Many left wing rags, including the mainstream media which more and more fits that description, have been reporting the demise of the Tea Party while touting the rise of the 99% crowd otherwise known as Occupy ___________ (fill in the blank with any city in the US).
Before you waste one moment of your time worrying about the demise of the Tea Party or conservatism please take the source of these articles into account. When did we start taking The Huffington Post seriously? This is the crowd that only feels they are getting their point across when they can talk over you. They do not have a defensible platform on which to present their case so they cannot allow you to challenge them. When they are losing they respond by trying to convince folks that there is no point in listening to you because you represent a shrinking minority espousing stale ideas or that your crowd is full of bigots, homophobes, Islamophobes, racists, one percenters, Uncle Toms, or anything else they can think of. Some of the 99% are just out of work graduates who, when they figure out the extent to which they have been duped, will be in Washington protesting the real reason for their problems.
Has anyone noticed that a large portion of Ron Paul supporters are young people? Many are so fed up with the current state of affairs that they want the pendulum to swing to whomever is the opposite of Barack Obama. This election cycle Ron Paul is that person. I am not endorsing Ron Paul but I am saying this should tell us something.
Conservatism is not on the wane but is gaining in popularity with those who are truly educated about the current state of our country. Every day more and more people are coming to the conclusion that conservatism is the only answer. This is the reason that Democrat and Republican registrations are down and those declaring that they are Independents is on the rise. Truly educated people know that Democrats are more liberal than most Republicans but they also know that many Republicans are too liberal to be called conservatives and that this is the reason we are in our present deplorable condition.
This situation is why there is a Tea Party. Many of the folks who post comments here are trying to educate themselves so that they can do what is necessary to get the "Ship of State" back on the course set by this country's founders. The "Ship of State" is a huge vessel and cannot be turned on a dime. Many here find this to be frustrating because they want to make dramatic changes that will restore this country to the founders vision now.
I share in this frustration but we must not be discouraged and need to realize that the same thing that is preventing us from getting the real conservative candidate we want and correcting all of the things we know need fixing is what will ultimately save us from Barack Obama. He too is frustrated because, though he can inflict much damage, the Ship of State is too large for a one term president to scuttle or even to make a sharp left turn with. This being said, it is important to realize that Obama has managed to get us pretty far off course to the left and, given a second term, could do irreparable harm so we must do whatever is needed to be sure that he is not re-elected.
