Tens, and perhaps hundreds of thousands of Egyptians poured into Cairo's now-famed Tahrir Square on Friday to demand their nation become subject to Sharia Law and form the cornerstone for a new Islamic caliphate.
The unplanned demonstration erupted following Friday prayers at mosques around the Egyptian capital.
The demonstrators, who were led by the increasingly powerful Muslim Brotherhood, demanded that Egypt's interim military regime give way to an intolerant Islamic dictatorship.
Various news media reported the demonstrators shouting and holding up signs reading: "Egypt will return to Sharia Law!", "Liberals and secularists are the enemies of Allah!", and "The solution is Islam!"

Agenda 21 Update: Family Farms Are Under Attack
Is the US government starting to implement the policies of the United Nation’s plan for global management of people and resources known as Agenda 21? The latest efforts out of the Department of Transportation (DOT) seem to indicate this is happening. And they are starting by targeting America’s farming communities with costly and oppressive regulations.

LEGISLATIVE UPDATE JULY 30, 2011
Thanks to the North Carolina Federation of Republican Women for this great update!
July 30, 2011
U.S. Congress
On Jul 29 the House passed Speaker Boehner's bill called the "Budget Control Act of 2011"
(S 627) in a vote of 218 to 210 with 5 not voting. All NC Republican Representatives voted for the bill. All NC Democrat Representatives voted against it, along with 22 Republican Representatives from other states.
"The bill is the House vehicle to raise the debt ceiling, make budget deficit reductions, and require a balanced budget amendment to the Constitution." (House.gov)
The bill moved to the Senate where it was tabled in a vote of 59 to 41. Senator Burr voted against the motion to table the bill, and Senator Hagan voted for it. The debt ceiling and budget deficit reduction discussion will continue in the Senate this weekend.
NC General Assembly
"Restore Confidence in Government" (Voter Photo ID) HB 351 - The previous Legislative Report addressed the last vote taken on the Voter Photo ID bill which was on Jul 26.
However, an earlier vote was held on the same day in which only the override was the subject of the vote. At that time, the bill failed 67 to 52. All Democrats voted against the measure, and Republicans voted for it, except House Majority Leader Paul Stam who voted against the bill so that it could be brought up again for a vote.
Four Democrat votes were needed to attain 72 votes for the override. The bottom line is that the bill is still alive thanks to Republican Leader Stam.

IMMIGRATION (ILLEGAL ALIEN) FACTS
Here are some alarming facts on illegal immigration that James Johnson, of NC FIRE, shared. They are also listed in the video clip I've linked and which will make you fuming mad!
1). There are 23.5 million illegal immigrants in the United States. Just 607,000 are from countries other than Mexico.
2). 79.3% of immigrants who entered the country before 1980 became US citizens. Compare that to the percentage of immigrants who entered the country since 2000 - only 11.8%.
3). Money that illegals have wired back to Mexico since January 2006 - $34.7 billion. Money that illegals have wired to Latin America since 2001 - $293 billion.
4). The cost of social services for illegals since 1996 - $400 billion.
5). The number of children of illegal immigrants in public schools - 5.5 million
6). The cost of educating these children since 2006 (K-12) - $172.2 billion
7). The number of illegals that are incarcerated - 455,614. Multiply each by the cost of incarceration (approximately $30,000 - $40,000). The cost of incarceration for illegals, for just the past 2 years, is $28.6 billion.
8). The number of illegal fugitives in the United States - 779,488
9). According to a recent government accounting data report, approximately 90% of the criminal illegal aliens sentenced in federal court in 2009 were convicted of immigration and drug-related offenses. The average incarcerated illegal alien had 7 arrests and committed an average of 12
offenses. 25% had greater than or equal to 16 offenses. Only 9% had just one arrest.
10). The number of anchor babies born in the US since 2002 -- 5 million
11). 14 million Americans are out of work. 12.3 illegal immigrants currently have skilled jobs (meaning they are employed) !! Illegal immigrants are taking jobs away from American citizens. If we get rid of illegal immigrants, our unemployment situation is solved.
*** Illegal immigration is indeed a direct threat to America on many levels -- our safety, our security, and our economy.
As Kevin Lehmann said: "I have nothing against immigrants who want to come here legally to make a better life for themselves and their families. Hell, my father was a German immigrant. But he did it legally. He didn't look for security breeches in our border and try to usurp the system so he could leech off of hard-working Americans. He joined the Army and became a patriot. He became a hard-working productive citizen. He contributed to the country instead of burdening it."

THOMAS SOWELL: Ideals Versus Realities – Patriot Update
Ideals Versus Realities – Patriot Update
Many of us never thought that the Republicans would hold tough long enough to get President Obama and the Democrats to agree to a budget deal that does not include raising income tax rates. But they did — and Speaker of the House John Boehner no doubt desires much of the credit for that.
Despite the widespread notion that raising tax rates automatically means collecting more revenue for the government, history says otherwise. As far back as the 1920s, Secretary of the Treasury Andrew Mellon pointed out that the government received a very similar amount of revenue from high-income earners at low tax rates as it did at tax rates several times as high.

