IMMIGRATION IS STILL ON THE FRONT BURNER!
With all that's going on in Wisconsin, the immigration issue is alive and well. After reading the following I hope you will contact Congressman Walter Jones at: https://jones.house.gov/ContactForm/default.aspx and urge him to support these bills. Thank you.
Lou
While these bills, when taken together, would not completely fix our nation's immigration ills, they would go a remarkably long way to secure our borders, reduce both legal and illegal immigration, and prevent illegal aliens from living and working in our nation. These bills are:
-- H.R. 692: The Nuclear Family Priority Act. This legislation's main sponsor is Rep. Phil Gingrey and would reform the chain migration system so that only spouses and minor children are automatically given Green Cards when family members immigrate and provides non-work visas for parents.
-- H.R. 800: The E-LAW Act. This legislation's main sponsor is Rep. John Carter and would permanently reauthorize the E-Verify system and oblige all employers to use it on their current and new employees.
-- H.R. 704: The SAFE Act. This legislation's main sponsor is Rep. Bob Goodlatte and would eliminate the visa lottery, which raffles off 50,000 Green Cards each year to would-be immigrants from nations that don't produce a lot of immigrants.
-- H.R. 140: The Birthright Citizenship Act. This legislation's main sponsor is Rep. Steve King and would prevent the children of illegal immigrants from becoming citizens at birth.
-- H.R. 100: The CLEAR Act. This legislation's main sponsor is Rep. Marsha Blackburn and would allow state and local law enforcement agencies to enforce federal immigration laws and oblige the federal government to help localities in this area.
