Common Core standards split state’s teachers, politicians

WILMINGTON — Politicians and educators in North Carolina are asking a controversial question about the new Common Core standards: Should we stay, or should we go? The state is the latest in a growing list fighting battles over the merits and drawbacks of the set of math and English standards that has been adopted by 45 states since 2010.