The Tea Party – It’s Here to Stay
by Diane Rufino, July 29, 2011
It is said that the Tea Party movement started with a rant by Rick Santelli, of CNBC, on the trading floor of CME (Chicago Mercantile Exchange) Group in Chicago on Feb. 19, 2009 but the real truth is that it started even before that.
Of course we all know that the Tea Party movement started many years ago, on December 16, 1773, with a simple act of civil disobedience in rejection of a small tax on tea – “a 3 pence.” On that evening, approximately 100 “radicals” from Boston, members of a secret organization of American Patriots called the Sons of Liberty, dressed up as Mohawk Indians, boarded three East India Company ships, and dumped 342 chests of tea into the Boston Harbor. The Boston Tea Party would have as a direct consequence (albeit in 1775) the firing of the first shots of the Revolutionary War…. and soon, our independence from a tyrannical ruler.
Just as John Adams commented that the American (tax) revolution was in the hearts of the colonists even before a drop of blood was spilled at Lexington – “The Revolution was in the minds and hearts of the people; a change in their religious sentiments of their duties and obligations. This radical change in the principles, opinions, sentiments, and affections of the people, was the real American Revolution” – our current (conservative, tax/spend) revolution has been in the hearts and minds of ordinary hardworking folks even before Barack Obama took office.
Conservative voters were already questioning why banks were being bailed out (Bush signed a $700 billion plan to bail out banks), why were billions of their tax money being spent on government programs, and why were they willingly saddling their children with government debt.
Then when Obama was inaugurated on Jan. 20, 2009, he quickly appointed people (czars) like Larry Summer and Tim Geithner to his team who were all seen as people who were part of the problem. Stephanie Jasky, a paralegal from Detroit, Michigan, chatted: “We were hemorrhaging money. I was looking for answers – I wanted to know what had happened. The more I looked the more it became clear to me that the problem was our government, that the government had become the criminal.” Jasky was one of those citizens who took up the idea of sending her elected officials in the US Congress tea bags as a form of protest. She loved the idea. She bought a box of tea bags and sent one to every member of Congress. She said: “All these bailouts and stimulus packages, that was taking our money and spending it without our permission. Taxation without representation. We thought, didn’t that happen to us in the Revolutionary wars? Hello! Anyone remember King George?”
On February 15, 2009, Keli Carender, a blogger known as “Liberty Belle,” spread the word about a grass-roots protest she was organizing in Seattle to express outrage over the passage of the trillion-dollar stimulus/porkulus/Generational Act of 2009. She was enraged that such a bill passed Congress and especially without much discussion or opposition by Republicans. It was the first time she did any kind of political organizing. She was simply a conservative mother who blogged who never thought she would jump into any political arena. Amazingly, she turned around the event in a few days all on her own by reaching out on the Internet, to her local talk station, and to anyone who would listen.
Also in February, local radio host Leland Conway in Kentucky called on his listeners to send liberal NY Senator Chuck Schumer pork rinds. In response, a mountain of 1,500 bags poured into the station on February 16 and was shipped to Schumer. Conway idea was motivated by Schumer’s arrogant statement that only the “chattering classes” cared about the “teeny, tiny” pork amendments in the Generational Theft Act.
On February 18, 500 fed-up taxpayers showed up in Mesa, AZ to oppose President Obama’s plans to expand the government’s mortgage entitlement program. (Think about what happened with Fannie Mae/Freddie Mac).
On February 19, ordinary citizen Amanda Grosserode e-mailed that she was organizing a tax revolt protest in Overland Park, KS the following weekend. More than 400 people showed up in freezing weather to protest Rep. Dennis Moore’s vote for the stimulus bill. And also on that same day, CNBC’s Rick Santelli issued his now-famous rant and plans for a Chicago “Tea Party,” prompted by Obama’s mortgage entitlement expansion plans. He accused the Obama administration of “promoting bad behavior” and subsidizing “losers’ mortgages.”
Santelli gave a voice and even a passion to what the Tea Party movement would become…. a frustration with government and its policies of entitlement and fiscal irresponsibility. Here are the words of that rant:
RICK SANTELLI: The government is promoting bad behavior….. You know, the new administration’s big on computers and technology… How about this, President and new administration? Why don’t you put up a website to have people vote on the Internet as a referendum to see if we really want to subsidize the losers’ mortgages; or would we like to at least buy cars and buy houses in foreclosure and give them to people that might have a chance to actually prosper down the road, and reward people that could carry the water instead of drink the water? This is America! How many of you people want to pay for your neighbor’s mortgage that has an extra bathroom and can’t pay their bills? Raise your hand.
(Whistling, Cheering.People booing Obama)
SANTELLI: President Obama, are you listening?
RANDOM TRADER: How ’bout we all stop paying our mortgage?
SANTELLI: You know, Cuba used to have mansions and a relatively decent economy. They moved from the individual to the collective. Now, they’re driving ’54 Chevys, which is probably the last great car to come out of Detroit.
KERNEN: Hey Rick, how about the notion that you can go down to 2% on the mortgage…
SANTELLI: You could go down to -2%. And they can’t afford the house.
JOE KERNEN: So why are they in the house? Why are we trying to keep them in the house?
SANTELLI: We’re thinking of having a Chicago Tea Party in July. All you capitalists that want to show up to Lake Michigan, I’m gonna start organizing.
(Whistling, cheering)
WILBUR ROSS: Rick, I congratulate you on your new incarnation as a revolutionary leader.
SANTELLI: Somebody needs one. I’ll tell you what, if you read our Founding Fathers, people like Benjamin Franklin and Jefferson,… What we’re doing in this country now is making them roll over in their graves.
Perhaps Santelli was referring to a warning by James Madison: “The people of the U.S. owe their Independence and their liberty to the wisdom of descrying in the minute tax of 3 pence on tea, the magnitude of the evil comprised in the precedent. Let them exert the same wisdom, in watching against every evil lurking under plausible disguises, and growing up from small beginnings.” For too long, Americans have not been watching.
Within 10 days of Santelli’s rant, on February 27, the first Tea Party rally was held in Washington, Chicago and other cities across the US. The Tea Party movement and Tea Party phenomenon had been born.
Lest we forget what the Tea Party stands for and who itself makes up this informal group of grassroots “radicals,” consider how Mark Alexander summed it up in 2010: ” So, just what is the Tea Party? Let me first answer that question by describing who it is.
We are American Patriots, defenders of First Principles and Essential Liberty.
We are Soldiers, Sailors, Airmen, Marines, Coast Guardsmen and public servants standing in harm’s way at home and around the world, who are loyal, first and foremost, to our revered oath to “support and defend” our Constitution.
We are grassroots leaders and local, state and national officeholders who, likewise, honor our sacred oath.
We are mothers, fathers and other family members nurturing the next generation of young Patriots. We are farmers, craftsmen, tradesmen and industrial producers. We are small business owners, service providers and professionals in medicine and law. We are employees and employers. We are in ministry at home and missionaries abroad. We are students and professors at colleges and universities, often standing alone for what is good and right.
We are consumers and taxpayers. We are voters.
We are Patriot sons and daughters from all walks of life, heirs to the blessings of Liberty bequeathed to us at great personal cost by our Patriot forebears, confirmed in the opinion that it is our duty to God and Country to extend that blessing to our posterity, and avowed upon our sacred honor to that end. We are vigilant, strong, prepared and faithful.
We are not defined by race, creed, ethnicity, religion, wealth, education or political affiliation, but by our devotion to our Creator, and the liberty He has entrusted to us, one and all.
Second, in answer to the question, the Tea Party is not a political party, per se, organized around a national platform, rather a well-defined and uniform slate of principles on which they center their advocacy and support for political candidates.
Those principles include, first and foremost, advocating for Essential Liberty, the restoration of constitutional limits on government and the judiciary, and the promotion of free enterprise, national defense, and traditional American values.”
And the Tea Party is definitely here to stay.

LEGISLATIVE UPDATE
July 29, 2011--From the North Carolina Federation of Republican Women
NC General Assembly
The legislators completed their business for the special session on Thursday, Jul 28, 2011 which included addressing the governor's vetos in override votes, and redistricting.
Leading from the front, Republicans with the help of a few Democrats were successful in overriding the governor's veto of the following bills:
1. "Abortion - A Woman's Right to Know Act" HB 854 - On Jul 26, 2011, the House was tenacious in overriding the governor's veto of this important legislation in a vote of 72 to 47 with 1 excused absence. Democrat Representatives Brisson, Crawford, Hill, and Spear joined with all Republicans in the override. In the Senate the override vote passed in a vote of 29 to 19 with 2 excused absences. Both Republican Senators Bingham and Stevens had excused absences. Previously, Senator Bingham voted against the measure and Senator Stevens did not vote. Since the two Senators were absent, the Senate only needed 29 votes instead of 30 for the override.
Thanks to all NCFRW members, and especially Joyce Krawiec for leading the Grassroots Activists, in communicating with our legislators on this important bill. Women in Numbers (WIN) make a difference!
2. "Medical Liability Reforms" SB 33 - On Jul 25, 2011 the override was successful in a vote of 74 to 42 with 2 not voting, and 2 with an excused absence. Most Republicans voted for the measure, except Representatives Blackwell, Daughtry, and Mills. Most Democrats voted against the bill except Representatives Brisson, Crawford, Goodman, Hamilton, Hill, Lucas, Owens, Parfitt, Wilkins, and Wray.
3. "Regulatory Reform Act of 2011" SB 781 - The veto override passed on Jul 25, 2011 in a vote of 76 to 42 with 2 excused absences. Democrat Representatives Brandon, Brisson, Crawford, Goodman, Hill, Jackson, McGuirt, Owens, Spear, and Wray joined with most Republicans in voting for the bill; except Republican Representative McGrady. All other Democrats voted against the bill.
4. "Employment Security Commission Jobs Reform" SB 532 - On Jul 26, 2011 the House passed the override in a vote of 72 to 47 with 1 excused absence. Democrat Representatives Brisson, Crawford, Hill, and Spear joined with all Republicans in the override.
5. "Medicaid and Health Choice Provider Requirement" SB 496 - On Jul 25, 2011 the House voted to override the veto in a vote of 74 to 41 with 3 not voting, and 2 excused absences. Democrat Representatives Brisson, Bryant, Crawford, Goodman, Hill, Jackson and Spear voted with all Republicans.
Redistricting
The General Assembly enacted District Plans, including the "Lewis-Dollar-Dockham 4" on Jul 28, the "Rucho Senate 2" on Jul 27, and the "Rucho-Lewis Congress 3" on Jul 28, 2011. You can access information on 2011 Redistricting by going to http://www.ncga.state.nc.us/.
Both the House and the Senate passed along party lines the "Omnibus Local Election Laws" bill (HB 719) that addressed local redistricting in Mecklenburg and Guilford counties.
Unfinished Business:
1. "Restore Confidence in Government" (HB 351/SB 352) - The Voter Photo ID vote was held in the House on Jul 26 but did not garner enough votes to override the governor's veto. The House vote was 68 to 51 with 1 excused absence. No Democrat voted for Voter Photo ID and no Republican voted against it. Four Democrat votes were required for the override.
2. "Energy Jobs Act" (SB 709) - The governor vetoed the bill on Jun 30, 2011. The bill aimed to initiate efforts for "offshore energy exploration and accelerate a method to collect natural gas in the Piedmont." (Star News Online ) No votes were taken.
3. "No Dues Checkoff for School Employees" (SB 727). No votes were taken to override the governor's veto that occurred on Jun 18, 2011.
Legislators will return to Raleigh on Sep 12, 2011, to discuss NC constitutional amendments, including the Marriage Amendment.

