Contradicting comments by CCTA Member Michael Speciale, New Bern, NC

I find Paul Fields’ comments (“Heated comments,” Jan. 31) to be ludicrous, in light of the fact that his tone-down-the-rhetoric mantra is contradicted by his own words. I also note the drivel about conservative rhetoric and a tie-in with the shooting of Rep. Giffords to be the same liberal tactic; tell a lie often enough and some will believe it.
There is no connection with the shooting and Limbaugh’s, Hannity’s or Palin’s words. Why is it that the writer never talked about toning down the rhetoric when the Democrats were in charge? The level of vitriol, hatred and fiery rhetoric from the left far outpaces what Palin and the right have said.
He talks about references to the right using comments such as “Second Amendment remedies” and the like. The writer should know that the right to keep and bear arms is for the purpose of protecting us from a tyrannical government. While there is no conspiracy, no planned revolution, no government overthrow in the works, freedom-loving Americans will, like our forefathers, defend our liberty with our lives, our fortunes, and our sacred honor. And it is important that our government know and understand this, because it is a lack of understanding this that has allowed them to abridge our liberties thus far.
