“It’s time to invite the Occupy Movement to church,” or at least according to pastor Jim Wallis it is. You might recall Wallis — a member of President Barack Obama’s faith council and founder of Sojourners ministry. He is also reportedly a spiritual adviser to Obama.
Now, Wallis is also opening the doors to his parish, offering sanctuary to Occupy protesters, while at the same time encouraging other churches across the country to do the same. According to KleinOnline, Wallis suggested that Thanksgiving is the “perfect occasion” for churches to reach out and offer Occupiers shelter.
Wallis used his church’s magazine as a platform to call for a “church sanctuary for the Occupy movement.” KO adds:
