NC FIRE is Organizing a Related Protest on August 6th and 7th

ILLEGAL IMMIGRATION
Dear North Carolina activist,

North Carolinians For Immigration Reform and Enforcement (NCFIRE) tells us that the Association of Mexicans in North Carolina (AMEXCAN) and the consulate general of Mexico will hold an event on August 6th and 7th at the Greenville Convention Center to sell passports, Matricula Consular ID cards, and birth registrations for children born in the United States. It is interesting to note that a U.S. voter registration drive also will held.

The Greenville Convention Center, and by association the Greenville City Council and Pitt County Commission, are wrong to sanction the conduct of an event that gives illegal aliens access to documentation that will make it easier to remain in the U.S. illegally.

Please call the Convention Center, and members of the City Council and County Commission, to express your opposition. Contact information and talking points are included below. Also please email those officials with email addresses below.

Note: NC FIRE and others are organizing a protest during the AMEXCAN/consulate event. If you are interested in participating, it will be held outside the Greenville Convention Center at the corner of Greenville Blvd. and Hooker Rd on Aug. 6th from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. and on Aug. 7th from 8 a.m. to Noon.

Talking Points

I am very upset to hear that the Greenville Convention Center, and by association the City Council and Pitt County Commission, is sanctioning the conduct of an event on August 6th and 7th that gives illegal aliens access to documents that make it easier to remain in the U.S. illegally.

The Association of Mexicans in North Carolina and the consulate general of Mexico are holding the event to sell passports and Matricula Consular ID cards. Only illegal aliens need these documents as proof of identification since legal immigrants, by definition, have U.S. government-issued documents.

The Mexican government has launched an aggressive campaign to distribute documentation and achieve quasi-legal status for Mexican illegal aliens without waiting for action from Washington. Let me be clear. The citizens of Greenville reject all forms of amnesty.

Illegal aliens seeking jobs in the construction, service and other industries directly compete with our unemployed citizens. It is wrong to facilitate their illegal employment, especially when unemployment stands at 9.9 percent.

This event should have never been approved. You should be working to further the interests of legal Greenville residents, not those of illegal aliens and the Mexican government. Please oppose events like this in the future.