AMERICAN MINUTE: Alexis de Tocqueville
July 29 (Add this to your Constitutional Studies!)
Alexis de Tocqueville was born JULY 29, 1805.A French social scientist, he traveled the United States in 1831, and wrote a two-part work, Democracy in America (1835, 1840), which has been described as: "the most comprehensive and penetrating analysis of the relationship between character and society in America that has ever been written."
In it, de Tocqueville wrote: "Upon my arrival in the United States the religious aspect of the country was the first thing that struck my attention; and the longer I stayed there, the more I perceived the great political consequences resulting from this new state of things, to which I was unaccustomed.
In France I had almost always seen the spirit of religion and the spirit of freedom marching in opposite directions. But in America I found they were intimately united and that they reigned in common over the same country..."
De Tocqueville continued: "They brought with them...a form of Christianity, which I cannot better describe, than by styling it a democratic and republican religion...From the earliest settlement of the emigrants, politics and religion contracted an alliance which has never been dissolved."
De Tocqueville wrote: "Religion in America...must be regarded as the foremost of the political institutions of that country; for if it does not impart a taste for freedom, it facilitates the use of it...This opinion is not peculiar to a class of citizens or a party, but it belongs to the whole nation."
De Tocqueville observed: "The sects that exist in the United States are innumerable. They all differ in respect to the worship which is due to the Creator; but they all agree in respect to the duties which are due from man to man. Each sect adores the Deity in its own peculiar manner, but all sects preach the same moral law in the name of God...
Moreover, all the sects of the United States are comprised within the great unity of Christianity, and Christian morality is everywhere the same."
De Tocqueville added: "In the United States the sovereign authority is religious...There is no country in the whole world where the Christian religion retains a greater influence than in America...
America is still the place where the Christian religion has kept the greatest real power over men's souls; and nothing better demonstrates how useful and natural it is to man, since the country where it now has the widest sway is both the most enlightened and the freest."
De Tocqueville continued: "In the United States the influence of religion is not confined to the manners, but it extends to the intelligence of the people...Christianity, therefore reigns without obstacle, by universal consent..."
De Tocqueville continued: "The Americans combine the notions of Christianity and of liberty so intimately in their minds, that it is impossible to make them conceive the one without the other; and with them this conviction does not spring from that barren traditionary faith which seems to vegetate in the soul rather than to live."
In Book Two of Democracy in America, de Tocqueville wrote: "Christianity has therefore retained a strong hold on the public mind in America...In the United States...Christianity itself is a fact so irresistibly established, that no one undertakes either to attack or to defend it."
In August of 1831, while traveling through Chester County, New York, Alexis de Tocqueville observed a court case: "While I was in America, a witness, who happened to be called at the assizes of the county of Chester, declared that he did not believe in the existence of God or in the immortality of the soul. The judge refused to admit his evidence, on the ground that the witness had destroyed beforehand all confidence of the court in what he was about to say...
The New York Spectator of August 23d, 1831, relates the fact in the following terms: 'The court of common pleas of Chester county (New York), a few days since rejected a witness who declared his disbelief in the existence of God. The presiding judge remarked, that he had not before been aware that there was a man living who did not believe in the existence of God; that this belief constituted the sanction of all testimony in a court of justice: and that he knew of no case in a Christian country, where a witness had been permitted to testify without such belief.'"

Escalation in Arizona:Firearms confiscated
Residents of the Arizona town that's now a YouTube sensation after police forcibly removed a woman speaking at a recent public meeting are now experiencing firearms confiscation by the government.
The stunning action is taking place in Quartzsite, Ariz., where Town Councilman Joe Winslow has prompted the seizure of guns from local gem dealer and online entrepreneur Michael Roth because Roth allegedly glared at the councilman, blocked his entrance to Town Hall and called him a "turd."
Karen Slaughter, the elected justice of the peace for the region, issued a harassment injunction against Roth on behalf of Winslow, the lawmaker who called for the silencing of pet groomer and publisher Jennifer Jones in the infamous video.
That original video of the June 28 town-hall fiasco posted on YouTube has been viewed more than 120,000 times.

Obama Stands In the Way of Job Creation, Where Does Governor Perdue Stand?
Will Governor Perdue Stand Up to Obama and Labor Unions to Protect North Carolina’s Economic Future? (I think we know the answer to that!)
For Immediate Release Contact: NCGOP Press Office
Thursday, July 28, 2011 (919) 424-5555
RALEIGH, NC – President Obama’s appointees at the National Labor Relations Board (NLRB) have sued Boeing to prevent it from building a new plant in South Carolina, a right to work state. An editorial in today’s Wall Street Journal highlights the battle pitting Boeing, a private company committed to creating jobs, against the White House, the NLRB and their labor union allies.
In a statement, North Carolina Republican Party Chairman Robin Hayes urged Governor Perdue to step up and join other right to work governors in rejecting President Obama’s and the NLRB’s meddling with private companies and right to work states: “A number of governors in right to work states have stepped up to protect jobs. What is Governor Perdue waiting for? Now is the time for Governor Beverly Perdue to show real leadership by calling on President Obama to oppose the NLRB’s gross overreach and protect North Carolina’s economic future.”
The White House vs. Boeing
Wall Street Journal Editorial
July 28, 2011
Teenagers in the 1960s listened to Beatles records backwards in search of hidden meanings—a trick akin to the task of deciphering President Obama's statements on the battle between Boeing and the National Labor Relations Board. Since the NLRB sued the airplane company in April to prevent it from building a new plant in South Carolina, Mr. Obama's position has alternated between silent and incomprehensible.
At a press conference in June, the mellifluous one said he felt that "as a general proposition, companies need to have the freedom to relocate." In case anyone mistook that as a full-throated defense of a business's right to expand its operations and hire workers in any state it likes, Mr. Obama also emphasized that the NLRB is an "independent" agency and that the issue is being decided by a judge.
Finally on Tuesday, we got the straight story. In a formal statement of Administration policy, the White House opposed a bill sponsored by South Carolina Rep. Tim Scott that would reduce the power of the NLRB and prohibit it "from ordering any employer to relocate, shut down, or transfer employment under any circumstance." Translation: Mr. Obama intends to guard the NLRB for his union allies, but if no one notices, all the better.
In opposing the bill, the White House says "The [National Labor Relations Act] does not restrict the location of company operations, provided companies comply with the law." But companies don't live in this land of hypotheticals. The NLRB lawsuit is an explicit attempt to block Boeing from opening its new South Carolina factory, and either the Administration believes the NLRB is appropriately enforcing the law, or it believes the NLRB has exceeded its mandate and needs to be reined in. Now we know it's on the side of the NLRB, which is run by Mr. Obama's appointees.
As politics, the NLRB issue is a doozy for Democrats, who know that few voters will countenance a policy of punishing business for building plants and creating jobs in their states. In Virginia, Republican George Allen has been pressing the question with Tim Kaine, his opponent for an open Senate seat next year. If Mr. Scott's bill passes the House, Senate Democrats running for re-election will also be on the spot.
The NLRB's campaign against Boeing has captured political attention—and created business anxiety—because it is a government attempt to restrict the free movement of capital. It attempts to punish workers merely because their states passed right-to-work laws.
This strikes millions of people as contrary to the kind of freedom that America was founded on. The Administration has thrown its lot squarely with the unions, and full marks to Mr. Scott for forcing Mr. Obama finally to declare himself.

