CCTA MEETING ANNOUNCEMENT

Public Service Announcement

February 10, 2013

Are your Second Amendment rights important to you? If so, join the Coastal Carolina Taxpayers Association (CCTA) for a timely panel discussion followed by a Q & A with Craven County Sheriff Jerry Monet at CCTA's regular meeting at the Bridgepointe Hotel (just across the Trent from New Bern) at 7 PM on Tuesday, February 19. Sheriff Monet will be joined on the panel by Earl Dail with Sportsman's Toy Store, Bill and Mike Wishon who teach concealed carry and other courses, and Mike Lane with BME Enterprises. The sheriffs of Jones and Pamlico Counties and the police chiefs of New Bern and Trent Woods have also been invited to participate. This will provide a good opportunity to discuss the unique roll county sheriffs play in law enforcement within the county in which they have been elected to serve.

In addition to law enforcement, gun shop owners, instructors of concealed carry classes, CCTA's Chairman, Rick Hopkins, says, "We invite all military personnel and law enforcement officers to attend, join in the debate, and publicly reaffirm their oaths to 'support and defend the Constitution of the United States against all enemies, foreign and domestic'." Anyone concerned about the Second Amendment is welcome.

America's founders were outspoken on the topic. George Washington observed, "A free people ought to be armed." Thomas Jefferson said, "No free man shall ever be debarred the use of arms." And George Mason opined, "To disarm the people is the most effectual way to enslave them."
