In response to Miss Barbara’s “Clarifying words” in the July 24, 2011 edition, let’s call her letter to the editor what it really is shall we? She should have titled it “Demeaning the Right.”
No matter how hard I try to understand how progressives think, I can’t wrap myself around their incessant need to belittle conservatives. The only thing that rings true is their absolute need to twist truth and logic to gain more support for their ideology.
Miss Barbara threw the race card in Michelle Bachman’s face when she demeaned Bachman for signing the socially conservative pledge by Iowa’s The Family Leader entitled “The Marriage Vow,” which stated in part, “…sadly a child born into slavery in 1860 was more likely to be raised by his mother and father in a two-parent household than was an African-American baby born after the election of the USA’s first African-American president.” TRUE. Bachman by signing the pledge was not condoning slavery or the indignations suffered by slaves. The point The Family Leader was trying to make was a child born into a two-parent home stands a much better chance to succeed, which is true.
If you are going to throw the race card at least tell the truth.
1. Most of our Founding Fathers were against slavery.
2. Well over half of slave families were kept together.
3. The Republican Party is not the racist party as it was born because of and for the Blacks.
4. Democrats passed the Fugitive Slave Act of 1850 whereby slaves were returned to their owners even if they had been free for many years.
5. President Lincoln was not opposed to slavery, had represented slave owners and prosecuted fugitive slaves returning them to their owners.
6. The Thirteenth Amendment to the Constitution in 1865 liberated the slaves, and was passed with 100 percent of Republicans (88 of 88 in the House, 30 of 30 in the Senate) voting for it. Only 23 percent of Democrats (16 of 66 in the House, 3 of 8 in the Senate) voted for liberation of the slaves.
7. Those slaves that had been separated from their families regrouped and put their lives back together.
8. Black men founded the Texas Republican Party July 4, 1867.
9. In 1870, the Fifteenth Amendment passed giving Blacks the right to vote, but get this, Republicans voted 100 percent for it and the Democrats voted 100 percent against its passage!
10. In 1941, President Roosevelt issued Executive Order #8802, which prohibited racial discrimination in the hiring policy of federal contractors. Black voters reciprocated by turning their support to the Democrats. If not for the war, the Democrats would again have done nothing.
11. In the early 60s, 75 percent of Black families were two-parent homes.
12. President Johnson’s War on Poverty was the ruination of the Black family. While discussing the Civil Rights Act of 1964, Johnson said, “I’ll have them niggers voting Democratic for two hundred years.” Johnson’s private behavior toward Blacks was appalling.
13. Today less than 30% of Black families are two-parent homes.
14. Blacks are still slaves. Their masters are the Democrat Party, the NAACP, the Rainbow PUSH Coalition, Media Matters, and the National Urban League.
Miss Barbara dumped on Bachman’s husband by simply saying he attempts to “pray away the gay,” but then refuses to go there. Well, I’ll go there. If God had intended for us to be gay, there wouldn’t have been an Adam and Eve. It would have been Adam and Adam or Eve and Eve and no children of course. My response: remember Sodom and Gomorrah.
Most progressives, like Barbara Harrison are good people and have their hearts in the right place. It’s their ideology that distorts their vision. It’s an ideology that doesn’t allow for responsibility and one that has an excuse for everything except when it comes to the opposing camp of ideas. Take for example when Obama, our Commander-in-Chief pronounced “Corpsman” three times incorrectly or when he said, “I’ve now been in 57 states with… I think one left to go.” Wow! He doesn’t know how to pronounce “Corpsman” and he doesn’t know how many states are in the union, but did Miss Barbara say that he offended the military or call him stupid. No she did not.
Just for the record, President Obama should feel threatened by Bachman. She at least has plenty of “Chutzpah” even if she doesn’t pronounce it correctly.