GOVERNOR PERDUE INVITES YOU TO SHOW YOUR PHOTO ID!
Picture ID required for Admittance!
Governor Perdue released the following statement yesterday after Democrats in the North Carolina House of Representatives put partisan politics over the will of 75% of North Carolinians by NOT supporting the veto override on the common-sense Voter ID legislation.
"I want to thank the legislators who stood firm in the belief that every North Carolinian has the constitutional right to vote and that the state should not be creating obstacles."
Do as I say, not as I do? Picture ID required for Admittance!
Governor Perdue "requires" high-school aged state government interns show their ID to attend an event funded by taxpayers at a location also funded by taxpayers. Yet when it comes to showing a Photo ID in order to vote, Governor Perdue could care less. Governor Perdue could care less about restoring our confidence in our election process.
Playing politics with our elections is unacceptable, but it is exactly what Governor Perdue is doing.
Please take a few moments and share your thoughts on Governor Perdue's double standard on our Facebook Fan Page or via Twitter at @NCHouseGOP.

AMERICAN MINUTE: 14th Amemdment
July 28
The 14th Amendment was adopted JULY 28, 1868, because southern States, though forced to end slavery by the 13th Amendment, did not grant citizenship to freed slaves.
Southern Democrat Legislatures passed Black Codes and Jim Crow Laws, requiring freed slaves to be "apprenticed" to "employers" and punished any who left.
Illinois Republican Congressman John Farnsworth said March 31, 1871: "The reason for the adoption [of the 14th Amendment]...was because of...discriminating...legislation of those States...by which they were punishing one class of men under different laws from another class."
Republican John Bingham of Ohio, who introduced the 14th Amendment, said: "I repel the suggestion...that the Amendment will...take away from any State any right that belongs to it."
Yet after the Amendment was ratified, activist Federal Judges, applying evolution to the legal process, did just that, as Thomas Jefferson had forewarned Charles Hammond in 1821: "The germ of dissolution of our...government is in...the federal judiciary...working like gravity by night and by day, gaining a little today and a little tomorrow...until all shall be usurped from the States."
The 14th Amendment soon became a door by which Federal Courts took authority over trade disputes, union strikes, and eventually religion, away from States' jurisdiction.
In his Commentaries on the Constitution, 1833, Justice Joseph Story explained the pre-14th Amendment view of "separation of church and state" was to limit the Federal Government: "In some of the States, Episcopalians constituted the predominant sect; in other, Presbyterians; in others, Congregationalists; in others, Quakers...
The whole power over the subject of religion is left exclusively to the State governments, to be acted upon according to their own sense of justice and the State constitutions."
When North Carolina was considering ratifying the U.S. Convention, Governor Samuel Johnston argued, July 30, 1788: "The people of Massachusetts and Connecticut are mostly Presbyterians...In Rhode Island, the tenets of the Baptists, I believe, prevail. In New York, they are divided very much; the most numerous are the Episcopalians and the Baptists. In New Jersey, they are as much divided as we are. In Pennsylvania, if any sect prevails more than others, it is that of the Quakers. In Maryland, the Episcopalians are most numerous, though there are other sects. In Virginia, there are many sects...
I hope, therefore, that gentlemen will see there is no cause of fear that any one religion shall be exclusively established."
John Bouvier’s Law Dictionary (Philadelphia, J.B. Lippincott Company, 1889) stated in its definition of "Religion": "The Christian religion is, of course, recognized by the government, yet...the preservation of religious liberty is left to the States."
On March 4, 1805, in his Second Inaugural Address, President Thomas Jefferson stated: "In matters of religion I have considered that its free exercise is placed by the Constitution independent of the powers of the General Government. I have therefore undertaken, on no occasion, to prescribe the religious exercise suited to it; but have left them, as the Constitution found them, under the direction and discipline of state and church authorities by the several religious societies."
On January 23, 1808, Jefferson wrote to Samuel Miller: "I consider the government of the United States as interdicted by the Constitution from intermeddling with religious institutions, their doctrines, discipline, or exercises.
This results not only from the provision that no law shall be made respecting the establishment or free exercise of religion, but from that also which reserves to the states the powers not delegated to the United States [10th Amendment].
Certainly no power to prescribe any religious exercise, or to assume authority in religious discipline, has been delegated to the General government. It must then rest with the States as far as it can be in any human authority...
I do not believe it is for the interest of religion to invite the civil magistrate to direct its exercises, its discipline, or its doctrines...
Every religious society has a right to determine for itself the times for these exercises, and the objects proper for them, according to their own particular tenets."
Justice Joseph Story continued in his Commentaries: "Probably at the time of the adoption of the Constitution...the universal sentiment in America was, that Christianity ought to receive encouragement from the state so far as was not incompatible with the private rights of conscience and the freedom of religious worship.
Any attempt to level all religions, and make it a matter of state policy to hold all in utter indifference, would have created universal disapprobation, in not universal indignation."

In a harsh criticism of House Republicans and think tanks critical of Rep. John Boehner’s plan to raise the debt limit, the 2008 Republican Presidential nominee, who chose Tea Party darling Sarah Palin for VP, said about this about a faction of his own party:

More Democrats Call on Obama to Ignore Congress on Debt, Invoke 14th Amendment
House Democrats said Wednesday that President Barack Obama should invoke a little-known constitutional provision to prevent the nation from going into default if Congress fails to come up with a plan to raise the debt ceiling.
Rep. James Clyburn of South Carolina, a member of the Democratic leadership, said he told fellow Democrats that Obama should both veto any House GOP plan for a short-term extension of the debt ceiling and invoke the 14th amendment, which says that the validity of the nation’s public debt “shall not be questioned.”

RSC Update: Still Only One Plan Solves the Problem
Monday, July 25, 2011
From the Chairman
Several weeks ago, S&P threatened to downgrade the U.S.’s AAA credit rating unless Washington comes up with a “credible solution” that saves at least $4 trillion and can be “enacted and maintained throughout the decade.” What does that mean exactly? It means any “deal” that relies on promises alone will not suffice because promises to cut spending later usually vanish into thin air. Only a Balanced Budget Amendment provides the permanence necessary to meet S&P’s standards. In other words, only the Cut, Cap, and Balance Act will protect our AAA credit rating and actually solve our debt problem.
A bipartisan “Gang of 234” in the House – with the support of two-thirds of Americans – approved the Cut, Cap, and Balance Act last week. Senate Democrats, however, used a procedural vote to halt debate on the measure. In the days since, the conversation has shifted to finding a “deal” to raise the debt ceiling rather than a solution to solve our debt problems. The credit rating agencies and the American public don’t just want a “deal” though. They want a real solution. Since Cut, Cap, and Balance is the only actual solution on the table, it’s the only plan I support.
49 out of the 50 states have to meet some form of balanced budget requirement. It’s time Washington was forced to do the same and finally live within its means.

