$100,000 fine levied for illegal donations
RALEIGH -- A businessman paid a $100,000 fine Wednesday for his role in funneling illegal donations to the campaigns of Gov. Beverly Perdue and two state senators.
The attorney for Atlantic Corp. owner Rusty Carter handed over a check immediately after the State Board of Elections approved the penalty.
