back to America; I agree with all who argue that Glenn Beck has been inspired by God; he has, by listening to the still, small voice of the Holy Spirit, organized something that the enemies of freedom, embodied and otherwise, simply cannot dismiss, nor can they criticize it, not without condemning themselves as being in open rebellion against God and The United States of America.
Now, after having a few days to ponder what Glenn Beck has accomplished, with Providential Aid, I have come to the conclusion that the Restoring Honor rally an absolute miracle (in this day and age, what Glenn Beck was able to pull off, both in terms of our attendance, the program, the symbolic/historic location and the symbolic/historic date, was unquestionably a miracle). However, it was short-lived if the only thing that happens was a good time had by all, some tears shed, the spirit felt, and a great sigh of relief that we're restoring America.
We MUST continue to work at self-control (self-government), we must continue to become a more truthful nation, we must continue to be more honest with ourselves and our families, our friends, neighbors, and other peers. We must be loyal to our oaths, and more true to our covenants. We must pray more, and for those of us not praying, we must begin to pray multiple times a day. Never eat without blessing your meal, even if it's at Wendy's, In-N-Out, Ruth's Chris, or a local Mexican or Chinese restaurant. Don't be afraid to pray, even in public.
We must do our best to attend our church, if we have one, and if we don't have one, find one. If we attend a church, pay a full tithe. If we don't find one. When you pray at home, with or without your family, pray on your knees. Humble yourselves before your creator. Turn to God, America! If we fail to do so, we will fail to qualify for the Providential Aid we so desperately need!
Remember, we must act as if it all depends on us, and pray as if it all depends on God!
And if we can make the Restoring Honor rally the BEGINNING of a real, deep, broad, complete Third Great American Awakening, then we will have God on our side, and we will have won the battle, on the way to doing our part to win the war. Let's be on God's side; He's on ours if we will let him in!
Now some of you (very few of you, based upon what I've seen so far on our network) don't believe in God. Some of you tolerate us religious folk, and you just don't understand why we choose to believe in a God we cannot see. The answer is Faith. Faith is:
Heb. 11: 1
1 Now faith is the substance of things hoped for, the evidence of things not seen.
What that means is that faith is something we hope for, that we cannot see evidence for. In other words, faith is a choice. It's as simple as choosing to believe that you are more than the product of evolution, more than a descendant of apes and an evolutionary accident, and that there is life after death, and that God does, in fact, exist, and he created the heavens and the Earth, and that you he created your spirit body, and there's more to life than mere accumulation of money and power.
It also means that our Heavenly Father loves us, just as all good Fathers here on Earth do, and that he expects us to do good, he wants us to be happy, and that his commandments are more than a bunch of aphorisms; we will actually be judged based upon how we live our lives, how we strive to keep His commandments, and if we choose to repent and ask to be forgiven our sins, so we can be clean at the Judgment Bar of God after this life.
And since he wants us to be happy, it stands to reason he wants us to be free. It means the Constitution of the United States of America is an inspired document, and it was meant for the protection of ALL MANKIND. Meaning that it was created not only for us, but for all, if their country will, as a nation, choose to adopt a written constitution something like ours, to guarantee their freedoms, as ours are guaranteed.
Our Founding Fathers knew, also, that only a righteous people can be governed by such a Constitution. In fact, John Adams said, on October 11, 1798, that:
"Our Constitution was made only for a moral and religious people. It is wholly inadequate to the government of any other."
And so it is.
The more a nation's people refuse to govern themselves (self control), the more need they have of tyrannical constraints. That is why it is best if we are a moral and a religious people; if we have the constraints that religion and morality place upon us, the Constitution is perfect. If not, more laws, regulations, etc. are required to preserve the rights of potential victims, but then the liberty of all is constrained. Eventually that leads us to where we are now. We never would have allowed ourselves to get in it so deep had we been a more righteous nation before now.
Thank the Lord Almighty for repentance! Now if only...if only every American who had heard of the 8.28 Rally would hold this sacred: Restoring Honor Starts With Me!
May America Turn Back to God, and may God Continue to Bless The United States of America!