If Debt Is The Enemy Then There Are Traitors Among Us
Liberty Extra
By Frank Salvato,
The so-called “debt ceiling default crisis” continues to loom, with enough Progressive-Leftist demagoguery in the air to choke a horse, or, in this case, kill an economy. I roll my eyes at the term “debt ceiling default crisis” because the honest man – an increasingly rare species in federal government – understands that there can only be a crisis should President Obama choose to create one. That said, Republicans, TEA Partiers and Conservatives are in danger of doing the right thing in refusing to enable more debt, but losing the public relations war to what amounts to the traitors among us due to chronic messaging impotency.

Why the EPA Train Wreck Must Be Stopped!
Behind the scenes, while Washington and the United States focus on the debt crisis, President Obama’s EPA has been quietly implementing one of the most radical and costly policies of his administration. Ever since the failure of cap-and-trade, the administration has turned to the EPA to carry out its radical environmental agenda. Immediately after the 2010 election Obama was quoted saying “Cap-and-trade was just one way of skinning the cat; it was not the only way.” The EPA is in the process of completing and finalizing 30 major regulations and 170 major policy rules that would impose hundreds of billions of dollars of compliance costs on the economy, killing jobs and threatening the economic recovery. Because of the disastrous affects that the EPA’s new regulations will have on the already struggling economy, many have taken to calling the administration’s aggressive stance the “EPA train wreck.”

KUHNER: President's socialist takeover must be stopped - Washington Times
President Obama has engaged in numerous high crimes and misdemeanors. The Democratic majority in Congress is in peril as Americans reject his agenda. Yet more must be done: Mr. Obama should be impeached.
He is slowly - piece by painful piece - erecting a socialist dictatorship. We are not there - yet. But he is putting America on that dangerous path. He is undermining our constitutional system of checks and balances; subverting democratic procedures and the rule of law; presiding over a corrupt, gangster regime; and assaulting the very pillars of traditional capitalism. Like Venezuela’s leftist strongman, Hugo Chavez, Mr. Obama is bent on imposing a revolution from above - one that is polarizing America along racial, political and ideological lines. Mr. Obama is the most divisive president since Richard Nixon. His policies are Balkanizing the country. It’s time for him to go.

KUHNER: Obama's culture of death - Washington Times
President Obama is on the verge of achieving his liberal revolution. His goal is to destroy our Judeo-Christian culture and replace it with European-style radical secularism.
The administration is now contemplating forcing health insurance companies to provide free birth control - including the “morning-after” pill - as part of Obamacare. The Department of Health and Human Services (HHS) is seriously considering adding contraception to the list of services that must be fully covered by insurers without charging co-payments. HHS is expected to make its final decision before Aug. 1. In other words, Mr. Obama’s government-run health care system may easily include another monstrosity: mandating that taxpayers subsidize the “morning-after” pill.

Judge Roy Moore -- Poem
The following is a poem written by Judge Roy Moore from Alabama ... Judge Moore was sued by the ACLU for displaying the Ten Commandments in his courtroom foyer. He has been stripped of his judgeship and now they are trying to strip his right to practice law in Alabama ! The judge's poem sums it up quite well.
America the beautiful, or so you used to be.
Land of the Pilgrims' pride; I'm glad they'll never see.
Babies piled in dumpsters, Abortion on demand,
Oh, sweet land of liberty; your house is on the sand.
Our children wander aimlessly, poisoned by cocaine
choosing to indulge their lusts, when God has said abstain
From sea to shining sea, our Nation turns away
From the teaching of God's love and a need to always pray
We've kept God in our temples, how callous we have grown.
When earth is but His footstool, and Heaven is His throne.
We've voted in a government that's rotting at the core,
Appointing Godless Judges; who throw reason out the door,
Too soft to place a killer in a well deserved tomb,
But brave enough to kill a baby before he leaves the womb.
You think that God's not angry, that our land's a moral slum?
How much longer will He wait before His judgment comes?
How are we to face our God, from Whom we cannot hide?
What then is left for us to do, but stem this evil tide?
If we who are His children, will humbly turn and pray;
Seek His holy face and mend our evil way:
Then God will hear from Heaven; and forgive us of our sins,
He'll heal our sickly land and those who live within.
But, America the Beautiful, If you don't - then you will see,
A sad but Holy God withdraw His hand from Thee.
~~Judge Roy Moore~~
This says it all. May we all ffer our prayers for Judge Moore to be blessed and for America to wake up and realize what we need to do to keep OUR America the Beautiful.
IN GOD WE TRUST!

Lou Calling: Reality Check!
July 23, 2011
In response to particularlly vocal liberal's post, the following article was submitted to the Sun Journal on July 17th. As is usual with her and her progressive liberal minions, their only defense for our current conditions is 'blame Bush'.That may have worked in 2008 but will fail in 2012. More to the point, if after more then two and a half years in office and control of the Senate, why would anyone reelect Obama and his fellow socialists on Congress?
Sun Journal Letter to the Editor
Reality check….
A recent letter to the Sun Journal from Jane Gaydos asked the question,
“surely, there are other writers who don’t blame Obama for the current mess in DC.”
For the four years, prior to the 2010 elections, the democrats controlled congressional spending. Obama has had over two years to bring spending under control but he has been too busy with other endeavors.
In a recent news clip, while making reference to his ‘stimulus shovel ready’ projects, he quipped, “some of those shovel ready programs weren’t er..(pause and laughter) shovel ready”.
Seated to his left was GE, CEO, Jeffrey Immelt (GE IS A MAJOR DONOR TO DEMOCRATS) who sits on the President’s Economic Recovery Advisory Board, shared in the ‘chuckle’. I wonder how many Americans, out of work, would find this funny.
For the record, Immelt has sent a majority of his production business to China.
There is a simple test we can all take in the privacy of our homes. Here is the first question: ‘If George Bush was running for reelection in 2012 and the cost of gas was $3.65 per gallon, if unemployment was at a national level of 9.2% and he filled his cabinet with a bunch of Socialists, what would liberal progressives do’? My guess is they’d blame Bush for the current conditions and I would have to agree.
There is no second question because there are some who can’t get past the first; that is, they still blame Bush. When will this Country wake up and place the condition in this Country on the current occupant of the Oval Office and his puppets in the Senate.

Some Interesting Middle East History
Wall Street Journal: Why My Father Hated India
Aatish Taseer, the son of an assassinated Pakistani leader, explains the history and hysteria behind a deadly relationship
Ten days before he was assassinated in January, my father, Salman Taseer, sent out a tweet about an Indian rocket that had come down over the Bay of Bengal: "Why does India make fools of themselves messing in space technology? Stick 2 bollywood my advice."
My father was the governor of Punjab, Pakistan's largest province, and his tweet, with its taunt at India's misfortune, would have delighted his many thousands of followers. It fed straight into Pakistan's unhealthy obsession with India, the country from which it was carved in 1947.

30. If a previous president had ordered a botched illegal gun running operation that resulted in American arms winding up in the hands of foreign drug cartels who in turn murdered Americans, would he have not had blood on his hands and been ordered to resign?
31. If a previous president had released a fraudulent long form birth certificate and was factually proven ineligible to even be the president whether he was born on American soil or not, would you have not demanded impeachment? (Editor's Note: Obama is NOT and a natural-born citizen, as required by the Constitution, NO WAY-- NO HOW!)
In summary, when you ask Obama to “Barack Your World,” refer to this list and try not to hurl.
Until next time . . . Wake Up America!

