  1. The negative video about "Obamacare" gives false, misleading information.

Remember, it's political season, and politicians think older people scare easily or believe everything we hear. If you are interested in facts and not just hyperbole, read on.

When you hear about cuts to Medicare, they are not talking about cuts in our benefits. It is true that there will be $500 billion taken out of the Medicare program over a ten year period, but that money does not come out of our benefits. The money will actually be saved from things like: 1) tougher negotiations between Medicare and the managed care plans (Medicare Advantage) with which they contract for our care; and 2) efforts to make the Medicare program more efficient and reduce waste, fraud and abuse.

The Medicare Advantage (private insurance company) plans are being overpaid and getting unwarranted subsidies that don't improve healthcare for seniors.

The "demonstration project" the video speaks of will give bonuses to Medicare Advantage Plans that provide high-quality care to seniors, thus creating an incentive to improve. Government assistance will only be cut to Medicare Advantage plans that are not providing good quality service to seniors at an affordable rate.

So, Seniors, don't believe it when we're told Medicare and Medicare Advantage benefits will be cut. That's political rhetoric to scare us. If Medicare Advantage plans want to remain profitable, they'll have to improve quality & service to Seniors--thanks to the Affordable Care Act.

A few minutes of internet research found the answers. We seniors aren't as gullible as some think.
