Dear CCTA members and friends,
At our Board meeting Monday, we decided to continue the theme of being informed by choosing "The Original Argument, The Federalists' Case for the Constitution" as our next project. The format will be slightly different, more like a book study. No tests, but lots of discussion and an opportunity to firm up our principles even more. We will meet only one day a week. Thursday nights seem to work for most people, so that more than likely will be the choice.
If you, like me, have tried to read The Federalists papers you know it's hard work. This book is adapted for the 21st Century and is much easier to understand. I truly believe it will help us all to get a better understanding of what the Founders were thinking, and the arguments they used to convince the states that they should ratify the Constitution. It obviously worked.
The Constitution is under a strong attack by the left, and the more we understand the Constituion, the better we will be able to defend the principles in it.
My idea is to enlist as many people as possible to be a faciliator for one night, if you so desire. As a conservative I will let each faciliator decide their own format, but the whole idea is to discuss each chapter as much as possible in a two hour period.
I don't think anything CCTA does is more important than educating our members, and I believe we will all learn so much from this study. I urge you to plan on attending. Please reply to Lynn Childs at lynn.ccta@gmail.com or call 252-402-0333, if you would like to attend. If you already own the book, please let us know, otherwise we will order them from Amazon for the best price available, but they will not be expensive. There's no charge for the course, other than the book, some paper for notes and your participation.