5. If a previous president had criticized a state law that he admitted to never even reading, would you have thought him an ignoramus?
6. 7. If a previous president joined the country of Mexico and sued a state in America to force that state to continue to allow illegal immigration, would you have questioned his patriotism and priorities and wonder who his allegiance was to?

9. If a previous president had put 87,000 people out of work by arbitrarily placing a moratorium on offshore oil drilling on companies that have one of the best safety records because one foreign company had an accident, would you have agreed?
10. If a previous president had used a forged document as the basis of the moratorium that would render 87,000 American workers unemployed would you have supported him?
11. If a previous president had been the first president to need a teleprompter to get through a press conference, would you have thought this is more proof of how inept he is on his own and that he’s really controlled by smarter people behind the scenes?
12. If a previous president had spent hundreds of thousands of dollars to take his wife to a play in NYC, would you have approved?
13. If a previous president had reduced your retirement plan holdings of GM stock by 90%, given the unions a majority stake in the car maker and shut down 789 perfectly profitable Chrysler dealerships because they were were owned by registered republicans, would you have approved?
14. If a previous president had made a joke at the expense of the Special Olympics, would you have approved?
15. If a previous president had given Gordon Brown a set of inexpensive and incorrectly formatted DVDs when Gordon Brown gave him a thoughtful and historically significant gift, would you have approved?
16. If a previous president had given the Queen of England an iPod containing audios of his speeches, would you have thought it a proud moment for America, or that a narcissist occupied the White House?
17. If a previous president had bowed to Kings of third world countries while on an apologetic tour, would you have approved?
18. If a previous president had visited Austria and made reference to the nonexistent “Austrian language,” would you have thought it a minor slip?
19. If a previous president had filled his cabinet and circle of advisers with people who don’t pay their own income taxes, would you have approved?
20. If a previous president had said there were 57 states in the United States, wouldn’t you have been shocked?
21. If a previous president would have flown all the way to Denmark to make a five minute speech about how the Olympics would benefit him walking out of his front door in his home town, would you not have thought him a conceited, egomaniac?
22. If a previous president had been so Spanish illiterate as to refer to “Cinco de Cuatro” in front of the Mexican ambassador when it was the fourth of May (Cuatro de Mayo), and continued to flub it when he tried again, would you have not been embarrassed?
23. If a previous president had burned 9,000 gallons of jet fuel to go plant a single tree on “Earth Day,” would you have concluded he’s a hypocrite?
24. If a previous presidents’ administration had okayed Air Force One flying low over millions of people followed by a jet fighter in downtown Manhattan that caused widespread panic, would you have thought him insensitive and clueless about what actually happened on 9/11?
25. If a previous president had created the position of 45 Czars who reported directly to him, bypassing the House and Senate and usurping the Constitution, would you have ever approved?
26. If a previous president had ordered the firing of the CEO of a major corporation, even though he had no constitutional authority to do so, would you have approved?
27. If a previous president had spent nearly $2 million dollars hiding his identity all the way back to his childhood, would you have been suspicious?
28. If a previous president had been raised a muslim, spent more time living abroad in Islamic countries than he did in the United States, hung out with terrorists, and attended a hate church for 20 years, would you have not thought him brainwashed?

DICK MORRIS (EXCELLENT ANALYIS): How the Debt Debate Will Unfold
Here’s what’s going to happen:
1. The Senate leaders from both parties and President Obama will coalesce around the Gang of Six deal based on the recommendations of the Bowles-Simpson Deficit Reduction Commission.
2. After initially voicing reservations, House Speaker John Boehner and, perhaps, Majority Leader Eric Cantor will sign off on the deal in return for some unimportant modifications.
3. When the deal reaches the House floor, all hell will break loose and the rank and file Republicans will revolt en masse. Defying their leadership, they will reject the Gang of Six deal in caucus.
4. The House Democrats, who could provide the votes to pass the bill when their ranks are added to those Boehner-loyalists who back the proposal, will refuse to go along unless there are equal numbers of Republicans and Democrats voting for the Gang of Six proposal. Not wanting the albatross of passing the gang’s proposal as a Democratic plan, they will withhold the votes on the House floor for its passage. Boehner won’t bring it up for a vote.

Is the White House Programming a News Channel? Host Who Was Most Critical of Obama Says Head of MSNBC Removed Him Because Washington Didn‘t Like His ’Tone’
Cenk Uygur hosted a prime-time show on the MSNBC after the Keith Olbermann firing resulted in a rearrangement of the prime time lineup. Uygur filled the 6 p.m. Eastern slot vacated by Ed Schultz since late January. In the video Uygur explains he turned down a significantly larger MSNBC contract for a much smaller role because he was told by the MSNBC president that the decision to remove him from primetime was due to political pressure from people in Washington who did not like his “tone” which was very critical of President Obama.

The Bill: H.R. 2368, Put America to Work Act
July 20, 2011
Most Expensive Bill of the Week--Annualized Cost: $70 billion ($350 billion over five years)
To help struggling Americans, Congressman Keith Ellison (MN-5) introduced H.R. 2368. The Put America to Work Act would make grants to state and local governments, and to Indian tribes as well, to create employment opportunities for residents who are either unemployed or underemployed. Grants would only be made available for distressed areas, such as those affected by mass foreclosures or natural disasters.
Tax dollars would be allocated for "fast-track jobs," which include repairing public buildings and spaces, restoring vacant properties, expanding food programs, and increasing staff for early childhood education programs, such as Head Start. Employment grants would also be used to increase energy efficiency in buildings, to provide human services, and to contribute to programs for disadvantaged youth. Individuals would be required to be employed for at least 12 months and work no less than 30 hours per week.
The text of the bill would authorize $350 billion for fiscal years 2012 and 2013. The funds would remain available until expended. NTUF assumes the funds would be spent over five years. Tribal governments would receive no more than five percent of total funds and state governments would be limited to 30 percent of funds.

Carlton's Corner: VIETNAMESE IMMIGRANT
Pretty refreshing--this immigrant acknowledges both God and adopted country--unheard of!

