Dear Registered Republicans,
The Democrats have made a formal request for the 2012 Early Voting to have the polling locations open on Sundays for the General Elections. This would be in addition to the regular scheduled days. Currently Early Voting will be available13 days at five locations and all 27 Precinct Voting locations on Election Day. Voters who know they will be unable to vote at any of these times have the option to obtain an absentee ballot. This is very clear that anyone interested in voting has ample opportunity to do so.
Voting days and times now scheduled are:
Oct, 18, 19, 22, 23, 24, 25, 26, 29, 30, 31, Nov 1, 2: 8:00 AM – 5:00 PM (there is a proposal to change the closing time to 6:00 PM); Nov 3: 8:00 AM – 1:00 PM; and Nov 6: 6:30 AM – 7:30 PM
Voting polls have never been open on Sundays which is a religious day of rest. As noted above there is ample opportunity for individuals to vote. The Craven GOP does not support this initiative and added cost. If you support our effort, please take a moment and write a short email explaining your concerns to the Craven County Board of Elections eburridge@cravencountync.gov If you prepare an email to address your concerns, please ensure you forward your response prior to August 5.
We want success in the 2012 General Elections, done professionally and honestly. This will require hard work and working together as a team. Thank you in advance for your continued support.
Chuck Tyson
Chairman, CCGOP