I would hope you would all read this short article from a Vietnamese man. There is so much to learn from it that I wish it could be part of the education system. You can make it so by sending it to your friends also.
VIETNAMESE IMMIGRANT
On Saturday, July 24th, 2010 the town of Prescott Valley, AZ, hosted a Freedom Rally. Quang Nguyen was asked to speak on his experience of coming to America and what it means. He spoke the following in dedication to all Vietnam Veterans. Thought you might enjoy hearing what he had to say:
Thirty-five years ago, if you were to tell me that I am going to stand up here speaking to a couple thousand patriots, in English, I'd laugh at you. Man, every morning I wake up thanking God for putting me and my family in the greatest country on earth.
I just want you all to know that the American dream does exist and I am living the American dream. I was asked to speak to you about my experience as a first generation Vietnamese- American, but I'd rather speak to you as an American. If you hadn't noticed, I am not white and I feel pretty comfortable with my people.
I am a proud US citizen and here is my proof. It took me 8 years to get it, waiting in endless lines, but I got it and I am very proud of it.
I still remember the images of the Tet offensive in 1968, I was six years old. Now you might want to question how a 6-year-old boy could remember anything. Trust me; those images can never be erased. I can't even imagine what it was like for young American soldiers, 10,000 miles away from home, fighting on my behalf.
35 years ago, I left South Vietnam for political asylum. The war had ended. At the age of 13, I left with the understanding that I may or may not ever get to see my siblings or parents again. I was one of the first lucky 100,000 Vietnamese allowed to come to the US. Somehow, my family and I were reunited 5 months later, amazingly, in California. It was a miracle from God.
If you haven't heard lately that this is the greatest country on earth, I am telling you that right now. It was the freedom and the opportunities presented to me that put me here with all of you tonight. I also remember the barriers that I had to overcome every step of the way. My high school counselor told me that I cannot make it to college due to my poor communication skills. I proved him wrong. I finished college. You see, all you have to do is to give this little boy an opportunity and encourage him to take and run with it. Well, I took the opportunity and here I am.
This person standing tonight in front of you could not exist under a socialist/communist environment. By the way, if you think socialism is the way to go, I am sure many people here will chip in to get you a one-way ticket out of here. And if you didn't know, the only difference between socialism and communism is an AK-47 aimed at your head. That was my experience.
In 1982, I stood with a thousand new immigrants, reciting the Pledge of Allegiance and listening to the National Anthem for the first time as an American. To this day, I can't remember anything sweeter and more patriotic than that moment in my life.
Fast forwarding, somehow I finished high school, finished college, and like any other goofball 21 year old kid, I was having a great time with my life. I had a nice job and a nice apartment in Southern California. In some way and somehow, I had forgotten how I got here and why I was here.
One day I was at a gas station, I saw a veteran pumping gas on the other side of the island. I don't know what made me do it, but I walked over and asked if he had served in Vietnam. He smiled and said yes. I shook and held his hand. The grown man began to well up. I walked away as fast as I could and at that very moment, I was emotionally rocked. This was a profound moment in my life. I knew something had to change in my life. It was time for me to learn how to be a good citizen. It was time for me to give back.
You see, America is not a place on the map, it isn't a physical location. It is an ideal, a concept. And if you are an American, you must understand the concept, you must buy into this concept, and most importantly, you have to fight and defend this concept. This is about Freedom and not free stuff. And that is why I am standing up here.
Brothers and sisters, to be a real American, the very least you must do is to learn English and understand it well. In my humble opinion, you cannot be a faithful patriotic citizen if you can't speak the language of the country you live in. Take this document of 46 pages - last I looked on the Internet, there wasn't a Vietnamese translation of the US Constitution. It took me a long time to get to the point of being able to converse and until this day, I still struggle to come up with the right words. It's not easy, but if it's too easy, it's not worth doing.
Before I knew this 46-page document, I learned of the 500,000 Americans who fought for this little boy. I learned of the 58,000 names scribed on the black wall at the Vietnam Memorial. You are my heroes. You are my founders.
At this time, I would like to ask all the Vietnam veterans to please stand. I thank you for my life. I thank you for your sacrifices, and I thank you for giving me the freedom and liberty I have today. I now ask all veterans, firefighters, and police officers, to please stand. On behalf of all first generation immigrants, I thank you for your services and may God bless you all.

Notice that he referred to himself as an American, NOT Vietnamese-American. How good it would be here in America if all of the immigrants -- no, EVERYONE -- felt like Quang Nguyen.
Editor's Note: We owe it to all the LEGAL immigrants who have come to this country and worked to be a part of this great Nation--to fight ILLEGAL IMMIGRATION of those who break our laws and spit on our flag and on our principles!

The UN Colonization of America – Fueled by Obama
The article is lengthy, but full of references and footnotes … worth your time.
Excerpt:
Research into many of the actions, goals and objectives of the United Nations (UN) and President Obama lead to one very clear conclusion…
The UN is colonizing America and Obama is aiding and accelerating that colonization.
The “distant metropolis” in Osterhammel’s description is the UN and this article exposes the correlation between the UN agenda and what is happening to America.
Why is it important to understand who and what is behind the transformation we’re experiencing? To ascertain what they have in store for us. As you will see, the goals of the “colonial rulers” (i.e. global elites) are destructive to our way of life and if they are successful, freedom as we’ve known it will be extinguished. That is their goal and it’s our job to know the enemy, raise awareness and fight back until we’re victorious.

Medicaid Caught Encouraging Fraud
Undercover citizen journalist James O’Keefe is at it again, this time capturing on video an Ohio government worker helping a “drug dealer” commit Medicaid fraud.
Posing as Russian drug smugglers who drive an exotic, $800,000 sports car and hire out their underage sister as a prostitute, O’Keefe’s operatives reportedly applied for Medicaid assistance for their father with the Franklin County Department of Job and Family Services, where government employee Traci Daniels told the applicants to omit listing their expensive car as an asset and report their line of work as “babysitting.”

Report: SEIU ‘Intimidation Manual’ Uncovered Detailing Union’s Dirty Tactics
According to Vincent Vernuccio in the Washington Times, it’s over 70 pages and details how “outside pressure can involve jeopardizing relationships between the employer and lenders, investors, stockholders, customers, clients, patients, tenants, politicians, or others on whom the employer depends for funds.”
“It” is a new intimidation manual uncovered during a lawsuit against the SEIU*, one of the nation’s largest unions. In it, Vernuccio says, the SEIU’s dirty tactics are explained, including bullying employers by targeting them economically and advocating for breaking the law.

Economist Gary Shilling: Plunging Home Prices to Spark 2012 Recession
Friday, 15 Jul 201
By Forrest Jones
Housing prices are due to slide another 20 percent nationwide and will throw the U.S. economy into a fresh recession probably sometime next year, says economist Gary Shilling.
"The problem is there are too many excess inventories. We estimate that there are 2 (million) to 2.5 million excess housing unit inventories over and above the normal working levels," Shilling tells Yahoo's Daily Ticker.
The United States normally builds about 1.5 million houses a year, so with such excess inventory lagging on the market, it's going to take around four to five years for normalcy to return.
"Excess inventories are the mortal enemy of prices, and we're looking at another 20 percent decline in prices," Shilling says.
A 20 percent decline would send the number of underwater mortgages — defined as owing more on a home than it's worth — rising to 40 percent from 23 percent today, which is enough to devastate an already weak economy.
That means the United States isn't merely going to double dip back into the recession from which it just emerged, but rather, it will go barreling into a new one.
"This is something that is going to unfold over the next couple of years, but at what point would it be a shock enough to cause a negative economic growth pattern? I think next year looks pretty critical."
Plus, overall economic uncertainty isn't helping a recovery anyway, especially in view of fate of the U.S. debt ceiling.
The Obama administration has hit its $14.3 trillion debt ceiling, and Congress must give it the green light to raise it.
Republicans and Democrats have been unable to agree on lifting it, and if they don't raise it by Aug. 2, the government says, the United States will default on its debts.
Foreclosure filings in the first half of the year plunged 29 percent compared with the same period a year ago and were down 25 percent from the last six months of 2010, according to RealtyTrac, an online marketer of foreclosed properties.
Don't break out the champagne just yet: the decline represents processing delays at banks overwhelmed by the sheer size of foreclosed homes they must handle.
Improvements in the housing sector have nothing to do with the drop in filings, says RealtyTrac's CEO, James Saccacio.
"We estimate that as many as 1 million foreclosure actions that should have taken place in 2011 will now happen in 2012, or perhaps even later," says Saccacio, according to CNNMoney.
That means the housing slump will continue.
"This casts an ominous shadow over the housing market where recovery is unlikely to happen until the current and forthcoming inventory of distressed properties can be whittled down to a manageable number," Saccacio says.
Others agree that delays in foreclosure are bad for the economy.
"The government should be trying to speed foreclosures, not stop them," says Arnold Kling, an economist with the Mercatus Center at George Mason University and formerly with Freddie Mac.
"Postponing foreclosures may simply be putting off the inevitable market bottom. We need to remove barriers to foreclosures."

Book Review: Andrew Breitbart’s Righteous Indignation
As a Conservative political web-writer, one of my modern-day heroes is Andrew Breitbart. After reading his book, Righteous Indignation, I’m an even bigger fan than ever before.
I could relate to almost everything Breitbart wrote, from his early beginnings as a Democrat to his ‘Conservative enlightenment’.
Breitbart grew up in a privileged Southern California neighborhood and then became a major party boy at Tulane University. His big political ‘ah-ha’ moment happened during the Clarence Thomas hearings; he couldn’t understand the hypocrisy of the left, with their sudden hyper-critical treatment of Thomas while seeming to let everyone else get a free pass regarding morals. He was also transformed while working as a Production Assistant and spending time in his car listening to Rush Limbaugh on the radio.

American Minute with Bill Federer
July 15
September 11, 1777, the Chaplain of Congress, Patrick Allison, brought to the attention of the Continental Congress that Revolutionary War had interrupted trade with the King's authorized printers in England, thereby causing a shortage of the King James Authorized Version of the Bible, commonly used in education.
A Continental Congress committee passed the motion: "The use of the Bible is so universal and its importance so great that your committee refers the above to the consideration of Congress...
The Committee recommends that Congress will order the Committee of Commerce to import 20,000 Bibles from Holland, Scotland, or elsewhere, into the different parts of the States of the Union.
Whereupon it was resolved accordingly to direct said Committee of Commerce to import 20,000 copies of the Bible."
That same day, the British won the Battle of Brandywine, forcing Washington's troops to retreat to Valley Forge.
In a panic, the Continental Congress evacuated Philadelphia before action could be taken on the resolution.
Five years later, the Continental Congress again responded to the shortage of Bibles by authorizing the printing of America's first English language Bible, which had been described in a petition as:
"a neat edition of the Holy Scriptures for the use of schools."
Congress, on September 10, 1782, selected the publisher of The Pennsylvania Magazine, Robert Aitken, who died JULY 15, 1802, for the printing:
"Resolved, That the United States in Congress assembled highly approve the pious and laudable undertaking of Mr. Aitken, as subservient to the interest of religion, as well as an influence in the progress of arts in this country, and being satisfied from the above report of his care and accuracy in the execution of the work, they recommend this edition of the Bible to the inhabitants of the United States, and hereby authorize him to publish this recommendation. - Charles Thomson, Secretary."
Copies of this Bible are with the American Bible Society's Museum of Biblical Art in New York, and Houston Baptist University's Dunham Bible Museum.

What Happened to the $2.6 Trillion Social Security Trust Fund?
Here’s how President Barack Obama answered CBS’s Scott Pelley’s question about whether he could guarantee that Social Security checks would go out on August 3, the day after the government is supposed to reach its debt limit: “I cannot guarantee that those checks [he included veterans and the disabled, in addition to Social Security] go out on August 3rd if we haven’t resolved this issue. Because there may simply not be the money in the coffers to do it.”
And Treasury Secretary Timothy Geithner echoed the president on CBS’s Face the Nation Sunday implying that if a budget deal isn’t reached by August 2, seniors might not get their Social Security checks.

Dopey Deadlines & Deadbeat Democrats
By Alan Caruba, Tea Party Nation
Is Tim Geithner the most clueless Secretary of the Treasury this nation has ever had? Is he the Eddie Haskell of national debt, so eager to please Obama that he has been a party to driving it up by trillions since his master took the oath of office?
Now, we are all forced to witness the idiotic political machinations of the White House trying desperately to put off the greatest financial debacle to face the nation in its entire history. It’s so bad that Moody’s Investor service has the U.S. “under review” to take away our unparalleled triple-A rating.
What makes his August 2nd deadline to raise the debt ceiling particularly obscene is that it is the anniversary of the 1776 signing of the Declaration of Independence.
For you history buffs, August 2nd was also the date in 1934 that Adolf Hitler became the Fuhrer of Germany and the same day, five years later in 1939 that Albert Einstein and Leo Szilard wrote a letter to Franklin D. Roosevelt urging him to begin developing an atomic bomb.
It makes you wonder if history isn’t just a record of wars won and lost, along with an unbroken series of mistakes that would make any sane person scratch their head in bewilderment.
How did the United States of America go from Thomas Jefferson, the brilliant author of the Declaration of Independence to Timothy Geithner, a very upwardly mobile student of government and monetary affairs?
Suffice to say, as a public servant, he has served to the satisfaction of his mentors in numerous positions and also in liberal enclaves such as the Council on Foreign Affairs and a three-year stint at Kissinger Associates, learning from one of the most Machiavellian characters of the modern era. At the tender age of 42, he was named president of the Federal Reserve Bank of New York. The liberal elite take care of its own.
Geithner is the ying to Obama’s yang. They are perfectly suited to each other because both get their jollies playing the great game of state, although it should be said that Geithner is far better prepared for that role having studied abroad, including two years, 1981-2 studying Mandarin at Peking University and Beijing Normal University. His M.A. is in international economics and Asian studies from John Hopkins University School of advanced International Studies.
Obama’s education ended with a law degree from Harvard. Nobody knows what grades he made at Occidental, Columbia University or Harvard. He is often mistakenly referred to as a former professor of constitutional law at Chicago University, but in fact he was akin to a teaching assistant or adjunct, the lowest end of the academic ladder.
Obama’s mentors included a known member of the Communist Party when he was growing up in Hawaii, various “Marxist professors” at Occidental and Columbia University, and Bill Ayers who gained fame as a domestic terrorist, a member of the Weather Underground who describes himself as a “Communist with a small c.” To bring matters full circle, Ayers is a retired University of Chicago professor.
All this is by way of background to suggest that the debt ceiling will be increased because there is no alternative.
The Washington Posts’ Jennifer Rubin, a White House reporter, posted this on their blog on July 13th.
“Today’s White House meeting suggests there is no deal remotely in sight on the debt ceiling. A GOP aide familiar with the talks told me, “Today was the most tense meeting of the week. In fact, the president ended the meeting by abruptly leaving the room. During the meeting, the speaker challenged the president to offer real spending cuts. He said the gimmicks and accounting tricks that Washington has used for decades are not applicable here.” House Speaker John Boehner (R-Ohio) has had enough. “When White House officials attempted to justify budgetary gimmicks, the speaker said pointedly ‘We’re not doing that anymore.’”
At some point you wonder what is the point of keeping the talks from public scrutiny. The pathetically passive media is not demanding particulars from the White House. So, Obama sits back, refusing to present any significant cuts. He’s serious about three things: making the Republicans out to be the bad guys, doing nothing to upset his base and insisting on tax hikes. If this is where he really stands, it’s time, perhaps, to pull the plug or pull back the curtain on the charade.”
The only thing on Obama’s mind is how to position himself as the hero that saved America from the tripling of a huge debt that is mostly his making and to make the Republicans look like horrible people for insisting that the government stop spending money faster than Ben Bernanke’s Federal Reserve can print it.
As Karl Rove recent wrote in The Wall Street Journal, “The president has not only governed as a liberal—he’s governed as an incompetent liberal, thereby reminding voters that electing a Republican Congress and president next year is the only way to change direction.” A recent Gallup poll has Obama losing to any generic Republican candidate!
Little of this before, on, or after August 2, 2011 has anything to do with a responsible response by the Democrats in Congress or the White House to a huge debt that just keeps getting bigger with every passing day.
Alexander Hamilton, the first Secretary of the Treasury, once said, “It's not tyranny we desire; it's a just, limited, federal government.” Americans, since the beginning of the 20th century have been suffering the tyranny of socialism and a bloated government with seemingly no limits on its growth or its spending.
